External 4k monitor says no signal from display port

HELP...
I have a late 2009 27" iMac running 10.10.2 Yosemite, i bought an ASUS PB287Q 4k monitor to extend my desktop. I have connected it by MDP to DP and the Mac recognises the ASUS, shows it as a display and tells me how it is connected but the display keeps saying "display port no signal"
If i run bootcamp and boot into windows 7 Ultimate on the same iMac the screen works perfectly giving me a 4k screen at 2160p to work on alongside the iMac with the same Display port cable.
If i use OS X with a MDP to HDMI connector the screen works as it should but with a max resolution of 2560 x 1440 only.
I have unplugged everything and re-connected, tried turning on the ASUS at different times, reset P Ram but still it will not work?
Obviously every part is working but just not from OS X
The ASUS is also set to display port 1.1
Please can anyone help????

Hi Brett,
Thanks for your response, I'm on an iMac not Macbook but checked your link, All my software is up to date and there is no updates for the Asus and nothing for the mini dislayport to display port cable.
Everything works as it should via display port if i run bootcamp into windows 7 just not from OS X so would seem like a Mac Graphics driver issue perhaps??
I was hoping it would be a glitch that would correct itself by unplugging the cables or resetting the P Ram but no such luck so i am open to any other sugestions.
The iMac can see the Asus at all times just doesn't seem to send the signal to the Asus?
I would be happy to supply any logs that may shed some light on this issue.
Kind Regards
Mark

srceen goes gray after the apple goes off then the monitor says no signal.. It been working great for 9 months use it everyday for fcp.. would the video card be bad???

If the video card were bad, you wouldn't get anything to display. The fact that you get the gray screen with the spinning gear means the video card is working.
So, two things I would try, and you can pick the order. The first is to reset the PRAM. You may want to save this for last since it will reset a few of your settings. Nothing major, but can be annoying. The second is to start the system in safe mode by holding down shift while booting.
If safe mode works, then you have some corrupted preference files or some other program is causing problems. If safe mode doesn't work, you can at least see if zapping the PRAM lets you get any further along with the boot process. Only if both of these fail would I start to consider an issue with the video card.

  • Monitor not receiving signal from computer

I have an Envy 700-074 and I bought a EVGA Geforce GTX 660 (Superclocked) video card to use with it this past July.  It worked very well for the past few months until mid-September when I started having problems while play WOW (I had no problems playing other games that required more video than WOW or in doing my 3d rendering). So two days ago I contacted Blizzard support for advice and they told me to run this display driver uninstaller from guru 3d to totally remove the nvidia drivers from my computer and then reinstall them fresh.  Well when I ran the driver remover program, my screen went black and now I can't get any display response at all from my computer.  The monitor says it is receiving no signal from my computer.  I tried with both a DVI hookup and a VGA hookup and got same response.  Please tell me what I can do to fix this. I need my computer.

Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • XBR-55x900A software update today. Now saying no signal from receiver.

Today I had a Sony Software update download on my XBR-55x900A. The TV now says that it is not receiving a signal from the Denon receiver. Everything worked fine until the update. I have done a hard reset, reset the factory software, bought new HDMI 2.0 cables and still not working. I can attached the cable box directly to the TV and it works. Would really like to get everything back through the stereo receiver.

  • Start a program with a signal from serial port

Hi, my program need to continue when it's gets a signal from the
serial port, I've understand that i need to use Java Communications 3.0 API.
    couldn't install it.
when i import, in my program, javax.comm.* it can't be resolve.
    thank for eny help..:-)

Glad you got it to work. I would only say 2 very important things:
    1) Do not use an IDE as long as you can't code using notepad and command console and don't understand the concept "classpath". Now you've to learn both the IDE and the Java language basics. This is going to take a longer time than when you learn it one by one.
    2) You should NEVER place any 3rd party libraries in JRE/lib or JDK/bin. This is receipt for major future troubles. You should define the classpath yourself. You shouldn't misuse the default classpath.

  • External monitor says no signal and retina display is not working

my retina display stopped working, then i got an external monitor to view my desktop. I then set my laptop back to its factory settings. but now i can't view anything no matter how many monitors I try. I tried the dvi the hdmi and nothing.

    Hi,
    Have you tried
    1.leaving the screen flipped open,
    2.connecting power
    3. connecting external monitor; waiting for it to 'wake up';
then 4. closing lid of MBP to activate clamshell mode?

  • Macbook recognizes external, but monitor states No Signal

    Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro 17" (early 2009) with a GeForce 9600M GT video card.
My issue is, I attach a Lenovo Thinkvision 22" CRT (C220P or 6573-60N) external monitor that I've successfully used with a Macbook Pro 2007 for 2.5 years, using a Mini-Port adapter to DVI, and although my Macbook Pro (2009) recognizes the monitor in System Preferences, the monitor itself shows No Signal on screen and remains blank. I've tried 2 different DVI to DVI cables, 1 DVI to VGA cable, and nothing helps.
I've also tried connecting to another LCD panel display, and again the Macbook Pro (2009) recognized the external, but the external showed No Signal.
So, another day, I connected my Macbook Pro (2009) to a Dell LCD external at work using a different DVI to DVI cable, and it worked! So, I took home that DVI to DVI cable, hooked it up to my Thinkvision external, and again, the Macbook Pro recognizes that the external is there, but the external Thinkvision show No Signal, and remains blank. Trust me, I've switched the external between video inputs, with no success.
So, my question is: does the Macbook Pro only support CERTAIN external monitors? Why is it recognizing that the monitor is there, but there is no signal showing on the monitor? Could I simply have a faulty MiniPort to DVI adapter, and should return that?
Thanks for any advice you can give. Below, you'll see the System Profiler info, showing that it does recognize the monitor.
    Thanks,
    SB

Hi, I had the same issue and resolved it by getting rid of extra converters or adapters. What I mean is I went VGA from my monitor to a mini-dispaly VGA piece and into the MBP. Before I did it like that I was going VGA from my monitor to VGA-DVI-D adpater then to a mini-display DVI-D piece. I did that because I had an extra mini-display to DVI-D piece that I wanted to use instead of going out and buying a new kind. I called Apple support and they suggested that I scratch the VGA-DVI-D conversion to keep the conversions to a minimum. I plugged up the new mini-display to VGA piece and it worked like a charm! I have a MBP 15" (Late 2009) and the external monitor is a hp vs15. It worked for me. I dont know if you use any extra adapters like the kind I was using. If you do I suggest trying the hook up without it. Good Luck!

  • Monitor says - "No Signal"

My G3 has been connected to a 21" Dell (really a Sony Trinitron CRT flat-screen) for over 6-1/2 years, and worked flawlessly. One day, on start-up, I get a blank screen with a terse message… "NO SIGNAL." (!!) Checked all the connectors, pulled & reseated the video card (an ATI Rage 128 of 16MB, rev. 1- #661-2190, with the extra MPEG-2, DVD decoder- #661-2109); after two days of non-sense, took it to the shop… where it worked flawlessly on THEIR service counter! The battery needed to be changed, and was. Took it home, and it was "s-o-s." "NO SIGNAL."
Out of desperation, I connected a spare 20" Apple Multi-scan CRT (also a Sony Trinitron), and everything worked… 1-2-3 and we were on the desktop. Over the next two weeks, the Apple Multi-scan never failed to work.
Thinking that I had a +monitor issue,+ I acquired a Sony 20" TFT flat-screen. Connecting it up, I got the same results… a blank screen with the terse message… "NO SIGNAL !!" Unsavory language followed. Sooooo, I acquired another video card. Inserted it and connected up the flat screen. Again… NO SIGNAL !! The G3 was on the counter four times and worked like there never had been a problem. Even when I took the G3 in with the Sony TFT flat-screen. They said to hold down the Command-Option-P & R keys on start-up. This will bring the flat-screen up, but on start-up later, itz back to business as usual. IF my video card were the problem, the flat-screen would NOT work at all; once up & running, I've made changes to all the monitor settings- to my satisfaction. I've run it for three hours. Re-setting the P-RAM has not changed the blank screen & NO SIGNAL problem.
So, for now, itz the G3, Multi-scan and me. The flat-screen sits. Appearantly, there seems to be BOTH a hardware and software problem. But I'm leaning more towards the software. However, my brainbox DOES know what monitor is connected to it, viz the DISPLAYS pane.
    WHAT say you– Grand Wizards?

Hi! and THX for your reply . The Sony TFT LED flat-screen has 2 RGB analog inputs (J15 & J16) and 1 DVI-D (J17); the flat-screen knows which input is connected to the G3. In the downloaded Sony TFT LED Computer Display manual, on page 15 - under the "INPUT SENSING ON/OFF menu," the monitor automatically detects an input signal to an input terminal and changes the input automatically. While there are no specific "switches," there is the menu. Apparently, I can turn off the *automatic sensing* and manually set the input. I haven't "tried"that just yet. When I rise to the chore of moving things all around again, I'll try manually setting the input. However, I doubt that this will have any effect on things.
Not to throw more dust into the air and further confuse matters, I am begining to suspect my original OS X 10.3 install disk; the one I acquired was for/from a 12" PowerBook G4… @ the time, brilliant me said… "So itz for a 12" PowerBook, so what? Itz Panther, right??" After the original install, there followed 2 updates, the last one being 10.3.9; up until recently, there have been absolutely no glitches on start-up. ALWAYS full-screen… until about a week ago. NOW, the last half dozen start-ups, have been with the reduced screen (the gray "bite-of-the-Apple) for the 12" PowerBook (!!). In any event, I am acquiring a "regular" version of the Panther install disk.
I find it strange that what triggered this whole mess (apparently) was failure of the PRAM battery. Or perhaps, that was just coincidental? REGARDS.

  • HELP : T500, External LCD monitor problems, after upgrading GMA4500MHD display driver!

I have upgraded my display driver for GMA 4500MHD from version 7.15.10 to version 8.15.10.1968 (Vista 32bit).
After the installation and rebooting of the T500, my brand new Samsung SyncMaster2233BW cannot show correct display image.
Only image I can see is white screen with few blue shapes. I'm using VGA output for connection. I have tested the monitor by connecting to my other laptop (Dell D620) and everything works fine.
Can somebody help with this strange problem? How can I make my external monitor work again with
T500? Is it possible to find and download display driver version 7.15.10.xxxx somewhere and revert back?

    Hi sehu,
Can't you just ask Windows to roll back to previous installed driver? Additionally, have you tried going back to the point where previous version of driver was installed through Windows System restore?
Also check in c:\swtools\drivers\video folder to see whether or not the desired driver resides there.
    Hope it helps.

  • External SDI Monitor Not Receiving Signal

I have been Premiere Pro CS6 with no problems in getting a video signal via SDI using the Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Monitor. Moving to CC I have the exact same setups, but the image will not come through to the monitor at all. (sending SDI signal to Flanders reference monitor)
All the Premiere settings in Preferences >> "Playback" and "Device Control" are identical between CS6 and CC. The Black "Desktop Video" driver is the latest version (9.9.3) and settings are same when trying CS6 and CC.
What else might open up the video output signal and be different in CC setup than CS6?
    Thanks!

Check the cable  does not have an air gap at either end.
    Sorry ... no other ideas.

  • Using external LG monitor with 180 degrees rotated display

    Hey everyone,
I just got a 19" widescreen LG monitor and I have it mounted upside down, so I rotated the display 180 degrees. However, when I move my mouse over links, the arrow jumps a little and is incredibly aggrivating. Has anyone seen this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? It happens in Safari too and I already tried re-calibrating my monitor and restarting. Thanks.

Me too, but my LG monitor just stopped working after I installed the recent "Thunderbolt Firmware Update".
Literally the monitor was working yesterday. This morning I installed the update and now it's broken. Great update.
    Anyone have a fix?

HI. I am using windows side of my macbook pro. Yesterday, for some reason, the computer quit recognizing my 2nd monitor. But I don't know how to do this. Help would be appreciated.
