  • SMTP invalid certificate problem

I've been sending and receiving mail via my ISP with no problems, with IMAP and SMTP, with SSL. Then last week I started getting errors while sending (but not fetching):
    Secure Connection Failed
The certificate for "SMTP:[email protected]" may not be valid.
    Cancel / Continue
I choose Cancel, not wanting to send in the clear. I asked my ISP if something changed regarding their certificate, and they said that indeed it had expired and they have a new one. I see that's the case when looking at page info on an iMac desktop browser on the https webmail page- the current certificate started last week.
The problem is that my (1st generation) iPhone doesn't seem to want to upgrade to the new one. I've tried turning off, then back on, SSL for both SMTP and IMAP in the account's mail settings, hoping it would get the new one, to no avail.
This doesn't seem to be a very unusual situation- a mail host's certificate expires and a new one goes into effect, so I'm surprised that I haven't been able to find any solution after searching online. I've run the desktop Keychain
app, but don't even see the certificate for my ISP, FWIW. I ran the iPhone Configuration Utility as well, but don't immediately see any way to purge the old cert.
Before trying a Restore on the phone, or just deleting the mail account and readding it, I wanted to post for a basic solution. Any suggestions appreciated. 1st generation iPhone, up-to-date with version 2.2.

Details for future reference by anyone with similar problems.
I'd seen mention of mailing a certificate to yourself as an attachment, then opening it in Mail and it will then prompt you to install. To get the cert, from a desktop I did
    $ openssl s_client -connect address.of.my.isp.com:587 -starttls smtp
This output the connection information as openssl connects, including the certificate. I saved it as foo.cert and mailed it, but Mail didn't give me an option to open it- it just showed an icon with the filename when I opened the message.
I then saw mention elsewhere where a .cer extension was used, so I renamed it foo.cer, mailed it, and now Mail let me click on it. It opened a certificate install app (screenshots of the same screen can be seen at the URL below). Choosing Install resulted in a message that the authenticity of "address.of.my.isp.com" cannot be verified. I take that to be because it's self-signed, since when I'd run openssl above, one line in the output was "self signed certificate in certificate chain".
Choosing Install Now resulted in a message that the root certificate couldn't be installed, with no further explanation. I then found the page at the URL below, which says that that means the certificate has previously been installed.

  • I am getting an invalid certificate notice when going to one web site only, that formerly was not a problem. Happens with Safari and Google Chrome. Any ideas?

I am getting an invalid certificate notice when going to only one web site, that previously was OK. Happens with both Safari and Google Chrome. Would emptying the system cache fix the problem?

  • Problems with Solaris Web Console on Solaris 10 x86

    I recently installed Solaris 10 x86 (10/08 release) on a Sun x4450.
I have installed the Jan 14, 2009 patch cluster.
I was having some problems connecting to the Web Console to do some ZFS administration. That's when I installed the patch cluster.
After the patch cluster install I couldn't connect at all. This problem was resolved here: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5249136
Now when I login to the Web Console I get a message that says:
"+No application is registered with this Sun Java(TM) Web Console, or you have no rights to use any applications that are registered. See your system administrator for assistance.+"
I'm logging in as root, so it shouldn't be a rights issue.

Quick Solution to the problem you are facing
How to configure ZFS Webconsole Administration
    run this command
    wcadmin deploy -a zfs -z zfs /usr/share/webconsole/webapps/zfs
you should be able to see & Manage ZFS in Applications area of webconsole.
    Enjoy ! Cheers

  • How do I change the default certificate in Java Web Console?

I have a 3rd party issued server keystore & truststore ready to go in both jks and p12 file formats. I wish to use this in the Sun Java Web Console instead of the self signed certificate. I cannot find any documentation as to changing the certificate. I did find commands to change the keystore and truststore passwords, but I want to change the entire certificate.
I tried manually messing with the /var/webconsole/domains/console/conf/server.xml configuration file but realized it was more complex than that. Is there a documented procedure for changing the default certifcate?
    Thanks

Siri will use the default calendar specified in the Mail, Contacts, Calendars setting.
Go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars, then scroll down, and change the default in the Calendars section to your the one you prefer.
    hope this helps.

  • OIM 11G- Web Console- Problem with "Export Deployment Manager File"

    Experts,
I am using gogle chrome browser on oim11g setup.
I was able to Import/Export the objects using Import/Export Deployment Manager File.
The reason why I opted for chrome is that I was unable to connect to login to the web console, it was just asking for userid and password and after some time, the browser(Internet Explorer 7) hangs on.
And with FireFox 5.0.1, it is the same thing both import and export deployment manager file windows opens as soon as I click and they just close after 2-3 seconds.
The problem now is after updating the java to "Version 6 Update 26 ", the Export Deployment Manager File stopped working. The window pop-ups and closes in 2 seconds.
But Import Deployment Manager File is working fine with out any problems.
The pop - up blocker is not enabled.
And I am sure that it was working fine earlier with chrome before the java update. When I remove the updated java version, chrome is asking to download the latest java version.
Any suggestions, that helps to work with chrome or firefox or IE?

    Venu,
I have never had any luck getting anything after Version 6 update 23 to export properly. I would remove your updated Java and restore to a previous version of Java.

Thanks Tim for the info, and thank you all too.
The issue here is not only if Essbase is fully supported or not by the new java version (or the other way around).  A patch later on will solve the compatibility problem.
But the major problems here are two:
    1. Oracle publishes java versions prematurely without warning the public for the compatibility issues, or at least to say that "we haven't checked everything yet".
    2. The end users get pop ups (unless disabled) that their (older) java version is not secure anymore. That scares the users and drives them to update their JRE or JDK prematurely without telling that to anyone.
    Cheers

  • Problem in launching sunMC 4.0 Web console

Does anybody have problem in launching sunMC 4.0 web console from a browser?
I have installed sunMC 4.0 on a Solaris 10 upgrade server.
When I type the URL of the sunMC 4.0 server with the default port 8080 I gets the welcome page giving me two options:
    - Launch Web Console

    - Launch Java Console
None of the options works for me.
Clicking on "Launch Web Console" ends with error page saying "Unable to Connect". Get the same error regardless of browser: Firefox or IE.

  • Sun Java Web Console certificate based authentication ?

I'd like the Web Console to authenticate users thanks to their (x509) certificate. The certificate would be stored on the client side,
    in the browser's certificate store.
I read that the console could use PAM, but the only PAM pkcs#11 module I found requires a smart card reader on the console host,
while I'd like to be able to use the user's certificate in the browser, thus possibly on a remote host.
    Any idea ?

    Make sure JAVA_HOME is set (+echo $JAVA_HOME+)
BTW, Sun Java Web Console is not the same thing as Sun Management Center

  • Problem in Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0 Web Console

    Hi,
I did OIM Upgradation from OIM 9.0.3.1 to 9.1.0.
    The Upgradation is completed.
In upgraded version(OIM910)of Web Console,i have some new options in Resource Management and Deployment Management.
When i click those options,it shows "Page cannot Found" error.
Can u please tell me,where this pages will exists or do i need some other customizations to get these things.
Please help me to resolve it.
    Thanks,
    Saranya.

Well what is the error which you get while doing Trusted Recon. If its some connection error then confirm that you have required connection jar files placed in the ThirdParty folder of OIM.
I am not very sure but I thing these would be the jar files required:
    Oracle 8i - classes12.jar
    Oracle 10g - ojdbc.jar
so make sure you have right jar files.
    Thanks

I Have a problem with my hotmail Web account Using OS X 10.6.4 Safari 5.0 when I Try adding another email account to my hotmail account where it says: Add an e-mail account on the left side pane of hotmail. when I Click on Add an e-mail account I Get the error message for a Certificate problem: safari cannot verify the identity of the website ¨col0-sec.mail.live.com¨ I Am using OS X 10.6.4 and Safari 5.0. I Have tried using a earlier version of safari but the same problem occurred so I Tried using Google Chrome (most recent) and Opera Browsers for MAC and with no luck, the exact same problem. so I Tried adding an email account using a windows xp machine, it had no problem adding an email account so the problem seems to be OS X problem. It seems to be something wrong with the certificate for validation on the Microsoft website I Think.I Can send a screen shot of the entire message that popped up for the invalid certificate if needed to fix this problem.

Thought of something else you might try.
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select "My Certificates" or on the left.
If you see a Microsoft/Hotmail certificate, double click that. Click the gray disclosure triangle so
it faces down. Click the pop up menu next to: When using this certificate and set it to: Always Trust.
Relaunch Safari and try logging into your Hotmail account.
    Carolyn
