I have cs6 for pc..however I've made the switch to the dark side, and got myself a macbook pro with a wondrous screen...I would like to transfer my license from pc to mac edition, I know this can be done with current versions however I can't seem to find a number in order to make this happen. any help in the would be appreciated.

You can't. The perpetual licenses are OS specific.

Transfer License from PC to Mac

Hi,
I'm just in the process to switch from Windows to MacOS. I tried my old licenses from Photoshop CS3 on the Mac, but it doesn't work (other like Lightroom which works fine on MacOS).
What can I do...I would like to give back the PC license and get a MacOS license. But as I do not want to use it on both machines, I didn't like the idea to buy a second copy.
Although could I run an MacOS Updateversion with a previous Windows license?

I just bought a Win -> Mac crossgrade for Photoshop by phone;
it took just about 5 minutes and was an easy transaction with
a pleasant service guy.
Steps:
          go to www.adobe.com
               click on "contact"
               on next page, click "other phone numbers"
               call number listied for "licensing, registration web services"
               told the agent I wanted to crossgrade from CS2 on PC to
                    CS5 on Mac
               verified name, address, e-mail address
               he (evidently) checked licensing/registration
               he offered full Mac retail package at upgrade price
                    (plus shipping and sales tax)
               I gave him credit card info
               within five minutes, I had confirmation e-mail including
                    all the order conf data in a nice oficial-looking PDF
                    complete with Adobe letterhead
(and while I'm waiting for the package to arrive, I can make use
of the 30-day trial CS5 for Mac ... )
Now this is for a cross-grade which means I'm not going to continue
to use CS2 on the PC and apparently they found all my registration
data with no trouble, but all in all it was about as easy as these
things get.
I don't recall ever using Adobe customer service before, but if this
is anything like typical, it's a lot better than its reputation.

Transfer a Design Standard 5.5 License from Windows to Mac

We have a dying windows machine that our graphic design employee has been using and has since moved to a Mac. The problem is the license that I have won't work with the downloaded mac file. It works on my windows 8 machine with the media but the media is windows only. When I try it on the Mac it gives me a Not valid for this product error. I didn't think the licenses were tied to Mac or Windows. I would like to get the upgrade to 6 on the Mac but would like to see 5.5 working first. Thanks

For a retail license you can either use it on a MAC machine or a Windows. The same serial number would not work on both the platforms as the serial numbers are OS specific. If you want to use the software on the MAC machine too then you have to purchase another retail license for MAC.

Unfortunately only the most recent Suite, CS6, is supported with the option to swap platforms. You would have to install a Windows emulator on the Mac for a chance at installing the version you have.

I am finally switching from my old PC to a new MacBook pro! Only problem is my student-licensed Photoshop CS6 is for PC and not Mac! How can I switch the license to Mac or will I have to buy a whole new product? (I'd rather not buy a whole new product since that is expensive for small-student-budget me) I currently have the student/teacher edition Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended. I bought this at the beginning of the last school year. Please let me know if it is possible to switch the licensing or if I need to buy a new product! (And if it is possible, then how?)

To request a platform or language swap on the same (current) version of a product, do the following:
Register the product that you want to swap. See Adobe Product Registration page.
Note:If the product you want to swap is an upgrade, you need to register the previous versions too.
Sign in to the Support Portal using your Adobe ID (usually your email address):

The sales person I talked to had a very heavy accent but was extremely helpful and after I gave him my email address for my adobe account he found my request, and finished it up for me. My sales rep canceled my serial number for my Photoshop CS6 and had his supervisor create a serial number for the same product but with Mac licensing. He then shipped to me (for free) a DVD disc set of the Mac licensed product, to arrive in 7-10 business days.
I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THIS.
I DID NOT HAVE TO SIGN ANYTHING AND FAX IT TO ANYONE.
The customer service rep then sent me a confirmation email with a link to download the new product, again with the new serial number, and instructions on how to install the new product.
The whole cross-grade ordeal took about 20 mins.
Overall, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with Adobe Customer Service for being able to do this for me! It was as easy a process as it could get.
*note: If you are trying to switch from a version of Adobe (any product, say Photoshop for example) that is no longer sold as the current version, you will have to pay to upgrade to the new version, but there will be no fee to cross-grade to a different platform.

Lightroom License from PC to Mac

I purchased lightroom 3.3 to be able to use on Windows 7 PC and successfully used it. Also I was able to upgrade free to 3.6. Recently I bought Mac Book Pro with Max OS 10.8 which is the latest OS. These are my following questions
1. Is it possible to covernt the PC license into Mac?
2. If it is possible which DMG should I download?
3. Is it also possible to upgrade to version 4.1?

You made my day. Thanks for the solution. However I did not change the security settings to allow to install software created by "anywhere". Instead I opened the application using "Ctrl + Application" and the Mountain lion was able to install successfully. Also the license key from Windows worked like gem.

LR is cross-platform, no problem there. Your CS5.5 will however require upgrading to CS6 and conversion to Mac or getting a Creative Cloud license.

There are no upgrades with further S&T discounts. That being so, you would simply buy a CS6 version for Mac. There are no disks, just downloads these days (unless you buy a retail package with a code, but those get fewer every day as stock runs out).

You don't want to think in terms of moving anything. Just install the Mac version of Lightroom on the Mac and see if the serial number you have works to activate it.

No, it's not possible. CS4 is no longer eligible for any upgrades, so a platform swap is out of the question. You have to buy a new license.
