Help!! My brother tried to load music on my iphone 5 and synced the wrong device on itunes and lost all contacts and photos
My brother synced an old device to my iphone 5 from itunes and it overwrited all my contacts and photos with everything
from the old itunes device. HELP.. how can I get back all my photos, contacts and apps? Would itunes have saved this
somehow when the device synced?
I'm devastated - we just moved from Boston to Cali and loosing all my info. tonight has crushed me! Any help is so

If you've been using your phone as recommended in the User Guide, you've synched your contacts with a cloud service like Google, MobileMe or iCloud, or with a program on your computer like Address Book or Outlook.
Your contacts should still be safe in those programs and ready for resynching.
If, on the other hand, you've relied only on the iPhone to maintain your contacts, then you have just learned a valuable lesson, and this is why is is NOT recommended by Apple.
Likewise, it's recommended that photos get uploaded from your phone to your computer for safe keeping. Did you do this?

Looks like you restored your backup file to her phone. If you didn't back up your wife's phone first, then the data is gone, sorry.

Earlier this year my computer suffered a corruption of the video card on my Dell Inspiron. This involved a need to reinstall Windows 7. Following this itunes re-installed and imported my library perfectly. I syncronized my ipod and all seemed well. Since I have downlaoded musiv and aded cd music to the library. I notice that when I sync the ipod (160 GB Classic) it only recognises the songs that were re-installed after the fault. I have tried uninstalling itunes and starting again but it makes no difference.
Imported library from where and how?
The correct way to handle this would have been to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the backup drive to the new computer.
If anything else was done, it is unlikely that iTunes recognizes the media on the device as being the same media on the computer. -
How to add only selected music to my iPhone not sync the whole iTunes library

I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 4. I have some music on my iPhone, and quite a bit on iTunes on the MacBook. I want to transfer selected tracks from the MacBook, but when I click on 'Rushenette's iPhone' and select 'Music', I have the option to Sync but get a message saying everything on my iPhone will be overwritten with the contents of my iTunes library.
How do I keep the iPhone contents the same, but add a few tracks from the MacBook?

But... I bought the tracks on the phone via iTunes, then later transferred purchases back to the MacBook. All my music is in iTunes already. The MacBook has the complete set, the phone has a subset.
Now I have some more stuff on the MacBook (in ITunes) that I want to put on the phone, but I don't want to fill my phone with the entire music library, just add a few tracks. -

How can I get them all Back ???Have had the same issue - and conflicts between PC, Ipad and Iphone. Gained 6000 names and lost contacts or contact contents. Have had to edit on PC. Spoke with Apple Express and was advised to do editing only on PC and then sync. Was also told not to use Icloud until problems had been solved. Have spent last two weeks recreating my contacts list.
Haven't yet bothered to reclaim my missing paid ring tones. -

You synced your iPhone with iTunes for the first time after how long?
And this didn't happen by syncing only. This means you transferred the backup for another iPhone or you restored the iPhone with iTunes. It is not possible for everything to be lost by syncing alone. All iTunes content on your iPhone can be lost but not any photos in the Camera Roll and the same for contacts unless you synced contacts with an empty address book application on your computer. -

Hi! I was browsing my facebook account when my iphone 3G restarted on its own. The apple icon appeared and when the "restarting" process was over, I lost all my installed apps, the contents of my phonebook were gone, all text meassages saved were also gone. It was as if I had a new phone again. I am really lost now and I don't know if there is a way of retrieving my contacts and my messages. When I tried to revert to a previous back up, the only one was the one that was done right before I downloaded the new OS. All other previous backups were gone. In addition, I bought 40.00 worth of extra storage space to back up to iCloud and had to start it over several times before it finally worked...25 hours later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am MAD that the new OS download procedure deleted EVERYTHING in my contacts. The only thing that remains are my favorited phone numbers but none of them are labeled so I have no idea who anyone is except I sort of know where some people were on the list. This is HORRIBLE and so far I've seen hundreds of these exact kinds of posts all over the Net, not just here on the Apple website. I've done everything I could on my own and tried several things that have been suggested by other Apple users here in the forum. Nothing has worked and evidently nothing was saved to my iCloud storage, either. Now I'm having to pay for a 1pm phone call with tech support that I'm sure will cost me a freaking fortune to tell me that I'm screwed-and that'll be 75.00, please.

How do you add musci to the Iphone? I just installed itunes 11.1.5.5. Now the format in Itunes is changed. when I am trying to add music to my iphone, there is no longer an add button under the Iphone device. Why did they have to change this? Can anyone help, Im tryiong to add music.
Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.

I am having the same problem. I have just tried this. Unplug iphone > open itunes > delete all music from itunes library > close itunes > re-open itunes > add music from original folder > plug in iphone > select songs > press sync > unplug iphone using eject button onscreen > checked phone .... still nothing in music folder on phone. On itunes the "On this iphone" tab the songs remain there but greyed out.

TM said HD full, deleted all backups and then told me about it.
I have a 500Gb Firewire drive for Time Machine. The other day Time Machine deleted all backups because the disk was full and then told me about it. I would expect that this shouldn't have happened, is that correct? What can I do to stop it happening

The install wizard stops and "rolls Back" the install and just gives the attached notice of the install error...how can this be corrected? The notice is inserted first and the stopping point is second.
