Xcelsius in BPC7.5NW

Hi Friends,
I would like to know usage of BO object like xcelsius in BPC NW7.5 SP04. I know how to use xcelius tool on versions like  XI31. Could anyone guide how to integrate xcelsius tool in BPC7.5 NW,  Connection environment,.What are prerequistites?
In our SAP landscape, we have BO tools & Dataservices. I don't have BO background.

Hi Naresh,
Please refer to EPM connector guide and 'Extended Analytics' guide to get a knowledge on the installation steps.
We could read and write the data from and to BPC cubes. Extended Analytics is available with SAP BPC licenses itself as per the integration documents.
Extended Analytics will be added as an 'add-on' to the excel menu like 'Planning and Consolidation'.
Above mentioned guides would have further details how to install EPM add-on.

    May I know if it is possible to increase the maximum length of default dimension properties, such as ID and EvDescription? I know we can set the property length in "Modify Dimension Property". However, I don't see those default dimension properties under this functionality, in my case, the ID.

    Hi,
    No! you can not change Ienghts of all properties. If the dimension is standard then you can not change any of the standard properties. If the dimension is user defined then you can not change ID,Description and Scaling.
    Default length for ID is 20 chars and  Description is 60 chars.

  • BPC7.5NW Reporting - EVDRE: AfterRange adding double rows!

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem formatting a BPC 7.5 EVDRE report. I want put a blank row, with border top and bottom between my account expansions (GSV, Tonnes, Cases, other units etc)
    This is what my report looks like:

    The pink cells are the EVAFTER cells, for which there are only 1 row specified in the Expansion configuration area. I have made them pink so they are obvious where it is populating them.
    What I want is to make it so that each section on the report (starting Cases, then Tonnes, then GSV) have borders on the bottom, as well as a completely white space as a gap (no fill, no vertical borders)
    Any advice would be much appreciated,

    I have found an OSS note for this issue:

    The resolution is to upgrade to BPC 7.5 SP11. Unfortunately we don't do this now so I'm trying to get a fix pushed through.

  • BPC7.5NW - Work Status SAP Best Practices

    Hello Experts,
    I would like to get your expert opinion on the Work Status settings.
    Usually, we configure work status settings at the Application Set and Application levels.  At the application level, we do the configuration to lock down the data region based on the dimensions present in the Application Set.  SAP help website says that between 3 and 5 dimensions are enough to define a data region and lock it.
    I would like to know if there is an SAP best practice, that guides the user about what dimension types to use?  For example, 'C' type, 'E' type and 'T' type, etc.

    Hi,
    It would mainly driven by your user requirements. Generally you would have entity, time and category in the work status. Entity is used if you want users to set the status to 'submitted' for example, for their entities. Apart from these three if you beleive there is a reason for you to include your datasource for example, you can specify. You cannot use the account dimension though.
    Generally Entity,Cat & time are the common ones. Please let me know if you need any further details.

    When running the Data Manager Package to import Master Data, under the 'Set Selection', there's a selection "Set Filters by Attributes and Hierarchies" OR "Set Filters by Attributes or Hierarchies". May I know:
    1. What is the functionality of this selection?
    2. What is the difference between these 2 options?

    I noticed Attributes & Hierarchy option is working as intersection of those selections while bringing text(descriptions)
    and Attributes or Hierarchy option is working as union of those selections. So with first option there are chances that texts(evdescription) for Text nodes(which does not exist in attributes table but exist in Hierarchy as folders) missing(not transferred to BPC). So Attributes or hierarchy option is pulling everything required with both the selections(attributes condition and Hierarchy condition).

    BPC 10 is currently under ramp-up. If i am not wrong, its GA date is sometimes Q1 2012. Check the SMP for more information about GA dates.
    There should be SP04 or SP05 already for EPM10. Again you can find more information about this on patches & upgrades on service.sap.com

    Below is my code:

    When i run the above logic in debugger TMVL doesn't show next month.
    If i hardcode time in my xdimmemberset to (*XDIM_MEMBERSET Z_TIME=2009.JAN) and change my TMVL in my REC statement to TMVL(1,2009.JAN)).Logic works fine.
    Please tell me how can we pass dynamic variables to TMVL.

    My logic needs to copy values from HC_PLAN (parent) to CHC. I have written ope_bal logic in MS version.
    In NW i cannot use next (i am using TMVL),calc_dummy_org,calc_each_period.
    Please tell me how can i get values from a parent (HC_PLAN).
    Is Calculate_Difference is supported in BPC7.5NW?

  • BPC - EVDRE error - values on YEAR level do not appear

    Hi everyone.
    I have a Time dimension with YEAR, QUARTER and MONTH level.
    When I do an EVDRE report and I select an especific YEAR (ex. 2011) and I set the MemberSet Expansion to SELF, it didn´t bring any value.
    On the other hand, when I set SELF, DEP or even SELF,DEP,BAS, the values on the QUARTER and MONTH cells appear just fine!
    PS: The Option SumParent is blank.
    I've done a test with EVGET, selecting TIME:2011, and it brings the value with no problem. So this proves that the Time Hierarchy is working fine, and the problem is on EVDRE.
    Any sugestions?

    I also facing similar issue(bpc7.5nw sp10) i'm getting only at base level,  not at parent level(quarter/year).
    In your case quarter is working.

  • APO DP: currency conversion with CURR_CONV_FAC

    Dear DP experts,
    we have currently a problem  that is described in a similar thread, however the solution is not yet clear.
    Demand planning: Change currency in unit column with a macro function?
    We are using the currency conversion: on planning book, top left corner - right mouse button - UoM - Set - In currency field put USD. (*) The planning area currency is RUB. To work with USD, the program takes the currency exchange rate of today. However we need to use the currency exchange rate that is maintained in SPRO on a monthly basis.
    We were advised by SAP that it is a program limitation and there is a macros CURR_CONV_FAC to make currency conversion based on periods.
    As we want to keep the conversion functionality  as is (*), did anyone try to implement the conversion in such a way and could help us with advice?
    For example , we think that this macros
    1) has to be DEFAULT,
    2) has to find the planning area currency
    3) has to read the new currency from the UoM column
    4) has to recognize that the currency change event has to happen.
    5) has to be allways called after setting the new currency.
    There are some doubts that this can work, can anyone advise?

    We are in the process of upgrading BPC7.5NW to BPC10.0 NW.
    1) I am validating the below Currency Conversion script in BPC10.0:-

    Any clue why currency conversion is not picking any records??

  • Unable to preview Xcelsius result

    Dear BPC Expert,
    I used BPC 7.5NW SP06, Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP04, EPM Connector SP05, ODBO SP05, and Adobe flash player 11 in our system. I created a simple Xcelsius report which is only contain BPC Data Grid, linear graph, and refresh button with EPM connection. When I click preview button in Xcelsius console, only the white screen and the word "Initializing" appear. I also tried to export into pdf file and I get same result screen. But, when I delete the refresh button and EPM connection and click preview button in xcelsius console, I can see the result well.
    My question is why I could not see the result when I put refresh button with EPM connection ?

    OK, so the issue is with the connections. It might be a time-out problem. Does the issue occur even if you only have one LO connection that doesn't fetch much data?
    Or it might be an authentication issue (I can't imagine how though). What authentication are you using?
    As previously mentioned, make sure you're working with FP3.5 in case it's a known issue and has been fixed. If you don't have the ability to upgrade, check the fixed issues list for FP3.5.
    What is your workflow? Are you creating your live office connections in Excel, then importing the spreadsheet?

  • Refresh of Data in Xcelsius from Web Intelligence Results

    Hello,
    I am new to the forum but not to Business Objects/Xcelsius.  I attended the SAP Sapphire Event last May and spent time in the Business Objects lab.  Two Product Managers demonstrated how I would be able to refresh the data in an Xcelsius dashboard using Live Office by retreiving results from a Webi document without refreshing the Webi query. 
    For example, my Webi document contains 100,000 result rows.  I want to be able to select a dropdown in my dashboard and have Live Office retreive only a subset of the 100,000 rows.  This being done without having the Webi query being refreshed from the database.  The Webi query would be refreshed nightly.
    The Product Managers advised that this functionality would be available in Service Pack 3 or before.  As of now I cannot find out how to make this work.  Any help or information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    WebIntelligence Input Controls are a way to enhance and customize user experience with report filters, they are therefore based on report filters and the feature is more focused on user interface & experience rather than exposition outside web intelligence.
    Anyway, AFAIK, report filters are not available from Live Office report parts, you can only filter content with prompts, which requires the document to be refresh from the database, which has a direct impact on performance and scalability for consumers.
    However, if you are with WebIntelligence XI 3.1 SP2 you have the alternative to publish from WebI Rich Client, report elements (any table or chart) as web services (called BI Services).
    This tool is based on Qaaws technology, and share some of its features (main being that is uses the same Xcelsius Data Manager connection), it exposes a large part of WebI interactions to external consumers (esp. Xcelsius) : report filters, drill, prompts.
    Besides this tool provides a set of call input parameters to tune web service consumption for best performance and scalability, enabling to leverage WebI document management features like scehduling, publishing and refresh, so consumers can balance performance with real-time data.
    More information is available from WebIntelligence Rich Client user documentation from section sharing webi content with other web applications.
    I recommend you install the latest fix pack (SP2.5 and above), as some initial fixes were required to ensure full compatibility with Xcelsius.

  • Open document issue using Xcelsius WIH 00013

    All,
    I have Open Document that behaves correctly when I copy and paste it into address bar of a browser. It also works fine when I try to connect from one Webi report to another (so far so good). But when I use the link in Xcelsius, via a URL component, I get the following message:
    Invalid Session: Please close your browser and logon again. (WIH 00013)
    Previous posts on forumtopics.com suggests that this is a Tomcat time out issue. However, other open document calls from other Xcelsius dashboards with open document work without issue. Has anyone seen this before? I have included the hyperlink text. Please note long prompt text is courtesy of a BEx query in BW .

    The same settings in the infoviewapp web.xml must be applied on the opendocument web.xml. Also you must be on XI 3.1 FP1 or higher. There is currently an Edge issue being investigated.

  • List View in Xcelsius and truncated lines

    Hi @ all,
    I use a List View in Xcelsius 2008 and sometimes, when the text is longer
    than the column width, unfortunately the text is truncated then.
    Is it possible to have then automatically two lines if the text is longer than the column width?
    That was the reason why I wanted to use the “Input Text Area”. But I cannot use
    the Input Text Area if I have more than 1 destination cell.
    Can you help me here?

    You try to change or adjust the field lengths as shown below.
    In properities of the list view you can see the Push button " Configure Columns" Then change the length of the fields as you like.

  • Using a variable in an allocation routine in SAP BPC 7.5NW

    Below is a very simple BPC allocation routine I wrote.  The data originally sits on a dummy profit center and needs to be allocated to all itu2019s relevant profit centers. These relevant profit centers can be derived from the profit center hierarchy (BPC_ + ID of entity).
    When I hardcode the Profitcenter and the entity, the routine works (as below). But what I really want is that it works variable as in the line that I commented out. Any idea whether this could work (BPC 7.5NW)  ? If not, I am afraid I need to go to ABAP, which is really a pitty

    It works now. I have implemented the below code (ENTITY needed to contain the variable as well). The relationship profitcenter and entity is very important as it derives the relevant profitcenters from the profit center hierarchy (e.g. all profitcenters under the legalentity node).
