Xbox 360 controllers : gamepad plugged but still "no devices found" ?

You have a Mac running on Lion or Mountain Lion, you have download the app http://files.tattiebogle.net/360/360ControllerInstall.dmg from :
http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver
You have done everything right but when you plug your gamepad (official microsoft Xbox 360 controller only, I used a wired gamepad so, I don't assure you it will work with wireless), there are still "no devices found" ?
Fortunately for you, I have finaly found a way to make it work, without buying anything else.
First, go see the following MacRumors topic :
     http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1327396
Follow the instructions (and when I mean follow, I mean follow exactly !)
At the 9th step, you have to enter the information about your device to make your computer recognize the information (I say it the simpler way)
Each paragraph correspond to a specific kind of device. For example :
Feedback360.plugin</string>
                                                                      </dict>
                                                                      <key>IOClass</key>
                                          <string>Xbox360ControllerClass</string>
                                                                      <key>IOKitDebug</key>
                                                                      <integer>65535</integer>
                                                                      <key>IOProviderClass</key>
                                                                      <string>IOUSBDevice</string>
                                                                      <key>idProduct</key>
                                                                      <integer>18264</integer>
                                                                      <key>idVendor</key>
                                                                      <integer>1848</integer>
                                                  </dict>
                                                  <key>BigBenController</key>
                                                  <dict>
                                           <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
                                                                      <string>com.mice.driver.Xbox360Controller</string>
                                                                      <key>IOCFPlugInTypes</key>
                                                                      <dict>
                                                                                          <key>F4545CE5-BF5B-11D6-A4BB-0003933E3E3E</key>
                                                                                          <string>360Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/
Correspond to the "BigBenController" device infomation with the product and vendor ID.
After the 10th step, copy the previously bigbencontroller paragraph, paste it between two devices (exactly like the others) and change that :
Feedback360.plugin</string>
                                                       </dict>
                                                       <key>IOClass</key>
                                          <string>Xbox360ControllerClass</string>
                                                       <key>IOKitDebug</key>
                                                       <integer>65535</integer>
                                                       <key>IOProviderClass</key>
                                                       <string>IOUSBDevice</string>
                                                       <key>idProduct</key>
                                                       <integer>yourIDProduct</integer>
                                                       <key>idVendor</key>
                                                       <integer>yourIDVendor</integer>
                                       </dict>
                                       <key>TheNameOfYourDevice</key>
                                       <dict>
                                           <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
                                                       <string>com.mice.driver.Xbox360Controller</string>
                                                       <key>IOCFPlugInTypes</key>
                                                       <dict>
                                                                     <key>F4545CE5-BF5B-11D6-A4BB-0003933E3E3E</key>
                                                                     <string>360Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/
Finish the instructions and, if everything's right, it should work

I'm getting the same thing. Did you ever resolve this? I'm also using the wireless controller.
Also, how do I keep the green guide button from constantly blinking? And, how do you turn off the controller?
Thanks for the info!
And in case anyone cares, it works great with Cave Story. Just plug and play, no setup needed. Haven't tried it with anything else yet.
EDIT:
Found the answer to my own questions at...
http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/HOWTO_Xbox_ … controller
No info on the mouse thing tho.
Nope, haven't found any solution yet but I would love to do so! Dmesg gives:
usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2

If there is anything else needed to help me, i'll get it.
Edit:
Got it working now, use this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Get … ns_Working guide and then it works

  • XBox 360 Gamepad

I installed Snow Leopard today, but after installation, my MadCatz XBox360 game pad no longer works. I never had this problem before! I tried reinstalling the driver, but I get a message that says "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail." I unplugged the pad, then plugged it back in; the power light in the middle of the pad flashed on, but then flicked off. The system profiler lists a "MadCatz GamePad" under "Keyboard Hub," but the details below say that it has not been configured. Is there any way to get Snow Leopard to recognize this game pad, or do I have to go back to regular Leopard if I want to use it? Snow Leopard is not a necessity, so I won't cry if I don't have it on my Mac.
Thanks for any and all help!!!!!

Okay, I think I have this down. While this may not be the prettiest installer, it does work (for me at least...) It is a shell script, and is pasted below.

    0. Disconect all Xbox 360 controllers and receivers.
    1. Copy and paste this into TextEdit and save as 360ControllerInstall.sh in the Desktop.
    2. Open Terminal.app
    3. In the Terminal, type
    cd Desktop (press return)
    sudo sh 360ControllerInstall.sh (press return)
    4. It will now ask you for an administrator password. Type it and press return.
    5. The installer will run. Wait at least three minutes after it completes.
    6. Connect a wired controller or a wireless one via the receiver.
    7. Open the "Xbox 360 Controllers" preference pane in System Preferences and verify that the controller(s) is(/are) recognized.
If the controllers are not recognized, wait a little longer and try again. If it doesn't work after that, try rebooting.
Mac OS X may occasionally complain that the kernel extension is incompatible. Ignore this, as it should work properly.
If it doesn't work at all, post the 360ControllerDiag.txt that the installer generates as well as the Terminal output.
UPDATE: If you don't want to go through this setup, it appears that the developer will be updating the drivers to officially support Snow Leopard.

If you've e-mailed I'll try to reply, but I've had lots. I'll get a Snow Leopard-compatible version of the driver released just as soon as I've managed to install it (hampered due to lack of disk space).

  • Xbox 360 and WRT54G v8 SBC Ameritech

I have done extensive searching on this forum and many others to no avail. I cannot get my xbox 360 to find an IP address. I have the router setup and can get internet from all of my PC's and Mac's through it. I am wondering if the problem is the modem from SBC - it is an Efficient Speedstream 5260 and if I hook the Xbox 360 directly to it with the PPoE settings typed in, it still will not find an IP. Thought that going through the router might solve that. Weirdest thing is the first couple tests I did through the Xbox dashboard passed every test, but still could not connect to Live, and now it will not go farther than the failed IP test. Problem is that where I am I cannot upgrade my modem because I cannot risk all the problems I had getting this 5260 to work. By day it is my work internet, and I can't afford to be down even for a day. So I am hoping there is a fix for the equipment I have.

    Hi,
Try assigning a static IP address on XBOX as following:
    IP:192.168.1.10
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    gateway:192.168.1.1
    Hope it works for you

  • Airport G5 iMac Xbox 360 wirless problem *Please Help*

Hi - I was hoping that somebody might be able to give me a few hints about how to get Xbox 360live to work on a wireless network with my G5 imac.
I want the Xbox running downstairs with the iMac upstairs. I have tested it wired and it works fine. But wireless I cannot get a connection.
    Here is what I have:
Sky Broadband connection. I have a Sky wireless router. I have enabled airport on my iMac and have put the relevant info into the Internet Connect window. It indicates a strong signal. I have bought an Wireless Adapter for the Xbox 360 and attached it but it does not seem to pick up a signal when I run the test.
I moved the Xbox to the same room as the iMac to see if distance was the issue but again no connection was detected. This is when I wired it directly to the router to see if it worked this way and it does.
I really need wireless though so please if anybody has cracked this problem let me know.
    Cheers
    Martin

Since your iMac is able to get a good wireless signal, you know the 2Wire wireless router is working properly. On the other hand, the XBox wireless adapter under the same conditions sees absolutely no signal. My conclusion from this would be that either (a) the XBox wireless adapter is not functional, or (b) you are making some fundamental error in setup of the adapter.
Since this is a wireless networking problem between two non-Apple products, you might see if product support for your XBox wireless adapter can provide further assistance.

  • Router xbox 360 issues

Ok heres my problem, I'm trying to connect to Xbox live using a wireless router. Now i dont know what i'm missing so hopefully someone can help me out. The 360 detects the network, it starts to connect and does then it goes to the third test, the ip address and for whatever reason it doesnt work and it flips back to the second test and says its not connected. So what is it thats missing for the ip address, do i have to change the address on the 360 to match the wireless router?

Are you using mac address filtering, if so make sure you've added both the mac address of the wireless device and the xbox 360. I'm having a similar problem even though I've added both mac addresses, mine works fine when the mac address filtering is disabled but as soon as I enable it the xbox 360 loses its connection but everything else on my system is OK.

  • Unreal Tournament 2004 + XBOX 360 controller

So, here it the thing ...
    I have a MacBook with 1GB RAM.
I recently purchased Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT2004) and I have the most recent patch.
To control said game, I am using an XBOX 360 wired controller and the (generally) excellent driver found here.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29122
The thing is: It does not (entirely) work with UT2004!
It works beautifully with any emulators, so I know that the driver "works." I can even see what the buttons map to (i.e. ... D-Pad UP = Button 12, Left Analog UP/Down = Y-Axis, etc...). I just cannot figure out how to get UT to accept this information. The Left Analog does work, which means that I know the game can recognize the controller.
When I go to the controller setup in UT, it does not seem to want to recognize the controller though, despite the fact that the Left Analog IS working!
I know that this is kind of a fringe problem, but any help would be great.

i'm trying to use a madcatz controller on the mac but it turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. the system profiler picks it up as a xbox 360 gamepad but says its not been configured. how can i allow my self use this with my games!

I have exactly the same problem.
I'm a little peed-off with Microsoft on this. The original wireless controller I have doesn't work either since the cable I'm using is 'just' the charge and play cable, so a direct connection to my Mac won't work with this cable. It's a cable for god's sake. Why on EARTH put any limitations on this!?!?
Next I learn I need an additional USB wireless receiver from Microsoft to get my original 360 controller to talk to my Mac. As I certainly don't want to fork any more microsoft dollars on this, this is not an option.
Next I think, yes! I have a MadCatz 360 wired USB controller. This should surely do the trick just plugging it in and the way I go. But oh no, for some reason I plug my MadCatz Xbox360 controller in, it flashes a few times then switches off and can't be turned on again.
The System Profiles recognizes it as a MadCatz 360 device controller but that is about it, but the ontroller software I download for the System Prefs (360Controller, USBOverdrive etc) don't even recognize the controller as being plugged in.
What the **** Is The Microsoft Deal with all of this!?!?
PS: Oh, and I forgot to mention, there are No drivers for device 4716 that I can find on the MadCatz website, or am I going blind?
If anyone has a link, it would be appreciated.

  • Xbox 360 gamepad is controlling the mouse!?

Hi everyone, scince the last kernel upgrade it seems like there is support for xbox 360 gamepads out of the box. I thought that I could just start playing games with my psx emulator but that was not the case. Once i connected the controller (I have the wireless one) it started to controll my mouse with one of the analog sticks. This might be a good thing for people who want to use their gamepads as a mouse but i'm guessing most people don't want that Anyways, any idea how to turn this shit off?

Dmesg gives:
usb 4-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
usb 4-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
input: Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver as /class/input/input6

input: Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver as /class/input/input8
input: Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver as /class/input/input9
usbcore: registered new interface driver xpad
    xpad: X-Box pad driver
If there is anything else needed to help me, i'll get it.
    Edit:
Got it working now, use this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Get … ns_Working guide and then it works

  • Thinking of buying an Xbox 360, but not sure if I'll be able to connect...

So, as the title says, I'm thinking of trying to get an Xbox 360, but I don't know if I'll be able to connect wirelessly to our Time Capsule with the Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter.
I've been reading the most recent threads on here that I could, and some say you can connect wirelessly now as of July and the 7.3.2 update, yet other threads say it doesn't work. What should I believe? I really don't want to spend the $400+ on the Xbox, only to find I can't take it online.
Does the Microsoft wireless adapter connect to the Time Capsule yet? Or if it doesn't, what would be my best bet for a wireless adapter?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with this.

    hello.
i have a similar question. i have a 360 in my basement. my imac and modem and router are upstairs on the first floor. the 360 has a ethernet cable that comes with it. can i use that and purchase an airport express to connect to the network? After plugging the ethernet cable into the airport express, would that work? Or would I need more hardware (sorry if I seem computer illiterate, but i'm not familiar with networking)?
ive been reading these forums and a lot of people say that they have time capsule or airport base station. do i need these too in order to connect to the internet, even though I already have a Linksys wireless router? Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Can only get XBOX 360 to work by unplugging and then plugging in ethernet cable?

I have 2 desktop computers, 1 laptop computer and 1 Xbox 360 using this WRT54GS ver 6 router.  The desktops and the xbox are wired and the laptop is wireless.  I replaced my old linksys router which I never had a problem with for this one.  If my desktop computer is turned off and I turn on my XBOX, the router does not recognize the Xbox.  I mean the XBOX is plugged into port 3 and that light does not flash on the router.  Now, if I turn on my computer and then turn on my xbox, it still doesn't work.  If I turn on my computer, turn on my XBOX and then unplug the xbox ethernet cable from the back of the router and then plug it back in, then the router recognizes it and it works great.  I have had 2 chat sessions and I phone session with linksys and they cannot figure it out.  They had me go into my xbox and set a static IP address, gateway and DNS.  Then she had me go into forward a few ports on the router.  I never had to do any of this stuff with the old router by the way.  The last guy I talked to on the phone said I need to figure out a way to turn off "MAC Address cloning" in the xbox.  I checked  and there is no way to do this, so I think he is wrong about this.  Does anyone have ANY ideas as to why this problem is happening?

I had the same problem and I just typed my settings in manually on my xbox 360's network settings.(IP, and DNS).
