XMP Toolkit compilation error under win32 + recent VC editions

Hi all,
I just downloaded the XMP plugin and tried to compile it under win xp with VC9 (express edition).
I get the following error a few times:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\include\stdio.h(358) :  error C3163: '_vsnprintf': attributes inconsistent with previous  declaration
1>        C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio  9.0\VC\include\stdio.h(350) : see declaration of '_vsnprintf'
I'm not expert of win32 and/or VC environment, but I find quite strange that there is an error in stdio.h.
Maybe some duplicate definition in XMP toolkit? Any hint?
Thanks a lot,
Roberto

Thanks a lot!
Regards,
   Roberto

Hi Roberto,
>
sorry for the late reply.
Unfortunately the compilation error is due to a certain combination of the VS compiler and the third-party ZLib library used in XMPFiles.
When compiling XMPFiles with the new Visual Studio 2008, certain definitions in the version 1.2.3 of ZLib collide with definitions in the CRT used in VS2008.
The solution is to get the latest version of ZLib which is 1.2.5. But you also need to adjust the XMPFiles VS project a little bit.
In that VS project you need to remove the file "gzio.c" from this folder: XMPFiles/Source Files/Third Party/zlib.
With those two changes, the toolkit should compile.
But you could also wait for the CS5 SDK which is about to be released pretty soon, which has this fixed as well.

If you have further questions, please let me know.
Kind Regards

  • Forms compilation Errors under Linux

    Hello,
    I have a main form called Tbdoctrk.fmb.
    This forms compiles and runs perfectly through Oracle 9i iDS.
    When transfering the fmb file under Linux, and attempting to recompile using the f90genm.sh utility, I get the following compilation errors:
    FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects.
    FRM-30436: Parent window not specified for canvas.View Canvas H_TOOLBAR
    FRM-30041: Position of item places it off of canvas.
    Item: BUTTON_HELP
    Block: VARIABLE
    Form: TBDOCTRK
    FRM: Unable to adjust form for output.
    ====
    I noticed that most of the object that failed to load (1 data block object, 1 canvas and a number of property classes and visual attributes) are contained in a file called TOOLBAR.fmb.
    The TOOLBAR.fmb file compiles without errors under Linux/WIndows + is located in the same folder as the Tbdoctrk.fmb file.
    1) How can I resolve this issue ?
    PT
    PS: I tried renaming the fmb files to upper/lower case without success.

    Hello,
    My main form called Tbdoctrk.fmb in turn calls a form called Pre_bord.fmb in a Program Unit.
    Most but not all Class and Value Attributes are included in a file called toolbar.fmb. I did not find any specific reference to the toolbar.fmb file.
    However, at compile time, I find that those objects are not loaded.
    1) In what part of the main form Tbdoctrk.fmb should I find any such reference to the toolbar.fmb file ?
    2) How should I create those symbolic links under Linux ?

  • Compiler errors with most recent update

    I just ran the SoftwareUpdate utility and it installed QuickTime 7.1 and Apple Security Update 2006-003. Now when I compile, I get the following errors:
    ld: Undefined symbols:
    _LLCStyleInfoCheckForOpenTypeTables referenced from QuartzCore expected to be defined in ApplicationServices
    _LLCStyleInfoGetUserRunFeatures referenced from QuartzCore expected to be defined in ApplicationServices
    This error used to be "[blahblahblah] referenced from Quicktime epected to be defined in ApplicationServices" not QuartzCore. I looked at /System/Library/Frameworks/QuartzCore.framework/Versions/A/QuartzCore and sure enough, it has a modifcation date of today.
    The previous error was caused what appears to be QuickTime 7.0.4 being developed/compiled on Tiger and then distributed to Panther users like myself via Software Update.
    I can't figure out whether the QuickTime update or the Security Update changed my QuartzCore, but I'm having trouble figuring out a solution to this problem.
    Find a copy of the old QuartzCore framework? Figure out some way to add a dummy library that will define these symbols? Make sure Apple developers compile stuff on Panther when delivering code for Panther? I had to downgrade from Quicktime 7.0.4 to 7.0.1 to compile, which broke my iTunes 6.0.4. Now that won't even help, because the Quicktime 7.0.1 downgrade package doesn't contain QuartzCore.

    I can't compile anymore after the recent update on PowerMac G5 1.8GHz.
    It still works on iBook G4 1GHz.
    Both running Mac Os X 10.4.6

  • Compiling errors under LabVIEW FPGA v1.1

    Problems compiling any designs to target PXI-7831R.
    Compile Server v1.1 starts but fails after 5 seconds. Details window reports "#SERVER ERROR:  Error while Compiling #"
    I have checked the configuration and it points to the correct directories. I have removed and reinstalled Labview 7.1 and FPGA module 1.1, but the problem persists.
    The design compiles correctly on another machine so it appears to be related to the software installation on this machine.
    I have attached the xflow.log report from the srvrTemp directory for this design. It is complaining that it cannot find a  VHDL file : nirvi_zerodelayer.vhd
    The VHDL file does exist in the clntTmp directory for this design but not in the srvrTmp directory.

    Hi, this happened to me regularly.  What I use to do is to delete the whole content of "C:\NIFPGA11\clntTmp"
     and "C:\NIFPGA11\srvrTmp\localhost".  Also, I've noticed that compilation may not fail if I click run instead of build when the target is "FPGA Device (PXI-7831R) <compile only>"... stange!
    hope this helps!

  • Help with compilation error

    Hello
    I have a problem with my jsp developement. When i create a jsp (with no beans) i test it and it runs fine (not good but fine), then when I test it with multiple users at time, it generate a jsp compilation error ie. "missing term }" and I can not figure out why it is getting that error, it has been compilated before! so it should not generate a compilation error, becouse i'm not editing the jsp source. I think that every time the jsp is requested the virtual machine is re-compiling it, but is only what i thing and i don't know why... can any body help me? please.
    I apologize for my bad english
    Thank you for your time reading this.

    Sorry becouse i can't be more espesific with the error that i get, that error is complete apears in a complete randomic way, I mean taht it apears when nerver is expected or doesn't apear when is expected, only thing that i got of that error is that the compiler some time says that are mising semi-colon (;), some time says that are mising quotation marks (") or are mising }, the error is no the same allways no mater the situation, I can run the jsp in my pc but the error doesn't apear, thats very strange becouse the compilation error apear after the jsp was executed with no errors.
    this is my jsp:

  • Compiling JDK 1.4.2 from source, under win32

    Hi,
    Here is how I compiled JDK 1.4.2 from source-code under win32. I hope this helps the many others who are interested in doing the same.
    1) Download the sources from here: http://wwws.sun.com/software/communitysource/j2se/java2/download.html
    Be sure to download all packages (SCSL source, SCSL binaries, mozilla binaries)
    2) Download gnu make from here: http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/make/
    3) Download Info-zip "zip" and "unzip" packages: http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/UnZip.html and http://www.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/Zip.html
    4) Request and evaluation copy of MKS Toolkit: http://www.mkssoftware.com/eval/
    The key point here is that MKS Toolkit is a commercial product and even once you request an evaluation copy, it'll take a day or two for one of their salespeople to contact and harass you. Tell him whatever you must to get an evaluation copy out of him ("I might buy a copy in 3 months, honest!")... I personally wish Sun would move away from this commercial product and replace it with cygwin or something. It was very annoying getting past this stage.
    5) Download the DirectX 9.0 SDK from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=124552ff-8363-47fd-8f3b-36c226e04c85&displaylang=en
    Sun actually requires DirectX 7.0 SDK but I couldn't find a copy anywhere so we have no choice but use a newer copy. This is another issue Sun should really address.
    6) Install DirectX SDK, MKS Toolkit, Info-zip zip and unzip
    7) Unpack gnu make into a directory and build it using the special steps for the MKS Toolkit shell. If you're trying to build make 3.80 be sure to fix this bug before you proceed or else it won't build: https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?func=detailitem&item_id=1687
    8) Set your build environment variables. Here are my personal settings:
    call "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\Bin\vcvars32.bat"
    set ALT_UNIXCOMMAND_PATH=c:\mksnt
    set ALT_MSVCRT_DLL_PATH=c:\windows\system32
    set ALT_BOOTDIR=c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04
    set ALT_DEVTOOLS_PATH=c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\source\utils
    set path=C:\make-3.80\WinRel;%path%
    set include=%include%;c:\program files\microsoft sdk\include
    set JAVA_HOME=
    9) You must build against Visual C++ 6.0 (Visual C++ .NET won't work because its missing non-standard header files used by Sun, such as iostream.h)
    10) "cd <jdk source dir>\control\make"
    11) Edit <jdk source dir>\j2me\make\common\Sanity.gmk line 1135. Replace:
    ifeq ($(PLATFORM), windows)
    with
    ifeq ($(PLATFORM), windows_skip)
    This will cause the build process to ignore the fact that you have DirectX 9.0 when it requires version 7.0
    12) Start the build process: "make scsl"
    13) If the build process dies because you have a different service-pack of Visual C++ 6.0 than it expects, edit <jdk source dir>\j2me\make\common\Sanity.gmk lines 71-72 and modify the expected version numbers to the ones you have.
    14) If you see a "'c:\program' not found" error while compiling. Be sure that the paths set by VCVARS32.BAT use short-names not long-names, because make gets confused by paths with spaces.
    15) If you see an error "No rule to make target `/usr/src/j2sdk-1_4_2-src-scsl/control/build/linux-i586/lib/fonts/LucidaTypewriterRegular.ttf'" it means you forgot to extract the "SCSL binaries" package into the source-code directory
    I will post solutions to further compiler errors as I encounter them, I encourage you to do the same.

  • Weblogic 6.1 under Red Hat 7 not indicating JSP compile errors

    I downloaded Weblogic 6.1 under Red Hat 7 and ran the console installation. Then
    I created $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/DefaultWebApp/test.jsp as follows:
    <html>
    <head><title>Hello World</title></head>
    <body>
    <% String hello = "Hello"; %>
    <%= hello %> World!
    </body>
    </html>
    Then I put the url in my favorite web browser and saw the "Hello World!" page.
    Next I changed test.jsp to have the following:
    <html>
    <head><title>Hello World</title></head>
    <body>
    <%= hello %> World!
    </body>
    </html>
    I then refreshed the url with my favorite browser.
    The expected behavior is a compile error in test.jsp because the variable "hello"
    is not defined. However Weblogic gives no indication of the compile error and
    sends the HTML output of the previously compiled servlet. I have tried this with
    both the Windows and Solaris versions and I get the compile error as expected.
    My question is this:
    Is there a fix for this yet? If so, then from where do I download it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Craig

    Hi.
    You need to do 1 of 2 things to get WLS to notice it has a new webapp component:
    1. undeploy and deploy the webapp or
    2. use the webapp component refresh tools as follows:
    java weblogic.management.tools.WebAppComponentRefreshTool [options]
    running this with no options prints out a usage message.
    Hope this helps,
    Michael

  • Cannot build XMP-Toolkit-SDK-CC201306

    Hi
    Is this the correct forum to post this question?
    I am using WIN 7 Professional 64 bit and Visual Studio 2010.
    I have been trying to produce the Visual Studio project from the GenerateXMPToolkitSDK_win.bat file.
    It fails repeatedly. It produces the VC10 directory.
    When I open the solution in VS2010 it has no project files?
    Note that I do not have Visual Studio running at the time of the build.
    The following text is the message returned: -

    Thanks for your help so far, perhaps I should have read the "Getting Started Guide" first!
    I have now been able to create all the VS solutions, when I open them in VS and I try to build the solution I get 45 warnings, samples of which include: -

    Similarly if I try to run the solution I get the following error : -

    Can you help me with this? I hope it's not something obvious and I don't want to waste your time.

  • XMP Toolkit & Visual Studio 6.0

    Hi!
    I'm a software developper from Germany and got started into XMP a couple of days ago. With Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, everything works fine (I compiled the sources and received the lib files as static libraries which I can use for my code).
    Does it also work with Visual Studio 6.0? I tried it, but a "LNK1196: invalid or corrupt import object: unknown version" error is shown then, I suppose you can't use lib files created in 2005 for 6.0. Has anybody successfully used the XMP Toolkit on this version?
    Thanks.

    Tutorial: How to install Visual Studio 6 With Service Pack 5 on Windows Vista RTM
    - If you use Visual Studio.NET, do not install Visual Studio 2002, 2003, 2005 or 2008 first. If you do, this tutorial will not work. You must install them in this order...
    1. Visual Studio 6.0
    2. Service Pack 5
    3. Visual Studio 2002, 2003, 2005 or 2008
    - Right click on Setup.EXE from the Visual Studio 6 CD (MSVS98) and choose 'Run As Administrator' (take note it doesn't matter if your user is already an administrator you still must 'Run as Administrator')
    - You may encounter some strange 'Yes/No' questions which you may not know the answers to that have not prompted you during Visual Studio Setup before. I don't remember what I clicked exactly, but I remember one of them said 'Do you want to overwrite your 'blah blah' settings?' and I clicked 'No'.
    - You will need to reboot twice during installation
    - Before running Service pack 5 setup, you must make modifications to the file 'sp598ent.stf' here's how to do that (note some of the spaces have been truncated, try to not remove the extra space in the stf file when modifying it. If you do, this will not work at all, and you'll get a "Setup Damaged" error)...
    Step 1) Open C:\ServicePack5Dir\sp598ent.stf with 'Notepad.exe'
    Step 2) Replace the following line
    13 Group 28 36 38 29 30 32 26 27 14 25 16 17 20 18 19 15 39 21 22 24 23 43
    -with-
    13 Group 28 38 29 30 32 26 27 14 25 16 17 20 18 19 15 39 21 22 24 23 43
    Step 3) Delete the following lines leaving only a carriage return where it was
    36 Depend "27 ? : 37"
    37 IsWin95 CustomAction "sp598ent.dll,CheckForMDAC"
    Step 4) Save and close C:\ServicePack5Dir\sp598ent.stf
    - Once you are done with that, you must run right click 'setupsp5.exe' and choose 'Run as Administrator' (if you do not run as administrator it will not work)
    - Service Pack 5 Setup should work fine now.

    Anyone have a clue about what might be going wrong?

    I guess I should have worked a little harder before posting.
    All I had to do was create the directory "classes" under the JRE
    and now everything works fine. I don't have a clue why this would
    be the case. Anyone else?

    Microsfot Office Word 10 has never been a problem.
    Recently purchased a new HP i7 laptop, have had problems since..
    Have attempted several online solutions but nothing has worked.

    Hello StanleyBogacz. I understand that you're encountering this error when launching Word 2010. Is this correct?
    The module it is referring to is an Avery Label Wizard template. Do you have Avery Label Wizard? It is not compatible with Office 2010.  Here is a Microsoft Answers thread on the topic.
    In any case, it would be a good idea to remove this template and attempt to use Word again. Follow these directions as this in a hidden folder within Windows.
    Click Start, type "C:\users\\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates" and press Enter.
    Locate the AZWizardModul.
    Right click this module and delete it.
    Close any Word windows and re-open it.
    Verify that the error is no longer there.
    The easiest way to find your computer name is to click Start. Then right-click Computer and this will open the System Information window. In the middle area is a section labeled "Computer Name," it will be listed here.
    I hope you find this information helpful; have a great day!
    Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
    Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • IPTC/XMP Toolkit Wrapper in C#

    I wanted an extremely easy C# wrapper for the toolkit. One that would compile in Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 upon install, as well as have a class with simply had property values for each of the IPTC/XMP data. I hired someone to do this and it works beautifully. It's been released in DBGallery, a photo database system (www.grrsystems.com/DBGallery).
    If anyone is interested in purchasing this wrapper you may contact me at [email protected]

    GRR Systems, Inc.

    The XMP Toolkit C# Wrapper mentioned above has been recently updated to:
    - Use the XMP Toolkit CS6
    - Support additional fields, such as GPS
    - Support UTF8
    - Includes a sample project which uses .Net 4.0
    - Compiles in Visual Studio 2012

  • Compile error difference, ojc vs javac

    We recently upgraded to JDeveloper 10g from 9i. Overall, definitely a big improvement, but I'm running into one very annoying issue.
    We have a customer who is obsessive about avoiding vendor ties, so everything we do has to be based purely on Sun's JVM. To that end, we compile using javac rather than ojc. This works, but has a few annoyances. For one it seems to take forever for JDeveloper to start javac - upwards of 15-20 seconds in some cases.
    That I can live with, but the bug that's starting to drive me completely nuts is that the detail for compiler errors, especially "cannot resolve symbol", is different between the two compilers. Under ojc, I get all the detail you'd expect: The unknown symbol, even the column it appears in. But using javac, all I get is the line number and a "cannot resolve symbol" message. This makes it a lot harder than it should be to find the problem.
    I don't get this using ojc, or Eclipse, or 9i, or even javac on the command line. It's very annoying, and quickly pushing people to want to go back to 9i, or even move to Eclipse. Is there a setting we're missing here?
    Our current target is JDK 1.4.2.
    Thanks,
    - KEA

    Hi Manoj,
    I had the same problem.
    This is what worked for me:
    I'm running Win2k.
    So, in C:\WINNT\system32 I found the following files
    javac.exe
    javaw.exe
    java.exe
    I removed them all, since I have the jdk pointed in the right classpath in my environment variables.
    Once this was deleted. It worked fine!
    I hope this helps.

  • Using the XMP Toolkit in Illustrator

    I'm trying to read information from the XMP metadata of a linked image in Illustrator from a Plugin. The SDK doesn't seem to provide a full API for manipulating XMP apart from the ability to obtain the XMP packet from an art object via the AIArtSuite with GetArtXMP(...) etc.
    So naturally I went for Adobe's XMP Toolkit to do the hard work for me, however I've run into some strange issues that have me a little stumped. Basically, no matter what I do, after calling anything from the XMP Toolkit (SXMPMeta), I end up with either a SIGABRT or BAD_ACCESS in a random object destructor such as ai::FilePath or std::string.  I assume this is due to some memory being deallocated too early based on my usage of the toolkit.
    Doing a bit more reading, I see that the XMP Toolkit uses a singleton pattern under the hood. This leads me to believe that there is some conflict with Illustrator's own implementation of the toolkit and my own.
    Could anyone shed any light on this? Is there another way I should be doing this? Any help anyone can give me would be hugely appreciated!
    Thanks!
    -W
    *Edit: I've linked to the XMP Toolkit both statically and dynamically, each time with the same results.
    Another interesting thing I noticed is that if I compile both my plugin and the XMP toolkit with "Symbols Hidden By Default" (GCC_SYMBOLS_PRIVATE_EXTERN) set to "NO", I don't get a crash, but I can't register my namespaces. They just don't appear in the list of namespaces even after dumping the namespace list out directly after the call to SXMPMeta::RegisterNamespace(...)
    Should I be asking in the XMP Toolkit forum?

    Please ignore this post. The problem was in my own code. I was stomping over memory that wasn't mine to stomp over.

  • Compile Error: "schema 'name' does not exist

    Im trying to build a program that quereys a table in a database but i keep getting this error. Am i missing a link between the files or am i missing a line of code in my program??

    Apologies. I receive a compiler error which reads as follows;
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver
    java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: Schema 'DEMO' does not exist
    Heres the main body of code i am trying to execute.
    public class Main {
    * @param args the command line arguments
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    // TODO code application logic here
    try{
    Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver");
    }catch(ClassNotFoundException e){
    System.out.println(e);
    try{
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/SimpleDBDemo", "demo", "demo");
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM DEMO.Table1");
    while (rs.next()) {
    String s = rs.getString("Name");
    float n = rs.getFloat("Age");
    System.out.println(s + " " + n);
    }catch(SQLException e){
    System.err.println(e);
    I am using NetBeans IDE and have created a database under: Services->Databases-> Java DB->SimpleDBDemo.
    I have a database connection in which theres a simple table (called "TABLE1") created which contains the names and ages of two people.
    Hope this makes the problem a bit clearer.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
