Year getting reduced by 1, when querying date fields
Hi, I am an Oracle retail support engineer. One of my clients logged an SR with the following:
When querying application table (shown below), the date comes out as corrupted (data snippet also shown below):
Query:
select create_date, to_char(create_date,'DD-MON-RRRR') from shipment_table;
Result:
CREATE_DATE TO_CHAR(CREATE_DATE,'DD-MON-RRRR')
08-JAN-10 08-JAN-2009
08-JAN-10 08-JAN-2009
08-JAN-10 08-JAN-2009
08-JAN-10 08-JAN-2009
08-JAN-10 08-JAN-2009
Any idea, what can cause this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Srinivas
Unfortunately, i'm not able to produce that error.

Issue with fetching records when SalesForce Date Fields involved
Using the Events application of Salesforce I enter a record of data. The record has a Start Date of Monday and an End Date of Friday for a given week. Crystal will not fetch/display the record in the report. If I go back and change the Start Date and the end Date to teh same day, the record will print in Crystal.
Is there some Date flag within Crystal that I need to toggle allowing a record to print based on date ranges? I don't understand why a record would print when Start and End Date are the same but will not print when different?Here is the code.... I have also noticed that there are three fields - Start Date, End Date and Due Date. Only when all 3 fields are set to the same value within Salesforce will the record print in Crystal. I have tried removing any reference to the Date fields in the crystal report but its not helping

JSTL sql:query date field has zero time part
I have a little JSP where I am using JSTL to do a query against a table "ph_application" that has a date field "rundate". This field has many different dates and times in it.
Here is the code snippet:
<sql:setDataSource url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@oraprd02:1521:ipp4" user="site" password="pmc_site"/>
<sql:query var="application" sql="select * from ph_application"/>
<c:forEach items="${application.rows}" var="row">
<tr>
<td><c:out value="${row.name}" default=" " escapeXml="false"/></td>
<td><fmt:formatDate value="${row.rundate}" type="both"/></td>
</tr>
</c:forEach>
The resulting date/time output always has a 12:00:00 AM time regardless of what is actually in the table. I have changed the fmt:formatDate to a c:out of the row.rundate.time value and it appears that the time part of the date is actually zero at this point.
Is there an inconsistancy between the oracle date type and what JSTL is expecting (somewhere)?
Any help and/or verification is appreciated.
RichardI'm running this from within JDeveloper 10g.

I am having a problem querying on date fields using the Thin driver. I originally had the problem in the context of a bean used by a JSP, but reproduced the problem in a test app. The problem is that despite the fields being populated and verifying the SQL in SQLPLUS, the calls to ResultSet.getString() and getDate() always return null.
I run the query as follows:
results = statement.executeQuery("select NAME, START_DATE from EMPLOYEES where id=1");
String startDate;
try{
results.next();
startDate = results.getString("START_DATE");
catch ...
startDate always comes up null.
I have also tried ResultSet.getDate(), same problem.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug? I have searched the news groups and bug reports and haven't found anything.
Also, a possibly related problem:
Using the same driver, a where clause of the form "where START_DATE < {d `2000-01-01'}" does not return any records, despite several qualifying records in the database.
This literal date format comes from section 11.3 of the JDBC 1.2 spec. Am I using this correctly?
I am using the 8.1.6 driver, and I think the db is 8 or 8i, I will check with the DBA tomorrow.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
AlUse PreparedStatement and its set methods instead. It will not only protect you from SQL injections, but it will absolutely also ease setting Java objects in an SQL query.

How to get days and months when two dates are given
Hi All,
I have a requirement where I need to return the number of months and days between given dates.

I have 28-jun-2012 and 31-jan-2013 as dates.
I'm working on 10g

Dynamically set iChart pen colors at page runtime when query data changes
I have a page with an iChart (3D Bar Chart) where I am currently allowing the pen colors to set automaticlly inthe diplay template. However, the SQL Query that supplies the data, will return a different number of rows depending on user selections. The data is aggregated by type and could possibly return up to 7 rows, a row for each type. As an example.....
Query run #1 retuns rows for:
Type 1
Type 3
Type 4
Type 5
Query Run #2 returns rows for:
Type 1
Type 2
Type 3
I would like to set the iChart pen colors so they would aloways be the same for each Type returned by the SQL Query....
Type 1 - blue
Type 2 - green
Type 3 - red
Type 4 - orange
Type 5 - pink
Type 6 - purple
Type 7 - black
I would like these colors to be used whether or not query returns data for a specific type or not. Any help would be greatly appreciatedOK. Assuming you are returning the color value or the type value in the Query we can do this.
First, in your Chart Template, link the value that will determine the color (either the "Color" column or the "Type" column from the query) to the Datalink Columns field on the Data Mapping tab of the Chart Template.
Then using an applet event (update event) fire a javascript function. This function will update the pen colors of your chart dynamically.
Use document.myApplet.getChartObject().getDatalinkValue(PENNUMBER,POINTNUMBER,ATTRIBUTE) where PENNUMBER is the Pen or Row in your query, POINTNUMBER can probably be left at '1', and ATTRIBUTE is the numerical index of the datalink value (probably also 1).
This will give you either your Color value or your Type value.
From there set the PenColor of the Chart using document.myApplet.getChartObject().setPenColor(INDEX, NEWVALUE) where INDEX is the actually Pen Number (query row) and NEWVALUE is the new color. Keep in mind the NEWVALUE is expecting a color object not an English color.
You can create a color from an English string by using document.myApplet.createColor("blue").
Then, don't forget to update the Chart -
document.myApplet.updateChart(false). Don't do "true" or else you'll end up in an infinite loop.
Try that out. -
Function module to get the month name when start date and end date given
Hey Experts,
I am creating a employee bonus report. In this report each and every employee's month wise working days have to be calculated and displayed in the report. I need to find a function module which helps me split the given dates into that particular month. Please help me with the same.
Regards,
G. ShankarHi Shankar,
I think there are two Function Modules.
First One is 'HR_RU_MONTH_NAME_IN_GENITIVE' in this u need to pass month number and for that u have extract month number from date.
And Second One is 'ISP_GET_MONTH_NAME' in this u need to pass date or month number, it directly accepts date.
Check this two and let me know.

Low performances when querying data dictionary Oracle 11g
Query:
SELECT
ucc_fk.column_name FK_COLUMN_NAME,
ucc_pk.table_name PK_TABLE_NAME,
ucc_pk.column_name PK_COLUMN_NAME
FROM user_constraints uc_fk
INNER JOIN user_cons_columns ucc_fk ON (ucc_fk.constraint_name = uc_fk.constraint_name)
INNER JOIN user_constraints uc_pk ON (uc_pk.constraint_name = uc_fk.r_constraint_name)
INNER JOIN user_cons_columns ucc_pk ON (ucc_pk.constraint_name = uc_fk.r_constraint_name AND ucc_pk.position = ucc_fk.position)
WHERE
uc_fk.constraint_type = 'R' AND
uc_pk.constraint_type = 'P' AND
uc_fk.table_name = 'TABLE_NAME';
works ok on 10g but is very slow on 11g? How to improve performances?You dont need to join with user_constraints again unless you are trying to avoid references to a unique key.
SELECT ucc_fk.column_name FK_COLUMN_NAME, ucc_pk.table_name PK_TABLE_NAME, ucc_pk.column_name PK_COLUMN_NAME
FROM user_constraints uc_fk
JOIN user_cons_columns ucc_fk
ON (ucc_fk.constraint_name = uc_fk.constraint_name)
JOIN user_cons_columns ucc_pk
ON (ucc_pk.constraint_name = uc_fk.r_constraint_name
AND ucc_pk.position = ucc_fk.position)
WHERE uc_fk.constraint_type = 'R'
AND uc_fk.table_name = 'TABLE_NAME';As you can see I have removed the join to user_constraints and hence the condition uc_pk.constraint_type = 'P'
The reason being the it is already validated to be in ('P','U') for all r_constraint_names.

Slow response when query v$lock or some data dictionary
Hello,
We have a severe problem with our database performance problem. Here is the situation:
1. When query data dictionary such as v$lock from any Windows machine on the network, the performance is slow (about 3 minutes.)
2. When query v$lock directly on the server where database reside, the query come back fast (normal).
3. When query user table such as employees from any windows machine on the network, the performance is normal.
4. When query user table directly from server where the database reside, the query come back normal.
Looking at v$session_wait on the slow query, it is waiting on "SQL*Net message to client".
We have people from our network group, security group and did not find anything problem.
Thank for you help!!!user8175606 wrote:

Thank for you help!!!I saw the same problem several times. All of them were related with wrong execution plan in the v$lock (and dba_locks, and others based on v$lock). For instance due to "crazy" optimizer mode FIRST_ROWS.
Also look at note 431770.1.
I suggest that when you looked at v$session_wait and saw the event "SQL*Net message to client" state of the event was not = WAITING. Please check. It means that Oracle is not waiting but is burning CPU.
Thus, please let us know - does another optimizer mode improve performance?

Hi Experts,
I encountered an issue when querying data from a table synonym. Some newly created data can be found in the physical table, but not seen from its synonym created in another schema. What could cause this?
Thanks for your help.The synonym is defined as:
CREATE OR REPLACE SYNONYM "APPS"."synm_table1" FOR "CN"."table1";
When I query from APPS schema:
select * from synm_table1 where last_update_date>'16-jul-10'
I get nothing.
When I query:
select * from CN.table1 where last_update_date>'16-jul-10'
I get the expected rows.What are the results of

Errors when loading data to ODS
Hi,
I am getting the following dump when loading data to ODS
whta might be the problem
Runtime Error MESSAGE_TYPE_X
Date and Time 29.09.2006 14:26:52
ShrtText
The current application triggered a termination with a short dump.
What happened?
The current application program detected a situation which really
should not occur. Therefore, a termination with a short dump was
triggered on purpose by the key word MESSAGE (type X).
What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
date.
is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.

How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
use the following search criteria:
"MESSAGE_TYPE_X" C
"SAPLSDCL" or "LSDCLF00"
"INTERNAL_ERROR"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->

2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
"System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->

Smash126Hi Smash126,
Based on the error message” Could not allocate a new page for database REPORTING' because of insufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY'. Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting
autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup”, we can know that the issue is caused by the there is no sufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY' for the ‘REPORTING’ database.
To fix this issue, we can add additional files to the filegroup by add a new file to the PRIMARY filegroup on Files page, or setting Autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup to increase the necessary space.
The following document about Add Data or Log Files to a Database is for your reference:

If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong
