After installing oracle getting Microsoft "Send Error Report" & crashes app
After I installed Oracle 8i on windows XP, I am getting this error very frequently. As soon as I boot the computer I get the pop-up "Send Error Report" 4-5 times. Also I got this while using Client & Profits, MS Power Point and lots of other application. I get this pop-up and the application crashes. This is strange.
Has anybody faced this also? Can anybody help me with this? Is it because Oracle overwrites some of Microsoft's JVM and other things..
Plese Help!!!What edition you are running? PO 8i (8.1.7) had some issues with XP. Check for your edition's certification wrt Windows XP. 9i is certified with XP

HANA instal / data storage size check error
Hello
While installing HANA we had the following error (see first screenshot).
I believe that this incorrect because we have enough (150GB) data space (see second screenshot).
We are following the SAP HANA Installation Guide with SAP HANA Unified Installer - SAP HANA Appliance Software SPS 03 document.
I appreciate your help.
Cheers
TansuHi Tansu ,
It should be 4 times memory . I beleive you have a 512 GB memory so you need 1920 GB of disk space
Thanks,
Kiran . -

Oracle Enterprise Linux - Installing Oracle
Hi everyone,
I am trying to install Oracle on Oracle Enterprise Linux. I know, I know...it seems silly to install Oracle on Oracle enterprise Linux. What seems even more ridiculous is that the default install does not include everything you'd need to install Oracle. Here's the error...it's all over Google, but none of the solutions are working for me. Looks like I just need a package, but where do I get it?

Thanks in advance!There was a very similar question a few hours ago. You may want to check the answer:
Packages error while installing Oracle Management Agent.
Please always post the 4 digit version of Oracle you are trying to install and also the Oracle Linux version / distribution you are using.
Since you are using Oracle Linux you can use Oracle public yum. Details are here:
http://public-yum.oracle.com/
Then all you need to do as root or superuser is:
yum install libXp.i386
You may also want to install:
yum install oracle-validated
which will also setup the account, kernel parameters, etc.
Oracle Enterprise Linux is a clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which should explain why it does not include everything you'd need to install Oracle database. As of Oracle Linux 5.5 the product was renamed from OEL to OL and since 5.6 the default kernel is Oracle Linux UEK, which is Oracle customized. -

In short, I found the missing file (libc.so) and I tried to create a simbolic link to it in the path rpm was asking (/usr/lib). In my system I found 2 (32 and 64 version). I tried both, I mean to link /usr/lib/libc.so to 64 version (as you can see in the console). It did not work. Then I did rm and ln -s to the 32 version of it but same result.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
FelipeYou have probably compat-glibc installed but your are missing glibc-devel package, which contains object files for development using standard C libraries.
I'm haven't tried it under RHEL, but it should work to setup the Oracle public yum repository, which will allow you to use e.g. yum install oracle-validated. This method will automatically fetch dependent packages. More info at: http://public-yum.oracle.com/ -
Echec to install Oracle database 11gr2 in OEL5.6, OEL 5.5 and RHEL 5.6
I try to install Oracle 11gr2 in Linux with the traditionnal installation but after several installation test i am disappointed.
i make test on several distribution of Linux 64bits (OEL 5.6, OEL 5.5, RHEL 5.6) and SAME result : The installation of Oracle stop at 81 % .
I have installed the packages required with the command line : yum install oracle-validated
I thinks it's a problem of library but what library ?

Thanks and RegardsIf you will use yum instead of rpm, you will get out of this package-dependency-hell in one fell swoop. Oracle has a free public yum server. After properly configuring, just

Hi all,
Pre-installation:
I install the oracle with user "oracle" which belongs to "dba" group.
The environment variables are
PATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/dt/bin:/usr/platform/SUNW,Ultra-80/sbin:/opt/sun/bin:/opt/SUNWexplo/bin
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/openwin/lib
OPENWINHOME=/usr/openwin
ORACLE_OWNER=oracle
Also, i created /oracle folder for the installation of oracle

Error installing Oracle 10.2.0.4 on windows 2008 r2
Hi,
I am trying to installing SAP netweaver 7.01 server on oracle 1.2.0.4 in Windows 2008 64-bit system.
But when I try to install oracle I get this error.
Checking operating system version: must be 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.0
I did search on sdn at the pam matrix it should be possible. And according to OSS note 1326698 it is supported on Windows 2008.
Any help?
RezaHej Bhavik,
Are you Installing Enterprise Edition of Oracle 10.2.0.4 64bit ?
Yes I am installing ORACLE-10.2-rdbms 64bit.
Administrator user is in use for performing the Installation ?
Yes Administrator user is in use
I Check the PAM at http://service.sap.com/pam.
Also refer this SAP Note 1303262 - Oracle on Windows Server 2008 along with the Installation Guide.
Yes I did refer to note 1303262.
I did fundet Note 980426 - Oracle 10.2 Software installation on new operating systems from a link you give me.
There is 4 workaround but I do not know this can help me.
I make a copy of installation cdu2019es on my server and I try to install oracle from there.
I want to try workaround 3 from sso notes: I download RUNINSTALLER.ZIP file.
But I can not find RUNINSTALLER on my installation file.
It is first time I am installing Oracle bd.
Any help?

Q. regarding yum install - no package available
Configuring OL 5.6 under VMworkstation on my laptop.
Created vm and am going through pre-reqs for installing Oracle rdbms 11.2. As standard practice I configured to go to oracle's public yum server and installed 'oracle-validated'. Then I double-checked the required packages listed in the Installation Guide. Two of them still weren't installed, so I tried to go for them individually with 'yum install <pkg name>. The first, numactl-devel, installed fine. However ...
[root@lnxsrv01 tmp]# yum install compat-libstdc++
Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security
This system is not registered with ULN.
ULN support will be disabled.
Setting up Install Process
No package compat-libstdc++ available.
Nothing to doyet when I go to http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL5/6/base/i386/, I see 'compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61.i386.rpm' listed just fine.
my config - /etc/yum.repos.d/public-yum-el5-6.repo has enabled:
[ol5_u6_base]
name=Oracle Linux $releasever - U6 - $basearch - base
baseurl=http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL5/6/base/$basearch/
gpgkey=http://public-yum.oracle.com/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle-el5

Hi Ed,
You should use yum list (not repolist - my bad). Here it is:

Gokhan AtilInteresting. I got exactly the same results. So in the end, it looks like perhaps the required package is installed ... though the installation guide specified
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3

So ....
