Zoom factor less than 1 = distortions

I am reading live image data from a firewire camera and displaying using the picture display. I change binning on my camera, therefor the resolution changes. I want to programmaticlly scale the image to a set picture display size so that when the resolution changes, the image fits entirely in my display. I have scaled the zoom factor property of my picture display by the resolution/display size and am getting bad results...
When the zoom factor becomes less than 1 (the image is larger than the display), the image shows horrible noise, it's like there's bad decimation or something going on, my image is gray-scale and the spots and distortions are unacceptable. Is there a better way I can scale image for my picture display? I have also played around displaying my image as an array in the intensity graph. Can anyone describe the advantages/disadvantages between using the picture display and the intensity graph. I need to display live video from imaq image data type. I do not have the vision toolbox.

  • Zoom to less than 100%?

I have trouble believing that this is impossible, but I can't figure out how to do it. Is there any way to zoom an image to less than 100% while editing? The loupe can be set to 50%, but that doesn't let me retouch the image while it's on, unless there's some method to do that that I haven't found either. And that still wouldn't let me edit at, say 25%, which I occasionally want to do, since some of my images are in the 20+ megapixel range.

I am using photos with only 10mp but I guessing that you are not seeing the whole photo, the same as if you were looking at the 10mp photo. Please correct me if I assume wrong.
When I need to edit the whole photo I just click "Z" to see/preview the whole picture and "Z" again to see/preview actual size. There is also a button at the bottom right hand corner to do the same job.
Another thing that may help is clicking Preferences~Previews and then adjust limit preview size.

  • CS4 impage display problem at zooms less than 200%

I upgraded from CS1 to CS4 yesterday and immediately encountered a problem with the way Photoshop (not Bridge) displays images to the monitor. At zooms of less than 200%, the image that appears is divided into squares in which the correct picture is displayed below each square's diagonal and solid vertical lines of color are displayed above the diagonal. I've checked jpeg, tiff, and psd files. At 200% or higher, everything is fine. This problem does not happened in CS1.
Has anyone seen this problem before?
    Dell XPS 420
    ATI Radeon HD 2600XT
(I checked and the driver is up to date)

Open GL takes a lot of video horsepower, but even high end video cards don't always work perfectly. There may be more than one thing going there. Adobe is still working on problem. But if you have low end card it will probably never work as PS intended.
Read the posts on lag problems and which cards are recommended to work with CS4.

  • ACR6 Sharpening/NR visibility at less than 100% zoom

I am seeing that ACR in CS5 now shows sharpening and noise reduction at less than 100% zoom.  Thanks for that Adobe (even though we know it's not "accurate" in the strictest sense).
Now that we have that I am curious about the interpolation method used by ACR for screen display/zoom.  Is it the old PS way (the one where 25% and 50% were considered to be "better" at judging sharpness), the newer interpolation that started with PS CS4, or something entirely different?
Also, this is more of a Bridge question but I have seen at least once so far where Bridge showed me sharpening applied in ACR6 in the Bridge preview but it seems a little quirky in that it doesn't always show.  Once it showed me NR but not sharpening.  Is this perhaps a little buggy still or is there a special combination of the Bridge preview preferences that are needed to make it work?  I have tried various combinations of the "monitor-sized previews", "100% previews", etc. and have tried to be diligent about purging the Bridge cache between changes but I can't seem to get it to display sharpening consistently in the normal preview (the loupe and full-screen at 100% or greater DO show sharpening and NR).
    Thanks.

  • How to make stills duration less than 00:00:00:01 ?

    Hi,
This may seem an odd request, but I have a sequence of several stills of a propeller blade on a model, sort of time lapse, move and photo etc, which when played together rotates the prop. They are currently set to 00:00:00:01 and play loop sees a very slow rotation. I thus need to make them even less than that duration. Is that possible and how is it done ? They currently form the project. R/click duration and altering 01 to 001 doesnt work, the last two numbers being frame number and 25fps is the project value.
Perhaps I need to make the project more than 25fps, so that 00:00:00:01 which means 1 frame I presume, will be seen as far less of a second than 1/25th ? How do I set project to a higher fps if this is the solution ?   Then would I save out or export the finished film as a 25fps clip to use elsewhere ?
I also found it silly that I had to right click on each stills clip in timelie and choose duration. I tried selecting all of them and r/click duration but duration was greyed out. If I had a lot there, surely there must be a way of making all their durations the same amount at once ?
I am unable to zoom the timeline to drag their size less.
    Envirographics

    Hi,
    Thanks for the sugestions.
I have not yet transferred a Sequence, I have created a second sequence and dragged it out as a floating window, then dragged a selection box across my stills and dragged them over to it, but no doubt this isnt the way to make them all a combined duration of say 1 frame. They still have separate properties. How is it done such that I can give them as you say one duration for the entire lot.
AE no doubt is After Effects. another purchase. Working on it !

SSRS 2008 R2 is extremely slow.  The query runs in less than a second in the dataset designer but if you try to view the report it takes over 10 minutes.  I have read this is a bug in SSRS 2008 R2.  We installed the most recent patches and
service packs.  Nothing we've done so far has fixed it and I see that I'm not the only person with this problem.  However I don't see any answers either.

    Hi Kim Sharp,
According to your description that when you view the report it is extremely slow in SSRS 2008 R2 but it is very fast when execute the query in dataset designer, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can‘t reproduce the issue. Obviously, it is the performance issue, rendering performance can be affected by a combination of factors that include hardware, number of concurrent users accessing reports, the amount
of data in a report, design of the report, and output format. If you have parameters in your report which contains many values in the list, the bad performance as you mentioned is an known issue on 2008 R2 and already have the hotfix:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2276203
Any issue after applying the update, I recommend you that submit a feedback at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/
If you don’t have, you can do some action to improve the performance when designing the report. Because how you create and update reports affects how fast the report renders.
Actually, the Report Server ExecutionLog2  view contains reports performance data. You could make use of below query to see where the report processing time is being spent:
After you determine whether the delay time is in data retrieval, report processing, or report rendering:
    use ReportServer
    SELECT TOP 10 ReportPath,parameters,
TimeDataRetrieval + TimeProcessing + TimeRendering as [total time],
    TimeDataRetrieval, TimeProcessing, TimeRendering,
    ByteCount, [RowCount],Source, AdditionalInfo
    FROM ExecutionLog2
    ORDER BY Timestart DESC
Use below methods to help troubleshoot issues according to the above query result :

  • Pan an image by less than 1 pixel/ frame

    Hi,
is there a common way to pan an image by less than 1 pixel/ frame (maybe by manipulating bitmaps or something?).
I need to pan over an image very slowly, but with a smooth motion.
    thanks
    jq

You can set x and y to non-integers, but you will likely see distortion as it tries to render on half-pixels.  Most folks will not see single pixel movement as steppy.

  • V570 LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD: Mainboard replaced twice, overheating, broken HDMI. And that's typical!

Is this a lemon? How should Lenovo handle this?
Hello. From very beginning, shortly after purchase, V570 overheated (80-90 degrees Celsius, with screen shots of core temps as proof). Problem went on for several months, burning leg at one point. I called tech support, no call back and no repair scheduled. Kept notes, dates and times of all contact.
I had purchased next day on-site repair service for three years. So when no one called back about problem after ten days, I called back and raised a little pleasant ruckus. Got some action.
On-site tech installed more powerful fan. Helped out with high temps. Tech recommended motherboard to be replaced, since it was probably fried from overheating.
Then, the HDMI port no longer worked. Lenovo took more than a week on this repair. Parts were sent to a technician who was no longer in business, so parts were in Fed Ex limbo. I spent 10 hours on phone (5 hours to the Philippines) trying to straighten out the mess.
Problem escalated. No one from North Carolina or Texas ever calls back. No. Call. Back.
You can imagine my trust factor with Lenovo is zero now.
New mainboard installed. Works fine. Tech leaves. Two hours later, screen is completely black. Nothing. Dead darkness dead dead. Cannot power on. No tricks with power button, recovery button or anything else working.
Called support again about dead machine. Sending out another mainboard for another repair. I do research and realized this is the bad bad bad motherboard that *everyone* here is complaining about. Lots of other dead black screens from it. So, again another two hours on the phone.
Then, I call tech in Philippines back, and say, hey, this is the mainboard that is riddled with problems -- I really do not want to go through this again. They recommend another mainboard, but it's a slower one -- an i5 dual core instead of quad core.
At this point, we're three or four mainboards in, in terms of repairs that have happened and parts coming, on a machine less than a year old.
At what point does Lenovo make the financial or business decision that the best option is to replace the machine rather than paying for four motherboards and on-site repairs?
And, BTW, when I pay hundreds of dollars for a 3-year on-site next-business-day repairs, I mean ON-SITE, NEXT BUSINESS DAY. That's what my contract says, in writing -- I've got it in front of me. That doesn't mean 2-3 business days that all the techs are saying to me.
I've even had several techs say I need to send in my machine, and I say, uh, I have on-site repair, and they say they "need to get approval" to authorize on-site service. **bleep**??
This is the worst customer service and the poorest machines I've ever encountered.
I also have a 2-month old y570, that arrived with a broken battery bay and still the touchpad is as stiff and unusable
as Day One.  Both the lower housing/battery bay and the touchpad have to be replaced or repaired.
I'm gathering that others are having as many problems with their machines as I am having with mine. And even when you pay for good service -- you don't get it.
IdeaPads bear no resemblance to the greatness of ThinkPads or the IBM of yesteryear.
    Lenovo, please help.

Unfortunately, the carrier that you purchased it from is where your warranty channel is. I wish I had a better answer but that is how the system works.
As I mentioned, even if you are within the warranty period and with the same carrier, the warranty is probably void since the device has been disassembled and repaired--they can tell when it's been apart. I've heard of this mirrored issue before and it's usually a hardware problem, as you've already been made aware of by the repair facility you took it to.
I hate to say it but you are probably out of luck on this one. Wish I had something better to tell you.

    2. If your issue has been solved, please resolve it by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • Set mpeg resolution to less than half?

Is there any way of setting the mpeg resolution to less than half? I ask this because I want to use the program strictly for HDV real time monitoring (not recording) and it seems like the latency is most affected by the mpeg resolution.

No, Half-Res is the only option. Is your CPU getting pegged while monitoring HDV at half-res? If not, then a lower res setting wouldn't help.
A major factor in latency with HDV is the interframe compression. There's a big random element to the extent of the latency depending on where in the GOP OnLocation starts getting frames. So if the latency is especially bad, cycling power on the camera might help. It's pure luck of the draw where you step into the GOP data stream.

  • Save completed work in less than a week. Can it be done ?

I have a 185 meg avi file. The volume is too loud and distorted to  use as is.
I ran it thru soundbooth, got the volume and noise out to a natural level.
Went to save it as default DV.
As it started the save process, it went from 23 hours estimated to 35+ hours. I quit at that point.
Is there a way to save this fixed ile so it takes less than a week to save it ?
I probably wouldn't mind so much if I could minimize it while it's working, but it just takes up the full screen and won't budge.

  • SNP PPM Generation from PPDS PPM - Time less than 1 sec. in snp bucket con

    Dear All,
    Request immediate help .
    (a) My PPDS PPM have time elements less than 1 seconds towards processing time and there are operations without a set up time .
    (b) While converting such a PPM PPM into an SNP PPM I get an error of bucket consumption as SNP cannot convert less than 1 second into a daily bucket .
    (c) I have to maintain the base qty in BOM and Routing as 1 unit hence cannot increase the same .
    (d) Is there a way in which SNP PPM can be generated from a PPDS PPM wherein the PPDS PPM has only a processing time of 1 second and no set up time .
    (e) Infact I have tried to convert the PPDS PPM with a time of 1.5 seconds but now I have lot of products where the routing suggests a processing of less than 1second and no set up . This is leading to a PPDS PPM of time less than 1 second and SNP PPM is not getting generated as guess it cannot convert a PPDS PPM with less than 1.5 seconds in a day .
Would appreciate a quick response .
    Thanks and Best Regards ,
    Prashant Kumar

    Hi
Firstly, can I ask why the base unit has to be 1, this seems a strange restriction?
If it has to be, then two possible solutions:
    1) In the CIF enhancement CIFPPM01 you could multiply all values by, for example, 100 to give you larger values in the PP/DS PPM in APO and hence of a size that SNP conversion can cope with.
    2) In one of the BADI's /sapapo/ppm_calc or /sapapo/ppm_gen you can do the same conversion factor if the PP/DS PPM has to also be 1 unit.
    Hope this helps

Don't know why, but the "maximum heap size: 267380736 bytes" value is just slightly less than 256*1024*1024, wheras the reported initial size is equal to that.
Try setting the initial value to 255MB.

  • Less than a month and its already broken

    Dear BT and Forum users,
I am not very happy with my BB service right now and have come on here in the hope that I might get more that platitudes and fob offs.
So...  a few weeks ago my husband finally gave into the sales calls and agreed to have Infinity installed. Our reason - not so much faster internet but in the hope we might get a consistant service. The service we had before that was tempermental at best and we were sick of having to reset the router every other day.  (in hindsight we should have just gone with an alternative ISP).
It was installed a couple of weeks ago and worked well until last Wednesday, since then the service has been a comedy of errors.  To start with my husband confirmed from the outset that they problem was not coming from inside the house but the customer service operator insisted on booking an engineer.
We agreed to the Friday morning appointment. I booked the morning off work (using annual leave) and the engineer didn't show up. My husband called at 12.30 (they won't take calls from me as I'm not on the bill) and he was assured the appointment was booked in. Shortly after 1 I took a call at the home to say the "system" had lost the booking and the engineer wouldn't be coming.
I said I was in all day, he could come now but that was clearly off script and the call centre operative wouldn't enterntain the idea (annoyingly there were 2 BT vans in my neighbourhood that afternoon). Instead they wanted me to rebook another 4 hour appointment. I couldn't stop in Saturday and wasn't going to lose more leave. I said I would discuss the options with my husband.
What followed that afternoon was a series of coversations with them, some with me at home and some with my husband at work offering the same options and us giving the same response. I don't know if the operatives weren't talking to each other or didn't understand but it was really irritating. In the end they said they would call my husband at 4pm. They called some time after 5 and said the would try the exchange first and call us Monday morning if they needed to access the property.
Saturday 8.30 the engineer called to say they were on their way, we had the time so we waited. He arrived and was in the house all of 15 minutes before confirming the problem was in the exchange (all that time wasted for that!). We got a call Sunday to say they needed a new part at the exchange then today my husband got an undecipherable voicemail and a text saying the service will be fixed in the next 72 hours. He has spoken to them this evening and we're still non-the-wiser as now there's a fault further up the line.
Whilst all this is going on we have tried to find out if they expect us to pay for the Infinity and BT Vision whilst the services are not working. All they will say is they won't look at refunding losses until the issue is fixed. I realise they can't give us a total but it was a pretty straight forward question - am I paying for this non-service. One operator has said I can have £10 to cover the missed appointment (I value my time and annual leave a little higher).
In all honestly the loss of internet and BT vision is frustrating but what has really dissapointed me is the lack of customer service. No one in the call centres seem to have a clue what's going on (we've had so many versions of what's wrong) and are too tied to a script. There's no sense of inconvenience - I'm supposed to be ready and waiting for 4 hours at a time but they will fix it sometime in the next 3 day.
Right now I'm not even sure its worth waiting to get this fixed.
I'd love for someone to come on here and fix this for me but I'd settle for a little peer support/shared experience.
    Thanks
    L

OK, so I was being a little optimisitic. We're back online (yay!) but now the bill is just more of the same. Apparently we have to wait 48 hours before they will tell us how they are adjusting the bill  I understand that they cannot confirm the problem si fixed yet because of some internal policy but they won't even tell us how much they would calculate as of now - a pretty straight forward question.
So with that, we threw in the towel... said if they can't asnwer a simple question we were off. Of course when I told then operator this he said he's put me straight through to his boss and then left me on hold for over 20 minutes before I gave up!
Called back to leaver dept. to be told we have to pay £200 to cancel (funny they could give us that figure pretty easily). I don't know what was said when he signed up but I am going to be investigating this further. We've had the service less than a month and its been broken a week.
