XML with Links?

I have a a product page that draws from an xml document for
its content. The xml is structured like this:
<story>
<title>xxxx</title>
<content>xxxxxx</content>
</story>
The problem I'm having is embedding links within the content.
It might have anywhere from 0 to 3 links within the body of the
content. and the only way I've found to get them to work as links
is by converting the <a> tags to &lt;a&gt; Is there a
way to keep the anchor tags intact, ie, <a>, and further once
they are turned into links inside the flash textarea component, can
I format them to look like links?

Let me set this up a bit. I have two components, a list and a
textarea. I load the xml, put the title into the list and when you
click on it, you get the content. Without the CDATA tags, it
functions, minus the links. each button has its own content.
When I add cdata tags, first off, the link doesn't appear in
the textarea, secondly the word 'google' appears as the second
entry in my flash document, instead of "This the the second body of
my xml document. I don't like this one so much." What am I doing
wrong?
