XI and SAPConnect

Hi,
Our business scenario is as follows. R/3 will send a PO as an email with a pdf attachment using SAPConnect to XI. XI would have to read the MIME header information and send it to a fax server. The Fax server will send back a confirmation email to XI with a success code which should be updated in R/3 using RFC SX_OBJECT_STATUS_RECEIVE.
I looked at some of the blogs involving SAPConnect on the forum, but that did not help.
Thank you all in advance.
Tarun.

Hi,
Please do go thru this link before you actually configure the sender mail adapter. It should give you a fairly good idea.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6b/4493404f673028e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
to configure the receiver mail adapter, look at this link below.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6b/4493404f673028e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
I would suggest that you go through these to know how to configure your sender mail adapter,
/people/prasad.ulagappan2/blog/2005/06/07/mail-adapter-scenarios-150-sap-exchange-infrastructure
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/12/18/xi-sender-mail-adapter--payloadswapbean--step-by-step
Also, to know the various parameters of a sender mail adapter, just go through this link,
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/23/c093409c663228e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Check your mail adapter configuration against these details. Also, check if the mail server you are trying to access is running.
Also go thru this pdf to make yourself more comfortable with mail adapters.

I hope I have answered your query.

Abhy

  • ZFAX and SAPConnect

Hi! I'm on 4.7 (with Was 6.20). On the Exchange Server I use ZFAX plugin (www.equists.com) to convert email in fax document to send it. With Outlook client, if I send a email to the address [FAX:aaa@1234] the Exchange server receive the email; zfax plugin interprete the email as a fax (because the address is set with prefix "[fax" and zfax plugin convert the document in fax and send it to the number 1234 (for example).
Now, I want to send a email from SAP with SMTP/SAPConnect and I want to set the email address as [FAX:aaa@12345] because I want that ZFAX plugin intercept SAP E-Mail. Unfortunately standard SAP do not accept an email address with the format [FAX:aaa@12345].
Do you know how I can solve the problem??
    It's very important.
    Thank you very mutch,
    Gianluca

    Hi,
I had incorrectly assumed you were using RFC destination to send mails.
SMTP protocol has become part of WAS (maybe 610 onwards) as I understand it.
In standard SAP behavior, you can not have the fax-number in the domain-name side of the email, but you can generate an email-address in the form FAX=<fax_no>@dummydomainname. (eg email-addr = FAX=[email protected])
If this can be configured on the exchange server to be interpreted as fax, it is doable.
If not, you will need to make modifications into standard system behavior. If you send a fax (not email) in standard fax no form (eg a valid fax no : 'US-5551000'). At time of send, this undergoes conversion in FM (SX_NUMBER_CONVERT) to become [email protected] (if you have set acme.com as the domain in 'FAX' settings of SMTP node in SCOT). You can modify this FM to apply your conversion (or simply, put a break-point in it, and change the address to FAX:aaa@1234 in debugger and see if you are getting the fax alright, and decide then whether a modification is what you want to do).

  • Configure Java program and SAPCONNECT

    Hi All,
I have a java program to access gmail and get the inbox details. I need to configure this to SAPCONNECT so that the inbox mails are sent to sap inbox.

    properties.put("http.proxySet", "true"); Does nothing.
properties.put("http.proxyHost", "crmccstest.bankofamerica.com");That's OK if that is your proxy server. But is it? It won't solve your original problem, that that hostname is unknown. More probably you have a local proxy server, and the bankofamerica host is the target you're trying to connect to?
properties.put("http.proxyPort", "80");If that's the port number of your local proxy server.
    properties.put("http.proxyUser", "pboadmin");
properties.put("http.proxyPassword", "pbo1234");*/These don't do anything in the JDK. They seem to belong to Apache or something. If you're using such a thing, OK, otherwise if you need to specify a username:password you need to install a java.net.Authenticator.

  • PO approval Email not visible in SOST even after all settings intact

    Hello All,
The 'PO requiring approval ' email is not visible in SAP since 10.11.2010.
The user decision task which sends a notification to approver regarding the approval has been going successfully for two yrs and now suddenly since 10 Nov 2010, it stopped. The workflow log does not show any error. Also the settings in SWN_CONFIG have not changed since 2008. The approvers have their correct email Ids set in SU01. Even the jobs 'SWNSELSEN' and 'SAPCONNECT' are scheduled and running successfully and sending emails for all other sap notifications.
Suddenly they have stopped sending notifications for this particular issue.
Please help me, where to look for. Are there any services involved other than these settings.
    Awaiting eagerly for the solution.
    Neha

    Hi Neha,
How you are sending mails for dialog workitem?
Are you using the email send step inside the workflow or you using the batchjob to send the mails (send task description as mail via batchjob).
Id using the batchjob check the that task is present in the selection criteria.
(report to send mail is RSWUWFML)

  • Faxing Adobe Form Purchase Order

I have created a Adobe Purchase order form (based on MEDRUCK_PO) which can print and print preview just fine. However I do not know how to get this form to fax. I found note 1377496 which makes changes to program FM06PE04, but this only applies to release 604 and we are on 600 and non of the context blocks match.
Short of creating a custom version of SAPFM06P or modifying FM06PE04 is there a way to FAX Adobe PO forms?

I think you just have to use message control standard functions (NACE transaction) and sapconnect (SCOT transaction), as with any other type of form. Did you check whether it works?

  • PO offline approval

    Dear SRM Experts,
We have offline approval configuration set up and i can say the it is working fine. My SC are getting approved , rejected  from mail.
Now i would expect the same to work for PO approval , we have PO chnage approval  and any  chnage in PO need to be approved. for PO Change the mail are going  to the approver and when he clcik on approve by email button in mail  i can see an inbound mail entry in SOIN. i dont know why that is not processed.
do we need to make separate entry in inbound processing for PO approval,
please let me know if any answer you have for the same.
    cheers
    Iftekhar Alam

    Hello,
I have seen a similar issue that has been solved by implementing note 1442161.
In addition, check if WF-BATCH user and SAPCONNECT user for inbound processing have the following roles. They are mandatory:
    - /SAPSRM/EMPLOYEE
    - /SAPSRM/OP_PURCHASER
Then, go to SOIN transaction, menu Utilities -> MIME Settings and set "Always Save" for incoming mails.
If the MIME file is missing, inbound e-mails are not processed.
After this, test with a new shopping cart.
    Kind regards,
    Ricardo

  • Senders Name - System ID

    Dear Experts
    <u><i>SAP R/3 4.7</i></u>
We are having a setup to send workflow work-item to external e-mail address as well and SAPconnect is place and working fine.
    Question:
When SAP sending these workflow work-items to external e-mail the sender name is System ID <b>(i.e., S00 for instance)</b> is there a way to change this sender name to some meaning full customer defined text?
Thanks in advance for the expert advices…
    Best Regards,
    A. Riaz

    Hi,
You will have to configure Workflow System Administrator.
Go to transaction SWU3, and then to
    "Maintian Workflow System Administrator".
All outgoing mails will then take the name of this administrator.
    Hope this helps..

  • Setting up SMTP mail in BW for Information Broadcasting

Dirk Herzog: I am trying to configure SMTP for sending web query results as an e-mail to external internet addresses. I have read through all the HELP.SAP.COM documentation but we are confused by the configuration for SMTP server in transaction SICF and SAPConnect settings in transaction SCOT. What is the SAP Mail Host and Mail Port that we use when configuring the SMTP node in trans SCOT?
The HOST data tab of SICF's SAPConncect virtual host doesn't give this information. As well, the Service Data tab on SAPConncect virtual host in SICF is confusing. Do we have to fill in the Anonymous Logon Data in order to send mail externally to the Internet?
I apologize in advance if my questions are not clear. Since you just recently got Info Broadcasting working, you may understand the common hurdles we are having.
    thanks and regards, David

The mail server also needs to be setup to allow mail relaying from a system other than itself - or at least our Microsoft Exchange server did.

    Hi,
Sending Emails Using XI Mail Adapter
    Tryied now..
    http://www.riyaz.net/blog/index.php/2008/02/23/xipi-sending-emails-using-xi-mail-adapter/
In this article we shall discuss the configuration of SAP XI Mail Adapter on the receiver side. The receiver mail adapter resides on the J2EE stack and converts the XI messages into emails and transfers them to email server or in simple words sends them as emails to intended recipient(s).
The adapter supports SMTP as well as IMPA4 protocol. Message protocol provides two options, namely XIALL and XIPAYLOAD. In the former entire SOAP message is sent as an attachment in mail along with the payload while in the latter only the message payload is sent.
    Configuring the Receiver Mail Adapter
Let’s say you want to send incoming XML message as an email. The mail adapter provides two options – one using the mail package and one without using mail package. When you do not use mail package you have to provide the email header details (like To and From addresses, Subject line etc) in the adapter itself. There is no restriction on the XML message format or namespace. However, when you use mail package, you have to adhere to a specific format of the source XML.
The figure above on the left shows a typical message structure that should be used while configuring receiver mail adapter with mail package. The Message Type must be named as ‘Mail’ and it must be present under the Namespace ‘http://sap.com/xi/XI/Mail/30’. Your message is bound to fail in adapter engine if this is not adhered to. This helps you to dynamically set email parameters like sender, receiver mail subject etc.
The URL of the mail server should be specified as shown below depending on whether you use SMTP or IMAP4.
    smtp://EmailServer or imap://EmailServer/UserInbox
If your server required User Authentication, you can specify the same while configuring the adapter. If you want to request a delivery receipt, check the ‘Send Delivery Status Notification’ checkbox. The delivery receipt is delivered to the email address specified in the ‘To’ field. base64 content encoding is possible. The figure on the right shows a typical configuration of the receiver mail adapter.
As with any other J2EE adapter, you can enhance the adapter further using the adapter modules which can be specified in the module tab of the communication channel.
    Thanks,
    Satya Kumar

    Hello Scott,
Check (with basis team) technical settings for e-mail by means of:
    - OSS note [455140 - Configuration of e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=455140],
    - basic settings configuration guide for SAP SRM 7.0 (paragraph 5.7 Technical Settings for E-Mail - page 40). This last document deals with profile partner settings ( RZ10 ), client assignment and SAPconnect administration.
If all those settings are correct, so problem is due to mail server: basis team will have to check with network/mail server team.

  • Send EWA via email notifications

    Hello experts,
Could you please let us know what configuration do we need to perform in order to schedule the sent of EWA via emails weekly?
    Thanks and regards,

    Hello,
To send email for the Solution, select the solution DSWP > Edit > Automatic Email Transmission
Then click on the "Add Email Recipient" Button
Select the "session Name" ( EarlyWatch Alert, Early Watch for Solutions or Service Level Report)
Select the "report type" (EarlyWatch Standard or EarlyWatch Short)
Enter the email address of the recipient
    Repeat for each recipient
This is done once for each solution.
The other option is to send EWA reports by system.
This is done by maintaining the entries in the table DSWP_SYS_EMAIL
A filter can then be set in SPRO
SPRO > Solution Manager > Scenario Specific Settings > System Monitoring > Sending Service reports by Inernet Email > Automatic Emailing of Reports > Email Filter (Maintenance)
    There
Perform the IMG activities to - Map systems to Email addresses
                                                 -  Badi EWA email filter
Of course the underlying need to be functioning SCOT and SAPCONNECT, but you may have already setup email, so these steps would not be necessary.
Hope this is the information you were looking to find.

    Paul

  • SAPconnect and XI

    Hello,
Is it possible to send mail messages from a R/3 4.6c system to an smtp server and the other way around?
But instead of using the Exchange connector or a sendmail utility use XI with it's mail adapter?
    Thanks

    Boaz,
SAP XI also uses SAPConnect and therefore an external SMTP server (like exchange).

  • SAPConnection Pooling and Web Services

    Hi,
We have build a lot of .NET web services which are connecting to various SAP systems (depending on the front-end user).
To improve performance we were considering using the SAPConnectionPool class ...
We have some questions about this class:
    1) While thinking about it we were wondering if there is actually any benefit considering the stateless nature of web services ...
How would we actually manage that the connection pool remains in place for each subsequent web service call (so the pool does not need to restart over and over again, obviously loosing its benefits) ...
Would it work by add methods to the Global class?
    2) To get at least one open connection available to each SAP system before the first web service is called, would it be sufficient to just ask for a connection to each system and immediately return it again to the pool (this would then be executed in the global class )
Perhaps we are missing some fundamental stuff here but be patient with us ... we are only working for 6 months in the .NET environment (coding like hell in C# )
    Thx,
    Steven
Here is the code we added to the global.asax:
    public static void InitializeSAPConnectionPooling()
// Try to get the SAP connections from the application memory
    Hashtable wSAPConnections = (HashtableHttpContext.Current.Application["SAPConnections"];
    // When we have it
    if ( wSAPConnections != null )
// For each connection, start up a connection in the pool
foreach( DictionaryEntry wElement in wSAPConnections )
         // Get a connection
         SAPConnection wConnection = SAPConnectionPool.GetConnection((string)wElement.Value);
         // Return the connection back to the pool          SAPConnectionPool.ReturnConnection(wConnection);

    Hi Reiner,
    Thx for the response!
I understood the meaning of the pooling - the tricky question is whether the hashtable with the open connections 'survives' between 2 web service calls ...
If not then the whole point of using the connection pooling is useless to us ...
My code snippet is perhaps looking useless as I lost some characters during the paste ... its idea is simply to have for each SAP server one connection being available when the server restarts ...
unfortunately this does not makes much sense when there is a 'keep alive' check build in ...
    Some more questions then:
    1) Can we have control over the 'timeout'?
    2) Is there a way I can check whether the returned connection by the pool is a new one or an existing one?
    3) How does this work together with "load balancing" ... I guess I will get the same connection again when my connection string directs towards a message server in stead of an application server?
    4) Is a connection being opened once the connection object is returned by the pool or only when the actual BAPI call is executed?
    Thx,
    Steven
