X120e bluescreen when installing lan drivers

I am getting a bluescreen when I try to install the lan drivers posted on the support site for x120e.  For now I just have the device disabled because I can just use wireless, but would like to get this resolved.
I am using win 7 x64 and have upgraded to 8gb of ram.
Here is the info from windbg:

Hello,
If you replace your original memory are you then able to install the network drivers without error?

Hi Aryeh,
Thanks for the suggestion, but switching back to the original 2GB does not appear to make a difference.  I am however able to use a generic driver provided by windows after the following steps:
1. Installed the lenovo driver and it bluescreened.
2. After rebooting, installed the lenovo driver again, didn't bluescreen this time but in device manager it shows that the driver failed to load (error code 31).
3.  Uninstall the lenovo driver.
4.  Reboot and the generic windows driver gets installed.
To add a little more information, I was attempting to install the driver (7.26.902.2010) located at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-76363.html
Anyone else having this issue?
I had the same problem with the Lenovo network driver -- I just installed the driver from Realtek instead: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTy...

  • "Extraction Failed: Cannot Open Output File" error message when installing new drivers

Hello, I'm trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 Printer.  I downloaded the full feature drivers for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:
    Extraction Failed
    Cannot Open Output File
And the process closes.  It happens at about 85% extraction every time.
Any idea why?  I called HP but since it is out of warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - won't even give me basic support??  Poor, poor customer service.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
If you haven't still got the  Full Feature software installer, download it from the link below and save it to your Desktop.  If you already have it, place it on your Desktop.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL20274/mp-53147-4/100_228_PS_AIO_02_Full_USW_enu_NB.exe
Make sure the Printer is disconnected from your PC.
Download and install 7-ZIP.  Once installed, right click on the software installer for your printer, select 7-Zip and choose extract files, then click Ok.
Open the newly extracted folder and double click the setup application to start the installation ( the setup application will probably have the same icon as the original software installer you downloaded ).  Connect the printer to your PC when the software asks.
    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes,

  • Installing LAN drivers for gx720, how?

    Hi,
I did a fresh OS reinstall (Vista 32bit) and now need to install drivers. I have a CD with drivers of course but I'd like to apply the drivers from the MSI website download section since they're probably newer.
I'm having trouble installing the RealTek LAN drivers, though (on the site, the driver's is specifically listed as 'Realtek 811X PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC' on the following page: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1521). Without these, I cannot use direct LAN connection for ie. internet access.
Thus, the specific download file I'm having trouble with is this: http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/dvr_exe/realtek_lan_v_nb.zip. Because it is a 'clean' package with no setup program or executable file, I don't know how to install it. I suspect a simple overwrite of original files (in Windows folder) is NOT the way to install this. For all I know I need to use the .INF file to install but I have no idea how this is done.
Being a fairly advanced user yet never having come across this kind of problem before, I do recommend documentation of installation procedure be included in said file for other users' sake.
    Thanks in advance for replies!

You just caught me at the right time, with an easy question to answer!

  • Error when installing device drivers with 8.2 update

I get the following error when I try to install the updated drivers on the device driver CD set (this is when I first insert CD 1 and click install drivers).  I discovered this error when I was installing labview 8.2 and when I was installing it said to insert the device driver CD.  This error came up and when I subsequently tried to install it by itself I kept getting this error.  I also switched CD rom drives and it still gave the error.  Could the CD be corrupted??
    The error is:
    .\UberInstaller.cpp(1255): IInstallerError 10009
Fatal Error. Unable to create temporary file.
Unable to copy original D:\SupportFiles\resourceEng.dll to C:\DOCUME~1\LAPTOP~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\nii49D.tmp.
Windows Error Windows Error 23: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Any ideas??  Is it possible to download the set of drivers?  I know I can download them individually but it would be helpful to be able to download the 3 CD set.

    Hello,
This definitely looks like a CD and/or CD drive issue - I've seen similar.  If your CD drives were the same, you may try with another, although that's not necessarily helping you on your development machine.  Another thing to try is copying the contents of the CD to your hard drive, and installing from there.  This has the added benefit if/when you build installers in LabVIEW for your applications that IF you have to include additional installers (this is an option in the installer build spec) THEN they will be referenced from your hard drive INSTEAD of the CDs, which you would otherwise be prompted for... if you happen to have misplaced them, this can be a point of frustration!
    I hope this helps!

  • No update folder when installing mac drivers on windows

Okay... I love this forum so much. Any way i get an error when attempting to installing the exe file for the drivers install for windows xp pro sp2 (should be sp2 ill check to make sure).
The problem is when i do the auto run i get no update foldier to update windows xp. This download will now quit.
My question is can i just create this foldier and where does it go if i do. I do not know excatly how to fix this. So that is why im on here. Windows works fine other wise. I know i can manual install drivers but the exe file also contains the program to change the boot process and i just wanted becuase its on there. Besied that i got sound and video drivers working but i think theres drivers on there i dont need to install because i dont have that partical hardware installed and i dont want anything on there that i dont need so this is why im having this dilema. I would ask that if some one knows a work around or a solution thats great. If i have to reinstall windows then so be it but i dont have a lot of time after work (i work 12hr shifts where im at) so it causes me to want to sleep then mess with a computer. any way if you have any question ill try and answer as soon as possable. thanks for help ahead of time.

thanks for the responce but to answer your question. I am trying to run the setup.exe file inside of the leopard DVD when in windows. It does do an auto run and doesnt ask what i want to open it with. It just automatically tries to install. it does not open microsoft update/installer program.
The dvd says this will try and update windows to a newer version. Then right after i push ok it comes back with no update foldier.
the program im trying to run is on the leoperd DVD and is not on the internet(i dont have internet in the room im in).
I feel for you on the lack of sleep thing. But what im trying to do is when i put the DVD in to the computer while in windows. And the program tries to run to not come back with the above error. And to install all necceray stuff off of the DVD.
So that is why i asked do i need to make the following ajustments. Becuase i dont know what drivers that i need to install i know i need most of them and i know whats on that setup.exe file at the top of the directories on the DVD is something i need to.
So that is the current dilimea. I just need to get the DVD to be able to auto run with out this error. That is essentail the bottom line.
Did that some what clear up the issue for you?
P.S.(sorry i just saw what i previosly typed. The installer comes back with the installer will now quit. Not download.) This is happening while in the EXE file that is automatically run when the leoperd DVD is inserted into the computer.

  • Bluescreen when installing DR4-A

Does ANYBODY know why my win xp bluescreens after I update the firmware in my dr4-a? I had the same problem installing it into the computer after I bought the blippin' dr4 too, I don't know just how I managed to get it installed but I was very close to taking it back to the store after the 30th bluescreen..
So, I've got it working with f/w 2.30 but with 2.50 it's the same thing all over again: windows keeps freaking out and rebooting when it's trying to discover the "new" hardware and continues to do so no matter what I do..
If I downgrade it back to 2.30 it works again but that's just stupid.

    dvd: msi dr4-a

    os: win xp pro, sp1
Hope someone knows something. I've got a MSc in computer engineering and I'm stumped...

Hey, thanks for your input. However, my psu is quite sufficient. As I said: the drive works with f/w 2.30. Any other thoughts?

So yeah, basically using autoupdate or manual download gives the same install, that doesn't like my soundcard.
When doing auto update it finds this:
Sound Blaster Audigy 2, DR release .84.50
but the install finds NOTHING.. HELP!!

Not positive here, but if your iPhone is using iOS 6, I think you need iTunes 10.7, which isn't available for Mac OS 10.5.
My new iPhone 5 isn't compatible with my iMac G5, fortunately I have a MacBookPro that is compatible.
    Sorry.

  • BSOD when installing Windows XP on ThinkPad x220

    Hi,
I have just bought a ThinkPad x220 (4293-AA6) with no OS installed. I am trying to install Windows XP (32-bit), but have not yet been successful.
I have carefully followed section in the User Guide called "Installing Windows XP", but this has not worked for me. In summary, the procedure I followed was:
In BIOS, set "Serial ATA (SATA)" to "AHCI",
Set "UEFI/Legacy Boot" to "Both" or "Legacy Only" (makes no difference to my problem)
Boot from Win XP SP2 CD
Press F6 when prompted, put the Lenovo "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver drivers" in floppy drive, and select "Intel MobileExpress Chipset SATA AHCI Controller". Drivers were extracted from this file: this file
    Continue the installation
The result is a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) just after the setup screen says "Setup is starting Windows", with the error message:
    "STOP: 0x0000007B (0xf78d2524,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)"
    Other things I have tried:
Followed the alternative procedure outlined in the User Guide, under "If you do not have a diskette drive..."
Updated the BIOS from 1.15 to 1.17
Ran memtest86+ (resulted in no errors)
Tried the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver" from the Intel website rather than the Lenovo website
Selected the "Intel 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" instead of the other one when installing the drivers
Tried using a WinXP SP3 CD instead of SP2
    Formatted the disk using diskpart
Installed Ubuntu 11.04 to the harddrive (successfully!!) then tried installing Windows XP again
But I always get the same BSOD.
I have also tried installing Windows 7 (64-bit), which also failed! It booted into the installation program, but then it stopped and said it couldn't find a driver for a CD/DVD drive. After installing the appropriate 64-bit Lenovo IRST driver and rebooting, this resulted in the following Blue Screen of Death: "STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003,..."
Is anyone able to help me with getting Windows (XP or even 7) installed? Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, and I'm happy to provide more information/tests if needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Roy

  • Unknown Hard Error when installing Windows XP?

Ok first off I tried installing Windows Vista Home Premium on my new 24in iMac and after installation had problems installing drivers. Found out it was because I had a 64 bit version of Vista and the iMacs dont support that. Then I got a copy of XP Home Service Pack 3 from a friend to try. Im not sure if it is 32 or 64 bit but I was going to try it anyways. Its starts to extract the files and get ready for the install but not long after it does that it gives me an unknown error and the blue screen of death.
    "STOP: c0000221 Unknown Hard Error
    \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll"
Does anyone know what this means? I would really like to get one of them installed. I dont care which one...if anyone knows how I can put a 64bit version of Vista on my iMac that would probably be best since it installed fine and just messed up when installing the drivers. Otherwise can anyone tell me what to do about this unknown error? Or do I need to search around for yet another operating system cd?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi KadeP,
there is indeed not a solution for that CD-problem, since you are getting it when installing from the CD not after the installation, when there is a problem with that specific file on your harddisk.
So, apart from the checking of the CD for physical problems (dirt, dust, scratches) the only other solution would be the use of another CD and maybe doing a full disc-copy of that CD onto a CD-R or CD-RW and hoping the best.
As for the Vista procedures the hatter described, all these has to be done before even installing Vista and also on a Windows PC.
The outcome of that would be a modified Vista Installation DVD, which seems to be installing even on iMacs not really supported.
Since I don't have Vista I never tried it myself, though.
But the hatter is 'our local Vista/Windows 7 genius'
As for the 'old XP CD' you found:
such behaviour/error is usually a sign that the XP CD is not at Service Pack level 2 (SP2) which is a must for XP CDs.
However, you can use these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp to 'slipstream' yourself a XP SP2 installation CD.
But again, you have to do it on a running Windows PC.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Bluescreen of death installing camera drivers

Hi! When I plug in my iPhone, the regular synch part works, etc, but for some reason, whenever I try to go ahead and let it install the drivers for the camera, I get as far as "This driver is not certified - continue?" dialog box, and shortly after I click continue, the computer dies with the bluescreen of death.

If so either removing that software or updating it to the latest version from logitech may get you past this issue.

  • Blue Screen of Death when I try to install Leopard drivers.

So, I've been able to use Boot Camp to install Windows XP, SP 2 on my new 20-inch aluminum iMac. This is the same version (same disk, in fact) of Windows that I installed on my old 17-inch iMac, and it worked perfectly then.
After I finish the Windows installation, and put the Leopard disk in to install the drivers, nothing happens. No Autoplay. When I go into My Computer, and double-click on the cd, the installation process starts. After cycling through 4 drivers, I get the blue screen of death and the computer reboots.
When everything restarts, Windows tells me that I suffered an error. I can't send an error report off, because Windows won't acknowledge my wireless internet connection yet, without the Apple drivers.
I've tried to transfer the Boot Camp 2.1 update to the Windows partition via 2g flash drive, and no luck. Trying to run the update doesn't do anything, the icon simply lights up for a moment and then un-highlights. Nothing happens.
I'm really confused, I didn't have ANY problems like this on my last iMac. Any help anyone might have would be greatly appreciated.

There IS another way to try this.
Boot to Windows and right-click My Computer or My Documents and open as "explore". Insert the Leopard disk. If it offers to install STOP it. Click on the LEFT side the plus sign next to the machine's DVD drive icon (the reason we opened the "explore" style directory). The Boot Camp files are now passive but exposed. Next right click My Computer and click properties. Next hardware and then device manager. Now you can one-by-one install the drivers using Windows hardware wizard. You might even want to drag the contents of the Leopard disk (drivers) right on to your (Windows) "desktop". In device manager open Human Interface Devices - you will find Apple Keyboard or whatever an iMac has there. Rightclick and hit Update Driver - the Wizard opens. Click 'no - not this time' and continue. Click 'install from a specific location' and continue. Next the Wizard gives you a 'browse location' option. Just click around until you locate the Boot Camp drivers in your disk or desktop and proceed - it will update, I promise you.
