GPP Delete Printer not removing HTTP/IIS printer on Windows 7

I'm in the process of updating our print server (Server 2003 R2) to use generic functional queue names instead of the queue names comprised of hardware model and location created by my predecessor. I've been creating a duplicate queue with the "proper"
name, and applying it using the GPP Printer option, as a "Replace/Remove when no longer applied" printer. In this same policy, I'm including the queue being replaced as a Delete printer. Both of these are being created as a Shared Printer.
I'm able to delete the old queue from my XP/Windows 7 clients when I use \\print-server-hostname\Old Queue Name in the Share Path, for those systems on which the queue was added through "Add a Printer". However, most of the printers were installed on an
individual basis through the IIS printers page on the print server. Windows XP doesn't seem to differentiate the IIS printer from the true networked printer - it lists them both as "Old Queue Name on Print-Server-Hostname," and removes the IIS printer the
same as the \\ queue is removed.
The problem is with deleting the IIS printer from my Windows 7 clients, where it shows up as "Old Queue Name on http://Print-Server-Hostname". I can't seem to find the right string to use in the Share Path field to target the http:// print queue to
be deleted from the Windows 7 client. I've tried "http://print-server-hostname/Old Queue Name", "Old Queue Name on http://print-server-hostname", "http://print-server-hostname/printers/Old Queue Name", but nothing seems to work.

Safari for Windows will not log into IIS sites with Windows Authentication enabled. The IIS log has thousands of login attempts from Safari that result in 401 errors.
I disable Windows Authentication on IIS and it works fine. The problem with that is that my Windows clients stop working properly with seemless logins when I disable this.
The expected behavior is that Safari will work with basic authentication when NTLM does not work. That would result in a password prompt followed by a successful login instead of Safari stopping at "Loading" while hammering the IIS logs.
It does this on all machines that I have tried.
Any ideas or is this a bug?

I noticed that as well. I have to wonder if it's due to not making note of the the different end of line characters between Mac OS X and Windows in code.

GPP Delete policy not working on Windows Server 2008 R2 RDS when deleting shared printers with status access denied.

I Have one AD Security group for each shared printer, I have one GPP that map the printer if the user is in the security group that belong to the printer. And one GPP to delete the printer if the user is NOT member of the security group. The security group
is also applied in “Security” tab on the printsrv with PRINT rights and “everyone” is removed. This works 100 % on Windows 7 clients and Windows 2003 Terminal Servers. But on Windows 2008 R2 RDS this dont work.The Delete Policy will not delete the shared
printer. No warning in any logs, and the gpresult shows that the gpo setting applyed sucessfully. The only way I can make the Delete policy work is if i give the user print rights on the printer on the printsrv. Looks like for the policy to work on 2008
R2 the user must have print rights on the printer object on the printserver. The GPP Delete Policy will not delete printers that have status : access denied. Anyone else had this problem?

Based on your description, it seems that we need to give users appropriate permissions, for the error
Access is denied is more or less related to permissions.
However, we can avoid deploying the GPP printer delete policy. As far as I know, we can use Item-Lvel Targeting of GPP to push the shared printers
to the targeted users or groups.

Deleted meetings not removed at subscribers

We have a mobile me account with a published calendar that everyone in the office subscribes to. When a meeting is removed from the calendar (because it was cancelled), it still appears in all subscriber's iMacs that are running OSX 10.5. Those of us with 10.6 get the correct calendar.
We tried refreshing the subscription, restarting the computer and the meeting is still there. All computers are up to date in their updates.
Is there a way to fix this in 10.5?

I can't say I've encountered that behavior myself.
On the 10.5 systems (try on one and if it works you can do them all):
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
If the issue persists I would delete the calendar publication from the originating computer and then republish it (preferably with a slightly different name on the calendar).
Then have everyone re-subscribe.

Some emails not deleting or not showing up in my Mail window.

My Mail program is having many problems--Some emails will be deleted but show up again when I reopen my Mail window, I cannot see emails in my draft folder, and there are times when emails sent to me are not showing up in my Mail window. I've redownloaded the mail program using my Tiger disk three times, but it never solves the problem. I'm about to reload my whole Tiger software, but I'm afraid I'll lose my 10.4.7 updates.

OK. In order to fix the problem, we need to re-create the index. Problem is, Mail may or may not choke on those messages while re-creating the index, so either be prepared for it or perform the optional steps 1 and 3:
1. (Optional, but recommended). Try to find in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/ the *.emlx files associated with the troublesome messages. Viewing the *.emlx files as List in the Finder showing the creation/modification date may help. Just identify them; do not get rid of them yet (you must quit Mail first).
2. Quit Mail.
3. (Optional, but recommended). If you found the troublesome *.emlx files in step 1, move them to the Trash.
4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
5. Locate the Envelope Index file and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
6. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/. Locate Deleted Messages.mbox, and move it to the Trash. I assume there is nothing to be preserved there.
7. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate the *.mbox folder that corresponds to the mailbox you created to try to isolate the troublesome messages, and move it to the Trash. Again, I assume there is nothing to be preserved there.
8. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder.

Deleted message not removed from iPhone Inbox

Since updating my iPhone 3G to 4.01 I have found that when I delete messages from the inbox the messages are not completely removed from the inbox. I am left with a blank unread message. The only way I can completely delete is to turn the phone off and restart. Is anybody else having this problem? I have also found that I lose service in places I have been able to use the phone.

Deleted files not removed!

Hi, I allocated some pictures to crash can, I empty it and then when I open it again Aperture those deleted file appear again in the same previous location, what should done in this case?

It seems to be a bug. It is indeed a species of "combine pdfs" and if you save the changes all the tiffs are present in the single tiff file where you dragged them, and vanish from their place in the file system. If you don't save the changes they are not in the file, but they aren't "put back" to where they came from either. This ONLY seems to happen when the all the files involved are tiffs. Combining PDF files was OK, no matter what no file got lost. Combining a tiff with PDFs worked the same way as all PDFs. So it seems to be a problem with TIF files only. And unless you have backups of your extremely important files I would say they are gone.

Deleting, but not removing files

When you delete a file from iTunes but choose not to send it to the trash can where does it go? How can you restore it to iTunes?

to add it again (if you have not deleted it), just "add to library" and browse to the desired file.

Recently, the delete key and rt click delete do not remove a message. Have to restart T'Bird to be able to delete a message. Using v 24.5.0

Using Thunderbird 24.5.0, W7, up-to-date in fixes
The delete key and the right click delete suddenly don't delete a messsage.
Restarting Thunderbird and then they both work.
What should I be looking for?

Oracle Services are not removed from system (10g, on Windows 2003)

I haven't used Oracle on Windows Os before and not sure what to do.
Here is what happened
1- I installed 10g on windows 2003 server, created a database with service name OPER
2- I was unhappy with the installation and removed it.
3- then I installed Oracle 10g software again, creating a database again which has name IZROPER
now, there are two of every oracle service in the services.msci
service names containing the first db's (OPER) are still showing up in services, how can I remove them?

Do those entries have a yellow star at the far right?
If they have then they are bookmarks. You can remove them if you open that link and click the star to open the Edit This Bookmark dialog and click the Remove button in that dialog.

Try these steps below to clear the print queue. The steps are listed for Vista and Windows 7 and would be slightly different for XP. If you are using a Mac then the steps below would not work. Please advise what OS you are using.
Option 1)
1. Click on start orb
2. Type in search window: "services.msc" (without the quotes)
3. click ok
4. Scroll down to Printer spooler service and click on it in the right side window.
5. On the left side click stop the service and wait forthe process to stop
(Do not close the window yet. You will have to restart it here later.)
6. next delete the print job in the printer queue
7. then restart the spooler service
8. Resubmit your new print job.
Option 2)
If that doesn't clear it, the next step would be to stop the spooler
service as stated above
Go into windows explorer
(Print job data is collected and stored in a spool file in the spooler
folder.)
It is located in:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
Your print job will show 2 files there Example below:
00002.SHD
00002.SPL
Delete the files located in there. There may be several of them
depending apon how many print jobs you submitted. You will have to
resubmit your print jobs all over again.
Next go back to services window and restart the spooler service

Print Jobs not clearing "Deleting - Printed" message from Print Queue

The jobs print fine but the message Deleting - Printed doesn't clear from the print queue.
The two printers having the issue are HP Color LaserJet 3550s using the External HP JetDirect en3700 (J7942A-61033).
Our Print Server is an HP BL25P running MS Server 2003 Enterprise Edition / SP2. This issue started about two weeks ago only on these printers. I downloaded the newest drive (dated 2007 version 61.63.461.41).
I have deleted and recreated the printers on the Print server and installed the new driver. Still having the same issue. To clear the Print Queue we have to restart the Print Spooler Service on the Print Server.- this causes the "Deleting - Printed" jobs to print again which could be days / weeks after they were originally printed.
We don't want to keep having to restart the Print Spooler.
Any one having a similar issue and know off a fix. I have tried everything I have so far found on the Web.

I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.

Cannot delete print job

One of my print job is on permanent "hold." The problem is I cannot delete it (neither from the toolbar nor menu), nor can I resume it. I just stays permanently at the top of the print queue. Even after restarting the computer, restarting the printer, it stays there. How can I delete it? Is there some terminal command or such that allows me to delete print jobs?
The printer is a HP J6480.
It's not a major issue, but irritating. I have set the printer icon to "auto quit," but it never quits due to the held job.
