XQuery in XSL

Hi,
I am using 11g. I need to perform complex transformation logic on my incoming message to transform it to outgoing message. I have been trying to do this via the XSL mapper without success. I was reading about Xquery and I have the following questions based on my understanding:
1) Is it possible to call Xquery from XSL?
2) Is it possible for Xquery to query XML A type and return the data in XML B type ?
3) Are there any alternative approaches to achieve the complex transformation within SOA suite?

Yes you can, what I do is use eclipse to implement the xquery as it has quite nice tooling. But you can you an IDE of your choice. JDev has limited support.
In BPEL you us an Assign activity and use the expression ora:processXQuery(template,context?), the template = the xquery file, e.g. test.xq and the context is the source variable.

...The XQuery returns a pure subtree from an XMLTYPE table, and the two processing instructions are placed at the top of the XSQL page. Could you please tell me where am I wrong?

I found that error is coming from this line.

How can an user defined Transaction type in Inventory be configured in IB?

Need to know how to make an user defined transaction to update the status in IB automatically. i.e. suppose there is an user defined transaction "XYZ". I need to update the instance stause of an item to "CANCELLED" once that transaction happens on the item.

I was looking at doing the transform manually, but my challenge is how to parse the inbound String into XML Elements with their properties. For example:

If I get the value of the embedded XML as a string, how can I parse our or address the various elements and attributes in the embedded XML? I was hoping to use:
$aString cast as jkl:embeddedMessage
But on OSB10g this fails. Is there another way with XQuery or XSL to convert an embedded XML that comes in as a string, into a complex User-Defined type?

SOA Suite 11g - Email with attachments (Attachment from SOAP attachment)

Hello,
Can any one please help as to how I can do the following in Oracle SOA 11g:
Using a BPEL process how can I send an Email with attachments where the attachment itself is coming from a SOAP attachment.
The back ground is that we have portal sites from where the users can upload a document and then from their a SOA service is invoked and the attachment would be passed as (SOAP attachments) and then emails have to be send to users containing this uploaded document as the attachment.

OSB 11G xsl/xquery question in Proxy

OSB 11G
In Proxy, I have to invoke a business service which has 3 operations
I need to use response of first 2 operations,as request to third operation along with some input xml to OSB Proxy.
customer, group, severity are hard coded.(which will be input to OSB)
How do I add/insert response from op1 after <string>customer</string> ??
and response from op2 after <string>group</string> . ??

Not sure exactly what you need, but here is a basic layout of what you need to do.
Make a service callout to the first operation and save the response in a variable, for ex $resOne
Then make a service callout to the second operation ans save the response in a variable for ex $resTwo.
Now use a replace or assign action to create the request for the third operation:
If you are using a Route action on Route node to call the third operation, you should use a replace action and replace the contents of $body with the XML content as needed. If you are going to use another service callout, then you should use an assign to create a request variable.
In either case, this is what your XQuery should look like:

XSL transformation in OSB

Hi all,
I am new to OSB. I am having trouble to understand how to do XSL transformation in OSB.
I have created a business service which targets wsdl with a particular schema for the input message. I have created a separate wsdl for the proxy service with another schema the input message.
I have to invoke the business service from proxy service. For this, I have added a route node and then a routing activity. In the request line of the routing activity i have used an assign where i will use XSLT to map input message of the proxy wsdl to the input message of the business service.
How do we access other variables when creating an XSLT?
Is my approach to the problem correct?

Hi,
I am doing that in an replace action.
In my flow I have the proxy service, then a pipeline, then I have the route.
In the pipeline I have replaced the input request using a XQuery transformation. When I test it, I see the input is coming till the route.
But the same pay load is valid and workin if I pass it when I invoke the route service independently. when i use it in the flow its not working.
Simply it says the system error

Is there any place where I can refer how to work with passing data from current flow to the next flow.
Do i need to do the transformation before invoking the route, or inside the route service request pipeline?
Do I need to change the method, URI etc as wells? before invoking the routing?

How to get Database functions into xquery/XSLT in OSB 12c

How to make use of functions orcl:sequence-next-val and orcl:query-database in xslt/xquery in OSB 12c.
I need to do the below logic in xslt/xquery and used it in replace activity . But in OSB 12c I don't see these function. Request to provide me the solution to do it in OSB.

Xsl/stylesheet transformation problem in soap response(usinf xmlx-tags.tld)

I have problem in transforming the soap response using xmlx-tags.tld.....
I was not able to read the <EmpName> value from the returned xml...
The stylesheet / xsl does not return any elements if I use other then "/" in match

Dynamic xslt are not quite supported in OSB, there are some approaches that may be helpful for your case though...

Using xsl document function in transform xsl

I'm trying to use an external xml document in an xsl transform that's used in a Transform activity in an 11g BPEL process:
<xsl:variable name="plants" select="document('plantTransposeLookup.xml')/plants"/>
I need to load up the document to use it in a lookup to get replacement values for a key.
This works fine in JDev, but not when I deploy it to the server.
The error I get when I run it is:
The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: XML-22021: (Error) Error parsing external document: 'no protocol: plantTransposeLookup.xml'.. Check the detailed root cause described in the exception message text and verify that the XPath query is correct.
I've also gotten:
The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: XML-22021: (Error) Error parsing external document: 'Unsupported feature: 'document(''), when stylesheet built using InputStream, Reader'.
I've also tried using the ora:doc function:

......but this doesn't work in JDev and is also erroring off on the server with:

Does anyone know how to actually import an xml doc into a mapper??? I must be doing something stupid.

In OSB, document() function needs absolute path of the XML file. So if you want to access the XML document for lookup, you need to put the XML file on the server itself and use the path of the XML file.
Although this is not a correct approach for managing lookups in OSB. The resource of XML Document type are not to be used for such use cases. What you can do is create a XQuery which can server as DVM.

If you dont want to use XQuery and want to rely only on XSLT, then within the same XSLT document create a separate template which can store all the lookup data.

Accessing lookup table from XSL stylesheet

HI Gentlemen,
Given two XMLTYPE tables: a Master and a Lookup. The Lookup table consists merely of {key, value} pairs. I am about to display Master table contents--subtrees selected from one big XMLTYPE column. The display process is governed by an appropriate XSL stylesheet. Master table elements have data only in their attributes. For example: <time U="2"/> which means that the value of the Unit attribute is 2, meaning "Minute" according to the Lookup table.
My question is: Does anybody of you know a fast and safe method to SELECT from the Master AND Lookup (inner join, as in a pure relational environment), thereby REPLACING the key value with its MEANING (textual interpretation). This would be extremely important as numeric codes do not have meaning to the user. User-friendly behavior requires that all important information be displayed at once. (Note that I have nothing against modifying my stylesheet to query the Lookup table as well, if no straightforward master-detail querying technique exists.)
Please give me an idea if you have.

Here is the stuff you requested. I admit, it is fairly abundant, but you will see the structure and the main points. Some of the elements are multiple-occurrence, hence the XMLTABLE() solution was no good because of the large number of generated rows. The stylesheet would be ideal to display embedded "nested collections".

Xquery vs XSLT

Hi!
I am new in ALSb 2.6 And I have a a question: wich language for do the transformations is better? Xquery or XSLT?

For xsl development you could also use the xsl mapper from jdeveloper, but then you will be using 2 ide's for a small part of of development.
Both the xquery mapper from workshop studio and the xsl mapper from jdeveloper are really easy to use.
In xquery you can easily add more functions in your xquery, you can put more functionality in it if you ask me
