X86 install - No Dump Device Configured

Hi
I tried to install Solaris 8 (x86) on my PII-300 machine with 192MB. However, when I install the Solaris 8, I don't even have a chance to create partition or whatsoever, I got an error sth like "No dump device configured" and it reboots automatically and the whole installation process starts over again after it successfully detected my hardware. Does anybody know what happen? I put my harddisk on primary master IDE with my CD-ROM drive on secondary master IDE.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thx.

you need a swap partition on this machine.

  • Skipping system dump : no dump device configured

    Hi all!
I am new to Solaris, please understand. I receive the following message "skipping system dump : no dump device configured" and my system reboots. After reboot, the system repeats the initial installation.
    My IDE config:
Primary Master - disabled (power disco'd from 8.4GB with W98)
Primary Slave - enabled 3.8GB hdd, no format, no partition - this is the drive i want to install to
    Secondary Master - none
Secondary Slave - CD drive that boots
I have checked the HCL, my system is compatible.
I have used the installer cd & disk 1 to no avail.
Do I need to format my hdd that i want to install solaris on before i run the installer?
    if so, how?
I have tried to create a boot disk but it failed. DD.EXE - does it need to need to be executed in a true DOS mode?
any help would be greatly appreciated, i will monitor this thread.
    thanks!

I was having the same proplem as u but now Im just a few steps infront.
I found a sorta fix by searching this forum. It got me past the initial system reboots anyway. I've only installed one cd so far and now Im back cause of more problems - so don't expect it to get any easier ;)
Anyway check out this link. It goes on about P4s but apparently other systems are affected too e.g. I have a PII.

  • Can I install more than one configurator profile

I want to develop 3 or maybe 4 layers of iPad iOS8 restrictions & Passcode rules.
For example ALL iPads will have enforced Passcode rules, but only SOME iPads ill require content filtering & SOME require Control centre in lock mode.
The actual working groups of iPads require a lot more complicated set of config elements - above is only an example.
I'd like to create & install different profiles & INSTALL MORE THAN ONE PROFILE.
I have tested this on a few iPads & it seems to work.
My question is - Is this the recommended way / is there a problem if i install more that one profile ?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kind Regards
    George kennedy.

We install many configuration profiles on each of our devices. We only use one payload per configuration profile so that we can be very granular with our configurations. What I don't know is what would happen if you installed 2 configuration profiles with conflicting restrictions (i.e. one configuration profile allows Messages, and another does not allow Messages). We just make sure we install only one restrictions configuration profile, and then a bunch of other configuration profiles (mail and calendar settings, web clips, WiFi profiles, etc) on each device.
    Hope this helps!

  • Error in Device configuration

    Hi all
I get the following error when trying to add the mobile components to the created Device Configuration.
    com.sap.ip.mi.admin.core.ApplicationException:Field SEQUENCE_NO not a member of MEMGMT_APPLICATIONS_STR
Had any one had this kind of problem. Please advice
    Thanks, Raj

First of all check whether your JCo RFC provider service is configured in your J2EE engine. This you can check by going to Visual Admin. In your server, got to usr\sap\<instancename>\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\admin and double click go.bat. Then login as J2EE_admin. Go to services in the cluster tab ->JCo RFC Provider and see whether your ABAP stack is configured.
1.If it is not, then login to NWA through your browser as J2ee admin, go to Administration->Deploy and Change-> Select MI Scenario and then select option 02 from the Template drop down list box, click on "Execute Template" Give the necessary details in the different text boxes and click install. Do the same for option 03 and 04.
2.If your Jco RFC Provider service is already configured/or you did the above step, log into your ABAP client through SAP Logon with the User which has all sap privileges - dont use ddic or SAP*. Then goto transaction SE11 click on DATA type, type MEMGMT_APPLICATIONS_STR and click Display. Check for the field SEQUENCE_NO. If it is not there, then click on Display/Change. Here you may require an access key - ask your Basis Administrator/Consultant for the same. Add the particular field to the structure and probably....your problem will be solved.
Edit: The type of the field is :
    Component Type: NUM6
    Datatype : NUMC
    Length: 6
Short Text: Numerical Character Field of Length 6

  • Anonymous device configuration in CCM 3.3(2)

    Hi,
I want to configurate gatekeeper in CCM3.32 but I cannot find the place to put anonymous device if I compare with previous version of 3.2. Also, I cannot associate the gatekeeper to the route pattern as well? Pls adv.

I think the ability for putting an anonymous device is removed in 3.3. In Call Manager 3.3, the mechanism for installing an "anonymous device" has been completely replaced. There is no longer any place to create an "anonymous device" , rather there is a place to configure gatekeeper and then a new menu item to create intercluster trunks that are gatekeeper controlled.

  • X86 Install failure on Dell Laptop

I'm quite familiar with Solaris 8 and have done numerous installs
including dual boot on x86, and jumpstarts on Ultras.
I am trying to install x86 on a Dell CPX H500gt laptop. 5 gigs space, 256 mb ram. Plenty of resources. No problems with setting up
the bios, and telling it to boot into the Solaris install menu. (from 1
    of 2 cd)
    My problem is this:
When I get to the language preference question, my keyboard mapping is
shot. I've tried numlock off and on, and used 3 different keyboards.
Laptop keyboard out of docking station, and two different keyboards
    while the Dell is docked.
Funny thing is, the mapping is fine until the point where the install
program wants language preferences entered. I tried various keys and the
whole mapping of the keys on the board is off.
As I mentioned, in the earlier phase of the install program, when it
asks if you want Jumpstart, the mapping is fine. I did not have this
problem on my x86 install on my tower, (same keyboard tested as bad on
the Dell) and used the exact same cd's (1 of 2) that sun sent.
So I tried to configure Jumpstart to get around the mapping. Booted the
Dell bios to boot from the network using BOOTP, which is the core
protocol that Jumpstart uses. No go. Used the procedure from the Sun
Admin 2 class, it is proven to work on an Ultra environment. No go on
    x86 though.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks much,
    Sam

This is a known issue with hotplugging. There are 2 choices you have
    1) Install xf86-input-evdev and hal and dbus (if you haven't already)
    2) Disable hotpluggin completely.

What happen to intall Mavericks of my case? Please HELP! THANKS!

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, and it's not already backed up, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Missing commands/utilities after version 10-x86 install

I've had more problems installing version 10-x86 than any other version I can recall (most SPARC/x86 since version 6).
I downloaded and created the installation set (4 CDs) from the ISO images. The first problem was that it couldn't run the gui because the box had only 255 MB RAM (it needed 400). Because of that (even when I specified the console txt installation), the rest of the installation seemed gimped.
The install used very little of disc 2, nothing from disc 3 and practically nothing from disc 4. When I finally finished the installs, I find that there is no man command or tcsh shell on the system. I downloaded the source for tcsh and attempted the ./configure only to find out that I have no assembler (as).
Where can I obtain either installable downloads for man and as? Was there supposed to be a companion or utility CD that was not in the 4 disc download?
Thanks in advance for any clues.

I downloaded the current version (Solaris 10 - x86 Platform - Solaris 10 1/06 Operating System) and selected full installation.
The commands are not in the directories. I looked on a SPARC 10 install to find the correct locations and could not find them on the x86 install using:
ls -l /bin/tcshNor were they anywhere on the system using:
find / -name tcsh -print I just read the post before mine about the missing man command and will try using pkgadd from the various CDs.

  • Cannot install in your devices country

We have just purchasedan Asus Transformer tablet which claims to have support for flash so we tried to download it from the app market but is says it cannot be installed in the devices country. We contacted android market and they say it is the developer not allowing installation in our country. We successfully downloaded on Android 2.1 on another device but cannot do it on this Android 3 device. Please help as this renders the device useless if we cannot have flash and we thought flash player was available worldwide?

I'm getting a very similar result trying to run  updateNIDrivers  on a 2.6.12 kernel (see my post on Re: NI DAQmx Base on Debian). Does this have to do with a specific kernel version or configuration?
I posted my error message here
    - I'm getting the same error for the patched kernel that came with the
linux distribution (ubuntu) and a vanilla kernel. I tried gcc version
2.95, 3.4 and 4.0 but - as mentioned - with the same result. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

  • Getting Error while creating device configuration (Schema Node ref problem)

    Hi,
    In MDM 2.0.1, I created the following(in order) :
    1.UOM
    2.Measuring Component Type
    3.Device Configuration Type
    4.Service Provider
    5.Device Type
    6.Device
But when trying to Configure the created Device, its showing some error as...
Schema node isNewCase (/schema/[includeDA F1-CommonToDoEntryData]/isNewCase) references non-existent service field NEW_CASE_SW.
After this has happened, i couldn't even add another configuration to some of my Existing Devices..
(But for Some existing devices, adding a new configuration doesn't throwing errors..)
    Please help regarding this...

Is the Measuring Component Type u created is added in DeviceType's ConfigType list..?

Yes, you can install 16GB in your new macbook pro.
Go here (OWC) and here (Crucial) to give you options on how much you want to spend.
    Good luck.
