X-Fi Gamer Vista/Windows 7 64x weird stuttering problem...

Xfi Xtreme Gamer Sound card (latest drivers)
Vista 64x & Windows 7 64x
Intel E6700 CPU
4GB RAM
2 x ATI HD 4850 (crossfired)
Right this is my problem...
When running a website with flash in Firefox (haven't checked other browsers) in either operating system and listening to music (or watching flash) my computer either locks up for a period of time or the locks up and whatever sound comes out stutters. When this has happened the sound switches from 7. to stereo and if it stutters again it will switch to stereo back to the correct 7..
Any fixes would be great, thank you.

The is a long shot so bear with me. This almost sounds like a buffering problem where you have the option for selecting how fast you want an applet to stream video to you. For example, if you choose Quicktime to stream to you at T speeds and you are on dialup, it will take forever and skip like crazy. have you recently changed browsers, connections speeds, or installed a codec pack? These suggestions seem random but I feel they are applicable and may help.
Cheers,
jmacguire

.Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7? Hello, I am just wondering if it is a known issue to have really loud static and crackling when playing games using this card in Vista or Windows 7. I had this issue playing Bioshock a few months back on my Vista boot. I never figured out a way to resolve it so I belei've I just eventually uninstalled the driver and used the card without a driver install (not sure but I think this what I did). It worked but I might as well of just ran onboard sound...
Now I have installed and tried to run Windows 7 on a dual boot but I started receiving really loud cracking and popping in Warhammer Online and realized I had not installed a driver for my sound card. I did not expect creative to have a Win 7 driver yet but thought perhaps the Vista driver would work in compatibility mode, it does and sounds awesome and really makes me remember what I am missing without my driver installed on Vista but unfortunatly it randomly starts the crackling and popping again after a while...especially when a lot start happening on screen (pvp raids with many characters on screen and magic effects).
When the crackling starts happening I have no choice but to exit the game and restart the computer to get rid of the noise, but randomly it comes back after a while during gameplay. So as a temporary solution I have installed my onboard sound drivers and have been using that for sound output and my mic port on my sound card for my microphone. I would REALLY love to get my sound issues worked out in both Vista and Win 7 because it sounds SOOO awesome while it's working, the popping though is terrible, I never had that issue in XP.
I know this is an older card but any help would be appreciated!?

One thing you do need to learn is that SHOUTING IS MUCH HARDER TO READ!
But, if you are using Audition 1 and it works with XP, then if you have the chance, I'd stick to that on a new machine. Apart from anything else, it's completely untried with Windows7 and with Vista its a) likely to have problems, and b) going to run slower.
The other part of your question about the 'look' of later versions is that 1.5 looks pretty similar to 1.0, but with 2.0 and 3.0 things have changed somewhat - rather more with Multitrack View than Edit View. Basic operating principle remains the same, though - most people have had very little trouble transferring from one to another.

  • Video issues in mac os 10.6.4 and windows 7 64x

To start with, my computer is the late 2008 model Imac, has 3g of memory, and wasn't experiencing any video problems until earlier this month. I've already had it serviced, and was told that the issue was resolved, and was unrelated to hardware. Fifteen minutes after repair and setup, the exact same symptoms occur.
I'm thinking, Ok, perhaps this is a bad install of windows, since it happened in a windows program (everquest 2, an online game), and rebooted into Mac. Almost immediately, I saw video problems (snow, pixels, lines, distortion)on the mac side, which had occurred with the windows side.
My husband is angry, I'm angry, so I decide that I'm going to trash everything and start off completely fresh. I intended to reinstall mac 10.6.4 after erasing everything, so I removed the windows partition, and attempted to reinstall snow leapard, without using the original leapard disc that came with the system. I didn't realize until too late that I had forgotten to erase the original os, but I figured I'd see if there were any problems and go from there. I had no initial problems with the install of either os (mac or windows), except to note that I couldn't install the apple software updates on the windows side. I was able to fully update the mac side before attempting any installation of the windows os.
I started having video problems really quickly in the windows side after the full installation and update, but the system disabled the initial nvidia drivers and went to plug and play drivers. The only thing that displayed any further problems was the ISight camera, but that was to be expected without the apple updates.
I did read the bootcamp manual afterwards, and saw that my IMac, being an earlier version, might not properly install bootcamp drivers for windows 7 64x, although we had successfully located and manually installed the drivers earlier when first installing windows 7 64x. Keep in mind, I'd had the os installed for several months without any video problems, and in fact, it worked like a dream in both os after the computer had a previous repair of the hard drive, sound card, and logic board.
Anyway, to continue, after the video symptoms occurred on windows, I switched back over to mac to look for and install a video firmware download that I had located through these same forums. I had to change os because it was a dmg, so I did so. Now, I still had the snow leapard install disc in the computer, so that's the first thing I saw on the screen when booting into mac. I immediately started also seeing the pixels and some distortion, but it stopped briefly. I tried bringing up Firefox to get to the download, but the computer froze (showed the little round ball)and wouldn't respond further. I tried several reboots, and could usually at least get into snow leapard, but the computer froze each time.
Finally, after several attempts, the computer won't boot into either os, and won't go into the install disc either. I'm completely at a loss, because I'm told this IS NOT a hardware issue, and the problem was resolved with simply resetting everything. The problem was NOT resolved with that reset, because I'm able to reproduce this issue consistently with multiple reboots, and have even recorded it with a camera I have. I'm at my wit's end, because I'm on a fixed income, and this costs me time and money I just don't have. It's caused me to get behind on one of my bills, because I have to have a computer, and further repairs, while covered under warranty, are going to cost me further money to get to and from the service center. Not to mention the fact that it's going to take another month for me to wait for my money to become available so that I can pay for the ride back and forth for the repair.
Anyone, anyone at all, have any suggestions that may help? I have access to another computer, and can try using that computer to help me boot the other computer up, if I know how. Please, this is so frustrating to me, so I'm hoping someone can suggest something that may help.
I know I mentioned in the post what type of video issues I'm experiencing, but I figured I'd reiterate to make it easy. The computer will display a distorted image on bootup, like a pixelated off-center image. You know, kinda like 2 punch cards held up to each other, with the same holes, but off center. You also get snow, when able to boot up, with the screen sometimes showing half the screen, flickering. Like the screen is broken, but it's not even scratched. And it's not all the time either, if it was, I would think maybe an internal screen was broken or cracked (I've worked tech support for devices with internal screens, so I understand you can have a perfectly good outer screen, but a cracked inner screen). Right now, on bootup, I get that punch card effect, then the screen goes blank. I should mention that sometimes the system will show that, but then boot into windows with no immediate distortion, but will show distortion in the mac side if I'm able to boot into snow leapard. Hope this information helps someone give me an answer that helps.

To start with, my computer is the late 2008 model Imac, has 3g of memory …
I'm assuming you mean the Early 2008 iMac since there is no "late 2008" one. AFAIK, it came with 2 GB of RAM standard & the common BTO option would have been 4 GB, so can we assume that you have installed an aftermarket memory module to get to 3 GB?
I've already had it serviced, and was told that the issue was resolved, and was unrelated to hardware. Fifteen minutes after repair and setup, the exact same symptoms occur.
What repair and setup? Is this something you did after getting the iMac back from service? If so, what exactly did you do?
I had no initial problems with the install of either os (mac or windows), except to note that I couldn't install the apple software updates on the windows side.
Do you mean the Windows drivers or something else? Did you follow the Bootcamp install procedure exactly when reinstalling Windows or not?
I switched back over to mac to look for and install a video firmware download that I had located through these same forums.
What video firmware download do you mean? AKAIK, there are none for early 2008 iMacs.
No offense intended, but it is hard to understand exactly what you have done because while you mention much, you don't say a lot about the specifics for a lot of that. In general, it is best to concentrate on those things & keep the commentary to a minimum.

  • Problem with games in windows

I'm having a problem running games, and I can't figure out why it's happening or how to fix it. I'm using a base model Macbook, about three weeks old, running Windows XP Home...first with SP2, now with SP3. I had gb of RAM, but I dropped it back down to the stock RAM to see if maybe a bad stick was causing the problem. No performance drop in the games, so I'm leaving it that way for the time being. This is my second Macbook, and my first was replaced due to a pletora of other problems. It didn't do this, though.
Randomly in games, I get a blue screen and the computer shuts down. This is the error I get:
Error code 000000ea = "THREADSTUCK_IN_DEVICEDRIVER" - A device driver is spinning in an infinite loop, most likely waiting for hardware to become idle. This usually indicates problem with the hardware itself, or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. In many cases this is the result of a bad video card or a bad display driver.
Mainly the game I'm running is Phantasy Star Universe, which worked perfectly fine on my old Macbook, which was also a base model, but a couple generations older. It had the Intel GMA 950 chipset, where the newer one has the Intel GMA 965 chipset. The game actually runs slightly worse than it did on the old machine, but the game by no means pushes the Macbook to it's limits. Anyway, from anywhere between 10 to 40 minutes into the game, it'll blue screen. It's not just this game, though, it's done it elsewhere, but not nearly as frequently as when playing the game. I also have to point out that I don't run anything else when playing the game. I intentionally shut down everything that's not important when I run games, to avoid any conflicts.
I've tried a number of different versions of Intel's drivers, and played with the settings, gradually downgrading it's performance. I've tried re-intalling the game, changing settings in the game, reinstalling windows, updating windows, changing my ram. I'm grasping at straws here, and I don't know what's to blame. I want to point my finger at bad drivers, or bad hardware. I' blame the game if it behaved the same way on my old Macbook. I initially thought it was the game, because it kept happening in the same areas, but I proved it to be coincidence. The hardware isn't THAT different. From what I've been told, the graphics chipset in the newer Macbook should perform a lot better than it does, but Intel's drivers are kind of...blah. But are they blah enough to cause chronic issues? If it IS a driver issue, at this point the only solution is to wait for Intel to update them and hope the problem is fixed. I'm extremely paranoid about it being a hardware issue, due to my experience with my old Macbook.

Just a thought, but what if its spyware or a trojan horse?/Virus?
    e-mail me back k?
in the game of world of warcraft, the game's configurations make it easier to catch a virus from other people. Games like that can sometimes bypas the firewall.
Let me know when you find out k?
    I hope i've helped.

    I have a windows 7 64x SP1.
Every time I install iTunes 12 I get this message when I try to open it:"This copy of iTunes is damaged and it has not been correctly installed. Please, install iTunes again.(-42404)".
The instalation process runs smoothly without any error message and iTunes has been installed in my computer before. The problem started with the update no. 12. Any idea what's going on? Thank you

if itunes will not run, you probably have mangled windows badly
one feature of windows 8 is the refresh that saves libraries,
because you are using windows 7, you will need to backup all files to another storage device

  • Disabling SMB2 and SMB3 Client from Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

There are many programs that are using a shared file on the server from clients from XP to Windows 10. From time to time it seems like there is a network outage and the handle to the file is broken and the file
cannot be read or updated. It seems more prevalent on a Windows 2012 server but may have happened from time to time on 2008 & 2008 R2. However there are not any network problems so it just leaves the server & Client
I have searched for possible resolutions including:-
Turning  off the Cache for the share
Disabling the network adapter power setting to allow windows to put the device to sleep.
Disabling  Antivirus/configuring it to ignore folders for on access scanning
    Disabling SMB  Signing
Configuring the  clients DWORD registry value SilentForcedAutoReconnect=1 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\NetCache
Setting the "NET CONFIG SERVER /AUTODISCONNECT:-1" to not drop client
    connections
The last bit of trouble shooting that I can think of is to disable SMB2 and SMB3 as that does a lot of caching and batching of packets which could also be the cause of the problem.
    I have looked at
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2696547/en-us
I have disabled SMB2&3 on the server as that is very straight forward.
When I get to the section about disabling SMB2 on the client the command fails.
    sc config
    lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
After running the above command, it returns an error:
          [SC] ChangeServiceConfig FAILED 1059:
          Circular Service Dependency was specified.
So it's not worth running the following command:
    sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
I have tried the command on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10 just to confirm that it's  nothing to do with any particular PC, machines in Domains and Non-Domain machines.
    So, my questions are:-
    1, is
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2696547/en-us actually correct and up to date and for the OSes (Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 2012 server and Windows 10) with latest updates & service packs?
2, How do I disable SMB2 and SMB3 on clients for troubleshooting purposes the server to resolve problems with shared files (multi user access)
3, If I just disable SMB2 & 3 from the server would that force the clients not to use SMB2 when communicating with the server and therefore not caching the directory structure and file not found etc? I have seen posts that suggest this is not the case.
    4. Does sc.exe have a bug in it?
    Thanks in advance
    Rob

    Hi,
I made a test in our testing enviroment, everything works fine to disable SMB2 and 3. For your problem, in my opinion, as I didn't find any specific report about this error, it would be better to use Process Monitor to capture the trace when running the
    command.
Start Process Monitor, then set the filter as cmd.exe, after that, open CMD and execute the command.
    Process Monitor:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
In addition, I found another thread that had similar error with yours, you can take its solution as reference.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/506828c8-e7af-4039-aca7-43321939bb55/offline-files-synchronization-error-the-file-specified-cannot-be-found?forum=w7itpronetworking

    Roger,
Many thanks for the time taken to look into this.
I've downloaded process monitor and loaded it. I filtered for cmd.exe started capture and saved a 1mb file.
However I don't think this is going to help unless you can point me in the direction of what you're expecting to see in the capture file? If you want me to send you it I can but it does contain personal information which I'd rather not place online.
You can recreate the problem yourself by doing the following:
    Go to modern.ie
Download any windows 7 virtual machine for your preferred of virtualisation  platform
log in, start cmd as administrator and run the command
    sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
You will also receive the same error.
    [SC] ChangeServiceConfig FAILED 1059:
    Circular Service Dependency was specified.
You can also try it on the Windows 8 and 8.1 machine if you have time.
I checked the link to the similar error and that just looks at the file not found problem which is the smb2 cache. They still didn't resolve the slow access to the share which is seen on a machine that has anti-virus on it when you go to right click
on the folder or a file in the folder. It's about a 20 second (spinning circle) pause every time. The problem is bigger than that. If you have shared files on the network share that are used by multiple people at the same time, say a spreadsheet or database
file windows is loosing the connection to that file so the user cannot write to it even if they have the file open. The smb2 caching shouldn't cause that problem.
It appears that I have to disable from SMB2 and SMB3 and ensure that the clients only use SMB1.
If SMB2 & SMB3 are disabled from the lanmanworkstation service the clients will not do any caching even if the server has disabled the share cache (offline files for that share).
The problem with the "Circular reference" error message is standard across all versions of windows that have "smb2" or "smb2 and smb3". Can you recreate that problem? Or is it working on your windows computer and on the machines
    downloaded from modern.ie ?
My testing has shown that the command "sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi" does not work. Therefore that's the one I want to resolve first. By resolving that I may be able to get the clients accessing the share to behave
themselves and use the shared files correctly as they always did from Windows 95/NT4 through to Windows XP and 2003/2008 server.
I'm unable to recreate the problem with multiple users having access to shared database files on windows 2012 server from Windows 7 clients were the access to the files drops once a day or once every couple of days.
    Kindest Regards
    Robert

  • IDT HD Audio stuttering 3d apps/games/tf2 - Windows 7 x64 - Pavilion dv7-4113tx

As per the rules I need to state:
I am a HP employee, my views/opinions/etc are my own and do not represent those of HP.
    This is cross-posted from freezes/lockups.
I would file some sort of bug report - but I wouldn't know where to start, I don't work in an area that has anything to do with manufacturing HP products; and this is my free time now  and I don't have intranet access .
I recently picked up a HP Pavilion dv7-4113tx Entertainment Notebook PC [ XV780PA ] for my personal use and overall it's been pretty good. It comes with windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit.
there is however an issue that I must bring up in regard to gaming, or i would assume any intensive 3d application, most notably Valve games, my test of choice is Team Fortress 2.
The game will work fine in native resolution - I get around 100-120fps but about every 30 seconds - 2 minutes, there is a audio/video stutter (by stutter, it will repeat the last .5 seconds of audio about 3-4 times in a loop while the screen will freeze on where the first audio stutter started), which will cause the game to 'freeze' for approximately 2 seconds and then continue where you left off.
Team fortress 2 is an incredibly time critical multiplayer online game, and this delay essentially means my e-death on multiple occasions.
I initially thought it was the graphics card, or the drivers - I upgraded the drivers to the latest on the ATI site, that increased my fps, but the stuttering was still there. After searching around on the internet a bit, i found a suggestion to disable the audio driver (device manager lists it as - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) as a test - so I did so.
The game purrs like a kitten - absolutely no stuttering. my score went up immediately
So, my next step was to try and get some Updated Drivers for the IDT Audio device (note, i cannot find a model name anywhere in the hp specs - or on the internet really) - I found out IDT themselves cannot release drivers, that these can only be obtained through OEMs.
    which brings me to here.
now - the closest I have found to the drivers I required are here:  IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows 7
Note: - it says on the page that they are 32 bit drivers - but I've found they work with the 64 bit version of windows.
these worked a little better - it fixed another annoying issue - the fact if you use the volume controls in a fullscreen application that it will switch back to the desktop to display the on screen slider bar of the volume going down (which was arguably redundant as windows 7 displays the speaker volume in the bottom right hand corner) - and it just turns the audio down as intended.
however - the stuttering is still very noticeably present .
I then tried to use the HP Support assistant  to run automated diagnostics and troubleshoot... which then downloaded the old drivers that gave me that fullscreen volume control issue back again - so i assume the original drivers.
So I installed the other drivers again.
My next test will be to use an external USB or firewire soundcard to see if this will allow me have games with sound.
Can an appropriate agent at HP please address this concern and notify when this bug will be fixed - IDT says they work with OEM's to fix issues regularly on the IDT link above.
I believe this is such an issue that will likely require a bug fix.

  • Windows 8.1 Problem with games from windows store.

I've got a problem with games from windows store. The installation is going well without any problems, however when I try to open it it's loading and then it turns off. The same problem happens when I try to use Games for Windows. I've use a sfc scan and
it shows some errors but unfortunately it cannot fix them. Should I share the CBS log or find the solution somewhere else? I hope you help, best regards.

    Hi,
According to my experience, the problem like store game app open failed probably caused by hardware driver. such as Audio and Graphic driver. So, first of all, please try to reinstall these two driver to fix this problem for test.
In addition, for SFC scan failed problem, it can be caused by many reasons, I would suggest you use another command to fix your system for test.
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Also you can test SFC command in Windows 8.1 safe mode.
Thirdly, if problem persists, please check Event Viewer, generally speaking, it would record the app open failed events.

  • BDB support for Windows Vista, WIndows 7 and Windows Server?

    Hello,
I examine to use BDB on Windows, and I have a question.
    There's a description about supported OSs on the BDB reference guide as follows;
    Where does Berkeley DB run?
The Berkeley DB distribution includes support for Windows/95, Windows/98, Windows/NT, Windows/2000 and Windows/XP, via the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and .NET development environments.
Does BDB distribution supports for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003?
And it will support Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7?
I believe that BDB does not depend on specific function of Windows, thus there's no problem to support them...
    Regards,
    Akira

Yes, we have a plan about BDB support for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server. Once we are ready, we'll let you know here.
    Hi Vit,
For Berkeley DB XML questions, please go to the Berkeley DB XML forum at: Berkeley DB XML
By the way, I learnt there's a XP-compatible mode in Windows 7. You may want to try DB-XML with that.
    Best regards,

What is the problem with adobe Acrobat pro version 6 and vista (windows 7)?.....really annoying having to upgrade later version costing hundreds of pounds

I am not sure if VISTA has the same problem as Win7 or not. For Win7, the AcroTray application that is used for PDF creation (both when printing to the Adobe PDF printer and with PDF Maker in AA6) will likely not work correctly. This may also be the case with VISTA. To get around this problem you have to print-to-file (you can change the PDF Port to FILE in the printer properties). After the file is create, you can open it in Distiller to complete the PDF creation. It may be possible to create watched folders to automate this process, but is not as ideal. In any case, you will likely have to use a work around. Also, update your AA6 (currently at 6.0.6). I have been able to do this with AA5 on Win7 as a test and it did indeed work. There may still be other issues for AA5 on Win7, but that was the major one.
All of these changes came from the rewrite that Adobe had to do to be compatible with the new OSs, not a trivial task. Do you want to blame Adobe or MS or both? Take your pick, but the end result is that it is time to upgrade. Unfortunately, AA6 can not be upgraded to AAX. You have to buy AAX at full cost at this point. To get the upgrade you would have to have at least AA7.

Thank you for the link, but I am not sure how this is going to help me: I am not booting straight to an X session, but prefer to log into TTY1 and have my login shell handle everything from there.
Here is the relevant part of my .zprofile:
    if (( UID )); then
    [[ -z $DISPLAY && $XDG_VTNR -eq 1 ]] && exec systemd --user
    fi
As far as I understand, your method works if I enable the [email protected] template when actually booting straight to X.

  • Developer 6i &reports 6i works on window 7 64x and 32 against 10g 11gr2

    if some one is interested
we had using it several months ago.
    developer 6i and reports 6i works on window 7 64x and 32 against 11gr2
    graphics dont
    forms worked from the beggining
    reports fails sporadically,
but I fixed this with this
    http://windows7bugs.wordpress.com/2010/03/01/installing-oracle-developer-forms-reports-6i-on-windows-7-64bit/
I download from metalink all patchs for developer 6i for business product. and applied the last path released only to it.
But I don-t think this is necessary.
if some one knows how to make work graphics 6i on windows 7, please :).

Just to be clear, installing Forms/Reports/Graphics 6i or older on Windows 7 was never certified by Oracle and therefore would have not been considered supported even if that product version was still entitled to support, which it is not. Support for Forms/Reports/Graphics 6i ended long ago. See MyOracleSupport Article 228666.1 for details.

  • Syncronizing to Vista windows Calendar & contacts

    Hi,
I am trying to set up syncronization between Vista Windows Calendar and Contacts with my Blackberry. These programs came with Vista. I can not afford Outlook, but I need a calendar and contact program on my computer.
I go to configuration > configuration Synchronization settings>
Then what do I do? I tried selecting ASCII Importer/Export but the next step asked me to link to a file, and I don't have a clue what to link to?
gthe other choice was yahoo and I have comcast mail.
    Someone please help? Any suggestions?

Hey... if you have the NEWEST bb software all you have to do is
    1) Connect your device
    2) Go to the organizer tab
3)Click address book and only address book for now and click configure settings
4)Click on address book and click SETUP
    5)  Click on Windows ( what ever operating system you have) and click next.
    6) Do the one way sync
    7) Click Finish
    8) Once clicked finished it will bring you back to the screen of 4 options. Click cancel and yes.
    9) at the bottom of the screen click, SYNC. Your windows contacts should be synced.
It did this for me... I have bb torch 9800. If you need help email me at [email protected]

  • Using Vista Windows Calendar

Is it possible to use Vista Windows Calendar and sync with the Curve?

I have the same problem. In another forum I saw that someone had asked RIM about this and RIM told them they had not had the time to config Blackberry software for Vista Calendar as MS had notified them too late about Vista. They said they were working on this (as of August 07 if I remember correctly?). Since then nothing....I wonder if they still have plans to add the Vista Calendar sync options. Anybody knows?
