XI Won't Export to Excel 2003

We have Crystal Reports XI R1 in our .NET application. We are able to export our reports to Excel version 2002 or earlier but can't export to Excel 2003. Is there a patch or a workaround?

I am not aware of any issues specific to Excel 2003. Now, I am aware of issues when WIN 2003 server is updated with SP2. And yes, the latest Crystal Reports Service Pack should resolve that issue.
To deploy the new files to your server, you will need to either create a new deployment project using the CR for .NET msm files, or use the msi. You can not run the SP on computers that only have the CR runtime. The location of the msm and msi files is describe in [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsforVisualStudio.NETRuntimeDistribution-Versions9.1to12.0] wiki.
Most likely, in your situation (assuming this is a web app), it will be easiest to run the msi. All you will need is to enter the correct keycode when you are prompted.

ALV grid export to Excel 2003-f.01

Hi all,
I have an issue with ALV grid export to excel 2003 ,when i tried to download with the option as local file > xls file ,the report downloads with page breaks which the user does not want , each break comeswith header .
With the option of list>export>xml sheet - the report downloads with out page break but with no header information like the name of the report and reporting period .The tcode is f.01 and the system is ECC6.
Can any one suggest how to download the report with tiltle of the report with no page break ?

OBIEE 11.1.1.7 Exporting to Excel 2003 and 2007 difference

Hi
I have a simple analysis, a couple of measures, some formatted so tat if they are negative show them as Red, minus, 1 decimal and thousand separator. Another measure is not formatted to be Red, just black, minus, 1 decimal and thousand separator.
So ... now to the issue. When I export to Excel 2003 the measures are fine, the numbers are numbers, all fine and dandy.
When I export to Excel 2007+ ... the red minus numbers are now text and impossible to change them all to number. I can only convert to number those that are less than 1000 ... the rest are just impossible.
The other measures, the ones that are black, minus, 1 decimal and thousand separator ... are numbers in Excel 2007+.
Why?
What can I do to solve this?

Sorry guys ... forgott to say that I'm not the one exporting to Excel ... is my business user and I cannot ask them to save the reports to another format or to cast a column or more?
I will try them both and see what happens ... but this is something that Oracle must fix. It's the year 2013 for godness sake!! This is not a Beta software. In my opinion this is so ridiculous I can hardly find words for it hahahaha
I have tried to cast and convert ... well that doesn't work and I found that some people are using macros to convert text to numbers in Excel ...

Crystal 8.5 Export to Excel 2003 Error after Excel SP3 install

Just upgraded Office 2003 to SP3. When exporting a Crystal 8.5 report to Excel 2003..I now receive an error message...file error data may have been lost crystal...i click ok then the Excel spreadsheet opens. all the data appears to be there. I have tried switching between extented and not and also tried switching between application and disk file...same results...SP3 for Office changed something...Just trying to determine what i need to correct to make this error go away...

Yes and no.....I replaced the export dll for Excel with a newer one...the newer dll removed the error message but the layout of the exported crystal reports was screwed up...so i went back to older version. I think it may have something to do with the default speadsheet or tab name that Crystal Reports creates that SP3 for Excel doesnt like...If i recall...i ran into something similar when i was on Crystal 7 and upgrade to Office 2003....

Error on export to Excel 2003

Hello, I have Crystal Reports 8 installed on a Windows 2003 Citrix server along with Office 2003 SP3. Whenever I try to export any report to Excel, I get the following error:
File error: Data may have been lost
I found elsewhere that this may be fixed if I install new database and export drivers, however when I looked for them on this site, I could only find them in French and German. Is there either an English version of that hotfix, or another way to fix this problem?

Problem in Exporting to Excel 2007 using CRServer 2008

Can anyone please help me know the difference between Crystal Reports Server 2008 and Business Objects XI R2? Both the support guides says that it supports Office 2007. I have a problem in exporting the reports to Excel 2007 .I have downloaded the trial version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 but still unable to view my complete reports in Excel 2007 through infoview because few of my report's colums are truncated and it still exports in Excel 2003.I have LiveOfficeXIR2_SP4 and Office 2007 installed. Is it so that i have to switch over to Business Objects XI R2 or any other to solve my problem instead of using Crystal Reports Server 2008 or is it the problem with the version of my Live office.Pls help me regarding this..

Hi Ani,
First Thank you for your reply..I have already tried exporting it in Excel 2003 but since the limit is upto 256 columns and that my report's content exceeds this limit, few of the columns are truncated. Thats why i thought that it would be better to export it in Excel 2007. But i could'nt find any way to do it so..Pls help me if there is any other way..

SSRS 2012 export to Excel 2010 Via IE8 has many compatibility issues

We have many reports in SSRS 2012 which had originally developed in SSRS 2005. When ever we render these report into Excel we face two major issues;
First: After reports render in to Excel (xlsx) format, we have cell, column, row shifting problem and every element of the report is not in the same place as appose to 2005 render to xls format. Second.
for any drill through (link) report all the url will be blocked by Excel.
We use SSRS 2012, Office 2010 and IE 8. Also we don't want to add Export to Excel 2003 feature. In other word we want out put in xlsx.
Any solution, suggestion, hotfix is appreciated

According to your description, after you updated SSRS 2005 reports to SSRS 2012, reports render appose to 2005 when export them to Excel, and drill through link is blocked.
Question1:
A report definition file includes a reference to the RDL namespace that specifies the version of the report definition schema that is used to validate the .rdl file. After a report is upgraded locally or on the report server, you might notice additional errors,
warnings, and messages. This is the result of changes to the internal report object model and processing components, which cause messages to appear when underlying problems in the report are detected.
When you open an .rdl file in Report Designer in SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), if the report was created for a previous namespace, Report Designer automatically creates a backup file and upgrades the report to the current namespace. This is the only way
you can upgrade a report definition file.
In order to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
“we have cell, column, row shifting problem and every element of the report is not in the same place as appose to 2005 render to xls format” Could you please provide detailed information about the problem? I would be appreciated it if you could provide
a screenshot.
Did you update the reports by opening the .rdl files in SSDT?
Could you export report to Excel 2003 to see if it displays correctly?
This may be a lot of information to ask for at one time. However, by collecting this information now, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
Question2:
I tested the issue in my local machine, when we add drillthrough action to the report, if we select Go to report or Go to URL, the link works fine after we export report to excel. It failed to work when we use javascript:void window.open to open a URL in new
windows, the “window.open” can’t work in Excel because of the JavaScript protocol can work only with an exact page.

Thank you much for your fast respond. And as for your questions:
1- Yes I did upgrade them by using SSDT tools in VS2012 and then deploy them again into our SSRS2012 report server.
2- For URLs and Hyperlinks, because the action is go to sub report, I used "Go To Report" and by look at content that been blocked by Excel, I have noticed that (Go To Report) action passes IP address of our SSRS Server . I don't know how can I change
it to use the actual path instead.
3- Shifting the Cells and Rows means when I export report (from SSRS 2005) to excel in xls format (Excel 2003 for example), has very same look as it shows in screen, but when I export it from ssrs 2012 to render it in to xlsx format (Excel 2010 in our case)
I face with merging cells and when I compare this xlsx out put with xls out put of very same report I have see the row that used to be on A23 for example now is in A20 or the column that used to be in A7 now is in B9 for example. And required a lot of manual
work on design to work with spaced between text boxes and location of each data region, and overlaps to get the same result. I want to know is there more efficient way to achieve the same out put as xls.
4- I can't export report to render in Excel 2003 (xls) format directly from SSRS server for we don't have that option in our export list, but I did "save it as" xls and faced the same Row, column, cell shifting as with xlsx.

How to Export to Excel a Dynamic Node?

Hi all,
I would to know how it's possible to export in Excel a dynamic Node, created in the wdDoModify() method.
I'd seen the tutorial TutWD_ExcelExport in wich the public method for exportation into Excel 2003 accepts in input a IWDNode attribute, but I can't pass him a dynamic node that I'd created and manipulated in the wdDoModify() method.
How can I do???

OS: Windows XP (SP3)
Crystal Reports : 12.1.0.892
We have a problem for exporting few reports to Excel 2007 (Export to Excel 2003 works fine for those reports).
Getting the bellow while trying to Export to Excel 2007.

Maximun limit of rows - exported to excel

Hi All,
i am using Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Desktop version 10.1.2.00.00
the maximum number of rows that i can export to excel is 65,536. i have tried exporting in excel 2003 and 2007
P.S un-ticked the Tools > Options > Query Governor > Limit retrived data to' field to get all the rows
Is there any setting to control the number of rows exported ?

I work with Oracle discorcerer Plus but I'm able to exporte less than 1000000 rows.
more than 1000000 rows he does trunc the result!
I went to the Option as follows:
P.S un-ticked the Tools > Options > Query Governor > Limit retrived data to' field to get all the rows
but it still limits to 999999 records!

Exporting SAP report to Excel 2003 - cannot use Excel icon

Good morning folks
We have recently installed Excel 2003 and since then we are unable to export reports from SAP (eg ad hoc query) directly into Excel by clicking on the Excel icon - a blank Excel screen is displayed. Any assistance please.
We are still able to export to Excel by clicking on the Print Preview icon and then clicking on the Excel icon.

My users misled me! They were not exporting directly to Excel at all but instead to Excel embedded in the SAP Gui! I have managed to get them to do this again by changing the security settings on Excel as follows: Tools > Macro > security settings - changed from Low to Medium and ticked both boxes in Trusted Publishers.

I am new to OBIEE and was confused about why exporting report views to Excel renders them as .mhtml documents.
I am using version 11.1.1.5.0
What I have tried doing so far is this:
Open Dashboard
Click 'Export' link under my target Analysis within the Dashboard
Excel 2003+
Save As: "SampleFileName.xls" /// type: Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Worksheet
Open the saved file
Get the following warning:The fild you are trying to open, 'SampleFileName.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
Click 'Yes'
(the file opens)
Click 'Save As'the default 'Save as type' shows "Single File Web Page (*.mht, *.mhtml)
I was told to look into using the Delivery Manager APIs to see if I could export the Analysis as a clean Excel document. Is this the right place to look? If so, how would I go about implementing? Are there certain permissions I need within OBIEE in order to implement?
If you have other suggestions, please let me know.

I managed to dramaticaly reduce the embedded code, by changing some export settings detailed below. It appears to be the fonts embedded as base64 by default. The following works well at reducing the size although not completely eliminating it.

Excel 2003 Export fails with Diadem 8.10

We still use Diadem 8.10 on some test stands. These stands were just loaded
with the Office 2003 suite.
Since then, Diadem 8.10 cannot export our data to Excel. Everything seems
fine in Diadem. The export assistance appears to work as always.
When we try to open the exported file in Excel, we get this error:
> "The document is corrupt and cannot be opened. To try and repair it, use the Open and
> Repair command in the Open dialog (File menu) and select Extract Data when prompted.
Then Excel shows "Extracting Data from Export_Data.xls" in the status bar, with a progress control.
Eventually, Excel shows this error:
> Errors where detected in 'Export_Data.xls,' but Microsoft Office Excel was
> able to open the file by making the repairs listed below. Save the file
> to these repairs permanent.

> Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel
> attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have

The result is an Excel file with the correct name, but all cells are empty.
I have tried reinstalling Diadem 8.10, but the results are the same. I can install
Diadem 9.10, and Excel exports are perfect.
Unfortunately, the scripts for our application do not work in 9.10, so we must use
8.10 for a while yet.
Any ideas to fix the Excel export function for 8.10?

What happens if you take that Excel file created by DIAdem 8.1 and try to open it in an older version of Excel? Presumably this used to work fine for you prior to Excel 2003. Does it still? If it does still work, what happens if you then resave this imported Excel file with the older version of Excel. Can this new (resaved) Excel file be opened in Excel 2003?
The new Excel export code that is working correctly for you in DIAdem 9.1 will likely have trouble running in DIAdem 8.1. You could try replacing the "...DIAdem\AddInfo\gfsexcel.dll" in the DIAdem 8.1 directory with the new file from the DIAdem 9.1 directory, but there are no guarantees. You should save a backup version of the dll in case it doesn't work.
