Another vict of vzw

another vict of vzw. to make a long story short i have been having problems out of this phone from day one the women had me do an soft reset with my sd card still in the phone and my photos and music was gone and the sd card was damage. i go to the vzw store and spoke to an sales person about the problems i have been have with this phone. the rep said you are still under warranty and i will have an new phone shipped out to you. i got the phone today to only see a use certified like new phone. i was ******. called customer and got someone on the phone who did not have a clue about what he was talking, telling me that i need to call assurion about this phone. i said why would i do that i did not put in an claim for this phone i went to a vzw store and the phone was order from there. he said im sorry but you are going to have to call assurion. then he said o get just check my resources i see this is a vzw policy to send out an used like new phone o let me give you the number to the manufa and you can take it up with them. then i called assurion the rep stated you would only call us if you lost, damage or the phone was stolen so therefore the issue has to be taken up with vzw and then she transfer me. i explain to the rep again and he said that what the rep told me was incorrect however verizon has an policy that we must send out an certi like new equiptment and i was told that it was in my best interest to keep the phone because i will not loose anything by returning the certified phone back to them.i told him i did not want an certified phone and if the vzw rep would of told me that yes we will send you out another phone but it will not be brandnew i would have never order the phone. i then ask for an manager and all he can say is that i will pass this information alone. i ask for the information to the corporrate office and could not get that either. really i have 3 phone lines and have been a customer of theirs for years. hell im going to us cellular where they give you bonus points to use towards a new phone and you dont have to wait years to do an upgrade. i will also be filling a complaint through the bbb.org and also through the ftc

First of all doing a soft reset just means powering off your phone then back on. It wouldn't erase your memory card by powering off your phone then back on. If you took your mem card out while it was still on it could corrupt data on the card. And even if you did a factory reset, unless you select to erase the card, it won't just erase it. Are you sure it is erased? Have you tried using an adapter to pull up the contents on a computer?

  • I need to cancel a line that is no longer used but I'm told that, since I transferred an upgrade from the unused line, the contract on the unused line was extended by two years.  If I need to cancel both to get out of this, so be it but I'd rather not and

I'm paying for 2 smartphone lines when only one is in use.  It's a waste of money that I can no longer afford.  I would like for someone to present me with options or I will have to seek an alternate service provider.

Ok so now there are presumptions of both my ignorance and my dishonesty.  This has become the most surreal conversation I've had in some time.  I've been a VZW customer for over 10 years and no, this is not something I've ever done before.  In the past, if I wanted a new phone before my 2-year deal was up, I paid full price for the phone and kept living.  That's how the system works, right?  In this instance, I had two lines on my account, each with different contract end dates.  The secondary account was 6 months out-of-contract and unused but, for personal reasons, I kept the line in force.  The person who used the account setup another account with VZW with another phone.  But I kept the line active, just in case.
In the meantime, when reviewing my account online, I noticed an option on the secondary account of "Transfer upgrade".  Given my understanding of the definition of the word "transfer" as well as my previous dealings with VZW phone upgrades, it seemed logical that, since both phones were under the same master account, the upgrade with its requisite contract extension would apply to the line that actually used the upgrade eligibility.  It was therefore, my expectation that the primary line would either have two years tacked on to its current end date or, at the very least the contract end date for the primary line would be 2 years out from the date the upgrade was exercised.  Both options were acceptable to me since, at that point, I was not considering the termination of my relationship with VZW.  I knew I needed a phone with more battery life than the one I had and carrying one of those battery charge packs around wouldn't work for me.  So, I clicked the transfer upgrade button on the secondary account.  I then saw the primary account show as eligible for an upgrade.  At that point, I upgraded the phone on the primary account.  There was no point where I was notified of a 2 year extension on the secondary account and, once I clicked the "Transfer upgrade" link, there was no mention of or reference to the secondary account.
I'm not sure of who I'm replying to or where they are from so I cannot speak to the people they encounter on a day to day basis.  I have not stated nor do I have any desire to get away with a free early upgrade.  It should be noted that we are discussing a discounted upgrade, not a free phone.  I still paid $150 for the phone and was happy to do it.  However, this idea that I'm trying to circumvent the system is offensive.  I'm not trying to get away with anything.  As I've said in previous posts, I expected to burn discounted upgrade eligibility on the primary line for a minimum of 2 years.  I actually expected the new contract end date to be 3 years away, which would have been more than fair for all concerned.  Fairness, it seems, is running in short supply.
If all you have to say is that I'm stupid, ignorant, or dishonest, please don't bother to reply.  If you can in some way help to bring this to a satisfactory resolution, I'm all ears.  Can you hear me now?  Good.

  • Can we trust customer service?

Hopefully someone from VZW can help me, otherwise this will be another complaint against VZW.
When I had purchased a new phone (outside VZW), I had contacted VZW customer service to inquire about waiving my activation/upgrade fee of $30.  When I talked to the rep, I mentioned that I have been a subscriber for well over 10 years and was wondering if they could help.  Well, he said thank you for being a long time customer and said that he can help with that.  At the time, he told me that it shoudl be no problem and that that they also had a promo around Christmas time that it would be waived.  How it was communicated to me was the the fee could waived when I activated.  I had asked the rep to note it my accocunt and call history and he said OK.
Well, not that I get my bill, I saw the $30 charge (along with the taxes and surcharges associated with this $30).  I was called customer service and also talked to a supervisor and they were not able to waive the charge.  Apparently, the first rep I talked to around Christmas time noted it on my account that it would only be waived if I activated by 12/24....it was communicated differently to me.  I activated that phone 12/27.
I'm just very disappointed that there is no other avenue for someone to help, especially since I have been pretty loyal to VZW.  I'm also disappointed that they did away with the email inquiry and support (I used to email them and they would get back to me right away and with very favorable resolution)...there was a time when their support did help me and did take into account my loyalty and all my on-time payments.  I have 5 lines on a family plan and slowly, I am adding data to each line (not all of them have it...yet).
But if this is the model that VZW is heading (or already there), it doesn't make any difference which company to go to.  Just go with the cheapest company, i suppose.  For me, I can afford to since I live in an area that has coverage from the major cell providers.
Verizon, if you can help, feel free to respond to this to see what you can do.  It's not like I am always disputing this or that....just been paying my bills on time.  I have no problem paying for things that I signed up for, but the fact that the customer rep said one thing and "gave the impression" that the fee would be waived, I feel disappointed and not given accurate information.
    Thanks for hearing the rant.

I get what you're saying, and I understand that I will have to pay the fee, but the fact that I called specifically asking if it could be done and was told explicitly that they could waive it.  Also told me that he couldn't waive it unless it was charged already (which I have not activated yet).  Now, you can argue that this isn't part of the contract...but the fact that I called specifically asking about it and the representative told me "yes" and that it shouldn't be a problem.  After he said that, he also checked on promotions and said that they are waived it until the 24th.  I asked him to make sure to document our conversation, which he complied, but I guess he only documented half the conversation.
So I guess what you're saying is that the customer service representatives don't necessarily have to give accurate information?  He had time to find out...I was on hold when he went to ask about it.  This misinformation is a reflection on Verizon as a company.  I suppose that's the problem with customer service these days and with a lot of these large companies.
It never hurts to ask for anything, but if he had said at first that they couldn't do it and it would only be waived during a certain period, I would have activated by then.  But I told him my intent on activating right after Christmas....the rep told me that he documented our conversation and it should not be a problem.
I've had times where my phone inadvertently used data (before data plans became the norm) and a simple call to customer service took care of those charges, which was a "bend" from the contract.
As for entitlements....sometimes it's good to have it.  Do they have to?  Of course not....but could they?  They could to keep business.  I routinely give my business to the companies that have treated me well...even given me perks (hotels, car rental, restaurants, etc).
Contract does not excuse being okay to give out wrong information.

  • How to get a copy of my final bill?

Just ported our two VZ numbers to T-Mobile on 02/01/14.  Our VZ billing cycle ends on 02/23/14.  If I understand correctly, my current payment scheduled for 02/18/14 takes care of my bill through the end of the current cycle ending 02/23/14 and the ETFs will be assessed on 02/23 when the account is officially closed, at which point I will have to then pay the ETFs and any outstanding charges.  Is this correct?
Second, although the FAQ states that you can still access you account online after it is disonnected, I can no longer access the account.  I sign in with my username and password, then it asks me to associate one of the disconnected numbers with the username, I select a number and then get a "page unavailable" error.  My question is, since I am signed up for e-bills, how will I access the final bill showing the ETFs if I can't access the online account?  I need the bill not only for the ETF rebate from T-Mobile, as well as not wanting to pay a bill I haven't been able to see.  I don't want to blindly hand VZ hundreds of dollars without making sure the bill is correct.  Are all final bills sent by paper or is there some magic to get the final e-bill?
Has anyone else had to deal with this situation?
    Thanks for any replies.

I do want to let VZW know why we have decided to leave, as hopefully policies and procedures may change for current customers and maybe win our business back at some time.
It may come as a surprise, but cost of service was not the number one factor in switching from VZW.  Cost was only "icing on the cake."  The main reason was VZW's device policies.  I want to pay for access to a network from a wireless provider and nothing else.  It's OK for a provider to sell phones, but I don't want the device and the network to be so tightly intertwined that it distorts policies and pricing.
The ability to purchase a Google Nexus and have my own device was quite liberating.  With the current model used by VZW you never truly own the phone.  It makes a customer feel trapped in a vicious cycle.  You get a subsidy, and in return pay higher monthly fees for that subsidy, however, you continue to pay for that subsidy long after the phone would have been paid off had you purchased it yourself.  So, you are left with a choice after 2 years, continue to pay higher monthly rates to pay for other customers subsidies or get a new phone under contract and get caught in this bizarre relationship.
Now, when I pay the cost of the phone, one payment, two payments, 24 payments, with Google, Amazon, you name it, it is mine and I don't continue to have a device cost factored into my monthly fee.  I am only paying for network access, which is what I want.  If one word describes it, I now have CHOICE.  If my new provider doesn't live up to my expectations, I can go to another (unfortunately not VZW with my own device).  Also, I control what is on that device, no more VZW "bloatware" doing things I don't want my phone to do.  It truly is my phone.
I now have what I want in a provider, network access and only network access.  Not this bizarre phone subsidy, never ending, choice-less cycle.  And to top it off, it's a lot cheaper and the phone is noticeably faster.  If policies change, then maybe we will come back, until then, no.

  • How do I get my unlimited data plan back

Upgraded my phone at a verizon booth in a SAM's club and was told that nothing would change on my plan. They activated the phone and got everything all set up so I didn't skip a beat. A couple days later I receive a text from VZW that I was close to going over my data minutes so knew something was wrong. Called VZW and sure enough was told that unlimited data was not longer provided and since I upgraded my phone I lost the plan. I explained I had not been given that piece of information and if had I would not have changed phones as the unlimited data is more important to me. The VZW I talked with was verify helpful and said I should have been told, that since I was not told he would send a request to corporate to get the unlimited data back for me. He even bumped me up from 2G to 5G with no cost to me so that during the 48 hours that this could take I wouldn't incur any costs. I was so very pleased and assumed all was ok. Then yesterday I receive another text from VZW again telling me my data was close to going over my plan. Surprised I called VZW today and again talked with a rep who was very pleasant but informed me that the request sent to corporate was rejected and guess what, I wasn't informed and now it is past the 14 days so I can't return the phone and re-establish my plan back to how it was prior to the new phone. I was told I had been sent a email telling me this was rejected but I have no record of an email. I don't understand why I get texts when I' close to going over data but they wont send a text to tell me a request has been rejected and this is sent to some bogus email account that I'm not aware of or even a notification sent where I can go into my vzw account and call up the notification of reject... nothing... then I'm told the only way I can get in touch with corporate is to via mail.... really.... a company that's business is smart phones, who communicates with me via texts, emails, and I can't get in touch with them other then mail. So because I upraded my phone, I am now under a 2 year contract again, so can't just cancel my account without penalty and I have no unlimited data. How is that customer service.

Yes I was told I could return my phone within 14 days; however, when the vzw customer service rep I toalked with told me they agreed I should have been told this important piece of information and submitted an "Inactive Price Request" to Corporate on my behalf, I assumed after the 48 hour waiting period that my data had been restored since I was NOT NOTIFIED by vzw that they had rejected the request. By the time I was texted again from vzw that I was close to exceeding my data plan it was past the 14 days and vzw will not honor returning the phone at this point. What I find interesting is the vzw is great about sending text and emails when a person is close to exceeding or exceeding their plan however they were not able to send me a text or email telling my they had rejected my request to reinstate my unlimited data plan. A bit sneeky and unprofessional in my opinion.

  • Does an iPhone 4s or 5 have all radios in it?

Is an unlocked iPhone 4s or 5 truly capable of working on all networks??? I am currently a Verizon customer and while they are the best carrier in my current market AT&T and T-Mobile both have markets where they are much better than VZW. Also, I have just about had it with VZW nickel and diming me every time I turn around!!! VZW might be the best carrier in the Southeast US from a network standpoint but they are the worst on cost and shenanigans. Buying an unlocked cell phone that does not work on ALL PLATFORMS is like buying a new car that will only work with Shell gasoline.
So, if I buy an unlocked iPhone 5 can I activate it on a CDMA or GSM network with T-Mobile, AT&T or VZW (or God forbid Sprint...the worst of the four in every market)?
On another note, I had one of the original iPhone 5s when they came out and had the time sync problem so I returned it; have they fixed the time sync issue yet???
    Thanks!

    MVNO's ????? What are these?
I understand that some of the discounters like Walmart are reselling several packages, one of which is called "Straight Talk." One of these is a repackaged VZW service I am told. Would a Verizon 4s work on the Walmart version of the VZW service? I suspect VZW has implemented something to keep folks from bailing on the more expensive VZW direct in favor of the generic VZW service.
The more I think through this the more I dislike VZW! The devil you get with AT&T or T-Mobile is dropped calls and spotty coverage in some places but you can always take your expensive device and go to another GSM provider; VZW on the otherhand is painting customers in a corner with abusive business practices and crazy fees.
Wish there was a carrier with a robust network and a reasonable set of business practices, they would have all the business!

  • My Experience with Sony Xperia Tablet S (so far)

For the Sony Xperia Tablet S, the bootloader is still locked, so getting an official install of Android is still impossible.  I've decided to root it and clean it up as much as possible.  At this point, It's either that or take it skeet shooting.
After rooting the tablet, I have managed to clean some of the junkware up manually.  It's not the solution to the problem (only Sony or a judge can right their wrong), but getting rid of this junk seemed to help to some extent.  Here is a list of all the apks that I manually deleted (season to taste).
Obvious disclaimer, here:  If you brick your device, it's your fault and not mine.  One thing that you COULD do though, is encourage Sony to up their morals and do the right thing by giving us the capability of unlocking our bootloaders.  Selling people locked down hardware without the ability to unlock it is like selling someone a house and then telling them after the fact that they cannot clean the junk out of it, or modify it, or paint it, or fix the plumming, or replace the carpet, or even use the front door...  I think you get the idea.  It's a morally corrupt thing to do, IMO, and I think that Sony should be ashamed of themselves for locking us out of our own property.
I'm not nearly finished cleaning the tablet up yet (I'm going to take a break and get some reading in, but will focus on the system files next).  At a minimum, this list can serve as a big chunk of useless fat that people can lipo out of their tablets if they so desire.

There are probably a few files that I removed and did not mention, but there won't be many.  I didin't actually start keeping a log of the removals until later in the game, although I recorded as much as I could from my terminal buffer to make the list as complete as possible.
Obviously, if you're going to delete files, I strongly suggest that you keep a log AND make sure you have multiple types of backups (and backups to those backups).  I actually had to rely on my backups on multiple occasions while coming up with this list.  Again (as in "service not rendered"), we need our bootloaders unlocked so we can actually own the hardware that we have purchased.
    Launcher and keyboard:
    ======================
The launcher and keyboard that come with the Xperia Tab S ******.  On my system, I have replaced them both with the Nova Launcher and the Hacker's Keyboard, resulting in much (much, Much) better functionality and useability! And once those defaults were set, I removed the launcher and keyboard that came with the tablet as well.
    Boot Animation:
    ===============
As far as the boot animation is concerned, that's easily changed as well.  Nothing new here (Google it):
      # find -type f -name bootanimation.zip -exec ls {} \; -exec ls -la {} \;
      ./system/media/bootanimation.zip
      -rw-r--r-- root     root       242855 2013-05-19 02:44 bootanimation.zip
Something I need to figure out for my next steps:
    =================================================
Can I simply build a stock Android system, take stock apks from that build and put it on the Xperia (replace) without any issues?
Can I swap them out whole-sale, or are there any caveats in regards to how far can I go with that?
Any advice of how to further improve this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

These are the issues as I see it:
    The Software:
Initially, when I complained about not being able to remove unwanted software, this is what I got:
     *  "You can disable it in the settings and you won't see the icons."
     *  "You can root the device and remove the unwanted software, but if you do, then we won't honor the warranty"
We'll look at the logic of these, but first, let's inject a simple analogy -- something I think most people will be able to relate to with ease.  Let's say that I buy a house, and I like the house a lot, but there is a toilet in the middle of the living room (I like social stuff that much ).  So after I purchase the house, I find out that I cannot remove the toilet in the living room because I don't have the "special tools" to do it.  In addition, this toilet has a bit of a valve problem, and it runs constantly.
The first supposed solution was "You can disable it in the settings and you won't see the icons."  That's like saying "throw a sheet over it."  In this case, disabling it doesn't even mean turning off the water.  There's still pipework being used, because cache supporting those apps still keep coming back.  So the toilet keeps running, and it gets to the point that it annoys the ****** out of me.  Throwing a sheet over the toilet does not fix the problem, nor does it remove the offense from my living room.  Not only is this NOT a solution, it's a horrible idea!
The second supposed solution was "You can root the device and remove the offending software, but if you do, then we won't honor the warranty."  I'm not big on warranties, and over the years I've discovered that most companies give me so much hassle and additional cost over getting something replaced or repaired, that I'm better off getting another product (usually from another vendor).  I personally wouldn't expect Sony to be any different in that regard.  That said, I don't care about warranties.  Furthermore I don't expect Sony to truly honor a warranty any more than I would expect a previous owner of my house to fix my leaking roof.
In my house, I don't want toilets in my living room.  I realize that there may be a lot of people out there who might find this to be of great use and value, but for me, it is offensive just knowing that it is there.  More offensive to me, is that I'm told I can not (or even "should not") remove it.  But even worse is, "throw a sheet over it."  To me, that's right up there with "We don't care so shut up."
So, left with no other choice, I rooted the tablet and took the (most obvious) toilets out of the places where I felt that they did not belong.  I don't expect help or tech support from Sony, either and if "throw a sheet over it" is any indication of the help that I might get, then trust me when I say that I don't WANT any help from them.
But that's not even the crux of my frustrations with this whole thing.  It's just a side-show.
    The Hardware:
Lets get something straight - When I buy a piece of property (whether it be a computer, a motor vehicle or a house), I expect to be able to enter that property in any way that suits me (and the way by which entry was intended is no exception by anyone's reasonable expectation).  Furthermore, if that piece of property has the ability to be locked, I fully expect to have the relevant keys, so that I might lock and unlock it on my own and at my own discretion.
With this tablet that I have bought, and therefore I own, I expect to be able to use the front door (the boot loader).  It is my property, I hold the bill of sale (the "deed"), and I cannot see how Sony has any moral, ethical, or legal standing to withhold those keys from me, thereby preventing me from entering my own property in a forthright manner.
So far, I've read the following excuses on this forum:
"We do it for your security"
As in "Sony is my savior?"  Hmm.  Does this mean that if a Sony customer has an unrooted and locked-by-Sony Xperia Tablet S that gets hacked, and their bank account goes dry and their identity is stolen as a result, that Sony will take the responsibility for it, reimburse that customer, and pay any costs to get that persons identity cleared?  Of course not.  The term "Responsibility" is a two-edged sword, and it cuts both ways.  As such, this excuse of taking responsibility of my security reads more like this: "For your security, we will control your house, but if you get compromised, you're stuck holding the bag, because we're not responsible."  If that doesn't defy logic, then I don't know what does!  This isn't an excuse for security.  Instead, it's a lame excuse for control, which provides no safety net.  I personally don't want someone who will not be responsible, taking on the role of being responsible for my security.  I would much rather be responsible for my own security, thank you very much.
CAVEAT:  I do understand that there are people out there who have no concept of security whatsoever and who do really dumb things, so the use of a snake-oil security solution can be beneficial (perhaps to the extent that it will "keep the honest people honest"), but my point is that it's still snake-oil, and it's benefits are far too limited for my taste.
So no, I don't want Sony's snake-oil security solution.  I want what is rightfully mine.  I want to hold the keys to the device that I have purchased.  I want the ability to lock and unlock my own front door at my own discretion, and if possible I want to change the key set so that once I take control of my own device, Sony can't unlock that door while I'm not home.  (there's an interesting idea, eh? ).
The other reason I've now heard is that "We do it to protect our proprietary software"
I would love to have a link or a scan of any document from Sony that actually states this.
If that is truly their position, then my response would then be, "Does this mean you do it so that I can't get rid of those toilets in my living room?  I won't want them in my living room, I don't want them in my bedroom, I don't want them in my kitchen, on my front porch, or in my den.  I don't want your software in my house, and being that this is MY house (as in "I hold the deed"), I'm ordering you not only to get the ****** out, but give me MY keys to MY front door!  This house is under renovation!
    On getting a refund:
If getting a refund is what Zero wanted, then congratulations to him.  If a refund is what you want, then good luck.  Do you think Sony will reimburse you for the time you've wasted with it as well?  Just a thought.
I'm personally not interested in a refund.  I simply want what is rightfully mine.
In fact, if this doesn't get resolved (or the tablet bricks in the process) maybe I'll take it skeet shooting and upload the video.  It will at least be entertaining, and the upside to it would be that it couldn't be refurbished and imposed on yet another vict...  er...  I mean customer.
    Final thoughts:
In the end, if Sony will not honor their sales by actually relinquishing the ownership of the hardware that they sell to the person holding the bill of sale, then at the very LEAST, they should start placing on their products warnings labels for future potential customers, enabling them to understand what they are actually buying, and what they are actually NOT buying -- Some type of "Brooklyn-Bridge" or "Bully" Buyer-beware warning should suffice, I think.  If they do not do this, then I can definitely foresee customers being forced to go before a judge in order to actually take ownership of the property that they have purchased -- and that CAN'T be good for business.  (Just sayin')

  • Let down by verizon

so i got the droid alittle over a year ago and about 6 months into it, it broke and my screen wouldnt work. verizon sent me a refurbished phone instead of fixing my phone or replacing it with a new phone. so now, 6 months later, the refurbished phone does the samething and verizon is saying that i dropped my insurance on my plan. i now have to buy a phone at full price cause im not up for an upgrade till march. im not an important person but this is the second time im without a phone and i have no way of being reach. i dont understand how you can hand out refurbished phones with your guarantee and they break and you guys act like its not your problem anymore cause the warranty ran out on my phone not the refurbished phone. my mother is sick and my wife is pregnant and if something would of happened and i wasnt there id a been highly **bleep** off. so now its christmas time and i have to pay full price for a phone and im not going to do it. i will wait till march and go somewhere else. there was no help offered and i feel like you guys could careless. so i will go somewhere where they do care. i have been with verizon for about 5 years now and always talked good about them but maybe i was wrong.

    I, too, am unhappy.
My LG phone has had problems from day 1 since I bought it last September.  I have had the phone replaced 4 different times.
I've been calm and collected when I go into my stores, however, at this point, I am becoming very irate!  All these reps want to offer me is to upgrade my phone at a $20 early upgrade charge and remind me that I will be losing my $50 "new every 2" upgrade credit - or, give me a phone that is "certified pre-owned"....only to have that phone malfunction later down the road.
I've also called LG, they will offer nothing in dealing with this phone.
I have finally called the customer support at verizon because I am sick and tired of these reps not doing much and these people want to do the same thing and they want to "help"  me find a new phone.  None of them are free either!
This is what I have told them so far(and because of this, has gotten me transferred numerous times because I have finally brought up a legitimate thing!) I bought this LG last September and had to pay $79.99 after my rebates.  This phone has malfunctioned several times in the past year and had to be replaced 4 times.  Yet, VZW wants me to pay $20 plus the cost of a new phone to get away from a malfunctioning piece of crap that was sold to me in the first place???  Would you do that??  I didn't think so.....
I was transferred to a "smarty pants" rep earlier today who replied, "No, I wouldn't waste my time in the store.  I would go online or call the tech support phone number and purchase a phone.  Simple as that."
He offered to waive my $20 upgrade fee and is going to call me back tomorrow afternoon to discuss my choice in new phone(Prices are ranging from $10-$200).
As you can see, I'm not happy and they are not getting the point.
I am currently researching new wireless providers for my family.
Our phone bill is on average - $175 per month.  I have 4 lines.  And, I am presently looking for a smart phone along with 2 of my other lines when our lines are ready to be upgraded.  I have always paid my bill in full or over-pay for the last 4 years(except for when I lost my job, but that is another story about vzw customer service-was pd off within 2 mos of me losing my income by some miracle).
I'm sick and tired of being treated like scum on the bottom of a shoe at this point.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I think it is important to remember that the early upgrade option is more of a privelage than a recompense and the fee is to offset the missed funds from the normal upgrade time frame. Verizon Wireless does provide the appropriate scenarios to protect the phone fully, according to an individual's respective need, and offers multiple options to accommodate various extraordinary situations and needs. Utilize one of the available options- preferrably the early upgrade fee waiver, if eligible. Most do not have the luxury of having that waived.

  • Dear Verizon, From a WebOS user on your network...

with the upcoming Pre 2, please include the following:
The NFL app that sprint was using on it's pre's, and that you have included on all the other smartphone platforms on your network except webOS
Access to "My Verizon" app so we can access our account info, something you include on EVERY phone, dumb and smart, on your network except webOS
True GPS support, without bugs and lockdowns or whatever you or palm are doing to the gps chip on the pluses on your network
Please make sure there is no double/triple and missed letter bug on
the keyboard with the release of the phone this time, like you did with the pre pluses before 1.4.1. Vzw, you guys supposedly test all the phones thoroughly on your network for
"security" issues, how about testing the actual use of this device so this doesn't pop up?
Continue the great pricing you have for the touchstone package that you have been offering over the past few months.
Release the device at reasonable pricing, $150 or less, and offer a promo for all current pre plus users to upgrade early, similar to what you do with many of your droids, windows mobile, and blackberry devices around the holidays
Continue the free mobile hot spot feature to differentiate the pre 2 from all the "cooler" droid devices and use it
    as a selling point.
Include the webOS devices in your upcoming "unlimited" price plans similar to sprints. Perhaps also offer discounted pricing on the phones to
sprint customers stuck with the pre minus to maybe lure them over to your network.
Include the pre 2 as part of your pre paid plans as well.
I know you likely will not be advertising this phone much, but if you do include it to advertise your network overall, don't advertise it to mommy's only.
And finally, please consider other hp palm phones in your roadmap of devices as well, as there are some that think the device is either too similar to the pre plus or prefer other form factors but enjoy the webOS platform. Not everyone wants an android phone!
    Thank you for your time.
Look forward to figuring out a way to upgrade early to the pre 2.

I left most of MDsmartphone's post intact just to reinforce the message. I and, I believe, most of VZW's WebOS customers will also agree with this.
I find it most reprehensible that VZW still hasn't provided NFL Mobile to their WebOS customers. WebOS is not the dream child that Android and Blackberry are so VZW has spent money, time, and manpower to insure the dream children have the application, but VZW is unwilling (note: not unable) to make one tenth of that level of effort to provide an already existing application to their WebOS customers.
The Mobile Hot Spot being no cost to Pre Plus and Pixi Plus customers is almost the only thing keeping me from jumping ship to another carrier.
VZW, you need to make at least as much effort to properly advertise WebOS devices as you spend on Android. Even during the first months of VZW carrying Pre Plus and Pixi Plus I saw or heard "maybe" 1 Palm commercial for every 5 or 6 Droid commercial. This has to stop. Parity for Palm Pre Plus 2.

  • After 23 years as a VZW customer, VZW won't offer any incentive if I upgraded and commited to another two years.  Time to say good-bye.

When you complete your current contract, Verizon has options on which incentives you would like to take.
You can sign a new 2 yr service contract by purchasing a new phone at a considerable discount(~$400+).
You can also choose to purchase a new smartphone on Edge at full retail cost for which Verizon will give you either a 37.5% or a 62.5% discount(depending on your data allowance) on your monthly line access fee when on the More Everything plan.
If you choose to simply continue using your current phone on the More Everything plan, Verizon ALSO offers the same 37.5%/62.5% discount(depending on your data allowance) on your monthly line access fee.
Of course, as with anything else, there are some which always want more of a discount than what is offered.
Hopefully, after you get used to the rates with your new provider, you won't then want MORE which they likely won't be willing to give you.
Good luck with the new provider.

  • Scam Another Robo-call claiming to be VZW

Be careful people Phone calls have been going out from a scammer claiming that if you log onto www.my45verizon.com you can get a 45.00 credit on your bill, THIS IS A SCAM A ATTEMPT TO GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR VZW INFORMATION.................... BEWARE ... numbers showing in Caller ID 800-922-0204 be wary of anyone asking for your VZW information online and in emails VZW will never ask you for information like this as they ALREADY HAVE IT...... So if VZW wanted to give you a credit, gift, discount or anything like that they would more then likely do so in the REAL VZW CUSTOMER PORTAL........

"We" are not going to stop it, and as long as people fall for it, scammers will continue to try it.  All "we" can do is not respond, not get scammed ourselves, and warn others.
It's not just Verizon that's targeted, either.  Go to http://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/  and search for any of the cell carriers - or just about any company.  Scammers keep at it because it works often enough to make it worth their while to continue.

  • Congrats VZW!!! Sprint beat you to ANOTHER UPDATE!!!

Last time I posted about this the files for 4.2 on Sprint were on Google's server. Now they are being pushed out. I'll say this for VZW. At least they're consistent. CONSISTENTLY LAST IN UPDATING THEIR PHONES!!!!. Well done, VZW. Well done.
    http://www.androidcentral.com/android-421-pushing-sprint-galaxy-nexus

The new Photo Sphere software is in the update, Google Now updates, DayDream Feature, these are 3 major features in it that I know of.
If Verizon doe stop support now, they better just release the phone and let Google do the updates. Verizon would save money and time by letting Google push the update.  I really hope Dish and Google get a Carrier put together and operational by the time my contract is up. I'm sick of the new Data Gouging Tiers, Crappy lte Speeds of 12 mbps down 5 up, and the negligence to updating the Phone's os, also treating customer's like mushrooms, keeping them in the dark and feeding them crap.
Verizon doesn't have to give a specific date to the update's date it will push, just let us know if they are working on it, or if we are getting them, or if they ran into problems. Any information is good, as long as we know they're actually doing something.

  • Text Messages are being sent as email only to another vzw user. Not able to send text to a mobile device?

I am on a Galaxy S4. Sending text as usually, recipient gets an email of the text. Is is my settings or theirs? What needs to be changed?

Are you entering their name from your contact list to send the text?  Or typing in their phone number?  The email may be what's being populated by default when you pull their name from the contact list, if that's how they have replied to you previously, or how you sent your last message to them. Try manually typing in their phone number in the To: field and see if it sends as a text or as an email when you do that.

  • Yet another carrier is updating Nexus phones to 4.2.2 before VZW

Bell Mobility is joining Sprint and will upgrade their customers Galaxy Nexus handsets to Android 4.2.2
What about you Verizon? Any thoughts? Any plans?

  • Is IPad2 from another major carrier compatible with VZW IPHONE

Or in other words, will one account Itune allow me to synch device from a different carrier. Like Ipad2 from Verizon and Iphone from AT&T. I have a feeling that the answer is NOT but I'll throw in the question anyway, thanks

Yes, iTunes will allow you to sync multiple devices regardless of carrier.  The carrier is there to provide you data service, nothing else.  Your music, apps, and other data will sync just fine.
