Xcode updates not caching in Caching Server - non-whitelisted url denied.

I am running OS X Server 2.2.1 - Build 169.  (Mountain Lion).  I have the caching service enabled and it appears to have been working successfully - as I can see that updates from Apple are coming from my server when applied to multiple Macs.
There is a new update to XCode 4.6.3 that I have been applying to my Macs - and I am noticing that it is re-downloading from Apple each time - instead of using the cache.
If I look at the Caching Service log - I see an error for each time that I have applied the 4.6.3 update:
Request for non-whitelisted URL denied (http:10.0.x.x:50360)   (10.0.x.x is my my server)
HTTP Server:  Error 400 - Bad Requst (/)
Is this a problem with the caching server - or are Apple's developer tools intentionally not being cached?  The log does not tell me what url is being requested.

I have this exact problem too. Interestingly, I have this on my Mini server, then I've setup a caching server on my MacBook Pro and its the same. This log is from my MacBook Pro, its called badgerbookpro.local but its the same on the Mini server. Both are runing 10.8.3

  • Caching Server receives non-whitelisted requests

I run a OSX Caching Server on a 10.8.3 Mountain Lion System. While this update server solution works fine for most of the client computers, one client causes unusual requests:
    2013/04/01 09:51:36:104  Request for non-whitelisted URL denied (http://192.168.42.3:53783/)
THis message is generated from each attempt to access a Mac Appstore Download (this one was for the Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 update) and after using this URL, the client simply ignores the caching server and moves on downloading this assets from Apples source servers.
The client is a Protina MBP running the official 10.8.3 build.

  • One or more of the updates requested by Final Cut Server could not be...

We are getting the warning " One or more of the updates requested by Final Cut Server could not be applied. (one or more replacement file(s) had unexpected track settings.)" when a FCPv6.06 (possibly also FCPv7.0) project file is checked-out of Final Cut Server v1.5.1. The assets linked to the project are cached down successfully (this in not an XSAN environment) but opening the project alerts to some offline media files (not all) and we need to manually relink them to the assets in the Final Cut Server cache. All is good again until the project file is checked-out of FCSvr to another workstation.
Having a look at the path of the offline files it is referencing the path of the assets as they were on the previous editor's (different) workstation. None of our workstations have the same path to the Final Cut Server cache.
My understanding and experience is that FCSvr manages the paths for FCP linked assets and modifies the checked-out file's path to point to the workstation's FCSvr cache?
Can you tell me how I can resolve this issue?

I may have resolved this issue today or I'm at a stage where I can't replicate it. The problem may have been propagating from a within a template FCP project file we use to start our productions. I assume it was a corruption of the FCP file that FCSvr didn't recognise?

  • How to stop caching on the server

    Hello,
Can anyone please guide me as to how do we disable caching on the
portal server since the changes i am making in the JSP pages are not

I faced the same problem as you did.I went thru what Adrian advisesd and it works.Did
you update teh correct XML file?.In my case, the weblogic.xml file is whawt holds
    this property and resides in
    D:\wlportal4.0\applications\portal\dp2\WEB-INF\weblogic.xml
where 'dp2' is the sample portal iam working on.
    I hope this helps.

    Akshay,
Ok, now I understand your problem. What you need to do is to changethe
    JSP
operating parameters for this webapp. These parameters are found inthe
weblogic.xml file associated with your webapp. The reference for thejsp
descriptor element can be found here:
    http://edocs/wls/docs61/webapp/weblogic_xml.html#1012195
I think the parameter you need to change is pageCheckSeconds. Ifyou set
this to 0 then the page is checked every request.
    Hope this helps,
    Sincerely,
    Adrian.

    Akshay,
The design of the caching in portal is such that all changes should
    be
reflected immediately, even across a cluster. However there isone
outstanding issue around a performance enhancement for the anonymoususer
case, where this cache is not updated unless the associated .portal
    file
    is
datasynced. So for changes to the default group either test with
    a
    logged
    in
user of this group or do a datasync to clear the cache.
If this does not solve your problem please let us know.
    Sincerely,
    Adrian.

  • Mavericks update not listed in software updates on server

I have several Mac clients enrolled with OS X server. They are set to look to this server for software updates to reduce bandwidth usage. When they search for the update, it is not available. The 10.9 update is not listed in Software Updates inside of OS X Server.app. Any ideas on how to import that so my users can download it?

A generational OS upgrade like Lion to Mountain Lion, or in this case Mountain Lion to Mavericks has never (and still is not) been counted as a software update and hence is not available via Apple Software Update Server.
Even though it is now free it is still done via the App Store. If/when a Mavericks update comes out e.g. 10.9.1 this will only update earlier Mavericks versions so will not help you. However as Mavericks is free for all compatible Macs the following are solutions you should be able to use.
Greg Neagle of Disney Animation Studios and the author of the administration tool Munki, has written another tool called createOSXinstallPkg which will let you take a full operating system as downloaded from the App Store and convert it in to an installer Pkg file which you can 'run' on a Mac to do an operating system upgrade.
    See http://managingosx.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/son-of-installlion-pkg/
I don't know if it has been tested or if it will work but in theory it would do Mavericks as well as Mountain Lion. You could therefore (hopefully) use it to build a pkg and push it to your clients via for example Apple Remote Desktop Administrator or Casper or something else.
In terms of bandwidth saving, while as mentioned above a Mavericks upgrade is not available via Apple Software Update Server and therefore running your own SUS will not help, you can run Apple's Cache Server which is another module in Server.app this will cache downloads from the App Store including the Mavericks download and thereafter anyone else requesting it will get it from your local cache.

On the HTTP administration page, when I try to configure the device I get the following error message:
Error:      cannot read location object associated with device - UUID not found
It looks as though the device definition has been corrupted some how.

The fix has been found (from Oracle Support). The cause is not yet understood.
I document it here for others who may run into the same problem.
It seems that the device "went missing". The fix was to add it.

  • Having 1 router and multiple WCCP cache devices: cisco and non-cisco

I have a 6500 running WCCPv1. I have two devices single connected to the 6500: a CE565 and a non-cisco device that does WCCPv1. The 6500 is configured for WCCP redirection. What happens to the requests ? Are they serviced by both devices in parallel ? Is only one device servicing the request ? Load balanced ? I know a cluster won't be formed because the device is non-cisco. BTW, the non-cisco device only support WCCP v1.

Will this detection between devices work if the non-cisco device is not really a cache engine, but a web filter that uses WCCP? In reality, my ideal goal would be that traffic would be redirected to the web filter (non-Cisco), get filtered, and then redirected to the catalyst, and then again redirected to the cache engine to be cached. But I am not sure this will happen due to routing. So I guess is either one or the other, correct ? I don't have the option to connect the web filter in other box, neither the Cache Engine. I thoutht that they would not detect each other at all and the router would be doing a decision there. How do they detect each other ? via which protocol ? WCCP ?

  • Kernal message: Could not enable ARP cache poisoning detection.

Looking at system files in Console, for another issue, I came across this kernal message, which occurs at start-up: "*Could not enable ARP cache poisoning detection. Your computer will not be protected*."
It's an intel Mac Mini running Leopard ( 10.5.8 ). I have Norton Antivirus for Mac 11 installed (I know, I know), which has ARP cache poisoning turned on in its "vulnerability protection" prefs. I've gotten no warnings of attacks from Norton, just this Kernal message at start-up. I've seen this issue on a couple of other threads with no answer or solution (except advice to Google it... duh!), already archived and accepting no new posts... so no help there.
Is this ARP cache poisoning detection part of the OS, and if so, why is it not being enabled? Is there a way to enable it? Could the kernal message be telling me that the Norton protection is bugged and not working, or would it be OS related. The mini is a wired connection (ethernet), and there's one other laptop (macbook 10.4.11) using the modem/router ( Actiontec GT 701-wg) via wireless airport. I haven't seen this message on the laptop in console or system logs, but haven't looked hard.
Someone, please respond with a knowledgeable answer, for me and for others who've asked here and on other forums with no helpful public answers given.

Doing a "erase and install" of Leopard, thus dumping Norton AV 11, and then installing Snow Leopard... I haven't seen this Kernal message come up again, yet. I'll assume it was some buggy Norton related thing that cropped up after an OS update, but who knows. I'll leave the question open for a bit, in case anyone else has had this issue and found a reason or solution, and wants to share.

  • Difference between Presentation Server Cache and BI Server Cache

    Hello Experts,
What is the Diff b/w Presentation Server Cache and BI Server Cache
    Thanks,
    S Gouda

    Hello,
Okay, what do you want to do about caching at BI server and Presentation server.
A nQSXXXX.tmp is a temporary cache file which maintained by the BI Server for an analysis request by a user and is kind of shared data between the OBI Server and the OBI Presentation server. This is refereed as the 'Cursor Cache' which could be managed by going thru Administration> Manage Sessions > Clear Cursor Cache. These .tmp files are it is not related to BI Server cache.
By Default, the BI Server Cache is stored in the and stored as NQSxxxxx.tbl files. [middlware_home]/instances/instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obis1/cache]
Caching occurs by default at the subrequest level, which results in multiple cache entries for some SQL statements. Caching subrequests improves performance and the cache hit ratio, especially for queries that combine real-time and historical data.
Below are some useful links for cache management in OBIEE 11g.

  • Error 701, not enough procedure cache (*Urgent*)

    Hi All,
Is there a SQL that I can use to determine the SPID that is the root cause of a 701 (not enough procedure cache)?
    Additional information:
This is happening in 2 servers; 15G memory with 2G procedure cache and 10G memory with 1.25G procedure cache.
Environment: Sun Solaris 10 running ASE 15.0.3 ESD#4
    Monitoring has been enabled.
Sybase recommends either increasing the procedure cache or running dbcc proc_cache(free_unused) periodically.
I would rather identify the process causing it or the configuration setting in these 2 environment that is causing this to happen.
    Thanks in advance.
    Anil

Another thing you might try is the dbcc memusage command.  It will display the 20 biggest things in procedure cache, so if a few extraordinarily large cached procedures are the cause of the 701s, this may identify what the objects are.  It won't identify who first ran it, though, or even show if any spid is currently executing any of those 20 items.
    Example:
    1> set switch on 3604
    2> go
Switch 3604 ('print_output_to_client') is turned on.
All supplied switches are successfully turned on.
    1> dbcc memusage
    2> go
