XML Data is getting Truncated

I have a large report that is set up in the concurrent manager of the EBS to have the output as XML so that I can open the file in an Excel template I developed. I have checked the output file and the XML file is complete but when I click on View Output in Oracle the browser opens and the XML data is truncated. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a limit on how big the file can be to view it? Thanks

.... continuation based on Large Report in XML Format issue
if you use excel as template so limitations of excel must be considered
sheet - 65536 rows
so check follow
- view output -> save result (not open yet) -> open from os -> if any errors then see log (will be indicated) -> plz post it
- if your xml is small then do you have any errors then opening?
- "View Output in Oracle the browser opens and the XML data is truncated." - why browser is worked? it's must offer actions: save or open
so check output of concurrent then you run it. it's may be html if yes then your xsl output (from excel template) is shown by browser -> post some details
- result can be truncated because of haven't any data -> in browser -> show html code -> post some details

  • The XML file is getting truncated after reading.

    Hi,
    I have written a code for ABAP Mapping.
    But the file which is getting generated using this mapping have missing fields.
    I tried to debug and found out that the method MAP_BY_ABAP of CL_MAPPING_XMS_PLSRV3 is causing the problem.
    The code is having one function IDX_XML_TO_IDOC which converts XML to IDOC table. I think the xml_data parameter of this function is having some missing data so it is not generating correct fields.
    If anyone can guide me on this issue will be helpful.

    hi,
    >>>>The code is having one function IDX_XML_TO_IDOC which converts XML to IDOC table.
    you have the whole code for this in this doc:

  • FDTA - XML data display

    Hi Gurus,
    I have generated a file using F110 tcode..a XML file is created in FDTA tcode(DMEE tree file)...there are 2 ways of viewing that file in FDTA tcode..first one is directly select that file and click on display button(the file will be opened in the XML format)..second way is downloading the file to local desktop and viewing that file...the problem i am facing is...when i select the display button the file is opening in XML format but the file is not displaying completely- after certain line items the data is getting truncated..for suppose if i have around 60 transactions,it is disapying only 20 line items..but when i see the same file which is downloaded to local desktop,i can see the complete file..Are there any settings to be done for viewing the file completely in FDTA tcode..?
    Pls help

    Just to combine the response from steve into mine
    To prepare your design*
    1) create a xmlSchema that correspond to your document structure
    2) use jaxb, castor or top link to generate java class to manipulate this content into a java application
    3) import these classes into your jdev project
    In the jdev application_
    ui layer
    Create a data control from xml mapped java classes (use the main object)
    Use this data control structure to create ui component, including the method that check the content from the xmlSchema (castor)
    middle tier, mapping
    Take you xml content as CLOB from the database. Create a business component for this step. Get the xml content as a string (or stringBuffer if I remembering correct). Use this object to load the content into you xml java mapped interface (you will find the method in the object to achieve this step, marshal/unm,unmarshal).
    Your xml data will be shown in you ui interface depending on the xml structure (and not as simple xml text, that you don't want I suppose).
    To save the editing, you will have to transform you java object into plain xml (marshal/unmarshal), obtain a string again, load it into the business content and save it into the database.
    Hope it's help you

  • XML Data Load into releational structures

    Hi,
    I am very unexperienced in using XML and have the problem
    to import very large XML data files into existing reletional structures.
    In our production DB we don't use the java engine, so
    that PL/SQL an the SQL Loader are the only available ways to import the data.
    At the moment we get flat files and use the SQL Loader utility. But an interface to a new system send XML data now and I have to fill the same old releational structure with the new data.
    Can anybody give me a hint about the best technic for an high performance import. Are there any existing tools for the relational mapping?
    Regards Ralph

    Thank you for your reply.
    You are right. We only want to break the XML to fill our relational structures. We don't need the XML data further on. But we have to load the data in temporary structures, because we have to transform the data in our own format. (The system which delivers the XML data is external and uses another data model)
    Is there no more elegant way with use of databse built in technics? The XML data we get can be validated against a XML schema.
    So I thought, it could be a way to load the XML in the XDB and register the schema in the database. After that store the XML data in the default generated object relational structures and then programm the data transformation and the data flow between these default structures to our target data structures with PL/SQL.
    I don't know if this way is performant enough.
    If I use an external tool i have to code the relational mapping outside the database and insert the data with use of ODBC in temporary structures which i have to create manualy.
    So I hoped to find a way to load the data in any relational structure using the advantages of XML and XML schema and code the neccasary logic inside the DB.
    Do you have any further hints for my problem?
    Regards Ralph

  • Trying to pass xml data to a web service

    I'm working on an Apex application that is required to pass data to a web service for loading into another (non Oracle) system. The web service expects two stings as input, the first string is simply an ID, the second string is an xml document. I generate an xml 'string' using PL/SQL in an on-submit process prior to invoking the web service. If I pass regular text for the second parameter, the web service returns an error message which is stored in the response collection and displayed on the page as expected. When I pass the the xml data, I get a no data found error and the response collection is empty. I have tried this in our development environment on Apex 3.1.2 (database version 10.2). I also tried this on our Apex 4.0.2 sandbox (with the same Oracle 10.2 database). I have found that once I have nested xml, I get the no data found message, if I pass partial xml data, I get the error response from the web service. Perhaps I am not generating the xml correctly to pass to the web service (this only just occurred to me as I write this)? Or is there an issue passing xml data from Apex to the web service? Any help will be greatly appreciated! here is the code I use to generate the xml string:

I have tried passing a simple string as the second parameter ("dummydata") and partial data in the xml string ("<sendingPerson>Test, Christine</sendingPerson>") the web service returns this error in both cases:
    Error[Validate Data]: (XML) = Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.. Cannot validate the XML! Data Exchange not accepted!Once I pass the entire xml string above, I get an Oracle-01403: no data found error. I have opened the web service in IE and pasted my xml input string and received a valid, verified result, so I am sure that the generated xml is correct. I have spoken with the web service developer; there are no log entries created by the web service when I submit the full xml string, so I suspect the failure is in the Apex application.
    Thanks,
    Christine
    I should add that once I have nested tags in the xml, I get the Oracle no data found error ("<header xmlns=""> <stdXmlVer>2.0</stdXmlVer> <sendingUnit>10</sendingUnit> </header>"). I f I do not have nested tags in the xml ("<notification>[email protected]</notification> <creationDate>2011-12-20</creationDate>"), I get the web service response (error).

    Ok, I think I'm getting closer to thinking this all the way through. When I have used clobs in the past, I've always used the DBMS_CLOB package. I use this to create a temp clob and then make the above calls. I had to go find an example in my own code to remember all of this. So, here is another suggestion... feel free to disregard all the previous code snippets..

    end;This code will use the Database to construct your clob and then convert it back to a varchar2 for output to your webservice. This makes more sense to me now and hopefully you can follow what the process is doing.
    You don't technically need the two varchar2(36767) variables. I used two for naming convention clarity sake. You could use just one multipurpose variable instead.
    If you have any questions, just ask. I'll help if I can.

  • ComboBox XML Data Provider

    Hello all,
    I'm having trouble creating an XML data provider to use for a
    ComboBox. Below is what I've done:
    XML data I get from Rails server:
    <states>
    <state name="Arizona" id="1" />
    </states>
    CDATA:
    import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
    import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
    [Bindable] private var stateData:ArrayCollection;
    private function getStates(event:ResultEvent):void {
    stateData = (event.result as XML).states.state;
    state.dataProvider = stateData;
    state.labelField = "name";
    state.data = "id";
    <mx:ComboBox id="state" />
    This compiles, but when I run it, I don't get anything in the
    ComboBox. I know I'm getting data from the server, because I can
    set the data provider for the ComboBox to be event.result and I see
    all the resulting XML in the ComboBox.
    Please help!!! What am I doing wrong here?!
    Thanks in advance! -- BTR

    Hey Vygo,
    Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it out and let you know
    how it goes. However, I was worried about the attributes so I tried
    it using regular elements as well, but to no avail. Anyway, I'll
    get back to you once I have a chance to try out your suggestion.
    Thanks again! -- BTR

  • FileMaker XML data problems

    I'm a bit of a newbie to getting data from XML into Flash,
    but I'm seeing that this is going to be very important to future
    projects that I work on. I am using FileMaker Pro (currently
    version 7, but upgrading to 8) to create a database and exporting
    XML file from there to read into Flash. I cannot seem to get the
    data from the XML to show up in the Flash movie. I have been
    following a tutorial on Lynda.com on Flash/FileMaker integration,
    but the XML file doesn't look quite the same. Here is the XML data
    I get when exporting from FileMaker:

    I've tried many iterations of the combination of firstChild
    and sibling, but I either get NULL, UNDEFINED, or a blank text area
    where the PersonNam and PersonBio data should go. Here is the
    Actionscript I'm using to load the data:
    myXML = new XML();
    xmlFile = "fmp.xml"
    myXML.load(xmlFile);
    function myOnLoad () {
    PersonNam =
    myXML.firstChild.firstChild.nextSibling.nextSibling.nextSibling.nextSibling.firstChild.fi rstChild.firstChild.nodeValue;
    PersonBio =
    myXML.firstChild.firstChild.nextSibling.nextSibling.nextSibling.nextSibling.firstChild.fi rstChild.nextSibling.firstChild.firstChild.nodeValue;
    myXML.onLoad = myOnLoad;
    I think I just don't understand XML well enough to get the
    right data path. It confuses me that the data in the XML file looks
    different than what I saw on the tutorial.

    I looked over that PDF and started messing around with XPath.
    Although it took a bit of experimentation, I was able to get the
    info I wanted from my XML file with the following code:
    import mx.xpath.XPathAPI;
    var my_xml:XML = new XML();
    my_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    my_xml.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
    trace("onload...");
    if (success) {
    trace("success...");
    path = "/FMPXMLRESULT/RESULTSET/ROW/COL/DATA";
    // Make an array of all the data
    arNodes = mx.xpath.XPathAPI.selectNodeList(this.firstChild,
    path);
    // Display first and second names on screen as a test
    fname = arNodes[0].firstChild;
    lname = arNodes[8].firstChild;
    path2 = "/FMPXMLRESULT/RESULTSET/ROW";
    // Make an array of just the people's names now
    namNodes = mx.xpath.XPathAPI.selectNodeList(this.firstChild,
    path2);
    trace(namNodes[0].firstChild.firstChild.firstChild);
    } else {
    trace("error loading XML");
    my_xml.load("fmp.xml");
    I think I may go the XPath route for my kiosk project. This
    looks quite a bit easier than dealing with the confusing and
    endless firstChild iterations. Thanks again for suggesting this,
    Raymond!

  • Generated XML gets truncated

    Hello,
    I have two databases with same structure/tables, but different character-sets.
    Database A:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET: AL32UTF8
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET: AL16UTF16
    Database B:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET: WE8MSWIN1252
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET: AL16UTF16
    This is the only obvious difference between those databases.
    Now I am trying to generate a XML-document that contains information about the tables in a schema, using data from user_tab_columns, all_constraints and all_cons_columns. The query looks like this:
    SELECT
    XMLElement("tables",
         XMLAgg(
              XMLElement("table",
                   XMLAttributes(
                        v.TABLE_NAME AS "name"
                   XMLAgg(
                        XMLElement("column",
                             XMLAttributes(
                                  v.COLUMN_ID AS "id",
                                    v.COLUMN_NAME AS "name",
                                    v.DATA_TYPE AS "type",
                                    v.COL_LENGTH AS "length",
                                    v.NULLABLE AS "isNullable"
                             XMLElement("constraints",
                                  (SELECT
                                       XMLAgg(
                                            XMLElement("constraint",
                                                 XMLAttributes(
                                                     DECODE(uc.constraint_type,
                                                         'P', 'PRIMARY_KEY',
                                                      'R', 'FOREIGN_KEY') AS "type",
                                                      uc2.table_name AS "referencedTable"
                                  FROM
                                  all_cons_columns ucc,
                                  all_constraints uc,
                                  all_constraints uc2
                                  WHERE ucc.table_name = v.table_name
                                  AND ucc.column_name = v.column_name
                                  AND ucc.table_name = uc.table_name(+)
                                  AND ucc.constraint_name = uc.constraint_name(+)
                                  AND uc.r_constraint_name = uc2.constraint_name(+)
                                  /* only primary and foreign key constraints */
                                  AND uc.constraint_type IN ('P', 'R'))
    FROM
      (SELECT uc.TABLE_NAME, uc.COLUMN_ID, uc.COLUMN_NAME, uc.DATA_TYPE,
       (CASE uc.CHAR_LENGTH WHEN 0 THEN uc.DATA_LENGTH ELSE uc.CHAR_LENGTH END) AS COL_LENGTH,
       uc.NULLABLE
       FROM user_tab_columns uc
       ORDER BY uc.TABLE_NAME, uc.COLUMN_ID) v
    GROUP BY v.TABLE_NAMERunning the query on database B works perfectly and gives a well-formed XML-document. Running the same query on database A also works BUT it yields a somewhat "truncated" document! For example the output contains the following:
    <table name="table1">
    ... lots of <column>elements ..
    </table>
    le name="table2">
    ... many more elements, all correctly fomatted ...So as you can see, the beginning of the <table> tag of the second entry in the document just gets truncated.
    And when I add the following condition to "v": WHERE uc.table_name IN('table1', 'table2'), the result from database A does only contain the XML structure for 'table1', in database 2 it correctly gives me the two <table> elements!
    It's very weird!
    Thanks for any hints!
    Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Prod on Linux
    I'm connecting via SQL Developer, using JDBC I'm getting the same results.
    Edited by: user474106 on 23.06.2009 12:03

    Yes, it's the same in SQL*Plus.
    I now found out that when I leave out the XMLElement "contraints" (i.e. the query that determines the constraint information), I get at least an element for each table in the resulting document. But of course now the constraint information is missing...
    Leaving out the first "XMLAgg" I get a row for each table, which is not exactly what I need, because I want to have a single document. But at least the result ain't truncated ... maybe I should concatenate the single rows as a workaround... any ideas on how to do that? Or should I do this on the client side?
    Thanks for your help so far!

  • Sporadically getting error "string or binary data would be truncated" in SQL server 2008 while inserting in a Table Type object

    I am facing a strange SQL exception:-
    The code flow is like this:
    .Net 4.0 --> Entity Framework --> SQL 2008 ( StoredProc --> Function {Exception})
    In the SQL Table-Valued Function, I am selecting a column (nvarchar(50)) from an existing table and (after some filtration using inner joins and where clauses) inserting the values in a Table Type Object having a column (nvarchar(50))
    This flow was working fine in SQL 2008 but now all of sudden the Insert into @TableType is throwing  "string or binary data would be truncated"  exception.
    Insert Into @ObjTableType
    Select * From dbo.Table
    The max length of data in the source column is 24 but even then the insert statement into nvarchar temp column is failing.
    Moreover, the same issue started coming up few weeks back and I was unable to find the root cause, but back then it started working properly after few hours
    (issue reported at 10 AM EST and was automatically resolved post 8 PM EST). No refresh activity was performed on the database.
    This time however the issue is still coming up (even after 2 days) but is not coming up in every scenario. The data set, for which the error is thrown, is valid and every value in the function is fetched from existing tables.
    Due to its sporadic nature, I am unable to recreate it now :( , but still unable to determine why it started coming up or how can i prevent such things to happen again.
    It is difficult to even explain the weirdness of this bug but any help or guidance in finding the root cause will be very helpful.
    I also Tried by using nvarchar(max) in the table type object but it didn't work.

    I have tried by converting the columns and also validated the input data set for any white spaces or special characters.
    For the same input data, it was working fine till yesterday but suddenly it started throwing the exception.

    Remember, the CTE isn't executing the SQL exactly in the order you read it as a human (don't get too picky about that statement, it's at least partly true enough to say it's partly true), nor are the line numbers or error messages easy to read: a mismatch
    in any of the joins along the way leading up to your insert could be the cause too.  I would suggest posting the table definition/DDL for:
    - PSMetadata, in particular PSRowID, but just post it all
    - tblProjectSur, in particularcolumns CSymbID and TblProjSurSurID
    - cSymbLookup, in particular column CSymbID
    - PSRow, in particular columns SampleRowID, PID,
    - PSAuser and PSUserSur, in particualr all the USERID and RowID columns
    - SurCSymbs, in particular colum SIDs
    Also, a diagnostic query along these lines, repeat for each of your tables, each of the columns used in joins leading up to your insert:
    Select count(asurv.sid) as count all
    , count(case when asurv.sid between 0 and 9999999999 then 1 else null end) as ctIsaNumber
    from SurvCsymb
    The sporadic nature would imply that the optimizer usually chooses one path to the data, but sometimes others, and the fact that it occurs during the insert could be irrelevant, any of the preceding joins could be the cause, not the data targeted to be inserted.

  • Data getting truncated while exporting report to a text file in crystal 10?

    Hi All,
    I am using crystal 10.When exporting report to a text file ,a dialog prompts asking for Character perinch with a default value 9.If I change the value from 9 to 16 i am getting the correct data(that means character per inch value is 16) and it update "CharPerInch" value in registry under following location to 16.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\10.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Text
    The dialog asked for character per inch also has option to select not to prompt again and i also selected that in first go.
    When i export the report again in text format it didn't prompt for number of character per inch but the data gets truncated.
    What i believe is even though it updates entry in registry and reads, it is not using the same value for export. It never consider the value that is in registry, if the check box is not selected then it is using the value entered in the dialog and if the check box is selected then in the next run it uses the default value as 9.
    Can anyone suggest me how to override this problem ? Is there any other setting place in registry where i can enter the number of character per inch.I don't want to crystal to prompt always for character per inch.

    Hi Venkateswaran,
    The other option to avoid truncation of the data could be
    Right click the text filed
    Click on Format Text to open the Format Editor
    On Common tab check the text box for Can Grow.
    This will prevent the data from truncating in preview as well as while exporting to text.
    Otherwise you will have to set the characters per inch to 16 each time. I donu2019t see changing the registry value causing any difference here.

    when i run the report output is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <XMLTEST>
    <P1 />
    </XMLTEST>
    i do not see my query in the data template getting executed. i am expecting my 3 columns that i have defined in the query to be shown up in the output xml file.
    I'd really appreciate if someone can help me here. Thanks a lot

    <?xml version = "1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

  • Getting XML data of SSIS Package (which is located in File System) from a query

    Hi,
    We have around 200 SSIS packages deployed to File System. These pacakges are being scheduled using SQL Agent job.
    So, currently I have a list of all the packages and their respective File Path.
    Note : **They are NOT deployed to Server**.
    Now, my task is to search all the packages which has a specific connection in it.
    From the below blog, I got to know we can achieve this by querying the XML data of the SSIS Package.
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/ssis/-exploring-ssis-architecture-and-execution-history-through-scripting/.
    But in the above article they are getting the XML definition of the Package from msdb(as it was deployed to server).
    In my requirement, SSIS Packages are in File System. Is there any way to to get the XML definition of these packages using a query.
    Please let me know if the above requirement is not clear or if any further information is required.
    Thanks
    Raksha

    Hi Visakh & Praveen,
    Thanks for the response.
    @Visakh: The query provided by you gives the information about all the connection strings in the package.
    @Praveen: The query in the link provided by you lists the values of all the properties of the package like MaxerrorCount, CreatorName, CreatorDate and other properties.
    I think, we may have to slightly modify this query to get the connection string values
    Praveen, nice to hear from you after a long time and that too in this forum !! :) Hope you are doing good.
    Thanks
    Raksha

  • In Read_text FM, the data after 256 characters gets truncated

    Hi All,
    In this FM, the internal table can't have string type field. In my case the data is in multiple lines of internal table and I am concatenating into a single field which is of type DESCRIPTIONS(string). I am passing this data to a table in smartform.Only 255 characters are printed, remaining data gets truncated. I am using CONVERT_OTF and SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE FMs to create PDF. Is it the limitation or I am incorect here?

    Your posting title is misleading; there's nothing wrong with FM READ_TEXT.  Yes, it returns a table of type TLINE, as you've noted.  Perhaps you could close this post and repost in FORM PRINTING with an appropriate title like: Can't show more than 255 characters of text.....but search first, because you cannot be the first person to encounter this limitation.

  • What is the best way to get rid of duplicates in the XML data?

    Hi all,
    Please help me with the best way to get rid of the duplicates in the XML data. Will a transform with some stylesheet do the trick? I need to read on the stylesheet first, but please tell me if that is possible. I have to deal with XML data that has tons of duplicate data. Please see one section of an XML file. You can see that for each charge, the same defendant information (address, ID numbers, etc) is included. Having 10 charges is not uncommon, so I would have the same data repeated 10 times. I first thought that I would use some temp tables to do that, but I wonder if there were a better way. Thanks a lot. Please see the data below.
    Ben

  • How to get & use xml data with jstl libraries? (URGENT PLZ)

    I am using jstl to get and use xml data
    I needs to perform operations on the parsed xml document with other libraries of jstl. How can i do that.
    I used Dom variable to parse my document as:
    <x:parse varDom="test"> <c:import url="project.xml"/> </x:parse>
    where my project.xml is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <project>      <projectName>myProject</projectName> </project>
    I can dislay this value in html by
    <x:out select="$test/project/projectName"/>
    But I need a string value sotred in variable such as <c:set var="pname" value="???">
    HOW CAN I SET THIS VALUE IN CORE VARIABLE THAT IS, USING <c:set...> SO THAT IT CAN BE USED ANYWHERE IN JSP PAGE TO CONCATE RETURNED STRING IN OTHER STRING VARIABLES DEFINED BY CORE LIB?

    I believe that <c:set> should do that but i am facing problem in it. Look into this jsp scriptlet:
    1-<x:parse varDom="test"> <c:import url="project.xml"/> </x:parse>
    2-<x:set var="ds" select="$test/project/projectName"/>
    3-<x:out select="$ds"/> <br>
    4-<c:set var="tt" value="${ds}" />
    5-<c:out value="${tt}" />
    In line 3 variable ds returns: myProject
    In line 5 variable tt returns: [[projectName: null]]
    perhaps on line 4 ds is storing some array to tt and i am not calling correct array element. I tried many options but still could not find solution. Plz Plz do something urgent for me. Thanks
