XML form field should be read only.

Hi All,
Can we have a field in a XML form which is read only and the number in field should be incremented every time a new form is created.
Is this possible.If yes can someone please guide me how.
Thanks,
Nikhil Pai

Hi Nikhil,
Do u want this property to come in the Edit form also, or only on the show form?
If its only on show form,
1. Keep a text file in KM with a starting number say 1000.
2. While creating the XML form, a KM Service listening to resource creation only in the folders,
will update a property and also edit the text file and replace the number by 1001.
So in the show form u will have a unique number for each XML form.

• XML FORM  -  How to save read-only controls with a default value

Hello everybody,
I have a 3 xml forms, each one to create one type of news. I need to use 3 because each of this forms has their own controls. But the control which indicates the type of news (asociated with a KM Predefined Property) must be common in the 3 forms, in order to use it on searches.
The question is, how can I include in this forms a control:
      - Visible for the user
      - With a default value defined in the control properties (each form has a different value, corresponding with the type of news)
      - Read-only mode
      - The value showed in the control must be saved in the associated KM Predefined Property when the user clicks the Save button.
Anyone knows how to do this?
What control can I use?
I was thinking of trying with text boxes, but I don't find the way to make them unwritable (Read only mode).
It is posible using labels?
Thanks.
Kind regards

Hello Jose,
I know you responded with a question... I see it in the email, but I don't see it here!  Very odd... but in response:
The first thing I do when I open the Edit.xsl file is do a 'find' for the name of the text field that I want to be read-only (in my test case, it's 'location').  Repeat the find until you see something like:
<!--
field location
-->
Below there is where I put the new code.  Mine looks like this:
- <xsl:choose>
- <xsl:when test="location='' and ($editmode='create')">
- <xsl:choose>
- <xsl:when test="./xf:ValidationError/@tagname='location'">
- <input name="location" size="30" type="text" class="urEdfiTxtEnbl" id="field_1157467268006">
- <xsl:attribute name="tabindex">
- <xsl:choose>
      <xsl:when test="$accessibilitymode='true'">21</xsl:when>
      <xsl:otherwise>3792</xsl:otherwise>
      </xsl:choose>
      </xsl:attribute>
- <xsl:attribute name="value">
      <xsl:value-of select="''" />
      </xsl:attribute>
- <xsl:attribute name="readonly">true</xsl:attribute>
      </input>
      </xsl:when>
- <xsl:otherwise>
- <input name="location" size="30" type="text" tabindex="3792" class="urEdfTxtEnbl" id="field_1157467268006">
- <xsl:attribute name="value">
      <xsl:value-of select="''" />
      </xsl:attribute>
- <xsl:attribute name="readonly">true</xsl:attribute>
      </input>
      </xsl:otherwise>
      </xsl:choose>
I put the <xsl:attribute name="readonly"> in both places (when test, and when not test).  I'm not entirely sure if that's necessary, but that worked for me.
Hope this helps,

Hi,
Below steps for Vo extension:
---Copy the package in which that seeded vo exists to your local machine where you have jdeveloper installed.
---Create a new OA Workspace and project.
---Create your Custom package and in that create new View Object with new Query including your new attribute.
Ensure in the extends you select the Seeded VO.
---While creating VO select in extends property standard vo and create tr attribute.
---Double click on your jpx and go to substitution and select seeded VO in available list and Custom VO in Substitute List Click on Add.
---FTP the new package you created to $JAVA_TOP
---Run jpxImport utility for your substitution to take place.
---Bounce apache.
---Through personalisation set read only for Number as i given in SPEL.${oa.seacrhVo1.readonlytr}.
---While you will attach VO to that field ensure View Instance name is your Seeded View Instance name while view Attribute will be your new Attribute added.

• Form field tool tips & Read Out Loud

I know that having tool tips for form fields in a PDF is a requirement for accessibility. When I use View > Read This Page in Acrobat, the reader does not read the tool tips for the form fields, even though I've turned on Read form fields in Preferences > Reading. I have a both check boxes and text fields on the form.
What do I need to do to have the Read This Page feature read the form field tool tips?
And, if the Read This Page features does actually read the form field tool tips, wouldn't it be rather redundant that it reads the tool tip and then it also reads the text label printed on the form?
Are certain types of form fields considered 'not accessible?'
Thanks for any help you can provide.

What do I need to do to have the Read This Page feature read the form field tool tips?
Sorry, to the best of my knowledge the Acrobat Read Out Loud feature cannot be coaxed into reading form field tips. But you have other options like the PAC 1.3 preview feature and the Callas pdfGoHTML plug in - that let you see the form fields and tips in the context that an assistive technology user would hear them. Or you could use the excellent free screen reader NVDA. Or pay for JAWS.
And, if the Read This Page features does actually read the form field tool tips, wouldn't it be rather redundant that it reads the tool tip and then it also reads the text label printed on the form?
Yes, form field tips can be repetitive. Accessibility rules can be dogmatic. If a form field is labeled and tagged properly and it would be annoyingly repetitive to include a tip, and if you are not constrained by a must-pass-the-dogmatic-accessibility-checker rule, feel free to use your good judgment regarding when it makes sense to leave out the tip.
Are certain types of form fields considered 'not accessible?'
My understanding is that XFA-based PDF forms are problematic from an accessibility standpoint. Standard PDF forms should always be made accessible.
Hope this helps.

• Fields appear as "Read Only" in an Int.Form called from a WD

Hi Experts!
I am having a doubt in an Adobe Int.Form, that is called from a WD application.
The fields that are in my Form, always appear as a "read only". It is not possible to modify anything there.
Here, I describe the steps that I follow.
I create a very simple WD application. In its WD View, exist an unique Object (Adobe Interactive Form).
In that object, I set the properties:
"Data source": a context variable type "my structure". "My structure", is a simple structure with a couple or three fields, let´s say PERNR, BUKRS, WERKS... It is linked to the Form Interface (ABAP DICTIONARY-BASED INTERFACE). So in this way, the link between my WD and the AdobeInt.Form is working.
"PDF Source": a context variable type XSTRING.
"Template Source": here I have set my Int.Form. Currently, it only contains a couple of fields
"Enabled": True.
"Read Only": False.
In the AdobeForm, I have drag & droped those 2 or 3 fields, save it, and activate it. I guess nothing more is needed, for my test.
And at last, in the View´s method WDDOINIT, I am reading one of those fields, let´s say the employee number (PERNR), and I set by hardcoding its number (let´s say -> 00000001).
Until here, everything seems to work fine. When I launch the WD test, the Adobeform appears, at the moment, with only one of my fields (Employee - PERNR), and its value is filled in with '00000001'.
But now, I would like to write something by myself. And when I try to do it, it is not possible! Field PERNR, is displayed as a "READ ONLY".
Someone knows what is happening here? I guess it should be possible, to activate as a "EDITABLE" that field in my Form.
So here is my doubt.
Am I doing anything wrong? Or am I doing any mistake?
Thank you very much in advance!

Finally I think I have found the problem.
In the View where I am printing the ADOBEFORM, it is needed this code under the method WDDOMODIFYVIEW.
method WDDOMODIFYVIEW .
      DATA: LV_INTERACTIVE_FORM   TYPE REF TO CL_WD_INTERACTIVE_FORM,
                 LV_METHOD_HANDLER     TYPE REF TO IF_WD_IACTIVE_FORM_METHOD_HNDL.
      LV_INTERACTIVE_FORM ?= VIEW->GET_ELEMENT( 'INT_FORM' ). "   adobeform object in view
      IF LV_INTERACTIVE_FORM IS NOT INITIAL.
          LV_METHOD_HANDLER ?= LV_INTERACTIVE_FORM->_METHOD_HANDLER.
          LV_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_LEGACY_EDITING_ENABLED( ABAP_TRUE ).
          LV_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_HIDE_NAVIGATION_PANEL( ABAP_TRUE ).
          LV_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_DISABLE_PRINT_BUTTON( ABAP_TRUE ).
          WD_THIS->M_METHOD_HANDLER ?= LV_INTERACTIVE_FORM->_METHOD_HANDLER.
          WD_THIS->M_METHOD_HANDLER->SET_HIDE_TOOLBARS( ABAP_TRUE ).
        ENDIF.
endmethod.

• Acrobat form field that allows Reader user to browse and insert a picture into a predefined area

Is there a way to do insert a form field into an AcroForm that allow Reader users to browse and insert a picture into that form field?
I know that LiveCycle can do this, but I need to do this using an AcroForm. Or maybe there's a third-party plug-in that can be used in an AcroForm to do this?

Jay,
The new version of Reader, which was announced today (see AcrobatUsers.com), will now allow you to use the field.buttonImportIcon method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.737.html
For a bit more information, see: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743823
Here's the minimum code that can be used in the Mouse Up event of a button that's configured with a layout that's something other than "Label only":
// Mouse Up script for a button
event.target.buttonImportIcon();
Since this isn't backwards compatible with Reader, you'll probably want to add additional code to test what version is being used and alert the user if it's pre-11. You should also check the return value to see if anything went wrong. The hard part is getting everyone to upgrade, but this and a number of other features should make it worth it.

• Multivalue XML Forms field

Hello.
we will need multiple values in user dialogs, mostly KM File references. We dont now on beforehand how many there will be per entry.
And we want to do it with XML Forms.
From what I read so far, I cannot tell whether this is possible at all, so please post your suggestions.
regards
Carsten

Hi Carsten,
you cannot create a form with a dynamic number of input fields or something similar. Anyhow, you can offer for example 20 input possibilities within the edit form and only those fields filled in will be presented in the show form, when mapping the content to labels, for example.
Hope it helps

• Form personalization for a read only responsibility for a custom form

Hi,
I have a read only responsibility. My requirement is to make a custom form updatable through this responsibility but wth a condition that only the specific custom form should be updatable and rest all other form accessed through read only responsibility be read only. How can i achieve this using form personalization?
Pls give me detailed steps if possible.
Thanks

I tried override Query Only values through Forms Personalization but it did not work for me. With a bit of determination I might have been able to work around it but no luck on that front.
You can do it this way, although it's a bit cumbersome:
1. Clone every function and menu in the Responsibility
2. In all but your custom function set the Function parameter QUERY_ONLY=YES

• User-entered field treated as read-only

I created a large form in version 7. I brought it into version 8 to work on it some more. I believe this may be related to going from 7 to 8...
I have lots of numeric fields in rows and columns. All the fields are User Entered - Optional. When I view it in Preview, one field in the middle will not allow entry. It's as if the field were Read Only. I go back to Design mode and the field is still listed as User Entered. This occurs on a few pages.
Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

My office uses Times New Roman as a standard font for all our forms, I dragged several of the most used standard objects into a blank form, altered them to fit our standards and then dragged them back into the standard tab. Much easier than going through the process each and every time you need to pull a field in, fyi. You can also put a script into a field and put it into either the custom tab or create your own tab for personal objects, I find this saves me huge time by not having to re-type scripts over and over.

• Ipad form ....help needed please.  Clear form after email as read only and sequential numbering

Hi
i am a complete novice at this however this is what I want to achieve.
i Have a paper duplicate report sheet that I want to get electronically, I want to be able to add sequential numbers to each report and be able to email the report to the client from a email field in the form
so far I have so I have created the pdf form, I have a button that runs a JavaScript that will hide the submit button and then send to the clients email and to bcc myself so I have a copy of the report also. This has been tested and works
i Am struggling with sequential numbering and once the form has been emailed it's un-ditable as the JavaScript has converted it to read only for emailing which is good as it can't be edited. But Is there a way on my submit button to email the report as read only and then clear all form fields in the report ready for filling with the next sequential number?
I Have had a good look sound for a resolution to this but am struggling
many thanks in advance for any feedback
paul

Hi Paul,
I presume that you are using the desktop version of Acrobat Pro to author the form.
I will move this discussion to the PDF Forms forum so that the experts in the forum can answer your question.
Please note that the Reader/Acrobat DC mobile apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.) have limited JavaScript support.
JavaScript for Reader Mobile API Reference (iOS)
You may be able to make the form work as you want in the desktop version of Adobe Reader/Acrobat Reader DC.  However, some functionality (e.g adding a sequence number to each PDF) will not work in the mobile apps due to the limited JavaScript support.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

• Render button ok but fields displayed as read-only(solved)

Dear JHeadstart,
I'm trying to solve the next situation.
I'm Using a form with 'Same Page?' checked.
I'm rendering an add-button: when a row is not found I display the add button and when a row is found, the add button is not displayed.
This works well with the EL expression: #{bindings.<viewobject>InputDate.inputValue eq null} in the 'Insert allowed EL expression'. For if now row is found this field is null.
But when I press the add button I only get readonly fields where I'm hoping for inputfields to fill so I can insert a new row in the table.
In the jspx file I find, the EL expression I used, back for every field in the form.
The form is based on a VO based on 2 entity objects. One is always updateble (here I want to have the inputfields) and one is read-only.
I've also tried the EL: #{!((bindings.<viewobject>Iterator.currentRowIndexInRange!=-1 and bindings.<viewobject>Iterator.findMode!='true'))} which is used to render the value="#{nls['NO_ROWS_FOUND']}" in de jspx file.
but with the same results.
So what can I do to make those fields insertable?
Help will be appreciated!
regards,
Marcel.
After some more googling I found:
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/bcvoeo009.htm#BABJEEFA
Section 7.9.3 got me on track.
In my create() the InputDate field was filled (sic).
When I used another field in the EL, it worked.

• XML form field choice list to be populated by collaboration room names

I would like to create a news form used within collaboration rooms where one field should include the name of the room where the news entry is created.
Preferably this should be done automatically as works for date and author fields ($date, $sap_user), but could also be done manually if there is a way to populate the list with all available room names. If so, how do I get these to show up in the XML forms builder. There is a property 'Room' with sub-property 'Name' in the builder's property menu, but I can't see how to use this to get the room name displayed in the form.

Steve
Thanks!  After working with the example you sent me, I was able to get it to work -- great!  However, this method seems to overwrite all the other XML in my xfa:data -- not great!
For example, without the script, I have something like this in my form data variable after a form is completed and submitted:
- <xdp:xdp xmlns:xdp="http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/" timeStamp="2010-08-05T15:07:02Z" uuid="62d739de-6eb3-4ae2-8cfc-4eab0dd87f17">
- <xfa:datasets xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/">
- <xfa:data>
- <root>
- <performanceReview>
<badgeNumber>8107</badgeNumber>
<associateName>NATHAN JANNASCH</associateName>
<department>Information System</department>
<section>IS - System Devlopment</section>
<jobFamily>Professional Staff</jobFamily>
<GLBadge />
<groupLeader />
</performanceReview>
<FSTARGETURL_ />
</root>
</xfa:data>
However, when I use the script as you described above and in your sample to load the data for the dropdown list, I get this in my form data variable:
- <xdp:xdp xmlns:xdp="http://ns.adobe.com/xdp/" timeStamp="2010-08-05T15:10:17Z" uuid="62d739de-6eb3-4ae2-8cfc-4eab0dd87f17">
- <xfa:datasets xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/">
- <xfa:data>
- <GroupLeaders>
- <GroupLeader>
<GLBadge type="varchar">8103</GLBadge>
<GLName type="nvarchar">AARON MEISTER</GLName>
</GroupLeader>
- <GroupLeader>
<GLBadge type="varchar">5221</GLBadge>
<GLName type="nvarchar">AB EDMONDS</GLName>
</GroupLeader>
</GroupLeaders>
</xfa:data>
It looks like the data the script loads is overwriting all of my other xfa:data.  This is quite bad, as my process is dependent upon this data.  Is there a way to append the dropdownlist data to the xfa:data, or perhaps load it into another node, rather than overwriting the existing xfa:data elements?
Thanks!
Toby

• *How to download a list into Excel/Notepad which should be Read only type*

Hi All ,I have a requirement to Download the Report list to a Hardcoded path ie., this path should not change if a user tries to change and the File which gets downloaded should be automatically created as Read-Only.This is an Urgent requirement,kindly help me out.
Regards,
Rahul.

Yes its possible Qui,
you need to perform following steps:
1. check the codelink property of that particular iview.
2. download the .par file from systemadmin-> support.
3. import in NWDS, and make change in the .jsp or .java file of that iviews component.
4. you need to know which BAPIs to be called for accessing the report, then export the .par file and make a new iview out of that .par file.
5. now you will get that button in your iView.
6. calling the proper backend function/BAPI is your task now.

• Problem with fillable form showing up as read-only

I created a fillable form in Acrobat 8 Professional. It opens fine for me directly from where I saved the file or when I click on it from a link which I posted on our Web site. However, no one in the office gets the same results - it opens as read-only for them when I send it as an email attachment or when they click on the same link from our Web site.  We are using the same version of Acrobat Reader (10.1.3). What can I do?
Thank you.

The problem is the file is a PDF/A document, and the other users have the user preference set to display PDF/A documents in PDF/A mode, so any changes are not allowed. The users can turn this off (Edit > Preferences > Documents > PDF/A View Mode, or you can remove the PDF/A information from the document. The latter is the better appoach. Here's a link to an action that you can install that will do this for you: http://acrobatusers.com/actions-exchange/remove-pdf-a-information
and here's one with more information: http://blogs.adobe.com/acrolaw/2011/05/how-to-remove-pdfa-information-from-a-file/

• Field Validation on Read Only Field

I'm trying to create a pop up error box if a field contains null values. The problem is that the field I'm trying to do the validation on is a read-only field. It's the Account field on the Contact Object or Module. It won't allow me to include validation. The goal here is to have a POP UP ERROR box come up if someone does not select a value for that field. Making it required doesn't generate a popup box, it only has a small "required" text next to the field which can be easily missed by a user. Any ideas?

Hi !
I found the way to do what you wan't, but it sounds a bit strange for me...
You have to put a field validation on the Account Id field. I made some tests to know what is in the AccountId field when it's blank and i see that the value is "No Match Row Id" !!
So your validation rule must be simply
*&lt;&gt; "No Match Row Id"*
It worked for me, the error message appears... But I think this is something we have to report to Oracle...
Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !
