Ringtone volume and Alarm volume are two separate things... You can set the Ringtone volume by.. Menu-->Settings-->Profile-->.. select the profile you want to use..-->Personalise-->Ringing Volume...
..whereas for Alarm volume there is no such setting as mentioned by rohitms2711 ..but  the work-around is use a tone that is louder..you can download some good ones from

  • Ringing volume on 6233 too low!

I find the ringing volume on the 6233 to be extremely low when set to the ordinary levels. Basically, in order to get the phone to ring at a level loud enough that you might actually hear it in normal environments, you have to set the ring tone to the highest setting, which is "ascending."
This seems to be a curious and very annoying quirk of the 62xx models, as I had the same difficulty with the 6230, and it was especially bad with the 6230i. I once read about someone who said they were able to just set the tone to "ascending" and then put a pause before the loud bit, so that it starts off loud, but I have no idea how to go about doing that.
Finally, I owned a 6630 and I also own an N80, and both of these phones ring very loudly and very clearly on normal settings. I would love some guidance from anyone inside Nokia or who has done research with their help centre about this problem, in order to understand why they seem able to deliver normal, effective ringing in some handsets, but not others.

we are waiting for a fix.

  • The Volumn is too low is there a way to increase it?

The Ipad volumn is okay if you are sitting alone in a quiet place.  I brought my Ipad to work and just with a few people talking it seemed as though there was no sound.  I was trying to show off and I didn't make a good impression, because no one could hear it.

    volume is less, i agree.
there is a equilizer in settings. try changing it, that will bring a slight change in the volume output.

  • The volumn is very low on the computer or playing CD's.

I do not Skype or anything like that - all I want to do is to listen to & burn CD's, but I haven't been able to do so as the volumn is too low.  I attached speakers (speakers which were on my old computer & worked fine), but the volumn
is very faint on both the computer ads itself or a CD playing.  I saw some of the same questions dating back to 2010 & there didn't appear to be any resolution at the time, not unless I'm just not seeing it.  I'm hoping that's
not the case - Waiting for your response as I have not been able to use the feature from the delivery date of Dec. 12th.

There can be many reasons for this to happen.
    1-a corrupt driver.  Go to start>search>device manager>enter
Look for the audio device (sound, video, game controllers) and make sure none of the devices have a  yellow exclamation point on them ("!") Then look in audio inputs & outputs also check for "!".
Then go to the speaker in the system tray and click it.  Then click mixer.  Make sure the levels there are all the same.

  • Speakers on my macbook pro are too low, speakers on my macbook pro are too low

Listening to music, watching DVD's or movies on ITunes, the volumne is too low.  Can I make it louder?   It is already set as high as it could go.

Yes, I could use more volume myself sometimes. The speakers are not big enough on MacBooks for larger volumes... more might blow the speakers and there would be no chance of any quality sound. Make sure the volume is up on the apps. and websites you use. Earphones are perfect for me and sound way better then the baby speakers.  Or try Grant's suggestion.

  • Soft ring tone

I downloaded a ring tone, Frankenstien by E Winter, on my iPhone4 and I can barely hear it when I get a call. The volume is all the way up and any preinstalled ring tones are fine, too loud at max volume really. Its pretty useless to me now. Any way to get downloaded material to play louder?
    Thanks in advance......

your phone maybe on a different software version some phones have had volume reduction in new updates you could try obtaining a loud mp3 tone which may work have a look at a site called zedge.com for some tones .
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Downloaded ring tone too low

I just got the phone, about 2 hours ago, its great. The only issue I'm having is that my downloaded ring tone is too soft. It Frankenstien by Edgar Winter so it should play loud enough. The ring tones that were on the phone are loud enough. How do I raise the volume on a downloaded one?

In itunes, go to the ringtones tab and select all downloaded ringtones. right click and click get info and under options, you can increase the volume slider all the way up if you wish to. then click ok. after that you have to resync your iphone with itunes to get the "louder" ringtones.

    Here's another suggestion -- MP3Gain
My comments on how to use it and where to find it are here: (link)
The instructions for using it to raise the volume are the same as the instructions posted there for using it to lower the volume.
    One more thing.
At the top of screen, click on "Options" and you'll see this option:
"Don't clip when doing track gain"
When this is checked, MP3Gain will try to raise the volume as close as possible to the value you specified; but it will stop short of that value if that value will cause the ringtone to be distorted.
Omitting the checkmark will remove this restriction
Here is some advice on setting the clipping option I found:
    http://forums.sonyinsider.com/topic/18810-mp3-gain/
"As [far as] setting the target, look at the clipping indicator (red "Y"). you want to target the highest number where the clipping is gone. I find the default 89 put the volume too low for my taste, but pretty much guarantee zero clipping. I find 90 or 91 is good enough in eliminating clipping most of the time."
If you want to apply MP3Gain to audio that you're going to use as music that you're going to listen to on your phone, here's advice on that matter:
    http://forums.ilounge.com/digital-audio-formats/76598-mp3gain-usage-guide.html

  • Nokia 3110 Classic Alarm tone too low

  • Volume too low on ringer and with hands-free headsets

Both the ringer's volume and the volume within headsets are too low in my new Droid X. When holding it to my ear while talking it is loud enough well below max volume, but hearing people through headsets while driving is often too low with all volumes set to max (on loud freeways, for example). I usually keep my phone's ringer on silent vibrate, but it would be nice to be able to turn it up louder when the phone is sitting on a desk at home. Cell phone ringers can be obnoxiously loud, but there are times when people need to have them turned up.
Because it is an issue in both the ringer speaker and the jack for wired headsets, it seems like there is a good chance of getting a software fix to raise the max volume levels. Reading posts on forums, it seems clear that this problem is widespread in most, if not all, Droid X devises.
If you are having similar problems, please take a moment to call both Verizon and Motorola with a polite report of the issue. I spoke with both today and they said they were aware of the issue, and the tech at Motorola said they were "looking into" a software fix for it. If enough people call and report it, we have a better chance of getting a fix sometime soon.
    Verizon's support line is: (800) 922-0204.
Motorola's is: (800) 734-5870 (I chose #6 for "other issues" a couple of times after routing into Droid support to get a live tech)
It can be frustrating to filter through the support systems and report it, especially if they tell you to try obvious things like rebooting the phone and turning the volume up, but it really is the only way to get them to fix this issue. Both techs I spoke with actually looked in their systems right away and acknowledged the issue is being reported by people.
Of course, if anyone has a real solution to this issue, please let us know what it is!

Thanks for the suggestion JKramer. I should have been more clear about having adjusted all volumes up in the settings screen. Assuming all sound options are located within the "Settings --> Sound & Display" screen, then yes, I have tried changing them. I have also tried changing the option to "use incoming call volume for notifications" under the "ringer volume" settings, after reading that someone had success in improving volume that way.
This issue is not a problem all of the time. It is only an issue when there is an elevated level of background noise, such as driving on the freeway, or having music or a movie playing in the room.
The phone is otherwise excellent! I live and commute in areas of very spotty reception (with all cell providers), and this phone will keep calls and not even have voices garble where my past two phones have consistently dropped calls in at least five problem locations. So far, everything else about it seems to work great!
Maybe some of these phones don't have this issue. Or, maybe the people who say they don't encounter the problem are lucky enough to live in relatively quite environments most of the time. In a quiet house or office, it is certainly loud enough. It just needs to have the option for increased volume when in noisy places. The issue is that its "max volume" settings are not as loud as with other phones.
Searching for something like "Droid X volume" will indeed show many people experiencing these same problems on various forums...

  • I have the same problem in my iphone. i can receive call and talk and listen too otherwise no sound at all like ringer tone , on-off click soung , video-music soung , game sound.

i have the same problem in my iphone. i can receive call and talk and listen too otherwise no sound at all like ringer tone , on-off click soung , video-music song , game sound.
i have tried to clean the audio jack too but result is the same. Can any body help me please.

No external sound or not sound at all - external or when using the earbuds?
Standard troubleshooting steps in order are; power the iPhone off and on, Reset by pressing and holding the Home key and Sleep/Wake or On/Off key simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so, Restore.
i had it once before, restored the iPhone and it was solved, but i don't want to restore my iPhone every day.
Does this happen every day? If not, when was the last time this happened?
If you have sound when using the earbuds, another thing to try is insert the earbuds and start playing a song - making sure the sound can be heard with the earbuds. Without pausing the song, remove the earbuds.
If no sound is available with the speaker and a the troubleshooting steps do not resolve it or one of the steps does resolve it but the same occurs again, time to give AppleCare a call (800) 694-7466 or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

  • Ringing tone is too loud

When I give a call with my iphone4 using in ear headphone the ringing tone is far lounder that the voice of the correspondent. I need to lower manually the ringing tone when I wait to get connected then increase the sound level when my correspondent pick-up. If I forget to decrease the sound for the next call its a real real pain for my eardrum.
Is there any way of setting independantly ringing tone and conversation voice ?
    thanks

The volume of the ringtone can be changed in Settings > Sounds.

  • N96 - too much music, cant choose ring tone

is it me, or do they need to change the software slightly to not look for all music when you want to choose a ring tone in a profile setting... i have over 2000 music files and its impossible to find a ring tone youve uploaded to it, or one of the pre installed nokia ones for messages or alarms etc... i know you can start typing to search, but thats no good if you want to browse a short list or if you dont know the name of it...
is there a change request somewhere to send to nokia?

Does this still happen after re-booting the device?
If so i would remove at least half of all your tracks as i have heard of this many times on other devices such as the N95 and the 8GB version.

  • 6300 - Low Volume of Ring tone

    Hi 6300 users,
The ring tone volume of my phone is hardly audible. I have of course turned up the volume to the max extent.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, it sounds like a software fault.
It is set to ring but is ringing ascending, so you will need to get the software updated.
You could try the Nokia Software Updater first.
If that doesnt work then you should take it to a Nokia Care Point.
You can find the nearest NCP to you at the Store Locator
