Zero Supress

Hi,
In one of the script form layouts i need to print the multiplication of two values. as follows.
Expected : 3 * 100,00 = 300,00
But it is coming as
3 * 100,00 = 300.000,00
How to print the nuber as expected in the form.
Quick help in the reg is much appreciated.

Hi Anand,
In this i have to calculate two values.. one is of Quantity and the other one is Price.
The actual values are while debugging i found them as
3.000(Qty) * 100.00(Currency) and it is givin and output of 300.000,00 where as the required output is 300,00.

With th ehelp of Substring standard function you can achieve that, if you know the exact number or length.
Elese it is prefer to write a Java User Defined function to achieve the same.
Just check with FormatNum inbuilt functions.
This thread discusses about padding zeros, instead of this, you need to substring it..

Query Designer Zero Supression in formula

Hi all,
I have already supressed all ZEROS in the Query. However I am calculating an amount using an exchange rate and where ever there is no exchange rate i am getting ZEROS. How can I supress these zeros at the formula level?

Hi Dave,
I dont think there will be zero suppression in Formula level.
1. You shall change the Zero suppression to Active in Query Properties. (apply to Row or column accordingly),
2. Else you shall create a condition on that Amount field. Condition shall be "Amount NE 0". This will suppress all the records which are having that amount as zero.

Display previous month value in report

Hi,
I have a requirement to display the previous month amounts on monthly basis. here is the example.
In the Cube I have data like this:
Customer Month Amount
C1 Jan 2004 $500
C1 Feb 2004 $600
C1 March 2004 $1000
I want to display in Report with another key figure to show the difference between current month and previous month. Report should look like:
Customer Month Amount Prev_Month_Amount Diff.
C1 Jan 2004 $500 0 $500
C1 Feb 2004 $600 $500 $100
C1 Mar 2004 $1000 $600 $400
I have tried using restricted key figures.but it is showing the same amount in prev. moth amount colunm till feb 2004. anyone had similar req. please advise me.

Hi,
I can only think about a 2 structure approach with cell calculations.
This will result in a static report with 12 rows for each customer. Then you would need to use the new feature of zero supression, to hide those month where no data exists.

How to get Two empty columns in a report, i have taken a formula and i have given '=0' in the formula box after executing the query that two columns containing zero's, but i don't want zero's, i want to display empty columns.

also select Supress Zeros from the drop down.

Needs to remove Balnk spaces in the report next to data

Dear SDN's,
Report is displaying as below,my end user wants to remove blank spaces which has no data.
Ex: In C1 sales is 10,but profit is blank.so profit wont be display for C1.Similar for C2 sales wont be displayed & profit shoud display.
Customer      Sales      Profit
C1     10
C2          15
C3     20
We can do zero supression when we have '0' in the blank space.but we have 'Blank' not '0'.
We can remove the whole column when the whole column is 'Blank'.But is there a way if we want to not see the blank spaces.

To display Blank as Zeros,
The Fourth Value which u hve given i.e Zero as default text ,select this and in the below Field .e Show Zero ,type there as 0(ZERO).
Also alternate could be ,try this
Create a CKF for each KF with formula KF Not Equal to*0
OR
KF EQ 0*KF.
I am not suire on the Hiding of KF individually with Zeros Values.

Quarter variable in Bex reports

The report need to run for the selected quarter. The time char I am using is 0FISCPER3
The Q1 will be Period 1, 2,3 totals.
Q2 will be Period 1 to 6
Q3 will be period 1 to 9
Q4 will be period 1 to 12.
The reqiuired quarter will be selected at the time of execution. that is Q1 or Q2 etc.
How to enable the quarters in the reports.

with hierarchy that solution seems to be the correct one...
so that u can create hierarchy node variables and u can define hierarchies like quarter1,2,3,4
but if ur users can compromise i have alternate solution...
lets say u want to display the net amount keyfigure spent for chars... product 1 and 2
and u want the net amount spent for different quarters
what ur user has to do is to enter the quarter values each time.....
what i mean is if they can enter the period range as
1/2006-6/2006....
like this.. if they can... then it will be easy for u ....
wat u can do is
in columns lets say u have key figure NET AMOUNT
hit net amount right click and hit edit
in new dialog box bring in 0fiscper3 from time to right section
then u can restrict the 0fiscper3 and say restrict
in restrict dialog box.... u can restrict it with value range period1 to period 3
hit okey
now at the end change the description from net amount to QUARTER 1
secondly copy this quarter1 and paste it 3 times.
now edit each quarter1 other than 1st
change description to quarter 2
hit edit and then change the restriction from period 1- period 3 to
period 1 -- period 6
in quarter 3 change it to period 9
in quarter 4 change it to period 12
now u can use sap exit as always u r going to use period1 and its gonna remain same.....
change query properties and apply ZERO SUPRESSION TO ROWS AND COLUMNS......
this way ur user has to enter only the ending period and then it will display different quarters....

Planning - Memory Issue. Help!

We are using planning and recently added approx 100 new members and some new webforms. Suddenly in planning, I cannot delete or move a member. It looks as though its processing but then nothing happens. Our internal IT checks the memory settings and sees a giant spike in CPU usage. We had this problem a year ago and Oracle recommended we update our Java Heap Settings from 1024 to 1536 which at the time resolved our issues. We are running planning on Windows 32bit.
Now we are being told that 1536 is too high and to set it to 1024. Our develompent server has not seen this memory issue so we put their new recommendations in place in development and development no longer works. I put the Heapsize back to 1536 in development and it works. For some reason production does not.
Anyone have any ideas about the Java Heapsize settings or any other recommendations?

I agree with JG, its time to start moving towards a 64Bit OS. I would urge you to run parallel with a 63bit server, so that when your 32 bit environment starts buckling under the added pressure the newer requirments are putting on your system, you have a fail over at least.
With regard to 1536 being to high, I would +1 that too. The problem is the JVM really likes a chunk of contiguous memory, and Windows likes to eat up a chunk of memory slap dab in the middle of things - making ~1200 about the upper limit for a 32Bit JVM (perhaps by design, and I'm assuming windows because they probably wouldn't tell you to back off the heap size in U/LiNIX)
Another way to look at this is to see if you can break out some of the more complex web forms into simpler ones. Also make sure you don't have any member functions that pretty much return the better part of a dimension(e.g. @iDescendants(Entity)) only to be shrunk back to a useable size using zero supression.

Multiple Hierarchies display in BW report

Hi All,
I am having issue regarding multiple hierarchies display in BW report, not all levels are displayed, but i can see them in their respective hierarchy maintenance.
i have a report like project definition hierarchy then WBS hierarchy then followed by Order info object into rows and then some KFs in colums.
when i drill down project definition hierarchy i coudn't able to see some middle nodes, but few at the bottom which have orders in next WBS hierarchies. and same as in WBS hierarchy i can see ony few WBS which have orders.
But i want to display all project definition nodes and WBS hierarchy nodes. even though there are no ordes for WBS elements.
there are no zero supressions neither in Hierarchy attributes nor in KF structures.
what could be the problem, how can i resolve it. I have been searching in SDN but couldnt find suitable solutions. Please let me know the earliest.

Hi,
The problem that you have explained generally comes because of two problems.
1. If you do check for zero suppression
2. You don't go for full expansion level of heirarchy.
Any way you mentioned first case is not applicable for you, check for second case. Expand heirarchy upto maximum level. Your problem will be resolved.

the key figure we have created one key figure per Release. As the release goes forward in future(for e.g. 2006.09) then we have to add additional key figure Can you find out a way, where the query automatically recognizes the release adds it part of the data(key figure)

Create key figures for every month from 2006001 to 2006012(By Offset or what ever).
So this will bring in the data for the months where data is avaliabe. And for the blanks ones you can see the whole column blank.
So now in the query right click on the structure in the columsn and check the option "Also Use Zero Supression for Structure Elements".
This option will eliminate those columns that were blank.

We recently went from BPC 7.0M SP05 to BPC 7.0M SP07 Patch 2. The upgrade went smooth overall with nothing out of the ordinary. We did notice a slight difference in EVDRE zero supression - a few lines that could be supressed were not. We also went from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 and Excel 2003 to Excel 2007 as a part of it. Those upgrades were bigger than the true BPC portion.
Just make sure you practice the upgrade and test your key processes thoroughly in a separate environment. The pure BPC upgrade should take no longer than half a day.

How to Supress ZEROS in Bex Report

I have requirement to supress zeros in rows of AR Report in Bex Analyzer.IS it possible to Supress zeros in BEx analyzer itslef or i have to suppress in Query designer.
I checked so many forums but i am not sure whether my configuration allows me to do it or not

Hi,
Jsut open your query designer and select the query in which you put the changes.
now on top there will be an icon for query properites just select that and on right hand side panel select the tab rows/column
and in that there will be an option supress zeros select active all values =0
and then effect on rows.

Supressing Leading Zero's

My database has a field that has a total of 30 characters.
Depending on the data that was entered there could be a large number of leading zero's that is displayed within that field. How do you supress the leading zero's for that field when the number of leading zero's could fluctuate?
In addition to that, they are also using Bar Code Scanning on that same field. How can you suppress the Leading zero information on the same field once it has been converted to Bar Code?

I dont think cstr(val(x)) will work if the value is "001000000000000000005147002589" as val(x) will convert it to a number and due to the number of digits, CR will convert it to scientific notation, at least CR XI converts.
One possible solution would be to loop through the digits and extract the data by eliminating the leading zeros. For example:
stringvar x := "001000000000000000005147002589";
// Example, you don't need this in your formula
numbervar i;
for i := 1 to length(x) do
if x NOT EQUAL TO '0' then exit for
// use the not equal sign (greater than and less than symbols)
x[i to length(x)];
You can use this formula for both display and bar code purposes by replacing X with the db field.

How to supress Zero in NUMC data type which contains some values as Char.

Hello Friends,
Some custom fields have been added in table BUT000 ,
out of which one field has data type as NUMC..
When i see some of the entries in the that field, it has values like '0000000000000000ENT'.
I want to supress Leading zeros of that.
i tried using
1 ) FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT &
          CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT .
2 ) Also tried coding like this:
data:var1 type ZBU_00LV36AT,           "this field has data type NUMC of length 40
       var2(40) type N.
var1 ='00000000ENTRY'.
VAR2 = VAR1.
SHIFT VAR2 LEFT DELETING LEADING '0'.
Nothing works ...gives output as blank.
Is there any solution for it....
