Zen MicroPhoto: buttons fallen

I dropped my Zen MicroPhoto and the front fell out.
Just the thing where the screen protection and the buttons are.
The cable isn't damaged but it isn't fixed to the player anymore.
Because i dropped it warranty is void of course.
So I'd like to know if there's a way to fix it, and how much the repair would cost.
BTW: I li've in Austria so repair costs could differ from American ones.
Thanks.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto 8GB hangs

    Hello,
I have seen a lot of posts on the same subject here, but have not seen any resolution yet.
I am sure the story sounds familiar... hangs at "Creative" logo, I go into recovery mode, and run scan disk or format etc... They don't work. I have even left the player on "formatting" overnight until the battery drains and it never finishes, same goes for "Scanning".
I am on my 4th player now and am having the same issue again. This time the player is now out of warranty so I can't return it, and I am not paying money out of my own pocket to get this thing fixed. Please don't tell me this product is defecti've... I don't buy that excuse. And it isn't a corrupt file, because a reformat would fix that.
Once it hangs, my computer won't recognize it, so I can't even try to update the firmware or anything.
Any new updates or information on this issue? It is obviously a well documented problem...just google "Creative zen freezes" and see how any hits you get!
I am pretty disappointed with this player. I should have followed my gut instinct in the first place, and just bought an iPod. I spent a lot of money on this paper weight. Any help, advice, prayers,or donation$ (for a new iPod) would ge greatly appreciated!

Right you will need to download the latest firmware from this site.
Here is a hyperlink to where you can download the firmware:

You might have to put some details in.
Once you have downloaded the latest firmware just start the program up.
Plug in your Zen into the PC and then press the "Reload Firmware" button on your Zen.
You should see your computer screen pick it up.
Then you click on your PC to install firmware.
    That should be it.

  • My PC doesn't 'react' when I connect my Zen Microphoto

    Hello,
I'm Michel van Gelder and I have a problem with my Zen Microphoto. I am going to try to explain my problem in proper english, but english isn't my main language, so please forgive me if i make terrible mistakes or something.
    My problem is:
If I connect my Zen to my PC it says something like, what do you like to do, but when i click on an option it says: Media Device isn't connected. And also when I connect it, a symbol appears in the right corner, next to all the others, but when I try to do something with it's(with right mouse button or something) it disappears. The result is that, with everything i try, the PC says that my mp3 isn't connected. While 've installed all the software properly etc.
I have this MP3 for 2 years now, and I've never had this problem. Until 2 weeks ago, when we had to reinstall our computer. So my question actually was: Is there something wrong with my Zen or with my PC. And, what can I do about it's
I hope someone knows the answers to my questions. Thank you very much

  • Just got my white Zen MicroPhoto (warning: large pi

I finally got my white Zen MicroPhoto in from Singapore yesterday (I'm in the USA).
Overall I am very impressed and so far, the only thing that I have found that I'm not really fond of is the size/shape of the screen. It is definitely more of a square than a rectangle, which leads to more of the song info being cut off as opposed to the regular Zen Micro.
The sides and back (battery cover) are now made out of annodized metal instead of plastic. And the hold button, usb port, and headphone jack all seem a lot more sturdy, but at this point in time I'm not willing to do any further testing on that (especially the headphone jack) for obvious reasons.
Also, there is a piece of paper in the box that says the PlaysForSure feature will be available soon via a firmware download.
Feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
    Cheers, Alex

Yup, I had a 5gb Zen Micro, one of the first ones that came out (and I didn't start having the headphone jack problem with mine until about 0 months after owning it). I cannot notice a difference between the sound quality but I will say the sound quality is greatly affected by which headphones you are using. When switching between the stock head phones and a pair of iPod Headphones, the iPod headphones sounded slightly better but the volume was much lower. I've honestly never listened to any other current MP3 players so I can't make a good comparison there, but I will say there is little if no difference in sound quality between the Zen Micro and the Zen MicroPhoto. I do not find the OLED screen to be dim at all, it's bright enough to be read in almost any condition I've used it in so far. The screen looks very nice, it's not anything spectacular but it shows photos quite nicely, minus the fact that the screen is a little square. I would probably rate it around an 8 but I'm going to take a look at my friends iPod Photo on Monday and see if i can compare.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Not Detec

    Hello all,
I bought a Creative Zen Microphoto yesterday and when I try and plug it in to my USB port nothing happens. I've tried holding the on/off button, I've tried it when it's on. I've tried all of my USB Ports. I've tried it on two different computers.
My computers are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. I've disabled Norton while trying all of the above. Before plugging my mp3 player in I installed all the software that come on the CD.
    Just to clarify this:
The Microphoto won't charge, be detected, etc while in the USB port. It runs fine off my PC ( plays the pre-installed songs, etc ) but as I cannot plug it in to my PC to charge it, add, songs, etc I cannot add my own songs.
Windows doesn't even pop up saying new hardware has been detected, or a USB device has been detected. It just remains how it was before I plugged the device in to my PC.
My computer doesn't show it in removalable devices, nor in Windows Media Player 0.
    Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.Message Edited by Kemik on 07-3-2006 05:3 AM

Try this, go into the Control Panel and click Add/Remove Hardware. Just click next and see if it detects newly added hardware.

  • My Zen MicroPhoto goes straight to Recovery Mode and I dont know what to

Hey, I need help figuring out why does my Zen MicroPhoto goes into recovery mode now by itself. I had difficulties with the same issue with a Zen Micro. My Zen MicroPhoto had issues in the past where it would spontaniously restart and rebuild the library. I would one second listen to music on the bus and sit down slowly, then the music cuts and the zen microphoto resets itself. Can I get some help here?! I really dont want to resort to sending it out for repairs unless its a last resort.

  • Zen MicroPhoto or Micro stuck in Recovery Mode? Can't update firmware? Try this

I got these instructions from here:
    http://blog.opsan.com/archi've/2005/09/3/472.aspx
This is the only thing that worked for me to get my broken Zen MicroPhoto up and running again. It was stuck in Recovery Mode and my XP SP2/WMP laptop wouldn't recognize when trying to load firmware or in Creative Media Explorer or WMP.
To Fix any problems with broken firmware form attempted "playsforsure"
firmware updates etc where your pc finds it as a 20mb dri've and it sits
in recovery mode and does bugger all:
    1. Uninstall all creative software & drivers
    2. Uninstall Media Player and Media Player runtime (will require a
reboot for each thing). This is done by going to add/remove programs and
uninstalling (this will put your pc back to wmp0).
    3. Re-install the Zen Driver from the creative website and reboot (I just reloaded Media Explorer using my ZMP install CD).
    4, Plug Zen in.
5, Make sure you have the firmware update ready, run it but don't click
the language bit yet), leave the mouse hovering over your language
selection. (for ZMP, just start firmware exe file, there is no language selection. You can get the firmware update from Creative's site, go to SUPPORT and then DOWNLOADS).
    6. On the Zen- select "reload OS" (on ZMP I believe it is Erase or Reload Firmware, something like that, don't have it in front of me).
    7. As soon as it flashes up "reload new firmware now via USB" click the
    language button
    8. Now the pc should find it and allow you to re-load the
firmware. (it may take a few attempts)
    9. Once complete, click close and restart the pc. Everything should now
    be fine.
    0. Once all is working, you can re-install WMP and it will work fine.
    I hope this helps somebody.

  • Zen microphoto crashing

i have recently purchase a titanium(grey) zen microphoto i honestly have to say that i love this product... however i have been encountering many problems w/ it freezing. this is the second microphoto i have purchase because i hoped that the second one would not act the same way, i was wrong. i did some research on how to reboot but in the directions it stated "turn the mp3 player off" which did not help because the power button didnt work (this is when the microphoto froze) and i was affraid to pull out the battery while it was on because thats how my first microphoto broke in the first place. if any one knows about this problem and have experience fixing it, i will be very grateful!
-thank you for sparing your important time reading the message

Recently my ZMP also froze when skipping songs and nothing works so i just removed and put the battery back. Then i went recovery mode and did disk cleaning twice but still the player froze the the "Creative' screen. So i just left removed and put the battery back again.
After work i turned my player on and to my amazement, it's back to normal!

  • Creative zen microphoto + NETLIBRARY serv

I use NetLlibrary to download audiobooks from home. While I am able to download and transfer most of these audiobooks to my MP3 player (or whatever 8GB Zen Microphoto is considered), I am unable to transfer some of the titles even though they will play on the computer under Windows media player. This happens with about in 4 of the titles I download. I am not sure if the problem is the player, something about my firewall, etc. or if it is something in Widows media player, or even possibly something with the actual downloaded file itself. Anybody who wants to experiment with? their results, my 3 recent downloads are all Stephen King's Dark Tower series, books 5, 6, and 7Wolves of the Calla- would not transferSong of Susannah-transferredThe Dark Tower-will not transfer?I know there is some potential problems about having to download the license as the files are protected, but I figure if they play on the computer, the license would have downloaded ok. About the only thing worse than having to listen while at the computer would be buying the audiobook and trying to load the 6-23 CDs each book comes on, uploading it to the computer and trying to get the book to play in order. That is what I did with books 2, 3, and 4. Maybe somebody knows an easier way to accomplish that.... Thanks!

taylor_clc,Happy to hear the Real Player worked for you. My husband has been listening to that same Stephen King audiobook series and loves it. ?I am the one who has had to download all those individual cd discs to my computer, in the past. What a pain!? I was happy to?later find that NetLibrary carried several of that series. As for bookmarking, on a couple of my smaller Creative Players, I just pause the book and then turn off the player, so that I can start back up where I left off later. I use the Zen Nano Plus (52MB and GB) and the N200 52MB?specifically for my audiobooks, as my Zen Micro 5GB Player with version 2xxxx firmware won't let me listen after the 2 day checkout period expires. These smaller players allow me to listen as long as it takes without expiring, and I can fast forward?and backwards?without problems? My current audiobook is a 20+ hour book (289MB)?titled The Touch by Colleen McCullough.
I could never get through it in the 2 day checkout period for NetLibrary. The prices have fallen to $69.99 US?at Amazon.com and Creative for a GB Creative Player.
These small players are ideal for audiobooks. So small and very sturdy and a?drop to the floor won't kill the flash dri've.?Happy Reading!luvmyrescuedogs?

Is there a specific option i should choose to solve this firmware problem?[[ and what exactly is firmware? Sorry i am not really familiar with this ]]
Firmware is like Windows in your computer- it basically 'runs' your .mp3 player.
First select Clean Up and let it complete. It should only take a few moments. Then select Reboot.
    Does that fix the problem?
If not, select Format, allow it to complete. Select Reboot.
    Does that fix the problem?
If neither of those work, select Reload Firmware and reboot.
    Requirements:
? Microsoft? Windows? XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP (Service Pack or later) or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
? Windows Media? Player 0 or later
    Notes:
    ? To install this firmware
. Download the ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe file into your local hard disk.
    2. Connect your player to your computer.
    3. Double-click the firmware file and follow the instructions on the screen.
If you still have troubles, try this:
Do a Clean Boot on your computer.
    Once your computer has re-booted:
? Connect the MP3 player to a USB port on the back of the PC.
? Click Download Now next to the firmware upgrade-> Agree-> Save-> Save to Desktop
? When the file download shows Download Complete, click Run
? Click the Upgrade button to start the Firmware installation
? When the firmware upgrade shows Firmware upgrade completed, click Close
    Note:
? If the firmware update could not detect the player being connected, unplug the player and plug it in again.
? Do not disconnect the player once the firmware update is in progress.
? When the firmware update is complete, the player will start charging automatically. It will display a charging icon, and the blue power LED will start blinking.

  • Zen Microphoto - Help Me, people

    Hi all.
My daughter bought a new Zen Microphoto 2 days ago.
It worked fine from setup, loads of music and picture files were transferred to it, BUT
it seems to have failed to recharge, and has twice defaulted to the reboot/reformat/etc screen.
If I move the button to "on" it powers up long enough to see said screen, but not long enough to do anything with it.
    Any ideas ?
If no one can think of what might be going wrong, can you think of a way of downloading the songs to a "safe" dri've, or making absolutly sure that the battery is charging ?
I have 24 hours to sort this out - cos then she goes away on camp - or not, if her Zen isn't working, apparantly ...
