XML Styles to Tags--template?

Hi,
First, many thanks to the users that make this site so helpful.
My question today is this: I have a book full of chapters that will each be exported to XML.  In each chapter, there are styles that I need to "Map to Tags" (which I've done by hand for the first chapter) for the final XML.  Since the styles will be named the same in each chapter, is there a way for me to retain the mappings to the tags for the next chapter so that I do not have to make those mappings again?
Atomik Xport's add-on product calls the mapping a "ruleset" (.rls).
I'd like to avoid scripting this if possible, since the styles for this particular project are 100+ (gulp).
Any ideas?

Tags can be saved and loaded via the Window > Tags panel menu.
Although tag mappings don't appear in the Synchronize Options dialog box of the Book panel's menu, it's worth experimenting to see if the style-to-tag mappings are indeed propagated to component files in a book panel. • INDESIGN GLITCH: Creating an XML file from Indesign Layout - Issue "Using more than one line of GREP" & "Map Styles to Tags"

    I currently create XML from InDesign CC by Mapping Style to Tags.
    - The Paragraph Styles are manually apply to text. These styles include multiple lines of GREP to automatically apply character styles.
    - I map some of the paragraph and character styles to prebuilt tags that have the same name "Map Styles to Tags".
    I have found through trouble-shooting that InDesign is unable to "Map Styles to Tags" for more than one line of GREP. I therefore have to chose which line of GREP to automatically tag and which lines to manually tag.
    Please can anyone help, I need to automatically map tags to at least two character styles in one paragraph via GREP.
    Thanks,

    OK. The best I can suggest is running a Find/Change like this:
    Which will actually apply the character style to the italics (and I would do the bold as well just to make certain). Then run the Map Styles to Tags again, using the Apply by Name. Which will tag the italics.
    I don't know why ID can map to the bold and not the italic character style. It either should do them both (as in this instance) or none at all as the character styles are not actually applied by the grep, just the styling from the character styles.

  • Problem mapping styles to tags

    How do I prevent creation of the "Story" tag during mapping of styles to tags?
    I need to achieve the following using a script:
    I have two XMElements in the structure view, say Title and Body as follows:
    <Root>
      <Title/>
      <Body/>
    </Root>
    Also, I have two text frames in a document. The first text frame has text with parastyle named "titlestyle".
    And the second text frame has text with parastyle named "bodystyle".
    What I need is when I do mapping of styles to tags (mapStylesToXMLTags) then the text with "titlestyle" should be placed as contents of title tag and the text with "bodystyle" should be placed as contents in body tag.
    The problem is that when I map styles to text a Story tag is created for each text frame and the original Title and Body tags remain as it is, i.e, empty.
    I get:
    <Title></Title>
    <Body></Body>
    <Story><Title>here are the contents</Title></Story>
    <Story><Body>here are the conents</Body></Story>
    NOTE: If you select the text in text frame and then click the tag in structure view, then the contents are placed correctly. This is what I need as follows:
    <Title>here are the contents</Title>
    <Body>here are the contents</Body>

  • Error messages when using Mapping Styles to tags

    We are using the XML Export from Indesign as part of our translation workflow. This has been fine until today. I am trying to tag an older document and when I use the Mapping Styles to Tags option I get the following error message:
    "Cannot tag the selected text because the text contains part of a hyperlink or cross reference. Change the text selection to include the entire hyperlink or cross-reference"
    I have no text selected, and I have tried tagging each Cross-Reference in the document and then repeating the map styles to tags all with no result. I don't really understand the message. Can anybody help me?
    I'm using InDesign CS6 Verison 8.0.1 on a MacBook Pro OSx 10.6.8
    Thanks
    Steve M

    Do you still have the original version of ID in which the file was made? If so, try the export to interchange from that. It frequently works better than after conversionin a new version. Open the exported file in CS6 and try your mapping again.
    If that still doesn't work, we'll need someone else to step in who has some XML experience.

  • Include in XML style

    I am trying to convert some JSP files to an XML style.
    This is a snip from taglibs.jsp:
    <jsp:root
    xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
    xmlns:bean="http://struts.apache.org/tags-bean"
    xmlns:bean-el="http://struts.apache.org/tags-bean-el"
    xmlns:myapp="/WEB-INF/myapp.tld"
    version="1.2">
    <jsp:directive.page language="java" errorPage="/error.jsp" pageEncoding="UTF-8" contentType="text/html;charset=utf-8" />
    <html:xhtml />
    </jsp:root>
    The problem is that I can't find a way to include it in other JSP pages.
    The following obviously doesn't work.
    <jsp:root
    xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
    version="1.2">
    <jsp:directive.include file="/common/taglibs.jsp" />
    </jsp:root>
    Any suggestion?
    Marcello

    How about using the jsp:include instead of the jsp:directive.include? Is there a reason you need the static include (the directive), or are you able to just include the finished product of the included JSP(the jsp:include)?
    <jsp:include page="/common/taglibs.jsp"/>

  • Name of the predefined style in the template removed in the output-RTF

    When using predefined named styles in an RTF-input-template, these get removed from the resulting output-document.
    * Create a BI-Publisher -project and use an rtf-file with a predefined style (you can define one on the fly by changing the default style and call it eg. "MyStyle")
    * Type in some text in the template-rtf marking it with "MyStyle"-style
    * Save your template, add a dummy dataset and then view it as rtf-output
    * The Name of the predefined style is not in the style-list of the output-rtf anymore.
    Basically, BI-Publisher seems to remove the names of the styles in the list of the rtf and thus making it impossible to work consistently with styles afterwards for people wanting to modify the resulting rtf using a in-house-style .
    Does anyone know a workaround for this ?
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • How to Map XML Summary comments/tags from OpenScript into OTM through Java

    Hi,
    I would like to know if there is a possibility of copying the XML Summary comments/tags of a test case method in Openscript as test action and expected results of a test case in OTM
    The goal/reason is have to all the test case steps/actions and expected results and the corresponding automation code at one place so that maintenance is easy.
    Something like a testcase method below from openscript
    <Summary>

    </testcaseTitle>
    <testcaseId>
    </testcaseId>
    <testAction>
    Click Menu -> Main Menu -> Expense
    </test action>
    <expectedResult>
    Expense form should be opened successfully

    <testAction>
    Enter the Expense Amount and Date
    Click Save
    </testAction>
    <expectedResult>
    Expense for a given date should be submitted successfully

  • Can the XML style sheet be embedded in the report file?

    My customer would like to be able to share test reports with several locations. The problem is that sending just the XML report file is not enough. The report file points to a style sheet that must exist at the specified path on the destination PC. It creates problems when one simply wants to email over a test report. I have customized the style sheet slightly to make things easier to read. So, can I embed my custom style sheet in each report file?

    Hi,
    The XML style sheet should not be embedded into the report file. Since XML would represent raw data, you would not include information on how to interpret it. However, there is a way for you to easily reference your style sheet, even when it is on another computer.
    1) Go to Configure >> Report Options in TestStand, and change the style sheet file to your style sheet.
    2) Uncheck the "Store Absolute File Path" box.
    3) Make sure the style sheet is in the same folder as your report.
    You can view this on any computer, and now a relative path is now being used to reference the file.

  • Map styles to tags v. Map tags to styles

    Hi everyone,
    Indesign CS4 has an option in the tags panel to:
    1) Map styles to tags
    and
    2) Map tags to styles
    Does anyone know what the difference between these two options are?
    Appreciate any help.

    Tags and Styles serve two separate functions.
    A Tag defines data that belongs to a specific element and is enclosed with an opening and closing tag.
    example:  <element>  This copy will be used for a headline  </element>
    A Style defines how that data will appear with specific attributes: font, font size, color, etc.
    So, say I have an Indesign document that has a predefined paragraph style named: Headline (with attributes of Times New Roman Bold, 18 Point) and I import a file that is tagged like my example. I can map the tag "element" to the style "Headline" and the import can automate the process like this:
    This copy will be used for a headline

  • Option to Share Tag Templates via Creative Cloud unavailable.

    During Jason Levine's Adobe Max session, "Sort, Select, Cut: Basic Logging, Ingesting, and Rough Cutting with Prelude (S2446)", he illustrates sharing and importing Tag Templates to/from Creative Cloud (see screenshot). For some reason, I am unable to do so; the Creative Cloud icons aren't even present in the "Tag" panel (see second screenshot). I am logged into Creative Cloud through the desktop app, and have restarted both Prelude and my system to no avail. I have also tried to "authenticate" my CC account the "Prelude/Cloud Metadata/Authenticate…" dropdown menu (third screenshot), but when I enter my username/password nothing happens. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
    I am running Prelude CC 2014 (2014.2) under Mac OS X 10.10.2. Other CC services, such as the "Libraries" panel in Photoshop CC, are working / synching with CC. The problem seems to be limited to Prelude.
    Presented by Jason Levine (Adobe)

    Hi David,
    Due to improvements to the Creative Cloud backend after the release of Prelude 3.0, the direct "share To Creative Cloud" option has been disabled. You can still share it to the Creative Cloud by using "Save As" and saving to the local Creative Cloud folder. The template will be automatically synced to your Creative Cloud account. You can also search in Spotlight on "TagTemplates" to find the folder that Prelude saves templates into by default, and copy and paste the template into the local Creative Cloud folder. This method avoids duplication in your Tag Template panel. We expect to resolve the issue between Prelude and Creative Cloud for direct sync in the next release. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks!

  • Whitespace in XML-Style JSP

    Hi,
    I am having a slight issue with the XHTML content generated by a JSP. The output is stripped entirely of all whitespace, such that the content is all on one line. I have a request from one of our content writers to view the source "nicely". Oddly, in all of my searches for this problem, I have found people experiencing the opposite problem.
    Suppose I have a JSP like so:
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0">
    <jsp:directive.page language="java" contentType="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1"/>
    <html>
    <head>
         <title>A JSP Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
         <table>
              <tr>
                   <td>Table Cell</td>
              </tr>
         </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    </jsp:root>The resulting output is:
    <html><head><title>A JSP Page</title></head><body><table><tr><td>Table Cell</td></tr></table></body></html>How can I get the output to have the same indentation as the source?
    I am using Tomcat 4.1.29.
    Thanks!

  • Check whether the selected character is an xml open/close tag character...

    Hi Everyone,
    I am using InDesign CS4 and i need some help from you.
    Is there any better way to check the selected character is an XML open/close tag character in the text instead of using the unicode.
    Thanks in advance
    Thiyagu

    I'm having trouble understanding your requirements. I think you're trying to remove the zero-width non-breaking spaces that don't hold tags. Is that right?
    If that's the case, you don't really have to worry about the tags. You can do a normal find and replace:
    app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = "<feff>";
    app.changeTextPreferences.changeTo = "";
    app.activeDocument.changeText();
    It will match the characters that hold the tags, but won't remove them. Actually, it will say it removed them, but won't actually do it—or will replace them immediately? I don't know.
    (As far as I know, there is no way to match the 0xfeffs with a grep find, which is what it looks like you were trying. It would be super awesome if there weren't as many different  notations for unicode characters as there are means of finding them.)
    If you're trying to remove the characters that hold the tags, I think your only option is to untag the elements. You can't remove the 0xfeffs but keep the tags.
