Yahoo Mail message issue

I've seen some postings about this, but my issue seems to be a little different. I have a Yahoo Mail account set up on my iPhone (actually, it's an old sbcglobal.net email). Everything was working fine until about 1 week ago, when I started seeing emails come into my inbox with the correct subject line, but the body of the message only contained "This message has no content". There's nothing to tell me to download the rest of the messasge or anything. When I go into Yahoo Mail directly (either on my computer or through Yahoo Mobile mail), the message and content are there.
I've tried to delete and reestablish my account on my phone, with no difference. I have also set up the account manually. When I do that, I can see the content in these messages, but I don't get all of my other folders, and my mailbox on my phone doesn't seem to sync up with Yahoo (I can delete a message on my phone and it still shows in my inbox on Yahoo Mail).
Anyone have any ideas about this? Like I said, it just started happening about 1 week ago. I'm running the current version if iOS.
Any help would be appreciated!

This is a server issue with Yahoo. I've seen at least 1 other thread about receiving subject line only without the body, and the problem resolved as mysteriously as it appeared.

The best solution is to find another email provider. Of all the "major" hosts, Yahoo has been consistantly (and by far) the least reliable with the iPhone.

• Yahoo Mail Messages on my 8120

I enabled Yahoo mail on my corporate issued 8120, I'm getting my Yahoo messages fine, but the problem is that they end up in both my Yahoo Mail folder as well as my corporate messages folder. I don't want copies of my personal messages being tossed into my corporate mail box, any idea as to how I can fix this?
And I'd like to seperate my SMS messages out from my corporate messages/mailbox also, can I do this? Everything seems to end up in "messages", but to me that's supposed to be my corporate mailbox and not a unified messaging folder.
Day 2 on the BB, so apologies if I'm missing the obvious.
Thanks!

Thanks Cowboy, that is very helpful, my SMS is now seperate from my email messages.
But I'm still getting Yahoo mail placed into both my default messages folder as well as my Yahoo mail folder. I do have the Yahoo mail folder, Yahoo email messages do show up in that folder, the problem is that a copy of those messages also show up in my default "messages" folder. I couldn't find any way to further "seperate" messages, any ideas?

• IPhone 5 won't push Yahoo Mail messages

Hi everyone! I do love the iPhone 5 but I've experienced a problem for about a week now. The problem is that the phone won't push new e-mails instantly. The funny thing is, it will push data on one Yahoo account, but not the other. (I do have two accounts set up.) I noticed that the account that isn't working was set as the default address, which is what I prefer, but I did just switch it to see if that does any good. I doubt it will.
I can get my new yahoo e-mail messages by manually refreshing or pulling down to refresh. It's not that they aren't coming in at all, it's just that I'm not getting them instantly and that can be frustrating at times. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I'm just using the standard mail app for iPhone, not using the Y Mail app. All software is up to date and I am running iOS 6.0.2

first of all, the iphone doesn't do the pushing. Yahoo's mail service in conjunction with apple's push notification server does the job, the iphone receives them.
so the problem may be with the abover 2 services. contact them.

• Yahoo mail connectivity issues - Yahoo Server unavailable

I had my Yahoo mail account configured on my iPod touch 4th Gen for over 6 months, suddenly I was prompted to add my "caldav" password and I could not access my mail. I tried so many things to get it working suggested on the internet and forums and eventually deleted the account from the iPod to try and det in working.
I still get "Server unavailable" when setting it up ...... access to email via Safari works OK
1. There is no issues with my Yahoo password.
2. Deleted and re-created my account on the iPod (after power cycle etc)
3. Actually tried another Yahoo account - still no joy
4. Tried adding an account as "Other" using Yahoo's IMAP & SMTP settings to push mail .......... it just says checking for mail
5. Added "other SMTP" server to outgoing mail etc ...... using smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Nothing seems to work. Anybody any ideas? This is the most frustrating thing I have ever known .............
Many thanks
Hope someone can point me in the right direction

It gets even stranger ....... although my Yahoo account won't actual connect to the Yahoo mail servers via iOS mail client and it does not have the ability to receive emails, I can select a photo image and select "email photo" the standard iOS client send email screen is displayed and I can send the image and subject with text to any email address and it is received OK. When I load the iOS mail client and go into sent items the email is there to confirm it was sent via the client.
I still can't pull email and but can send directly from the client itself, after the email is sent I receive the following :-
Cannot get mail
No password provided for "Yahoo!".
Please go to your mail account settings and enter a password
Of course I have tried entering the valid password, but it just gets rejected with the usual "Server unavailable"
Madness ... it must be a corruption of the local Mail client surely? Anyone seen this before and how to fix?
Help appreciated

• Why can't my Lumia phone get the yahoo mail messag...

Hi,
just bought myself a Lumia 920 and configured my yahoo mail account. Unfortunately it seems that the Lumia only polls every 15min(at best) but my N8 gets the same mail instantly.
Am I doing something wrong or is this just another "Lumia feature"?

Strange, thought that it would. Perhaps there are some settings within your Yahoo Mail account when you check it on a PC? Maybe something in there. if there isn't any other settings on the phone, then only thing you can do is check on PC as i said, or leave feature suggestion over at http://windowsphone.uservoice.com

• Yahoo mail connection issue on iPhone4s iOS6

I have recently updated my iPhone software to iOS6. Now I am unable to connect to the yahoo server on my mobile phone. The error that I get is: "apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incomimg mail Server" field. I have the correct information and no matter what I have tired nothing seems to work.
Please advise.

After further investigation, this appears to be an issue with Mail that hasn't been fixed by Apple yet. There's a ton of people experiencing the same issue as you. Some have been able to fix it via updating OSX to the latest build, but others continue to have the issue even after that. Moving accounts to Outlook seems to be the only stable solution, but that may not be what you're looking for. For now, either make it a habit to close out of Mail before sleeping or restart it after waking to fix this. As a more streamlined workaround, if you log off before closing your lid, when you log back in, the system will automatically reopen all your programs that were running before if you leave that option checked. I know it's not what you want as well, but at least this way you don't have to do the restart of the app yourself.

• Yahoo mail sync issue after upgrade to iOS 5

After i have upgraded to iOS 5 my emails from Yahoo are a month off.
Only the emails from a month before are synchronized. As an example, today 10/24 I can see the emails from until 9/13.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ok, thanks everyone's experience sharing with each other. after I try so many time with my bro for this issue, finally we got solution to solve this issue.
I'm using iPhone 4 and my bro is using iPod touch 4th Generation, we both upgrade to iOS 5,
then I was thinking that when I do Facetime setting, there is a selection that you can use your Apple ID as your Facetime account, so I changed my Facetime account with Apple ID, the default setting is using your phone number. then its works!! now I can use Facetime with my bro in airplane mode.
I guess before I upgrade iOS 5, iOS 4 allow Facetime auto detect to use phone number(if airplane mode is off) or use Apple ID, which your email address to connect to another user, but iOS 5 not allow it or disable auto detect, (I just guess).
anyway now I only use Apple ID as my Facetime account, then I can use Facetime under airplane mode. hope it help you guys.

• Solution to yahoo mail setup issues with Apple mail...

There have to be a lot of people out there who have a similar setup as me --- ISP is Verizon (FIOS), and am using an iMac w/OS X, v 10.7.4, and Apple Mail v 5.2. No matter what I did, I could not get Apple mail to connect to Yahoo's smtp server... (Gmail was not working either) I spent hours on this. FINALLY -- I discovered the problem. My FIOS router/firewall was on the maximum security setting, which only allows outgoing smtp mail to port 25! Once I changed that firewall setting (which allows outgoing smtp mail to port numbers other than 25), I was finally able to connect to yahoo's smtp server! Now my Apple mail works just fine. Here are the settings I used:
Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Incoming port: 995
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing port: Used "custom port" set to 465
SSL is used for both incoming and outgoing servers, with password as the authentication method.
Full email address is used wherever it says "user name" in mail preferences
* This is with Yahoo Plus mail. And before you do anything with Apple mail, you have to make sure that you enable "POP" mail in your Yahoo Plus account, under mail - settings.
I hope this saves some people the hours of time that it cost me!!

I have managed to get incoming mail to work. It is the outgoing settings that are still not working on my system. I have tried every configuration. I have gone back and forth between Verizon and Apple Care too many times to count.
Do you have to turn down the security level on the FIOS router/firewall before making these changes? If you do, it probably makes the system more vulnerable to malware, etc.
I have standard Yahoo Verizon mail. I believe you can enable it for POP mail. It certainly always worked for me before. Like you I have tried everything. I was also told that my internet connection is PPPoE versus DHCP which may also cause problems. Like you, I have spent days trying to sort this out.

• In Yahoo mail, messages stay "bold" after reading. This does not happen when going on thru internest explorer or other browser.

I notice that almost all text is now "bold", including the text when I write emails.

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Missing icons can be supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) in case you see little boxes that show the hex code of the characters.
You can check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).

• In Firefox, can't attach files to Yahoo Mail outgoing messages. Yahoo Mail works fine in Internet Explorer though.

Since yesterday, when I switched from Comcast to AT&T as my broadband internet connection, I have not been able to attach files to my Yahoo mail messages using Mozilla Firefox. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer, but my default browser is Firefox by choice. Is this a Yahoo issue or a Firefox issue? Can you help me resolve it?

Not helpful. 'clearing Firefox's cache' is not helpful, since 'cache' doesn't show up in any of the Firefox pulldown menu choices (wasted time looking for that), and the plethora of things 'recent' and 'history' to choose to act on in these menus is also a possible waste of time, not to mention removing useful info for no reason.
I, too, have had this problem 'intermittently' for many months, always involving the 'first' file to attach in a Yahoo! email, and I've always used this workaround OK: click on the filename showing as 'being attached' (while Yahoo's doohickey round spinner denoting 'in progress' whirls and whirls to no effect) and use "Remove File"; THEN, REPEAT 'attach file' task & it then works, if slowly. After that for the same email, attaching add'l files NEVER HAS A PROBLEM.
SO, now today, without any software update yet (I've downloaded Firefox v.11 & will install shortly), at numerous attempts during the day, I CANNOT get the FIRST file to attach in a Yahoo! email. Simply, utterly, frustrating without any rhyme or reason. "Everything else, on plethora of sites, working fine."
thanks.

• Excessive Incoming Messages in Mail configured to Yahoo Mail

From a Mac newby...
Each time I open Mail on my new Mac Mini (OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3), Mail Activity shows thousands of incoming messages arriving at a rate of roughly 40 per minute. But the only emails going into my inbox are "legitimate" emails from friends and customers.
I've configured Mail to use Yahoo Mail (although I've also set up and enabled an iCloud account which I don't use). Are those thousands of incoming messages in fact old Yahoo Mail messages that have to load onto Mail each time I open it?
Whatever they are, is this avoidable? I don't seem to be losing any messages, but it slows the computer down for quite a while, and just doesn't "feel right".
If this is an issue inherent to Yahoo Mail on a Mac, I will consider using a different main address. What sort of address is least likely to be problematic with Mail software? Changing my main email address is a big deal and I wouldn't want to have to do it again in the near future.
P.S. Would prefer answers that are understandable to, say, an unusually bright chimp

If I understand you correctly, you would like to handle your mail directly on the remote server? That is not possible from Mail.app. There may be other Mail clients that offer this option or you could simply handle your Mail with your web browser.

• Selective sync process with Yahoo mail contacts in importing them to Windows 8x phone?

"Syncing" (importing) Yahoo mail messages and contacts appears simple. Setting > email etc, select Yahoo and it creates a Yahoo tile and imports individual contacts into People Hub. Except that out some 120 contacts I have in my online Yahoo account only some 50 were brought over. I tried exporting a Microsoft Outlook CSV file to Outlook.com and the same thing happens. A number of such contacts are simple, just a name (letters, numbers, @ sign only) and an email address but they did not make it.
Oh sorry, I bought a new Windows Phone 8x 4G LTE unit that is fantastic....except for this problem.
Anyone has a suggestion how I could bring over the other contacts (so that I do not have to do it manually, one by one, on the phone)?
Thank you.

Found a solution (there may be others): since I read that a problem may be with strange characters/info in my Yahoo Mail contacts, I extrapolated a Microsoft Outlook CSV file from the Yahoo account. Brought the file into a spread sheet and erase all the info except for the individual names and email addresses. Then save the file in the same format. Opened my Outlook.com account, went to People, then 'import from file' and designated this CSV file and it came over without a hitch.
I hope this is of help to others facing this problem. Best,

• When using Yahoo Mail in Firefox, I can't copy and paste pictures from a third-party host. I can do this in MSIE 8.

I'm accustomed to copying pictures that I placed on a third-party host (Photobucket or Multiply) and pasting them into the body of a Yahoo Mail message. I can't do that on Firefox. When I click "Paste," nothing happens.

• Newest ver of yahoo mail - embedded images problem

FireFox 10.0.2: sending imbedded [copies] images in the body of yahoo mail message results in the receiver seeing "truncated message". This did not occur in the previous mail version and does not occur in IE ver 9. Standard procedures like clearing the Cache in mail did not solve the problem.

Thanks, for the very helpful information. I had talked with 4 different techies at Dell (all young men in India, of course) and could NOT get the answer!
