Do you have XML Processing instructions in the XML document that you're trying to insert?
They'd look like:
<?xxx ?>
null

  • Generating XML from Database using XSQL

    Hi ,
    I have been using Reports as an intermidiate to generate XML (by giving concurrent program o/p type as XML). Now, i want it to be done from SQL or PL/SQL. I am able to achieve this using XSQL functions. I placed the SQL in a .sql file and registered it as a concurrent program. It was giving me XML output.
    I have two problems here.
    1. How can i know whether i have generated valid xml or not?
    2. When i am linking this concurrent program to XML Publisher, publisher is not able to read thie output from the concurrent prograam. It is erroring out. Why?
    Thanks
    sap

    Save the XML file - try to open it with IE and/or Firefox.
    If that doesn't work you know already something is wrong.
    You may try to cut&paste it into notepad and save as UTF-8.
    Then try it out with the Template Builder for Wrod.
    If you can't figure it out and run the report with a SMALL dataset six (ie. 1)
    and post it here.

  • How to connect mysql database using xml

    welcome to all,
    here my doubt is how to connect mysql database using xml file, how to integrate xml file and jsp file and how to access data from dabase using jsp file. can any one help me
    regards

    Short answer: you wouldn't do any of those things. The first two are meaningless and the third is a bad practice. I have no idea what those ideas were supposed to achieve so I have no idea what tutorials I should suggest to you.

    So each row values has to inserted into resp fields in the table.

    Do you have a similar structure in your stored procedure ?
    In that case you can simply call the procedure from soa using db adapter and do a mapping to assign the values.

  • Construcion of XML based project using XDK 9i and 8i database

    Hi
    i'm still a new graduate and i'm interested in working on XML technologies using Oracle tools.
    I've made some applications using XML but i used ASP.
    So how i can construct an application using
    Oracle 8i database 8.0.7 and XDK 9i "XDK pl/sql"
    I need the steps to do so.
    Thanx for helping me
    Yours
    Tariq Al-Masri

    XDK pl/sql is suggested to be used with Oralce 8.1.6 and later versions as for 8.0.7 you will have problems with java loading.
    You may use XDK for Java.

  • What is the best way to create fields at runtime in the database using JPA?

    We use Oracle ADF platform to build web applications and extend to webcenter portal application.
    The current expectation from Java developers team is to change our development approach/method, so that adding some fields in the application should not required any development effort. In other words, when you want to add a data field (at least no relation to any field) in some form, it should be enough to save some metadata of the field to the database along with execution of related job/commands in the application. Additionally, we need to render the view dynamically according to added fields.
    Essentially, I think that such an expectation is not suited for the Java world, but if it could be possible or if someone has prior experience to do this, I would want to use it. We don't want to be interact directly with the database using native SQL through JDBC, as that would mean going out of the ADF framework.
    Suppose that, we define the metadatas of custom field(s), for example its type(string, number, combobox etc)length, isunique, mandatory... And then we run the execute command of this field definition to create on database and map to related entity object from now on. I assume that might be possible to add entity class as property belonged to class. Anymore when rendering the page, new custom field must be shown in form view if even there is no deployment process...
    There is Extensible Entity in EclipseLink. Has anybody got sample project about used eclipselink extensible entities? I could not find enough detailed docs unfortunatelly
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/UserGuide/JPA/Advanced_JPA_Development/Extensible_Entities#EclipseLink.2FUserGuide.2FJPA.2FAdvanced_JPA_Development.2FExternal_Mappings

    http://flex.winfxpro.info/download/?noderef=workspace://SpacesStore/af69ebfb-6d9f-4a03-8244-c56100d16deb

    In the persistence.xml specify the property
    <property name="eclipselink.ddl-generation" value="create-tables"/>
    But, a JPA implementation is not required to create tables according to the EJB 3 JPA specification. The Hibernate persistence provider does, the EclipseLink doesn't.

  • OutofMemory Error while sending file to database using Web services

    I have a file of 30MB to be written to the MySQL database. I am doing this in Axis web services and it gives me the following error:
    (I am using Tomcat as the application server and Apache as the web server, Axis 1.3 and MySQL standard 5.0.21 version. I have set the minimum and maximum heap size and it works well without using the web service (just uploading and downloading from the database using a simple java program). Another thing to notice is that I can send a file of almost 10MB size to the database using web service without any problem. But it doesn't work with the 30 MB .)

    Sorry for the delayed response here, forget to add it to my watchlist. I didn't catch if you were using Java 1.5 or not. Prior to 1.5 the default maximum heap space was 64MB which with the overhead of the appserver might be your problem.
    Take a look at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/vm/gc-ergonomics.html and the java -Xmx <size> command line option to change the default (I believe the size argument is in bytes, but don't hold me to that). I think you can pass that as a command line option to the startup script, but you should check the doco to see if it needs to be wrapped in some other arg etc.,
    I seem to recall running into this same problem a few years back when I had a servlet doing some intense graphics processing on the fly and setting this option fixed the problem.

  • Generating XML from database

    I'm a total newbie in XML DB and need advice on generating XML from database.
    The situation is the following: there is a legacy web application which uses an XML document as a configuration file. This document conforms to some well-defined schema. For instance:
    <config>
         <title value="TITLE" />
         <subtitle value="SUBTITLE" />
         <style url="default.css" />
         <widgets>
              <widget id="1" opened="true" />
              <widget id="2" opened="false" />
         </widgets>
    </config>
    It contains portions of static data which are common for all users as well as dynamic personal data.
    Dynamic data comes from two sources:
    1) security considerations (for instance, not all widgets are available for some users) - thus the "master" configuration content must be filtered, but not otherwise modified;
    2) user preferences (for instance, user can set widget2 to be opened by default) - thus values of some attributes must be different for each user. When the user saves her preferences, the entire document with new values is posted back to server.
    We want to try to store user preferences, apply security and generate personalized configuration documents using XML DB.
    So we need advice on storage models and generation procedures - which should be more efficient and easy to support or extend.
    Please note, that there is no requirement to actually store data as XML.
    Thanks in advance!
    P.S.: Sorry for the incomplete initial post.

  • Querying an Oracle Database Using XSL

    I know from years of experience as an Oracle DBA that to suggest that a program generate SQL is anathema, but I'm going to ask anyway!
    Is there currently (or soon) to be a means of submitting XSL (or, perhaps, some variant based on the most recently published "standard") to an Oracle database and receiving an XML result set?
    Note that I have not mentioned writing any SQL myself. I'm either looking for some middleware to translate the XSL "query" into the appropriate SQL query (with appropriate after-query transformations) or for the database engine itself to be able to parse and optimize XSL.
    I just read a position paper (dated 1998) on this site that says that Oracle intends to closely follow developments in the world of XML Query. And, I've read in a "Byte" article ("Where Are The XML Apps We Can See And Touch? Report From XML DevCon 2001", April 2001, Jon Udell) that Steve Muench had demonstrated some means of super-imposing an XML schema over top of a database in order to query it via XPath. Where does the product stand in regards to this type of functionality?
    Thanks in advance,
    David Park
