X Steps in Discreet manufacturing in Production order scenario

Hi
XSTEPS guru's
As i understand till now XSTEPS is posible in PP-PI however in one thread i saw it is mentioned its application for  Discreet manufactring too.I will like to know is it really possible to apply XSTPES in discreet production order scenarion and if yes how it can be achieved.
Previous thread on this :
Re: X-Steps for Discrete

1. About the Compactability i Know you will have to check / wait for reply,
2  benefits. -
a. Generally it depends on how much functionality is required,if you arelooking for simple instructions then you need go for them, keep it simple, Dont use the funcationality just as it is available,
b. Because these are new funcitnalities and you need to be clear enough on consulting what to give and what not to give.
c.PP-PI vs Discrete has its own advantages over each one of them , Validating this is not basedon the Xsteps, it is one of the functionality added to make life simpler.
3. Reg the customisation:
IN SPRO>PROCESSINDUSTRIES>PROCESMANGEMENGE
below this you will see the Xteps.
4. Please look at this blog http://websha.de/xstepcafe/ the author has lot of info on that .

  • Material cost charge to Production Order from Cost Center / Work Center.

In Production Order Environment, is it possible that goods are issued from Storage location to Cost Center / Work Center, and in turn charged to Production Orders.
    Scenario. Transformer Manufacturing.
Production Order size : 100 Units
Steel (Kgs) per Transformer : 3 Kgs
Total Steel required for Production Order: 300 Kgs (100x3)
In the process of manufacturing of a Transformer Steel or Core winding is the first process step.
Even though the Steel required for above said Production Order is 300 Kgs, the minimum issuable lot size from stores is 2000 Kgs.
Is it possible in SAP ECC 6.0 that the Steel of 2000 Kgs is issued to a Cost Center / Work Center, and later charged to production order based on actual Consumption in the said Cost Center / Work Center.
Regards, Replies and Sugestions shall be appreciated

    Thank you for the reply,
However, the scenario that i had in mind was a bit different from what you had conceptualized.
Scenario - These transformers are basically for loading on to Inverters & UPS, The max weight of the transformer range from 15-30 Kgs. and they dont have an external casing of steel as seen on Indian Electricity Board transformers. Multiple production orders are processed at a single time in the Plant as per Customer specifications.
The general process followed for manufacture is as follows:
    1. Core Winding u2013 This process takes place in the core winding department. Steel reels are loaded on to Winders and individual cores of approx 5 u2013 30 Cm Diameter are produced. (Multiple reels of Steel are stacked one on top of the other onto a pallet.) Usually issue of steel from stores happens pallet wise. The pallets of steel generally weigh in excess of 2 tons.
In the present situation (Non SAP Environment) the entire pallet of Steel is issued to the Core winding department and later the Output is charged to multiple Production Orders, based on the records of the Core winding dept. Since in general the steel content in the FG ranges from 3- 25 Kgs multiple Production Orders can be catered to from one Pallet of Steel.
    2. Core Laithing. The wound cores are laithed so as to make the sides smooth.
    3. Core Annealing u2013 Heat treatment process.
    4. Core Insulation. u2013 Insulation of the annealed cores with insulating material.
    5. Primary Winding. u2013 Copper is wound as per the BOM Specification. The issue like that of Steel also arises in the Copper winding process. Here also the Cooper comes in Spools which far exceed the requirement for any Production Order. The minimum issueable lot for Copper from Stores is one Spool. The current practice followed is that the Cooper is taken in the name of the Copper winding department and later charged to individual Production Orders.
    6. Primary Soldering.
    7. Mid Insulation.
    8. Secondary Winding
    9. Secondary Soldering
    10. Shielding
    11. Final Insulation u2013 Same issue with insulation too, since the insulating material comes in rolls.
    12. Testing.
    13. Potting & Drilling - Process of pouring a chemical compound in the center of the transformer, which helps the transformer to later be loaded on an Inverter. The same issue with like of Steel, Copper & Insulation arises here too, since the chemical compound comes in big containers capable of meeting production requirement for a week.
    14. Packing
    15. Transfer to FG Inventory.
One of the suggestions was to issue the entire 2000 Kgs to the Production Order and then return 1700 kgs after completion of the Production Order based on actual usage. However, in my opinion this option might not be practicable because, assuming that I get another / multiple Production orders in between the issue of 2000 Kgs and return of 1700 Kgs, issue to the new Production order will not be possible if the stock in stores was only 2000 Kgs initially. In case assuming that the material is available in stores for the next production order, the situation could worsen in case of receipt of multiple production orders.
Hope, I have explained the scenario & issue being faced.

  • Goods Issue in Production order

    Hi all
I am using a Production order scenario where some of the components are Goods issued. The steps that I am following is:
    1/ Release the order
2/ Do a GI of the components using MIGO. I put the actual qty and the batch consumed
When I go back to the Production order using CO02/CO03 and go to the 'component' tab it does not show me the batch which I Goods Issued from the MIGO screen. It shows me the quantity but not the batch.
Is there a way I can make the batch appear in the Production order. The business process does not allow me to assign the batch in the Production order.
    thanks

    Hi,
If you want the batch to be visible in the component overview, the batch has to be entered in the component overview screen before the goods issue.
In this case when you do goods issue using MIGO with reference to production order, then system would propose the batches from the order automatically in MIGO.
Populating the batch automatically in the component overview screen can be achieved by customizing batch search strategy for the production order. If your process is acceptable to populate batch before goods issue, then the Batch search strategy can be configured to determine the batches automatically during order release.
Please let me know whether the above propsal solves your purpose. If its fine, then I would send you the procedure to configure the batch search strategy.
Otherwise the only way to see the component batch is thru Order info system via transaction COOIS or CO28->Documented goods movement or via CO02, by navigating thru the menu Goto->Documented goods movement.

  • Production Order Settlement Question

    Hi all,
When I create a production order and look up the material costs associated with this order I see
    Raw material 1          10.00
    Raw material 2          15.00
    Raw material 3            5.00
    Finished product 1     27.00 -
                                         3.00
Proceeding further, I do GI to Order and finish the production and do GR to Order...  now looking at  the accounting documents, I can see the Accounting Doc for GI to Order showing 30.00 and Accounting Doc for GR to Order showing 27.00
Now what happens to the 3.00?
where does this amount get settled to?
If I want the finished product to be 30.00 (10.0015.005.00) and not 27.00 (moving average price from material master) what should I do?
    Thanks,
    Kanagaraj C S

    Hi all,
Thanks for all your replies... I started looking into replies and did some analysis... changing the Moving Average Price (V) to Standard Price (V) will change the dynamics of the material cost attributes and may have impact on the earlier determined business needs. Hence I didn't want to experiment with it. Hence I procceded to the my 2nd part of the question -
If I want the finished product to be 30.00 (10.0015.005.00) and not 27.00 (moving average price from material master) what should I do?
Playing around with the system helped me to calculate the finished product price to 30.00 (10.0015.005.00) and not 27.00 (moving average price from material master) for the same finished product. Here are the steps -
    Tcode - OKK4
Select "007" - Production order - actual and goto details of this Valuation Production order - actual. Then select "Valuation with Additive Component Split" as Priority 1. Also make sure in you production order (CO01) under "Control data" in CstgVariantActl to be PPP2.
These steps will help the finished product to take the calculated price from the underlaying components instead of the moving average price from the material master.
    Thanks for all the contribution,
    Kanagaraj C S

  • Problem in overhead calculation of production order after TECO

    Dear All,
Just for reconfirmation can you tell me what is the actual sequence of steps used in Closing of Production order i.e
First we have to do TECO of an order and then we have to calculate Overhead.(KGI2).
I am asking this question because i have observed that  order which are get TECO before Overhead calculation, if you see the cost analysis, system will not update overhead value in order and the difference get posted in Variances after settlement.
If we have to do vice versa then there will be the problem as user do the TECO of an order as an when production order completed, overhead calculation is the work of costing department and they will do it at month end only hence system will always post variance for the overhead value.
    Kindly suggest.
    Regards,
    Shayam

    Hi,
Normally, you need to check the transactions allowed when the status TECO is set. However, status is set only when the sequence of the steps are completed during month end. Transactions like the WIP, variances, settlement etc as you may have bach jobs running to set the status.
    Kind Regards

  • Deletion of Production order

    Hi GURUS,
I need to know is there any transaction code to delete the production orders.
Also before I delete production order I need to carry out the below steps,
Correct the goods movement for the below orders
Clear all financial postings for below orders
Ans then to Delete production orders
Please provide me the step by step explanation for deleting the production orders.
    Awaiting for your reply.
    Cheers,
    Kumar.S

    Hi,
As mentioned earlier, to set deletion flag on the order, the balance should be zero.
The balance will be zero, when you reverse out all GI & confirmations if any, or when you settle the order.
So in this case, go thru' each order & check what has been the GI & what is confirmed, now reverse out the same if it is in the current period, if it is in previous period, then discuss with your FI person.
To clear recrods from COGI, the user needs authorization for COGI & also for the business transactions which are triggered from COGI, so once you get a error message saying not authorized, ask your basis person to address these issues.
I doubt there is a simple process for setting deletion flags, simply because you need to understand what has been done & only then suitable actions can be taken. So if you look at it from only system standpoint it would only be a few transactions, but the analysis has to be done from business side, which i guess you've done.
If you're not sure on the above, first do it in QA, get a sign from business on the same & then do it in PRD system.

  • Data not integrity on OSRI when perform Goods Receipt on Production Orders.

    Hi Guys,
Did anybody get the same issue as the following?
When I do Goods Receipt, I got the error message with receiption on more than one production orders.
[Goods Receipt - Rows - Warehouse Code][line: 2] , 'This entry already exists in the following tables  'Serial Numbers for Items' (OSRI) (ODBC -2035)'  [Message 131-183]
But it works if I receipt on one production order at a time.
I'd searched the archived posts in SDN, but still not get any helpful tip.
    pls help me. thanks.

Well, receipt one by one was not so efficient. acctually We had run a SBO addon to help it.
For routine jobs,  the 1st step, we receipt with multiple production orders, and the 2nd step, we use addon to import the serial numbers and associated with production orders.
It always works, but broke down in these days. we had do nothing on SBO settings. but  we suffered this issue in the first step, so I want to know why we can not receipt with multi production orders.

  • Operation wise confirmation in Production order

    Hello,
I want to make a new order type where operation wise confirmation is possible in Production order scenario Presently the std order type PP01 is used , where the user is doing the confirmation at order header level but now user want to go for operation wise confirmation by using CO11.
I know we can put the confirmation parameters in OPK4 , but not aware exactly where we need to define about the operation wise confirmation.
    Waiting for the reply
    Regards,
    Ravindra

    Dear Ravindra,
The general control key settings are
PP01 - Inhouse manufactured or for the operations which are processed internally
within the shop floor or company.
    PP02 - Externally processed operations.
    PP03 - Auto - GR,where in no need to carry out MB31.
For each control key,you can also set whether confirmation is a mandatory or
confirmation is possibel but not required.Check in OPJ8.You can get a better
    understanding.

  • Production Order fixed assignment ( AFS)

    Hi Gurus
please help me , i am doing below mentioned scenario
    1) Set the customization such that, when we release the order,
    Material Staging should happen automatically.
    2) Create a Production Order and save it after releasing it.
    3) In CO02, delete the Fixed assignment for the AFS Raw
    material and save it.
i cann't able to do step 3. while changing the Production order, system donot't allow me to change the Fixed Batch(Reservation) it saying that "Material assign for WM staging" can anybody knows why so?? does i have to change any spro's setting. or does it mean that after Assignment of Material staging , i cann't change the fixed assignment?????
    please give me some idea
    Thanks

This is not standard behaviour. Look for enhancements.
A relevant indicator on material master could be "Ind/coll" indicator in MRP4 view. If it is set to "1", it could induce an individual requirement like SO or WBS.

  • Production order status profile

    Hi Experts,
Can anybody please help me to create status profile.
    1. Production order should not allowed TECO untill confirm the order.
    2. Production order should not allowed GR untill GI.
Please tell step by step procedure.

    Hi,
    1. Production order should not allowed TECO untill confirm the order.
    1. Go to BS02, click new & specify the user status name, brief text & lang
    2. In status number specify 1, Status = Zst1, short text = test1, init status is tick, lowest 1, highest 2
    3. Click on object types & tick PP/PM: order header
    4. Double click on this & then in the next screen, add
    - Release - no influence & set
    - Technically complete - forbidden & no action
    5. Add next status, 2 Status = Zst2, short text = test2, init status is blank, lowest 1, highest 2
    - Confirm Prodn. order - no influence & set
    - Technically complete - allowed & no action
Now assign this profile to the order type in OPJH. Create a new order & test.
    2. Production order should not allowed GR untill GI.
use the same logic as above, replace TECO with GR for Step 1 & for Step 2 specify Goods Movement as no influence & set, then specify GR for prodn order - allowed & no action.
But note, if you want to check if all components have been GI before doing GR, then the above status profile wont help, you will have to use the User Exit - MBCF0002, give your specification to your abaper to implement the same.
Hope the above answers your query.

  • BOM and production order

CAn somebody give me the steps for creating BOM alongwith routing  in SAP
and also the steps involved in creating a Production order //
Please give me all the t Codes //Iam basically a finance and costing consultant
Iam trying to create a test scenario for testing a costing variant //
Also trying to analyse the financial impact during creation of a Prodn order
    Thanx
    Nikhil

    Mr. Nick,
    Creation of BOM:
    1. CS01 -> BOM creation
    a. Enter Mtl No., Plant No., BOM Usage (use the value 3), If you wish to keep track of changes, then generate a change number & assign the same to the change number field & also select the date from which you want the BOM to be valid from.
    b. Once inside this transaction, add the components which you want along with the qty required.
    c. There are more settings which you can do, but for a simple BOM, these entries are sufficient.
    d. If you wish to link another BOM with this, enter the mtl nos which has the BOM, this way you can build multi-level BOM's.
    2. CA01 -> Routing creation
    a. You can create a routing specific to a material or you can have a single routing for multiple materials.
    b. If you want to have a routing per material, then enter the mtl nos, Plant, change nos if you want to keep track of changes & the valid from date.
    c. You can also have routing specific to a sales document or WBS element.
    d. If you wish to have a group routing i.e. a single routing for multiple mtl's which are going to be produced in a similar way, then just enter a name in Group field.
    e. Depending on what you select above, different screens open, i would suggest, you try creating one in the sandbox server & post back if you face any problems.
    3. CO01 -> Production order creation
    a. Once you have created the BOM & routing for the material, then enter the material for which you want to create the production order, enter the production plant & also the order type. If you are not aware of what order type, then please refer to your PP consultant.
    b. After making the initial entry & when you press enter, the system automatically reads the BOM & Routing associated with this material.
    c. Once again i suggest you create a production order in sandbox server & if you face any issues you can post back.
Also note: You can use CS02, CA02, CO02 for modifications of BOM, Routings & Production orders respectively. CS03, CA03 & CO03 for display.
Hope i was able to give some assistance to you.
    Regards,
    Vivek
