XI Business scenario Null pointer exception

Hi SDN,
I am on NW2004s, with PI_Basis sp10, I am getting a Java.lang null pointer
exception.
Please guide me Step by step process on which service pack I have to be and what all patches of java should I apply / upgrade to fix this problem.

Let me know!
Moreover have you imported XI BASIS Component?
If it is newly installed, this problem is because you have not imported XI BASIS Component. You import the component through Integration Repository Environment.

Muli File to File Scenario : Null Pointer Exception

I have a FILE to FILE Scenario. I intend to transfer Muliple Files from one system to another. FTP Servers are running on both the systems.
1. In the sender Communication channel: I have set the name of the Source Directory
2. In the File name I set <nothing>
3. The advanced file selection option is ticked.
5. I set the Source directory name and the file mask *.txt in the table.
all other configurations related to the FTP Server etc are done.
When the scenario is executed, my sender communication channel shows a null pointer exception when Checked in the Runtime Workbench.
Can anyone please help and let me know what it is.

This also does not help.
One observation:
If i set the Directory as the real source directory
and
Set in the advance file selection
The full directory name , and the Full file name for e.g XML1.txt , XML2.txt in the file mask, it works.
But it results in a failure if I set *.txt as the file mask.

9.3.3 Upgrade, null pointer exception when accessing business rules and mac

Hello,
We upgraded from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3. In the Essbase Administration Services Console, when I attempt to access business rules or macros from a client PC, we get a null pointer exception. The message does not tell us much, but I cannot find more.
I can access business rules and macros using EAS Console from the server. Do I have a bad installation, or have I missed a step?

Hi,
You might have to re-organize your application module hierarchy to place your common code.
If your intension is to auto populate the primary key for your Entity Objects., I would suggest below common practice.
1). Create a Base Entity Impl class for your project that extends oracle.jbo.server.EntityImpl
2). Code your getDbSequence() method inside this base entity impl class
3). Make sure that all your Entity Objects extend your base entity impl class
4). Use EL expression to call this method for auto-generating primary key attribute of your Entity Object.
e.g., adf.object.getDbSequence("sequenceName")

Null pointer exception while executing a scenario from cloned work repo

I have involved in ODI 10g to 11g migration activity.
For doing that activity, i cloned the existing master and work repositories into some intermediate master and work schemas.
Created new configuration settings for pointing the odi 10g to the intermediate master and work repositories.
Everything is fine till this, but while executing any interface or package anything from intermediate work repo designer, am facing error as below

The error is resolved by following the below solution
If you receive an error in ODI 10g like;

at com.sunopsis.dwg.cmd.DwgCommandBase.prepare(DwgCommandBase.java)
1.First check whether your agents are working and test connection to repositories. If everything ok, you might have changed your repository name recently.
2.When you export your work and master repository and import to another schema or database and whether you connect to your imported repository, you change your repository name in your first environment.
3.Correct order is first rename your Master Repository name, log off / log on and change your Work Repository name and check below fields in both your Master and Work Repositories in both environments.
Master Repository : SNP_REM_REP
Work Repository : SNP_LOC_REPW
REP_NAME column of MASTER_REP.SNP_REM_REP should be equal to REP_NAME column in WORK_REP.SNP_LOC_REPW.
You cannot see WORK_REP.SNP_LOC_REPW value in ODI Topology Manager and if you are changing your repository name you need to update value from database.
Change the value from DB, loggoff and logon the user and connect the designer again.

Java Null Pointer Exception- Business Validation In AM

Hi, I have been tried cracking this validation issue, tried several combinations. But does not work and throw java null pointer exception. I would appreciate if somebody can point where I am going wrong on the code. Thanks ahead.

I have a page with PO (blanket purchase order) header info, and a PO line info with additional empty columns (related to Blanket Release). When the user fills in one of the columns (release amount, rls_amt_i), then I need to validate this against remaining blanket amount ie.{ PO_amt - (po_rls_amt1 + po_rls_amt2+..)}. If rls_amt_i is <= remaining amount, then the release needs to get created, otherwise shouldn't. I know, this is a pretty normal requirement. Please check my code to see where I could be wrong.

The code breaks at the line 642: totalqty = (Number)row.getQuantityReleased();
I had already taken care of the null value in the VO sql query by using nvl(sum(release_amount), 0).. .so it should return atleast 0, if its null. But it returns "null" all the time.
I dont understand why its doing that. When I run the sql backend the query works fine and returns 0,even when there are no prior releases on the PO.

ViewDocument.jsp gets null pointer exception when using report token instead of docid for DHTML

The following command gets a null pointer error showing up in Tomcat log:../../viewers/cdz_adv/viewDocument.jsp?sEntry=<%=strEntry%>&lang=en&iDocID=830&ViewType=I&kind=Webiwhere sEntry is a valid report token but works fine if the ViewType is H or id=830 is used instead of sEntry. Jbo null pointer exception whilst creating an AM

Hello,
I am trying to create some EO's,VO's and associated AM. At the end of the creation, I tend to get the following error
Load Error
Exception: oracle.jbo.dt.objects.JboException(java.lang.NullPointerException).
The creation of EO's runs smooth, but if I decide to create the associated VO's and the AM, the application hangs, and I have to kill it before I can move forward.
Please guide me

I am sorry I was ambiguous in my previous post.
I am trying to create a EO/VO/AM triplet for a host of tables using JDev 11g, and the tables under the 'mct' database.
I followed the following steps to create my triplet.
1. Using the EO wizard, I selected a host of tables, for instance, MCT_CONFIG_CONTACT_CENTER_VL from the MCT db
2. Following the usual steps, I tend to get the null pointer exception, with a 'load error' for one of the classes contained in a zip file, which I do not think I'm using, in the creation of the EO.
In the light of the above scenario, can you please guide me?

Client proxy Null pointer exception

I have a problem with ABAP client proxy. The scenario runs fine, but a few messages does not enter XI pipeline with a null pointer exception in RWB. When I click on Message Content of these errored messages, I get
500 Internal Server Error
SAP J2EE Engine/7.00
Application error occurred during request processing.
Details: Error [javax.servlet.ServletException: null], with root cause [java.lang.NullPointerException: null].
Exception id: [00096BDD38BA00480003206B00002EE7000447B40745C832]
The strangest thing is if I retrigger the same message for processing from ABAP proxy, the message gets processed successfully.
Even in the successfully reprocessed errored message, I am not able to view the message content. I am able to view the message content in SXMB_MONI with out any problem.
Any ideas what could be the reason.

Hi Ramakrishna,
I doubt Timeout is the cause for this problem coz. we used to get Time out errored messages apart from the Null pointer Exception messages. When I resend a Timedout message from RWB it gets processed sucessfully. But when I resend a null pointer exception message from RWB, the same error occurs again. Only if I resend the message from R/3 it is getting processed successfully.
I will try this setting too. Thanks for sharing.

Null pointer exception thingy

this is my program below, Card is a class and it works fine with indivual objects, but when i try and put it in the Card array it gives me an error i think it is a null pointer exception or something, can anyone give me some advise?

The reason it is failing is that you have a class variable named deck which is a Card array.
But you then delcare that the init METHOD has a variabled named deck which is a Card array. That variable is a method local variable and is not the same variable as your class variable.
So you have to stop with the Card[] deck business inside the method.

Adding a new UDF throws a null pointer exception and modifying user.xml

ii. Can I just add the field directly within the MDS>file/user.xml? Would there be an issue with changing an existing attribute metadata using the user.xml?

i. The null pointer exception was due to using a complex query I was using in the LOV query. I tried a simple query and that worked fine.

We are trying to make an project where we can make a person register in our data base & after which he/she can search for other user.
The logged in user can modify his/her own data but can view other ppl's data.
We are in a phase of registering the user & that's where we are stuck. The problem is that after the login screen when we hit register (OK- button) the data are not getting entered in the data base.
Can u please help me??

Null pointer exception and servlet

I cant figure out why i am getting a null pointer exception. this works if i keep my form output in the same class as my driving servlet. All i did was break off the html display to a new form and i get a null pointer exception.
this is just an excerpt. no reason to post the whole form.

anyway to write the system.err to an html screen with
a servlet?Why would you ask that? Surely you should have asked "Any way to write a stack trace to an HTML screen from a servlet?"
And in fact there is. I am sure you have not yet looked up the Exception class and the versions of its printStackTrace() method. But when you do, you will see that there are printStackTrace(PrintStream) and printStackTrace(PrintWriter). And you know how to write HTML (or text in general) to the servlet response so that it shows up in the client's browser, right? I will let you figure out how to put those things together.

Null Pointer Exception and Illegal Arguement when ran with Wireless Toolkit

The following code throws a null pointer exception after it tried to initialize the textBox. I am not sure if there is something I am not importing, or if it's just because I'm sick and my head is cloudy. :-}.
I am using Wireless Toolkit 2.2 and Java 5.0

Here is the problem:
tbHelp = new TextBox("HeLp", "You can press the back button", 25, 0);
This line declares a maximum textbox size of 25 but in reality he is declaring a textbox of size 29.
Thats why it is throwing the illegal argument.

Null Pointer exception returned when object is not null!

I've isolated the problem and cut down the code to the minimum. Why do I get a null pointer exception when the start method is called, when the object objJTextField is not null at this point???? I'm really stuck here, HELP!

Your problem is in your ExtendedPage.java file. You can fix this by changing the line
private JTextField objJTextField = null;to:
private JTextField objJTextField = new JTextField();This creates a proper instance.
