XI Installation: invalid XI SAP sid adm password

During an initial XI installation on top of an ABAP + JAVA NW04 system. In the Java Deployment > Windows Domain installation step i am unable to enter the correct SAP <sid>adm password with below error message:
"Invalid password. DIAGNOSIS: The password you specified for user 'xi2adm' is wrong. SOLUTION: Enter the correct password."
In the sapinst_dev.log is the following:

I have installed os/sp3/sqlserver/patches/Central Instance/Db instance.
I have used Administrator account to install this.
1. When do i need to create <SID>adm user?

SQL>update OPS$<SAPSID>ADM.SAPUSER set PASSWD='<new password>' where USERID='SAPSR3';
You can do the same from BRTOOLS also

XI Installation: SAP System Account+Password- Login failed

Hi All,
This is my first attempt in installing XI.
I have installed SAP Web AS 6.40 ABAP+Java System and am trying to install XI now.
I can also confirm that my J2EE engine is up and running. I ran the J2EE example on HTTP using port 50000.
Here is my basic config:
VMWare with Windows 2003 Server SE, 60Gigs dedicated HDD space, 2Gig RAM, MS SQL Server 2k Enterprise SP4.
My Problem is that when I run the "XI Installation" from "NetWeaver Components Running on Java" I get asked for my SAP System Account's (user: l01adm) password. I know what my password for System account is, but for some reason I get "Invalid Password" error message from SAPInst GUI program.
Since I am very new to SAP Web AS and XI, there could be quite a few reasons why this is not working.
Could anyone please shed some light my direction regarding the possible things that could be causing my problem?

Changing SAP System User password

Due to recent security concerns we want to change <ora>sid & <sid>adm passwords. SAP is running with AIX OS.
Is there any SAP tool/script to change it or we can simply change it at OS level and be done with it?

OS level goto Computer Management -> Local Users and groups -> check for the user <sid>adm,and also for the group ora_<sid> the same way u can do with AIX OS

Hi,
If I am not wrong you system is installed in windows. You can change the password in the domian controller under users OU or you can ask your domian administrator to change the same. But, I would recommend not to do this as after chaging the password the sap system will not start and you need to update the changed password in all the places wherever the mentioned IDs are used. For eg. in SAP_<SID> service and SAPOSCOL service.
Also, if the installation is in cluster then need to be more carefull and see where all need to update the changed password.

Can not change password of sid adm and ora sid

Hello Experts,
I have done a system copy of SAP ECC6.0.The target and the source system are on the same host.Hardware platform is HP-UX 11.31 and database is Oracle 10g.Both the systems are up and running now.
While target system installation, I gave the "master password"(password for all users) same as in the source system.
But when the target sysetm was installed, I found that <target sid>adm and ora<target sid> ,ddic passwords are not working.For J2EE_ADMIN, the password is working.
Please guide how to change ( or reset) the password of <target sid>adm and ora<target sid> without knowing the old password.
DDIC password I could able to change by logging into the system with SAP*

You need to login with root and then just type passwd sidadm and give the new password.Same you can do it for orasid.you can change it with root as it has administrator rights and will not ask for the old password.

Default password for SID adm

The subject says it all - I am new to MaxDB, and did not install the application.
We are trying to update some tables, and get permission errors.
I have the SUPERDBA user, but that user does not have permissions on the <SID>ADM tables.
Is there a default password for the <SID>ADM database user?
I am probably missing something very easy here.

PI 7.1 can not deploy! ask for user SID adm and password

 I create a ejb project amd import a WSDL and generate java bean skeleton. after implementation, I choose the EAR project and right click and choose run RUN AS-->Run on server, then choose the server, add project and finish
then a popup window shows and tell me "Please enter the credentials of the SAP administrator <SID>adm", I use J2ee_admin but error occur:

I am new to XI.I am trying to install XI on windows 2003 and sqlserver. I am done with the following without any error?
1. OS and its service packs
2. Sql Server and patches.
3.Central instance
4. DB instance
5. Installed sap gui.
I have logged in as administrator and installed the above stuff.
1. When do i need to create <SID>adm user?
2. Do i need to use <SID>adm to install the XI?

OS User SID ADM profile not loading in Windows 2008

Hi Experts ,
We have installed Netweaver 7.o EHp1 BI 7.01 on windows 2008, MS SQL 2008 .
After few days, we are not able to login with the SIDADM user. The error getting is "User profile cannot be loaded"
'The LoadUserProfile call failed with the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."
We did a domain installation and so the user is a domain user too.
Since this user cannot be loaded , we have problems with transports , becasue few environment variables are related with this user name(dbms-type etc) . So stms transports not running and outputs error.
Kindly advise how I can make this user logging in .

Note that the SAP system doesn't run in <sid>adm context but in the context of the user SAPService<SID>.
Was that user maybe (by accident) deleted from the domain and recreated?
I'd open an OSS call and let the support have a look on the system. The "clean" way would be to take a database backup and reinstall the system as homogeneous system copy.

Windows NT ID versus SID ADM

Here is my problem.
I installed the Developer Workplace (NW2004S SPS6) on my laptop on Windows XP.
1- I log on my machine using my DOMAIN\USERID which is Administrator og my machine.
2- I access EP using ADMINISTRATOR and it works BUT, if I try to access User Management, I've got an error on the page saying "Access denied" (Javascript type of error)
However, if I log on my machine using <SID>ADM rather then my normal userid, everything works perfectly.
I thought that maybe I would need to be part of the NT groups created by SAP during the installation but it doesn't seem to solve the problem.

Hi Benoit,
Try to logon to the Developer Workplace installation from the Visual Admin. You can start it from this file system location \usr\sap\<SID>\JC<instance_number>\j2ee\admin\go.bat
You can manage users from the Security Provider service of the Server nodes.
If everything works from there, then it's likely that the OS user DOMAIN\USERID group policies for DOMAIN interfere with the local for your laptop security policies. To resolve this you'll have to talk to you DOMAIN admins.

SAP* and DDIC passwords for new clients in Sol Man 4.0

I just recently finished a Solution Manager 4.0 on Windows 2003 server box. Then, I performed some of the post installation steps until I had to create a new client. So, I went to scc4 and created a new client. When trying to get access to this new client through SAP*, the default password did not work and the entries were not created in the table usr02. Also, I tried to insert the missing entries into the usr02 table, but had no success after all.
I hope some of you can help on this, because I am stucked on it.

If you install a new ABAP or ABAP+Java system, in most cases you do not need to perform the client copy for
the ABAP stack. SAPinst creates three ABAP clients during the installation, client 000, client 001, and client 066.
You can use client 001 for production.
The following procedure describes how to perform a client copy manually. We recommend that you
use client 001 as source client.
Caution
If you want to use a client other than the default of 001 as your production client, you have to reconnect
the Java part to the production client as described in SAP Note 937323.
Procedure
1. Maintain the new client with transaction SCC4.
2. Activate kernel user SAP*:
 a) Set the profile parameter
 Login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 0.
 b) Restart the application server.
3. Log on to the new client with kernel user SAP* and password PASS.
4. Copy the client with transaction SCCL and profile SAP_CUST.
5. Check the log files with transaction SCC3.
6. Deactivate kernel user SAP*:
 a) Reset login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 1.
Caution
 You create SAP system user SAP* on the new client
 before resetting
login/no_automatic_user_sapstar.
 b) Restart the application server.
