Yosemite seems to have reverted my iCloud address back to an old one and won't let me change it. I currently have no access to iCloud

I installed Yosemite. This apparently has changed my iCloud address back to an old one which is no longer in use or a valid email address. It will not allow me access to change it. It even tells me my date of birth is wrong.
How do I get out of this fix?

Have you tried to sign out of iCloud and sign in with the new ID? If so, what happened?
