mh... had to add
Option      "RandRRotation" "on"
to the Monitor section for rotation to work. Adding it to the device section did not work. Can any1 confirm that, cause arch-wiki still says to add it to the device section.

  • IPod Buttons not working - Solved

I have a 60G iPod that wasn't working and I resolved it. I don't know what generation iPod I have but I bought it in 2005. Anyways I was recently having issues where the buttons just weren't responding no matter what I did, it was just unusable. I couldn't play music adjust the volume or even reset it. I solved my problem by plugging it in to charge, toggled the lock button and then the buttons worked. I reset it (menu center for about 10 secs.) I was on this forum looking for an answer and couldn't find one. I just hope this helps someone else.

There are issues with the proxy settings, and I had weird situations depending the network I was connecting...
When I use my wireless network I can use the online accounts correctly.
When I use a foreign wireless, mostly sure I can't.
And when I set a local proxy (e.g. pivoroxy) for https protocol, I get this error while adding the account:
    http://www.mail-archive.com/desktop-pac … 25738.html
That could be solved just by issuing:
    $ export https_proxy=
    $ gnome-control-center
Hope this could be useful for you,
    Regards,
EDIT: for some reason I wrote "I get this error will adding the account" instead of "I get this error *while* adding the account".

  • Usb stick not working (solved)

I copied some files to my usb stick and made sure it was working. Then I copied a open office file from my wifes computer running vista. After placing the usb stick back into my computer I got the following message
A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")
I went to xsessions and got the following message.
kded: ERROR: mount failed for /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_709E_ED39: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied - A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

Seeing as the stick worked before I copied a file from vista, did the vista change something in the usb so it will not work in anything but windows? Is there anything I can do?
    changed /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usb vfat noauto,users 0 0
    to /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usb auto noauto,users 0 0
    and now everything works fine

  • Kernel requirements for HPLIP (not working) [SOLVED]

My printer (connected to the network through my router with a static ip address) used to work fine with HPLIP and CUPS. When I last tested, I was (and am) using a custom-compiled zen kernel; the relevant modules that I compiled (separately, not into the kernel) are plip, ppdev, and parport. I am guessing that it is a combination of package upgrades and my custom kernel that is causing the problem below:
My printer is detected by CUPS, and I can see it on localhost:631. When I send jobs to it, it begins "processing" them, then hangs on a (to-print) page and I see the message
    /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp failed
I deleted the printer from CUPS and re-added using
    sudo hp-setup
The process goes just fine, with hp-setup only throwing a warning about how dbus must be running for the PC to fax (with which I am not concerned).
    When I run hp-testpage, I get this:

I didn't have python-dbus installed, which I did. hp-check -t still throws some errors, but I don't see how they are related to the printer not working (more scanning-related issues). Here's the new output of hp-check -t:

  • Custom kernel (2.6.31) - USB Mouse & Keyboard not working [solved]

So I've just recompiled the new kernel (2.6.31) as a custom, as is my custom!
USB Mouse and keyboard no worky (but do as PS/2).
As a quick thing to check - what kernel .config settings haven't I enabled properly? A quick check though and everything SEEMS to be in order.
The stock 2.6.31 kernel works fine with the USB inputs.
    Thanks in advance.
[solved] I realised I was operating off an older kernel26 package (2.6.30), so synching abs and rebuilding using the 2.6.31 package and leaving a few more stock options enabled, seems to have worked.

sry, idk how to get the error output of a compiled package via mkpkg. i know its a weird error...
has anyone tryed to open my kerenel configuration with a graphical cofiguration font end, and to see if the 3945 wireless module is marked as module? when i do it its not aviable. maybe today ill find some time to do the config and compile...
    my arch: x86 ; core duo; pentium m (kernel-processor-type); -march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer
yeah, config from testing *.31 works fine, but the job needs to be done to strip out all useless stuff out of that general kernel

  • Edit icons on the left not working

My edit screen is not allowing the drop down choices in the editing bar to the left to be displayed.  None of the boxes work.  For example....I only have use of the dodge tool. The burn tool cannot the accessed.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
    Laurie

Sorry, I got your name wrong earlier.  I was hoping someone else would take up your problem as I don't know Macs.  Try resetting Preferences by holding down the Shift Opt & Cmd keys as you start Photoshop.
If that makes no difference, I'm a bit stuck because you are first person with the problem in the time I've been on this forum, but I generally avoid Mac related threads.
Can you toggle through the fly out options using the shortcut with the Shift key?
Have you tried both right and left clicking the relevant toolbar icons?
Try resetting the Workspace.  If did this with something like the Essentials workspace, that should restore the default shortcuts.
I wonder if the screen mode is covering something up?  Try toggling through the three modes with the f key.  Only the first two options allow access to the toolbar.
I feel like I am grasping at straws, but I don't know Macs.
What Photoshop related plugins - if any - are installed on that system?
It might be quicker to simply reinstall Photoshop.

  • Fade out left not working

When I use the fade out left behavior on text, the text just disappears and does not fade out. The funny thing is it works on the first text assest that I apply it on. From then on everytime I try to use it, the text just disappears without fading out. I am not changing any of the properties of the behavior. I don't understand why it is working with some text and not others. Can someone please help me.
    thanks

When I film I usually keep about 5 secs before and after where I want it to start so I will have more workspace for the fade in and out. I.E I have 2 clips I want them to fade in and out.You move the first one a little away from the beginning of the timeline then add a fade in there. Then you want to move the second clip over add a fade out on the end of the first clip. If there is not anymore room move more of the second clip over then add a fade in. To close off the project add a fade off at the end.

  • Emacs Tramp not work [SOLVED]

I know this thread is labelled [SOLVED], but I don't think it is.
I'm configuring another Arch box and encountered this problem all over again.  This time, I'm using emacs-nox 23.3-2, so my earlier solution (emacs-bzr) is not an option.
I've tried the tramp that came with emacs, and the newer aur/tramp 2.2.1-3, which I believe has the patch mentioned in this thread.  Both versions of tramp just fail to work.  They hang when I try to open /sudo::/... or connect to a remote machine.
A simple search for "tramp hangs" returns lots of reasons of pages and explanations, but they all seem rather old and as far as I can tell do not apply to my case  (I haven't modified my prompt, use zsh, or anything else weird).
    So, I'm stymied.

  • Brightness at Windows 7 not working - solved

In my T400 with Windows 7 installed I had the problem that the brightness adjustment didn't work.
I searched all forums and installed all new released drivers for Windows 7 (released version) but it didn't solve my problem (including hotkey-driver).
Now I got it: I installed the new BIOS for my T400 and now all is working properly.

Fixed by using the alternative i810 driver within the xf86-video-intel package.

  • KDE4 on Arch in VirtualBox not working [SOLVED]

Hi all.  I have the latest version of VBox (3.2.12) on my windows installation (I dual-boot Arch and Vista), and I've been using it to toy around with Arch setups.
I decided to try KDE4, yet again (honestly, every time I try it, I get turned off from it within 20 minutes, but I keep coming back to try it. Odd?).
After installing Arch64, xorg, setting up user accounts, etc (standard desktop procedure), I -S'd kdebase.  Once it finished installing, I added "exec startkde" to my .xinitrc, and typed "startx."
Consistently, the splash screen appears, loads the first two icons, then freezes upon loading the "world" icon, dumps me back to console.  The one notable error was that the vboxmodule was not found.  I reinstalled the guest additions to no avail.
At first I thought it was just an error with vbox and the new xorg 1.9, but OpenSUSE's KDE4 works fine (thank God for Arch by the way... I was turned off by SUSE very quickly).  I'm going to attempt yet another installation of it, but I reinstalled KDE as kdebase, kde, kde-meta, etc, and none worked. I reinstalled guest additions multiple times, tried as many tweaks as I could find, and nothing seemed to work. The one thing that *did* work was completely impractical: forcing kde to ignore compositing using "openglisunsafe = true" seemed to work, but the desktop was so slow that it was pointless to use.
I ran into this issue about 2 weeks ago, and deleted the Arch vbox since then. I only post this now because I realized that KDE works under SUSE, but not under Arch. I'll try again and dump the xorg logs for someone else to examine. Until then, any thoughts?

This has me curious why yours suddenly worked?
I have the exact same thing - Virtual box running on win 7 x64 host, Arch 64 bit works fine with gnome, so long as I don't try starting compiz, and KDE doesn't launch unless I change the OpenGLIsUnsafe value.
VirtualBox settings have 3D acceleration set to enabled, with 128 MB of video memory.
The error that x.org throws upon lauching compiz in gnome or KDE with opengl on is the same
    from /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    http://pastebin.com/ue4A98vQ
VirtualBox additions are direct from the ISO, although I've tried PEUL & OSE from the repo's.
They are working - as resizing the window changes the resolution.
    I've looked at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vi … as_a_guest
and even edited it because the openGL section for guests was in the wrong place.
Also tried running from gdm or kdm and still no joy
Any differences to what you've tried hwkiller?

  • Firefox-3.0.1-2 child windows not working [SOLVED]

    Hi everyone!
After last upgrade to firefox-3.0.1-2 every time i tried to open a child window (i.e clicking on Edit/Preferences or Help/About) the new window opens minimized and with no content.
Is anybody experiencing the same problem?
Last edited by chapet (2008-07-28 11:16:54)

It is working fine here too. Are you sure you don't have any firefox or other xulrunner applications still running that you did not restart after the upgrade?

  • Fade sound right-to-left not working?

I'm playing around with the sound properties to fade an audio
clip from one channel to another. When I select "Fade
Right-to-Left" and click on the Custom button to preview the sound,
there is a noticeable stereo effect of the sound fading between
channels. However, when I press Ctrl+Enter to test the movie, I
only hear the sound in mono, albeit slightly muted. I tried going
to Publish Settings and removing the "Convert Stero to Mono"
option, but that doesn't fix the problem. What gives?
PS. The sound I'm using is a 32kbps mono MP3.

    Hasn't
anyone ever worked with sound effects before?

  • Systemd poweroff not working [SOLVED]

I have installed systemd on both my laptop and my desktop pc. The laptop is working fine, but the desktop PC will not poweroff any more.
systemctl reboot, halt or poweroff simply run to "Stopped target Remote File Systems" and then sits winking at me.
Adding --force just gets to the winking quicker.
To be honest, I don't know where to look.
    Thanks
