XML SQL functions causing internal errors in PL/SQL
Still busy searching through Metalink, but have yet to find anything useful. Maybe someone can point me towards a URL or a doc ref that has some hints on how to solve the following:
Oracle: 10.2.0.1.0 46bit
O/S: HP-UX 11
SQL> var l varchar2(4000)
SQL>
SQL>
SQL> select XMLForest( 123 as "ID" ) as L from dual;
L
<ID>123</ID>
SQL> begin
2 select XMLForest( 123 as "ID" ) into :l from dual;
3 end;
4 /
select XMLForest( 123 as "ID" ) into :l from dual;
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-06550: line 2, column 2:
PLS-00801: internal error [*** ASSERT at file pdw4.c, line 793;
Cannot coerce between type 43 and type 30; anon_c000000044b37bb0__AB[2, 2]]
SQL> begin
2 EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'select XMLForest( 123 as "ID" ) from dual' into :l;
3* end;
SQL> /
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
SQL> print l
L
<ID>123</ID>
Ah.. found the problem. The function returns a type which result is implicitly type casted to a varchar2 it seems when running a SELECT on it via the SQL engine.
PL/SQL sees it as a type (which it is) and expects you to put it into a var of the same type. It does not allow/perform the implicit conversion to varchar2.
But then SQL is not Turing Complete so I guess we'll have to let the SQL Engine slide on doing these implicit conversions... :-)

Hi,
running SQL*Loader (Release 8.1.7.2.1) causes an error "SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: Maximum record length must be <= [10000000]". This error occurs when SQLLoader is trying to load several thousand records into a database table. Each record is less than 250 bytes in length.
Any idea what could cause the problem?
Thanks in advance!
Ingo

SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: Maximum record length must be <= [10000000]As a second guess, the terminator changes or goes missing at some point in the data file. If you are running on *NIX, try wc -l data_file_name. This will give a count of the number of lines (delimited by CHR(10) ) that are in the file. If this is not close to the number you expected, then that is your problem.
You could also try gradually working through the data file loading 100 records, then 200, then 300 etc. to see where it starts to fail.

SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIInitialize [1804]
I tried using MassLoader to load some data into the local database on the Oracle 9i server. MassLoader first generated the data files and then called sqlldr to load the data into the db. It failed and I received SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIInitialize [1804]. I tried with Oracle 8i sqlldr and it worked fine. So, the problem seems to be with Oracle 9i sqlldr. Is there any fix for this or how can I investigate it? Thanks in advance.
The problem lies in permissions in $ORACLE_HOME. I had the problem and came up with two solutions. The first was to chmod 6751 sqlldr. The second I liked better was to go thru the subdirectores and insure that all of the files were marked as accessable by others. After talking with fellow dba's we changed the permissions to 755 on all directories but bin. Again this might not be the correct fix but it works
try again after changing
ORA_NLS33=$ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data
to
ORA_NLS33=$ORACLE_RDBMS/ocommon/nls/admin/data
try above solution and let us know. -

Anyone pls help me in solving this issue...
Thanks,
KrThis means that the tnsname being used is not being recognized by Oracle. Check your tnsnames.ora file and see if you're using the correct connection string for the database you are trying to connect to. Furthermore, do you have more than one oracle installation on your PC? If that is the case then you should copy the correct entry and replicate it to other tnsnames.ora files. Only for the sake of knowledge, I would like to know if you are using the connection string from the sqlplus session of your PC, but you're executing SQL Loader from another machine?

SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIEnvCreate [-1]
I am getting the following error on my Windows XP box:

SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIEnvCreate [-1]
I have an Oracle_Home env variable set to the oracle directory.
Please helpI know its an older thread and the thread was about Oracle 10.2.x I worked on client 11.2.0.1 but I thought I can share what I did to add sqlldr to instant Oracle client.
I used Oracle instant client 11.2.0.1 with sqlplus. I also downloaded and installed the full Oracle client 11.2.0.1 to have access to the sqlldr files. I chose Custom install and only installed the utilities.
- Within the oracle instant client directory make sure that you put all sqlldr related files into a bin directory.
- Make sure you have all libraries that are needed by sqlldr copied from the full client into the bin directory. Also copy the sqlldr.exe into the bin folder.
- Copy directory nls from the full client to the instant client (especially the information in subdirectory "data" seems to be needed)
- Copy directory rdbms from the full client to the instant client. This contains the error messages. I only copied mesg/oraus.msb and mesg/ulus.msb. However, if you dont get all files you risk that you will not have meaningful error messages.
- Copy directory oracore from the full client to the instant client (especially the information in subdirectory "timezone" seem to be needed).
To find out which files sqlldr is trying to access you can use strace, truss on Unix systems or ProcessMonitor on Windows.
To run the sqlldr I needed to set the environment variable ORACLE_HOME to the instant client directory. I also created a tnsnames.ora file and set TNS_ADMIN to the directory the tnsnames.ora is located. -
Hi All,
I was running a java program which uses java runtime to call Oracle SQL Loader to load a data file inthe Data base , After loading one file sucessfully , the process stopped after giving the error -:
SQL*Loader execution exited with EX_FAIL, see logfile:SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIServerAttach [0]

SQL*Loader-704: Internal error
Dear all,
I have run this command in windows
sqlplus a/b@c
it is connected successfully, I can run sql and results returned.
however, I run this sql loader command
sqlldr a/b@c control=test.ctl data=test.txt
but error is returned
SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIServerAttach [0]
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
what are the reasons and why?
thank you very much!Hi,
I had the same problem. I already fixed it!
I use two ORACLE_HOME, one for Oracle Client and one for Oracle Developer Suite 10g. The sqlplus.exe is in both BIN directories, but sqlldr is only in client's ORACLE_HOME\BIN directory.
When you run sqlplus.exe, it uses tnsnames.ora from devsuite's ORACLE_HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN, I think, it contains rows for SID=c.
When you run sqlldr.exe, it uses tnsnames.ora from client's ORACLE_HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN, I think, it does not contain rows for SID=c (my tnsnames.ora did not contain them).
Make both tnsnames.ora the same and your problem will be fixed.

Sporadic errors in XML DB (ORA-00600: internal error code)
We observe a sporadic error in an XML DB based application. The error message is as follows:
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxMakeFake1], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
Our application uses Java / JDBC to connect to the Oracle XML DB server (Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production). The error occurs for several SQL queries that involve changes to XML files in the database. Here are two representative examples:
update EPIGRAPH_095 e set value(e) = insertchildxml(value(e),'/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_164952_518077172"]/class_analysis/attribute_calc_analysis','results',XMLType(:1)) WHERE e.existsNode('/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_164952_518077172"]/class_analysis/attribute_calc_analysis') = 1
update EPIGRAPH_095 e set value(e) = updatexml(value(e),'/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_145224_574975277"]/global_settings/job_tracking/status',XMLType(:1)) WHERE e.existsNode('/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_145224_574975277"]/global_settings/job_tracking/status') = 1
In these queries, ":1" is a CLOB that is created and filled from Java using the CLOB object. We use XML decomposition into object-relational tables via a registered schema.
The error occurs sporadically in roughly 5% percent of the calls and we could not construct a testcase which reproduces it in a deterministic way.
Thank you in advance,
Christoph BockDid you get any additional hints from your development colleagues? We still don't have any clear idea about how to solve the problem. Our current workaround is to repeat any failed query until it succeeds. Typically, one or two repetitions will do the job, but this workaround is obviously very ugly and may well give rise to infinite loops (as we don't understand the cause of the sporadic errors).
Thank you and best regards,
Christoph Bock -
I have created an RDL file programatically. When I execute the code I get the error as mentioned below:
Error: Sub report cannot be shown.
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError)
When I copy and paste the code of RDL file into new RDL file and try to preview the output I get correct result.
Note: The new RDL file does not give any error if the output is seen using preview tab but it gives the error only when executed from report viewer or from internet explorer.
Any Suggestion/feedback is highly appreciated.
Thank You.

DUAL causes internal error ORA-00600
Hi All,
I am using oracle 10g database agains Forms6i, but in forms pl/sql when ever and where ever I use the DUAL in select statement
i.e. SELECT sysdate INTO <variable> FROM DUAL;
it always causes oracle internal error ORA-00600 ?
However it the dual statement works fine in SQL Plus console.
Any knows anything about this problem.
Any help will be highly appriciated. Thanking you and Best Regards.Please go to the first reply above:
Only the newest patch 17 runs against 10g databases without problems.
Either upgrade to Forms 6.0.8 and apply patch 17, or else connect to an Oracle 8 or 9i database. -
I'm trying to write a PL/SQL function to dynamically return a query with varying # of columns. I've done this type of thing before wiith much success, however this is the first time I'm using a cursor for loop within a function to accomplish my task.
here is the error I get:
ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
Error ERR-1101 Unable to process function body returning query.
Mind you I have tested the PL/SQL from a SQL editor and it works fine. I'm confused.
Code is below.
Thanks in advance!
DECLARE

string1 varchar2(50) := 'select city, ';
string2 varchar2(4000) := '' ;
string3 varchar2(4000):= 'from

from sj_class_summary3 a
group by a.title, a.city, a.start_date
having a.title = :P4_COURSE )
group by title, city';
TYPE date_tab_type IS TABLE OF date INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;

string2 := string2 || ' max( decode( start_date, ''' || date_tbl(i) || ''', cnt,0) ) "' || date_tbl(i) || '", ';
i := i+ 1;
end loop;
string2 := SUBSTR(string2,1,LENGTH(string2)-2);
string2 := string2 || ' ';
my_query := string1 || string2 || string3;
return my_query;
END;Hi Bob,
you also have another date to character to date conversion in:
decode( start_date, ''' || date_tbl(i) || ''', cnt,0)
does this need to be:
decode( start_date, to_date(''' || to_char(date_tbl(i), 'dd/mm/yyyy') || ''', ''dd/mm/yyyy''), cnt,0)

If i use cs.registerOutParameter(4, Types.ARRAY, "SCHEMA_OWNER_NAME.ISSUESECTION_LIST"); Then i wont be getting the error.
COULD ANYONE LET ME KNOW THE WORK AROUND OTHER THAN THE ABOVE SOLUTION LIKE ADDING THE OWNER SCHEMA NAME WITH THE USER DEFINED COLLECTION TYPE.There couold be two reasons:
1) it depends how u have defined type. if ISSUESECTION_LIST is defined in type SCHEMA_OWNER, then you have to call this ways only 'SCHEMA_OWNER_NAME.ISSUESECTION_LIST'
2) You might have defined using schema_owner_name like scott.<TYPE_NAME>. if its so, then drop it and again define type without using schema owner.
For detail help post your type declaration. -
hi,
I am having having problems with the getArray() of oracle.sql.ARRAY.
Here are the details:
Oracle Database - 9.2.0.6. The JDBC driver used -10.2.0.1 jar.(the latest available).
I am calling a stored procedure from java, that has out param as a collection (VARRAY) of a user defined type.
The stored procedure works fine, if the user/schema used to connect,contains actual type, and i am able to extract the user defined object from the oracle.sql.ARRAY, via getArray().
But if i use a different user to connect which has public synonyms and execute rights to the actual type, i get the following error:
java.sql.SQLException: Internal Error

The problem is happening because we have 2 different users to connect to the database. one is the dba user, which contains all the types, packages and other one the application user, which we are supposed to use, to connect via java. This application user does have access to types via public synonym, but it gives the above mentioned error.
Please help :(.
Regards,
Gaurav.Hi avi,
Even I am getting the same error inspite of preceding the type name with the same user who has created the type.
It has displayed the array length.When I am trying to fetch each array, I am getting the error.
ARRAY simpleArray = (ARRAY) cs.getObject(3);
System.out.println("Array is of length " + simpleArray.length()); ********************** The above stmt prints 2 records ******************
But it goes to exception in the foll stmt..
Object [] objArrStructArray = null;
try{
objArrStructArray = (Object[]) simpleArray.getArray();
}catch(SQLException e){
e.printStackTrace();
Do u know abt this?
The foll is the error which I am getting.

Adobe Reader X (XI): barcode causes internal error
Hello,
we having troubles open a PDF with AcrobatReader containing a barcode
On opening with the acrobat reader a "Internal error" occurs.
The file can be easily opened with the Chrome Browser and Firefox too without problems and the barcode appears.
To reproduce the problem i uploaded the error causing pdf document:
http://temp-share.com/show/2gFbc4nE8
On my system the following behavior occurred with the above attached document:
Operation System: Win 7 - 64bit
Desktop Version: Adobe Reader XI --> INTERNAL ERROR (no print out of the barcode),
Adobe Reader X 10.1.7.27 -> same
Firefox: (Adobe Acrobat 11.0.1.36) Adobe PDF Plugin for Firexfox and Netscape 11.0.1.36) --> WORKS (barcode is print)
Internet Explorer: Adobe PDF Link Helper (Version 11.0.0.379) --> INTERNAL ERROR (no print out of the barcode)
I kindly ask for help.
Best regards.Ok, here are some thoughts.
1. "Internal error" is always a bug. But sometimes it hides a different problem.
2. This does not happen either with much older versions of Acrobat.
3. I can confirm that it is the image of the barcode which causes the issue.
Adobe will not look at this file, as I understand it.
Things to try:
a. If the barcode is generated as a PDF by barbeque test that PDF to see if it gives the error.
b. If it does, contact barbeque support or try a different barcode generator.
c. If it does not, contact ireport support or try a different report generator. -
using flex sdk 4.6, and air sdk 15.0.0.356
we get the following error when using compc in our ant build:

which seems to be rather vague, and offers no clue as to what caused the problem. so, my question is, what could cause this error?
these are the compiler options we use in the build file:
<java jar="${flex.compc.jar}" dir="." fork="true" failonerror="true">
<jvmarg value="-Xmx512m" />
<arg line="@{options} ${_compc.libpath} ${_compc.externspath} ${_compc.includespath}" />
<arg value="+flexlib=${flex.frameworks.dir}" />
<arg value="-load-config=@{config}" />
<arg value="-source-path=@{src.dir}" />
<arg value="-include-sources=@{src.dir}" />
<arg value="-output=@{dest}" />
<arg value="-swf-version=@{swf.version}"/>
<arg value="-debug=${flash.debug}"/>
<arg value="-advanced-telemetry"/>
</java>
assume that the properties resolve to correct values, since all projects (except one) call this task and compile successfully. the error must come from this one project that fails, but we don't know why.
any ideas?You could be running out of memory, try increasing the -Xmx512m value to -Xmx1024m or another value that you prefer
