If I gift songs or a CD on iTunes will it take from my gift card balance or from my regular account?

It'll take it from your credit card. Money redeemed from a gift card can't be spent on gifts or otherwise transferred to another iTunes Store account.

  • How can I use gift card balance that is on one account, on another account?

I have 2 iTunes accounts.  I have money on one of the email accounts, but most of my apps are under the other email account , so I can't use my gift card money on my apps.  How do I combine these, or how am I able to use my gift card balance on the other account?

  • I have a gift card balance of 25.78 and when I have purchased a song and an app it is charging my credit card. WHY???

I have two ipad2s and two iPhone 4s on the same iTune account. I have a gift card balance of $25.78. I have purchased a song on one iPad and an app on a different iPad using the same iTunes account. Both times I have been charged the amount to my credit card and my "credit" balance or redeemable balance has not decreased. Why is this happening?  Why won't it take it out of the gift card balance?  Please help if you can. This is frustrating. I didn't think I had to do anything special once I "redeemed" the card and put them in the account to use. At first it was deducting the amount from the credited amount when I was initially buying songs. Now it's not. It's so frustrating!

  • When we purchase from iTunes the balance is not coming off of the gift cards. We have family sharing on but when my kids purchase songs they are credited to our credit card and not the gift card that is already in their account. What's wrong?

  • HT2736 Can I transfer my gift card balance to another user?

Can I transfer my gift card balance to another user and if so, how do I do that?

No, you can't do it directly nor can you use it to buy another card to gift.

  • I have an itunes gift card balance on my account however I want to use my credit card to pay for songs. It automatically uses my balance and doensn't give me the option of using my credit card. In detail how do I change it or must I use my balance first?

I have an itunes gift card balance on my account however I would rather use my credit card to pay for my music downloads. I cannot find an option to choose credit card over my balance, it just automatically uses my gift card balance instead. Is there a way to change this? I have gone to account settings but cannot find a way to do this. Does anyone have any detailed information on how this could be achieved? Is it even possible? Thanks so much in advance!

Sorry, but there's no way to force the iTunes Store to use your credit card. If there's a credit balance available, purchases will be deducted from that first.
    Regards.

  • How do I transfer a gift card balance to family members in family share

Ok well I just realized that the account associated with my Family share will only access my credit card and not my gift card balance.
I had two $100 gift cards which I redeemed into my account thinking we could all share the gift card.  Little did I know that only I can use the balance.
I know I can just purchase the app or the song and then they can download it for free but it's a pain in the butt if I'm not home to do this.  Is there anyway I can transfer the funds to my wife and kids??  Oh and to top it off I've since thrown away the original gift cards so there is no way to remove the funds and place them back on the cards.   Thanks in advance!

Open the App Store on your iPad.  Scroll all the way to the bottom in the "Featured" tab.  You should see your Apple ID there.  It may indicate that you have that credit balance.  If not, click the Apple ID button you see there and sign in if necessary and then click "View Apple ID".  You should see the credit balance.
It will apply to your app (or iTunes music) purchases automatically.

  • How do i use my gift card balance to pay for a purchase?

I redeemed my gift card and it shows the balance by my name in the top right hand corner but when I select a song to purchase, it wants me to enter my security code on my credit card instead of using the gift card balance.

This is how itunes verifies your account.

  • Itunes - How to use a credit card with a remaining gift card balance

In iTunes, I'm running into an issue where I have a gift card that is tied to my account and i have 4$ left on the card. I want to buy a song using my credit card, and I have successfully entered my credit card information into my account, but I don't know of a way to explicitly buy a iTunes song and charge my credit card rather than having it pull from my gift card's remaining balance.
Please let me know if there is explicitly charge your credit card even with a remaining gift card balance. In recent songs that I've bought, iTunes has been automatically defaulting to use my registered gift card rather than the credit card I have on file.

I'm having a similar issue: just redeemed a gift card for $25. I can see it in the upper right corner. Yet when I select a song to download, I am (again) asked to sign in and select a credit card to use. I don't want to use a credit card, I want to use the $25 card. This hasn't happened to me before now. If I click the 'redeem gift card' option in the credit card screen, it correctly says that that card has already been redeemed.

  • ITunes won't use my gift card balance to purchase apps.

I have a $12 balance from a $15 gift card and twice I've tried to buy an app & it won't deduct from the gift card balance. What do I need to do? Is it just certain apps (Wipeout & Plants vs Zombies)?

Thanks, Dah veed.  I'm more concerned that it's not taking the balance...which it still isn't happening.  There are select apps it will take from the gift card balance and then others it won't.  There is a $7.04 balance...and then she bought appls & songs and it was all charged to my account.
I think I'm going to have to reach out to Apple.

  • HT201303 have a gift card balance but is asking me for my credit card

Will it charge my credit card or deduct from my account balance and the gift card i have redeemed

I have a gift card balance that I can't redeem.   I found what I wanted to buy but don't see an option to bu/purchase/download or anything like that.   Where did that choice disappear to.   All that is available is Gift the song, Tell a Friend,  Share and Copy Link.    REDEEM isn't the answer because it asks for the code from the gift card.  That code was already entered when I first made a purchase from it and now have a balance.    Can Someone Please Help Me. . . . .I've spent 2 days reading blogs and trying different things but can't seem to figure it out.

  • Lost Gift Card Balance

I signed out of iTunes to let a family member sign in. When I signed back into my account, my gift card balance disappeared. I purchased a song and it was charged to my credit card rather than to the gift card. Any ideas on how to retrieve the balance or how I could contact Apple about it?

  • How do I transfer an iTunes gift card balance to another computer?

How do I transfer an iTunes gift card balance to another computer?
I redeemed an iTunes gift card on one computer in the house, but don't have a home network/sharing set up. I want to be able to use that balance on another computer in the house. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

+When I use this computer to order something, the charge is placed on my credit card that I used for the account and the iTunes card balance is not getting deducted.+
Sounds like you live in Canada and are buying apps. Gift card in Canada can only be used for music and movies, not apps. The apps will use the credit card instead.

  • How do I use my gift card balance

I followed directions and clicked on the Redeem button.  I entered my card number.  I show a $100 balance.  When I try to purchase music, it only takes me to my credit card information.  There appears to be no way to pay with my gift card balance.  How do I purchase music on iTunes with a gift card?

You still need to confirm the credit card information that is associated with your account. Once you do that when you make a purchase it will be taken from the gift card amount. The most common bit of information you need to confirm is the security code for the CC.

  • How can I use a credit card and NOT my iTunes Gift card balance?

I have an iTunes gift card balance of $25 already on my account.
American Express has offered me a $5 iTunes credit with a $5 purchase if I use my Amex Card.
When I make an iTunes purchase will I have the option to choose to use the credit card instead of the existing gift card balance?
    thanks,
    Rob

It worked, I gifted myself a $10 iTunes Gift and it came form the credit card so it only cost $5.
    thanks,
    Rob
