Exist SQLServer driver implement JDBC20 createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE)?

Hello,
I have to perform a kind of "SELECT FOR UPDATE" in a database transaction. My
DBMS is SQLServer. I think the best approach is to use the createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY,
ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE) sentence, as this should properly work in other DBMS
like Oracle as well.
The problem is that the driver which is provided with WebLogic Server 6.1 beta
(weblogic.jdbc20.pool.Driver because I am using pools) does not implement this
sentence. What should I do to get another driver which implements that? Does it
exist? Do I have to buy it to a third company?
I have read dozens of messages in this newsgroup regarding JDBC20, but questions
are usually from Oracle users. I even would not understand how to solve the problem
if I had Oracle, I think a good explanation about all this mess is missing in
the Weblogic documentation.
Any help would be appreciated. Regards,
David

David,
Have a look at the Merant DataDirect drivers.
Free type 3 and 4 evals are available at www.merant.com/datadirect.

hi david,
MS SQL Server driver that ships with WLS does not support JDBC 2.0methods.
You will have to use a third party driver for this.

  • New DVR, Can't Recognize Existing ESata Drive/Programs

I had a Motorola 7216 DVR box that had an external ESata drive.  The box had three issues:  froze 2-3 times a day for maybe 30 seconds, sound "clipping" during loud sections of shows/movies, and I could never get the Android app or web app to connect to the DVR.  So, I received a new 7232 DVR today.  Prior to disconnecting the old, I did the proper method of ejecting of the ESata Drive.
I hooked up the new DVR, and (possibly mistakenly) hooked up the ESata drive as well before booting it up the first time.   Did the initialization, all went well.   Went through the routine of adding ESata, rebooted, didn't recognize the drive.   Realize I maybe shouldn't have plugged it in, so unplugged ESata cord, rebooted, did Set-Top Box Auto Correct, then went through the proper routine to add external storage.   However, when rebooting, the box blinks one light for 30 seconds, then the entire display lights up, then it reboots, repeating this routine ad infinitum (nothing ever displays on the TV).
So, thinking I got a bad box, I hook up the old DVR, get it working, and then run the add ESata routine.  It now is in the same infinite loop as the old box (for 30 minutes now as I type).
Removing the ESata, and rebooting, back to normal operation, though without ESata and all of the recorded shows.
Any ideas?   Do you think my "mistake" in hooking up the ESata drive to the new box right off the bat might have messed up the drive?   I'm ordering an ESata to Sata cable so I can hook up the drive to my PC and see if it's accessable.  Maybe I can reformat it, knowing we'll lose all our programs (actually, my wife's programs......no big deal to me )
Or does it take a long time to initialize an existing ESata drive with lots of programs on it?
    Solved!

    Greetings, armond_in_nj!
Thanks for your message responding to my plea for help!
OK.... Finally have had time to try everything again AND make notes along the way.
    I have a Motorola STB, model HD DVR QIP 7216 P2 500GB.
I have a Western Digital external eSata hard drive, model  WDBABT0010HBK-NESN – 1TB (on the "approved" list).
And yes, I have tried everything mentioned in the post by "steveKane" just above my original. See below at the end for what happened when I tried to re-format my WD drive on my desktop PC.
When I first got my WD external HD several months ago, I had to call Verizon support to get the DVR to recognize the Western Digital external HD, but we finally got that fixed and all was fine (i.e., programs recording to external HD, status visible under DVR/Recorder Status using my remote). Then, around mid-november, when I would schedule programs to record, either when I was asleep or at work, when I went to view them later, often times one program was broken into 2 or more segments. Then a little later, sometimes while watching a recorded program, the DVR would just freeze. I would reset the Set Top Box (STB) and could continue watching the program. But this all got worse and worse and, finally, I called tech support. After a frustrating hour with a tech support person, who declared everything was fine with my STB because I could press RECORD and the DVR would record a short segment of programming. During that hour conversation, we had reset the STB more than 10 times. I finally asked to speak with this technician's supervisor, who finally agreed with me that the STB needed replacing. When I received the new STB, it would not function at all. So.... another call to support, more attempts on their end to re-set the STB, and finally they agreed that I needed yet another new STB. When that arrived, I went through all the proper steps to set up the STB first, without the external HD and, only when the new STB was working properly did I try to get it to recognize my external HD.
The Western Digital instructions for connecting their drive to my DVR are as follows:
    1. Power off the DVR box by disconnecting the AC power cord. --- Did that
    2. Connect one end of the eSATA cable to your My Book AV and the other end to the DVR box (do not use a USB cable to connect to DVR) -- Did that
    3. Connect one end of the AC power cord to the My Book AV and the other end to the electrical outlet. The power LED inlluminates. ---- I did, and it did
    4. Waii approximately 15 seconds for the hard drive to reach operating speed. -- Did that
    5. Power on the DVR box by reattaching the AC power cord. -- Did that
    6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
This procedure did not work. There were no on-screen instructions when I powered the STB back on. So, I did the following:
    1. I went to "DVR/Enable more storage" and followed the prompts from there, which at one point told me to connect the external HD to the STB, which it already was. I pressed OK to proceed and got the message that "external storage is active for this STB. To detect the external hard, please press OK to reboot the STB".
    2. Did that, waited; during reboot, a white band appears briefly across the TV screen with the words "Please wait" in red, then it goes away as the reboot process continues. Eventually, I get a message that says "Press MENU to watch FiOS TV, or turn your TV off". I press MENU, the screen appears (with red background) saying "Verizon FiOS is starting up - one moment pleast. Initial download in progress. It takes about one minute", then after a minute or so, the TV image appears.
    3. I go to DVR/Recorder status, and the external HD is not there.
Since the STB prompted me to connect the external HD during step 1 above, I decided to power everything off, disconnect the eSATA cable from the back of the STB, reconnect power to the external HD, then reconnect power to the STB to reboot.
Everything in step 2 above proceeds as outlined there, but still I got no on-screen instructions after FiOS started back up. So, I went to DVR/Enable more storage, followed the prompts until asked to connect the external HD to the STB, at which time, now, I get a pop-up screen that says "The connected external HD has been previously used with another STB with a different DVR. Using the drive on this STB will remove all existing content on the drive. Do you want to use this drive?" Options are "ACCEPT" or "REJECT". I press OK to ACCEPT, then we go through the whole reboot thing again, and still no sign of the external HD under DVR/Recorder status.
I even tried connecting the WD external HD to my desktop computer (running XP Professional) using a USB cable (following "steveKane's" suggestion in his posting of 12-02-12), thinking I could try to reformat the drive on my desktop. After connecting, I go to Window Explorer and the drive is not there. When I open the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the Task Bar, the drive is visible there. I tried stopping the device, removing it, then waiting a bit and reconnecting it, but get the same results. Not visible in Explorer so that I can try to re-format.
The posting by "mcorbo" right above "steveKane's" posting says "The only way to reuse the drive is to let the dvr reformat it." So how does one get the DVR to reformat the drive????
I hope I have given you the information needed.
I'm at my wits end. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Partial Driver Implementation

    Hi All,
My application needs to connect to a sql database, which provides a partial driver implementation. Means to say that It does not implement either DataSource or XADataSource.
But for my enterprise application, deployed on Sun One Application Server 7, I need to create a pool name, for this database.
What should be done under these circumstances.
    Thanks and Regards,

Unless writing a JDBC driver is the goal of this project, I don't see this as a particularly straightforward task. The network protocol Oracle uses is proprietary, so unless you want to invest a lot of effort in reverse engineering it, you'd have to write a driver that used OCI to communicate with the database. That would require that you install the Oracle client on the application server and delve pretty deeply into the OCI API-- not a trivial task on its own.
Additionally, I doubt that the internal logic required to be able to execute stored procedures is significantly smaller than the code to do both.

  • Partitioning an existing HARD DRIVE on a Power PC G5

I have a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 with 4 GB DDR SDRAM running 10.5.6.
    The Hard Drive is 250GBs.
I want to create a 110GB partition on it without erasing the data on the HARD DRIVE.
I'm only using 47GBs of the Hard Drive now.
Everytime I try using DISC UTILITY, it first tells me it can't it, that I have to use some type of
special journaling, but their is only one choice in the drop down for that field. I then try again
after I get the error message, and it appears to begin making the partition.
But then it hangs, forever. 24 hours or more and never stops.
Someone told me to try and boot up using a MAC OSX 10.5 boot up disc in safe mode, do
a HARD DRIVE permission repair and then try Disc Utility from there to make the partition.
But when I boot up in Safe Mode with the MAC OSX 10.5 Installation Disc 1, it says that 10.5 can't
    be installed on the system.
I'm confused. Can I create a partition on an existing Hard Drive without erasing the existing data on a PowerPC, or is that functionality limited to the newer Intel machines?
    Any input would be appreciated.

It sounds like there's something wrong with the file system on your disk.
First, *back up* your drive to an external disk. Use the Restore tab in Disk Utility, CarbonCopyCloner, SuperDuper!, or the like to make a "bootable clone" on a FireWire external drive.
Boot from the clone, then use Disk Utility on it to do a +Repair Disk+ (not permissions) on your internal HD. If that finds errors it can't fix, keep running it until it fixes all of them or can't fix any more.
In that case, you might be able to fix it with a heavy-duty 3rd-party disk repair app, like DiskWarrior. It's about $100 and it (and other similar apps) are available via Google, VersionTracker.com, MacUpdate.com, etc.
Instead of the clone, you can boot from your Leopard Install disc, and select your language when prompted. Then on the next screen, select Utilities from the Menubar, then +Disk Utility.+ Use that copy of DU to do the +Repair Disk.+
If you can't fix it, the drive is suspect. If it's backed-up, you can try erasing it. Select the Erase tab, then +Security Options,+ then +Zero Out Disk.+ If that fails, the disk is dying. If it succeeds, it may be ok.
Then you should be able to make the partition without difficulty.
I'm confused. Can I create a partition on an existing Hard Drive without erasing the existing data on a PowerPC, or is that functionality limited to the newer Intel machines?
Yes, you should be able to partition it, as long as there's enough contiguous space, and the file system is ok.

  • Should I use an existing usb driver or should I create my own?

We are developing a custom piece of hardware that uses a TI6250 chip to provide an USB communication channel. I read through the web reference http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/6792BAB18242082786256DD7006B6416?opendocument that seems to imply that I don't want to use any existing drivers but I need to create my own using the wizard.
I'm new to USB so I'm trying to get started off right so any advice for a novice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brad

What the wizard creates is a .inf file that contains manufacturer id, model number, etc. that defines the USB device that you want to talk to. On your custom board, you have to implement these settings in eeprom/flash. The TI chip driver tells your board pnly how to manage USB communication. You would also need to implement a means to interpret commands received into the hardware functions that are on your board. For example, if the text "RST" is received, intrepret that as a reset and set board level registers to do that. The LabVIEW driver would include a Reset VI. This VI would do a VISA Write with the text "RST". So what we're talking about is actually several different levels of drivers and code - VISA, the .inf file, the embedded code on your custom board, and LabVIEW VIs.

  • [SOLVED] Replacing an existing Arch drive with a new one

I want to swap out my SATA drive with a new one, without reloading anything, nor borking anything..... The original drive is 1TB, and the new HDD is also 1TB, albeit from different manufacturers.
I have WIn 7 in a 256Gb partition, and Arch in the extended partitions worth 750Gb. The drive is a 1 TB drive. (Hitachi)
Arch is my primary OS where I do all my design/cad work and office related stuff. Windows is only used as a gaming platform.
I have been given a NIB 1Tb Seagate Constellation enterprise class drive. It is significantly faster than my existing drive. I wish to switch the drives out.
I am really wanting to avoid a complete reload of both OS's.
My son tells me to use "dd" which I am familiar with, but warns that upon reboot Windows will likely have issues and be very slow.
I have a heavy workload at the moment, and just don't have a day to spend reloading both OS's from scratch.
Is there a better way to image a drive, partition scheme, boot sector, the whole smash (I have a 2TB drive to hold the image) .......R&R the old drive, install the new drive, then have the software then copy back over to the new drive the image with the partitioning scheme and boot sector (syslinux) without borking anything up in either OS?
Assistance is greatly appreciated. I have not needed to do this before...and I'm nervous.
    Thank You!
    Sincerely and respectfully,
    Dave

FWIW, check if your new drive is one meant for the newer 4K sectors.  If so, you should only blindly dd it if the old drive was also set up this way.  If not, then you may need to align the copied data to the 4K sectors, or set up the partitions on the new drive appropriately.  (Western Digital, for example, has an align tool that buzzes through the drive edging everything over to align properly.  If you don't do this and your drive is copied out of alignment, then you can get some slowdown.)
Quite possibly not an issue for you, and there's more to it than I've typed.  It's not hard to do right if needed.  GParted can partition on the correct boundaries, and clonezilla quite possibly is aware as well (I haven't looked). You just need to see if your drives are set up as advanced format (or whatever it's called) and copy accordingly if needed.
I only mention this because there are currently mixed drive types out there and a surprising number of people don't know anything about this and might be taken by surprise.

  • How can I use a existing USB Driver in NI VISA 3.0

    Hello,
we have an ftdi USB driver for our measurement device.
The FTD2XX.sys is registred in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers
    Also I have a FTD2XX.dll and an FTD2XX.inf file.
But I don´t know how can I register them in NI LabView or VISA.
Have I to do a new *.inf file for VISA?
    Thank you
    Cedric

You can either use the manufacturer-supplied driver or NI-VISA to control your USB device but not both. If you have installed your device, each time you plug it in the FTD2XX.inf will associate your device with FTD2XX.sys. Then, you can use FTD2XX.dll to talk to your device using the call library function node. The DLL usually contains a whole bunch of useful functions that someone else already designed to talk to your device. This is the easier route and I would recommend it if you already have the DLL and the installed driver.
The second method would be to uninstall or disable the driver for your device and create an .inf file with NI-VISA Driver development wiazard. This .inf file will tell Windows to use VISA as your device driver. You will, however need the vendor and product ID of the device to use VISA as your driver. The details of this are outlined in the NI document "Using VISA 3.0 to control your USB device."
The drawback of this method is that VISA is just an API to talk to your device and you have to implement the communication protocol to talk to your device. This might take some time to do.
This is why I recommend the first method. Someone else already implemented the driver for your and you just have to use the functions from the dll to implement your application.
    Hope this helps.

  • Steps to Copy Existing Hard Drive

Hi. I just bought 2 Maxtor 500GB internal SATA hard drives. I have a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3GHz purchased April 2006. It has an existing 250 GB hard drive. I also have a Seagate Firewire 250GB External HD. Would anyone be willing to map out the step by step process of installing the 2 new 500GB HD without losing any data? No need for Serial RAID or any of that. Install one, copy to that and then install the other? I pretty much use the Mac for Business- MS Offfice, Internet Banking and email, large Music Files and future plans for Logic Music files. I know how to physically install the units. But then what....? Your help-advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hello! You have some good advice here and I would add that along with SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner apps to clone with you can also use Kappy's instructions below. Always boot from the clone to make sure it boots ok. The process involves copying millions of files so there's always a possibility that everything isn't perfect so boot with the clone to make sure it's bootable. Better sooner than later as you wouldn't want to wait until a crash to find out if it's bootable. Also I recommend multiple clones with alternating dates. If you clone a system that becomes unstable 10 minutes after you've finished cloning then your current system as well as the clone may be corrupt. I note this because it happened to me. Tom
Kappy's Steps to Produce a bootable clone
    Prep external FW drive:
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the startup or source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    8. Select the destination drive on the Desktop and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom in the Ownership and Permissions section be sure the box labeled "Ignore Permissions on this Volume" is unchecked. Verify the settings for Ownership and Permissions as follows: Owner=system with read/write; Group=admin with read/write; Other with read-only. If they are not correct then reset them.
For added precaution you can boot into safe mode before doing the clone.

  • Driver implementation in java

    Hi,
I am working on a personal project in which i am planning to use a servlet that will call stored procedures from an oracle 9 database.
    My questions are :
Is it logical to write and use a driver which is only capable of calling stored procedures, instead of standard JDBC driver for Oracle (to decrease memory requirements of the servlet). If so how can I find information to implement such a driver.

  • CS3 Installer asks for non-existent DVD drive

I'm running CS3 on Windows XP. I need to reinstall because I somehow lost codecs for Premiere Pro. Whenever I try to reinstall, the CS3 installer puts up an Installer Alert that asks me to insert CS3 Master Collection Disc 1 into drive G:\ to continue installation.
That sounds pretty simple, but there is no G: drive on my computer. My two DVD drives are D: and E:, and inserting the disc there has no effect. Checking the Windows device manager shows no G: device recognized anywhere on the computer.
I can only click OK, which returns the same alert, or Cancel to cancel the installation. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the CS3 installer to ask for installation disks on an existing drive. What's particularly annoying is that the installer is running from a DVD in drive E:, so you'd think it would know to ask for further discs in drive E:. I've tried it as well from drive D:.
Any ideas for getting the installer to stop asking for discs in a non-existent drive?
I've toyed with the idea of completely uninstalling CS3, but am afraid that the installer still won't work, in which case I won't be able to get any work done using CS3 at all.
Thanks for any and all help,
    Mike Boom

The 404 means you have not followed the Very Important Instructions on the prodesigntools page before clicking the download links.
The 7 steps are crucial for setting the correct cookies on your hard drive so that the Adobe servers will grant you access to the download files when you click the links.
    So:
    Go back to http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Follow the Very Important Instructions (Step 0 to Step 6 = 7 Steps)
Then click the download links and they will work.

  • Enhancement object does not exist for enhancement implementation

    Hi Experts,
When i tried activating my implementation, i got the sujected error. any kind of inputs will be very helpful. This is an existing implementation and was last changed in October, I just wanted to added few more changes to that.
Here is the long description of the problem.
    Diagnosis
An enhancement implementation xxxxxxxxx was delivered to customers, but the enhanced object YYYYYYYYYY does not exist in the system. The corresponding record does not exist in Table .
    This can have different reasons:
The enhanced program object YYYYYYYYYY  belongs to a different software component than the enhancement and this software component was not relevant for delivery.
An error occurred during system setup so that the enhanced object YYYYYYYYYY was not imported.
The enhancement implementation xxxxxxxxx is obsolete and the enhanced object YYYYYYYYYY has meanwhile been deleted or copied. As a result, there could be enhancement implementations in the system that have not been adjusted or that have incurred an error during deletion or renaming.
    Procedure
Contact your system administrator and try to clarify the problem - if necessary, with SAP's help.

    Hi Reddy,
    1) Please go through the enhance implementation of that. 2) Check whether any thing activation is missing.3) Check the implementation class. It is better to understand if you explain for which badi you are using.
