How do I query ink level in Epson CX3650 with printer-gui

Hi,
When using the printer gui in KDE to query the ink level on my Epson Stylus CX3650 I get the following error message
Cannot open /Stylus CX3600 read/write: No such file or directory
But when I use the command line tool I get
[rene@archer mtink]$ escputil -i -r /dev/usb/lp0
Escputil version 5.0.1, Copyright (C) 2000-2006 Robert Krawitz
Escputil comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type 'escputil -l'
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
under certain conditions; type 'escputil -l' for details.
Ink color Percent remaining
Cyan 22
Magenta 26
Yellow 27
Photo Black 55
Has anyone noticed the same problem, and perhaps know why the gui doesn't work?
My user is in the following groups
[rene@archer mtink]$ groups rene
lp wheel video audio optical floppy storage users
The commands "Clean print head" and "Print nozzle test pattern" work fine in the gui.
The commands "Align print head" and "Printer identification" gives the error
Error
Please specify a raw device
I have in other distros succesfuly used mtink to query the ink level, but when I tried building it from aur, I get a dependency problem with gimp-tool. I'll post a seperate post about that in the aur section later. (I'd rather get the kde printer gui to work first ).

With pleasure!
Great to know it worked for you

  • AiO Remote Ink Levels etc not accessible with USB connection

My printer prints and scans just fine...except that it ran out of ink after about 15 pages. I'm trying to view the ink levels, but everything in the HP AiO Remote says it's not supported with the USB connection. There's no other way to connect my printer. I need to view the ink levels and be able to put in new ink, but I can't because the software isn't working right. Help?

    Hi @HnnhSmth95,
I see by your post that you are unable to view the ink levels by a USB connection. I can help you with this, but I will need some more information.
What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.

  • To check ink levels I am told to print self test. page from cpu or printer.

There is no way to print a test page on my" psc 2410 all in one" connected to a HP cpu with Win 7, 64 bit. Is there a workaround/

The page here shows how to print a self-test report from the front panel, but it does not appear to have ink level information.  I have not used a PSC 2410 for years, but the following may give you what you need:  press the # and * buttons together on the printer.  The screen will say "Enter special key combination".  Press 1 2 3.  This should bring up a service menu.  Use the right arrow button repeatedly to bring up a "Special Reports" screen, OK, then right arrow to select "Cartridges" or some similar, then press OK. A page will print with ink level information shown about the middle of the page.

How to check ink levels of a 4620 using windows 8.1

    Hi krmoss,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I see that you would like to learn how to check the ink levels on your Officejet 4620 printer.
The steps on how to check the estimated ink levels can be found in your User Guide on page 74 in the section titled “To check the estimated ink levels from the printer control panel”.   If you have installed the full feature software and driver for your printer onto your computer you can open up the HP Solution Center and check the from there as well.

  • No Low Ink Notification / How to check ink levels

I don't know how it disappeared, but I no longer have an HP icon, and never get low ink notifications.  I have nothing "HP" in program files, so can't figure out how to check the ink levels.  Every time I lose color I have to change both cartridges.  Printer prints fine.  Any suggestions?  Hopefully I don't have to disconnect everything and start installation over - there's always a chance it won't work when I'm done.  Technologically inclined Im not.  Thanks for any assistance you can give.  Printer is PSC1510 All-In-One.

If you press the Cancel and the Start Copy Color button on this printer at the same time and release them, it'll print a Self Test Report that'll have an ink level gauge on it. you can check it there.

  • PSC 1210 Mac OS 10.6 Scan multiple pages into one pdf., and ink levels

Now that I upgraded my Mac OS to Snow Leopard (10.6.8), I have needed to scan on my HP all-in-one psc 1210 either from Preview or from Scan & Fax in System Preferences. Once I scan a page and that page opens up, I AM able to scan additional pages, but each becomes a separate document. The only system driver available from HP is print only and also doesn't include a utility to check ink levels. Can someone help me with these two issues? (1) how to scan multiple pages into a single pdf. doc with my configuration, and (2) how can I check ink levels
    This question was solved.

    Hi C_Maier,
I can not see the available options when it is disconnected. A screenshot when it is connected would be best. I have done some research though, and believe the option to select 'save all pages to a single file' may only be available if your printer has a document feeder, and of course as you know, yours does not
I know with 10.7 and higher the option is there even with flat bed only printers. You might consider upgrading the OS.

  • Ink level saver

I purchased a HP 2540 all in one printer and go through the black ink like no business.  My question is, apart from the conserve black ink box, is there another way to conserve on the ink.  I cannot seem to find any button that allows me to print in draft style.  I print a lot of medical records to QA and those are pretty lengthy.   I am using a MacBook Pro and an HP desktop all in one.  Any advise on how to save on ink levels would be really appreciate it.

    Hi @BobDaBear
You should be able to change the Preset in the print dialog box to fast draft. Using fast draft will save on ink as the printer feeds the paper through quicker and lays less ink on the page.
    I hope this helps.

Hi there zydeco123!: what you have to do is go thru your software menu options to see if it will give you that option
On my Photosmart 7520 I have a two way option to either show the ink level warnings full time or when needed
