Yellow boxes for accessibilty

im doing an accessible site and i know that objects are
accessible by default. all my buttons were highlighted in yellow
when tabbing through...
then i opened my accessiblity panel to add labels and now the
yellow boxes are gone. i've deleted all the additions but still no
sign of the yellow boxes.
accessibilty is checked for everything, i've gone through the
whole site. nothing seems to be missing. is there some way i can
globally re-set the accessibility settings.
thanks for reading

Previous to now, I never wanted the yellow boxes either...but now I'm working on e-learning that must be 508 compliant, meaning it must work for people with disabilities, so I've discovered how important those yellow boxes are.
I figured it had something to do with the FocusManager but wasn't sure.  I've set TabEnabled and TabIndexs but it still causes issues.  I'm wondering if they must be set via code versus the accessibility panel.  I do have some buttons set via code and while they appear to still be in the tabIndex, the yellow box doesn't work.  There's 10 buttons and you can count the tabs as it goes thru but no yellow box.
I guess I'll just have to build my own textScroller instead of using the UIScroll.  Another pain but I guess that's what it takes.  Just another buggy thing about Flash CS4....just like how the tabIndex numbers do not show up in the authoring environment.

  • The yellow box around the pages when using Word Processing

I am somewhat new to the Mac, work with "Pages" to do newsletters. The first time I chose to use the Word Processing. Next I tried Pages layout.
It was when clicked on "View thumbnails" in Word Processing newsletter that I noticed the yellow box all around the pages. If I tried to delete a page, they all went. Luckily there is an "undo delete" button. (o:
I have since read the difference between layout and Word Processing from one of the posts. Is there any way to delete the yellow box?

There is one yellow box for each Section of the document. When you delete a Thumbnail, you delete the entire Section, however many pages are in that section. In Page Layout, each Page is a Section, so it may be deleted without affecting other pages.
To delete one page out of a Section in a Word Processing document, the easiest way is to highlight all its content and hit the Delete key.

  • Why can't yellow box appear on year beyond 2 years?

I create many events in 2014 in iCal. When I select list, it show only up to 2 years?  Same thing with yellow box mark on each month didn't show beyond 2 years. Is there I can set up?

Something with your installation?  I have played full lenght (90-120min) movies on my Mac, in Linux and on Windows and never encountered any problems.
Sometimes you may run into a codec problem on an older Windows installation?  Or there are a ton of freeware and shareware players for Windows, but not all of them are equally good, so the player program may be at fault.
Also on windows, depending on what security and/or AV software you use, it can interfer with display of large files.
At work I have to use a quad-core Windows 7 Pro (64bit) machines, but I've streamed large video's just fine (training programs or previously recorded webinars and such).  With the right software and setup, Windows has no problems with large videos.

  • How do I get rid of this yellow box with my name/address that is stuck at top of my screen?

I have this annoying yellow box at the top of my screen.  I am guessing my baby girl was typing on the computer and hit some combination because now I have this yellow box on the top of the screen with my name and address in it and I can't move it or make it disappear.  Any ideas?
Also, how do I defragment my iMac?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Re the yellow box, have you tried restarting?
If you click on the box, what application name is displayed for the app menu (that's the first menu to the right of the Apple menu)?
Re defragmenting your Mac, such is usually not needed with OS X. OS X usually takes care of that itself, on the fly. What causes you to think it may be necessary to defragment the drive?

  • How do I get rid of an annoying yellow box displaying file data?

Within the last couple of days a yellow box displaying details of any graphic file beneath the cursor has started to appear when I switch spaces. It stays on screen for ten seconds then disappears. Clicking the mouse also removes it. It is very irritating. I recall something like this happening some time ago and was told how to remove it, but don't remember how. I would welcome suggestions.

I'm not seeing anything like that. Did you install anything lately that might be causing that?

  • How to delete a page in thumbnail veiw when all connected in yellow box

How do I delete a page from thumbnail view if they are all locked in one yellow box? Never happend before. What do I need to turn off?
Why did it group the three pages? I added a page to the document and it grouped all three together.
    J

Here is the deal with this nonesense. It is again a Pages fault to over design. In order to delete a complete page within a series of pages in your document. You must leave the view thumbnail, goto Sections and delete the page out of sections. Why? Likely because you can add page break, additional pages in sections but not in thumbnail. EASIER PAGES/MAC SOLUTION: Click on the page in the thumbnail veiw and hit delete, but that would be to simple for the mac/pages software developers. Still a great tool to use though.

  • Annoying Yellow Boxes - Mac OS 10.4.10

I am becoming annoyed at the appearances of "Yellow Boxes" that appear everywhere in Mac OS 10.4.10. To help provide an explanation, I have put an image of an example of one of them on Flickr. You can see the page with the image and a description of the problem here:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/45332683@N00/908753214/
Or, if you want to only see the image, you may look here:
    http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1207/908753214_5eed73be02.jpg?v=0
Yellow boxes of this type _continually appear_ in Mac OS 10.4.10. Some of them are much larger than the one shown here. They will disappear after about 10-15 seconds, but I wish that I did not see them at all. Does anyone know of any way to disable them? Are there any tools (i.e. Onyx, Mac Pilot, System Optimizer X) that will allow me to disable them? They appear everywhere in Mac OS 10.4.10, and are _not limited_ to certain applications. They are even visible (and still annoying) from the Mac OS 10.4 User Account Login screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In advance, thank you.
    D.G.

Hi ... I am still wondering if there is an easier way to solve the problem, rather than use the one mentioned above for an application by application basis. I'm not too well versed in Terminal. Could someone please tell me how to apply a global setting (one that would cause the change to take place everywhere, not just in the current/specific applications only)?
Another related question I have, if I apply the settings to the Finder, will the settings also be applied to the login window, after I logout from my account? Or, is the login window controlled by something other than my account (maybe ROOT)? Sorry for being impatient. I was so hopeful when I received the first reply, but have become frustrated after understanding how the suggested fix actually works. I am still hopeful that someone will be able to provide an answer, explaining to me if or how it is possible to apply the setting globally, not individually for every application. Again, as before, thank you in advance.

  • URL in yellow box

Whenever I have my mouse pointer on a link on a web page, the url of that link appears in a yellow box. It is sometimes usefull, but most of the time annoying!
I know there is a way to turn off that feature, but I don't remember how...
    Can someone help me?

    You're welcome. Glad to help.

  • Get rid of yellow box?

Is there any way to get rid of, or change the color of, that bright yellow box around the selected view? It is quite distracting given the new darker color scheme, and it makes it difficult to judge and adjust colors in the view.

Thanks Ben, but no it's not the selection box I am talking about. I am asking about the yellow outline around the currently active view window when more than one view is active. There is no on/off for it in View and no color adjustment in Prefs for it that I can find.

  • That annoying yellow box

Is there a way to get rid of the yellow box that hovers over the text when you're editing it? I'd like to never has to see the ** thing again.
    This one:

I think I've figured it out, and your mention of the carats is what triggered the thought. In the document I'm working on I'm using track changes, and I had to change the first line indent for every paragraph in the document. Most changes in track changes are marked by the carat for deletions and the color blue for inserted text.
When you change the format of a paragraph, however, it can't be indicated by a simple carat because you've altered an entire paragraph, so that annoying box pops up when you hover over a paragraph (and anywhere in that paragraph) whose style has been changed.
If I accept the change on a paragraph, the box stops appearing when I hover over that paragraph. So, it's a 'feature' that gets in the way of actually working on the document.

  • Yellow box surrounding my quotation mark... How do I remove this?

Hello there, when I press the key combination of shift and ; , I should get the " symbol... After pressing shift and ; I'm getting the " symbol, but it is surrounded by a yellow box... I made a youtube video for demonstration. I'm sure this is a simple setting which can be adjusted somewhere... but I've looked everywhere in my preferences and no luck.
Here's the youtube video to demonstrate my problem.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQpm85dgH_U
    Thanks!

    Hello Chuck,
What keyboard layout have you got set?
This behaviour is typical of many input methods; the yellow box shows that this is a "dead key", in this case generating a German umlaut, French tréma, or English dieresis. Only when another character is typed does the entry point move on, and if it is a legal combination (i.e. a vowel) the double dot symbol will sit above the vowel.
You should see the "input method" shown in the Status Menus (just to the left of the clock display). But f you don't, go to System Preferences and click on the Language & Text icon, then on the Input Sources tab. The keyboard layouts ("input methods") active are indicated by checkboxes, and if you click on the "Show input menu in menu bar" checkbox, you can switch between layouts easily. Unfortunately, your YouTube video only shows the top left-hand corner of your screen…
In any case, you can clear the checkboxes for all keyboard layouts you don't use, and the problem should go away. While you're there, try ticking the "Keyboard & Character Viewer" checkbox; this is a very useful facility!

  • Yellow-boxed screen tips

I would be much obliged if someone could tell me how to turn off the little yellow boxes of screen tips that appear when the cursor lands on particular objects on the screen.
    G4 (Quicksilver)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    those are called "tooltips".
their existence depends on the application that you
see them in. for example, it is simple to turn them
    off in, e.g., GraphicConverter, as there's a
preference checkbox just for that. for other apps,
such a simple solution might not exist.
also, for e.g. Safari, it may be the site's HTML
that's defining the tool-tips (using the ALT tag in
their site's code) so of course there's no way to
    disable those...
if you post more details on which apps you most
commonly see the tooltips in, more specific
    suggestions might be possible... cheers
Thank you for your response; now you've given me the actual name for those ghastly little devils that block, obscure, hide, and otherwise greatly annoy...
So, let's start with Mac Mail: How do I axe them from this application?
    Again, much obliged!

  • How can I reinstate the warning dialog box for entering a secure site?

I would like to reinstate the warning box that tells me when I am entering a secure site. The one that warns when I am leaving a secure site is working just fine. I probably unchecked the box for entering at one time or another but I can't find how to bring it back.

Looks that the Warning Messages dialog for those settings is gone from Tools > Options > Security
You can reset the related <b>security.warn_</b> prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
