Try doing a click-and-hold on the Time Machine icon in the Dock, then select "Browse Other Time Machine Disks".

My Time Capsule will not work through Time Machine but need to back up because my hard drive is corrupt. I hard-wired it to my MacBook Pro and have been dragging files to capsule in finder window. Will I have problems since it's flashing yellow constantly

My Time Capsule is constantly flashing yellow and it will not preform periodic back-ups. When I tell it to from the icon on the top task bar, it freezes MacBook...every time. I am now dragging files from internal HD to TC found in Finder after hardwiring it to laptop treating it as an external HD. Can in trust it to store files and photos as my MacBook is telling me to back-up because my internal HD is corrupt and may need replacing?

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

New MBP (OS X Lion) and can't use dial up. Now what?

New MBP with OS X lion and found out I can't use dial up. It appears I can't use an external modem. What are my options? Satelitte, mobile hot spot with Verizon, ??? I live in a very rural area in North Idaho so no cable or broadband. I currently have iphone5 with Att but at my home it's on extended network so I don't think having a moble hot spot with them would work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi babowa, OS X Lion is not compatable with Apple USB external modem as sated on other threads and on Apple support. My land line company is Frontier and they do not offer DSL service. Believe me I have been checking with them every 2 months for the last 2 years and I keep hearing its not slated for your area yet.
I do have an ethernet port on my MB but only a standard phone jack on my wall so a ethernet cable wouldn't do me any good.
When I bought my MBP a couple of weeks ago I said I only had dial up internet connection and the store personell said I needed a "56k to USB adapter" which they didn't sell but I could pick up at Best Buy. They had one for $50 (I forgot the brand) but I didn't want to shell out the money until I knew for sure thats what I needed and because of their return policy. like I said I'm a novice so maybe I'm confused on the terminalogy. Is the "56k USB adapter" the same as an external modem?

I used Migration Assistant to copy data to an new MacBook Pro from an old via my Time Capsule. When asked if to inherit time machine history on the new Mac, I mistakenly said no. How do I go back one step to say yes?

There isn't enough space on the Time Capsule to create a separate backup of the data on the new MacBook. And I am reluctant to delete old backups of the old MacBook to create space to backup the new machine. This occurred about 3 weeks ago so the data on the two machines are now out of sync. If I start over by formatting the new MacBook and rerunning Migration Assistant to pull data from the Time Capsule, how do i preserve the last 3 weeks of data on the new MacBook, considering that I didn't keep track of which files changed in the last 3 weeks?

All the rest of the stuff is where it should be. As best I can tell. I have been going through my programs one at a time to see what works. With the change in the OS (Launchpad? What the heck?) I am finding a significant number of my old programs are not working. Some I have found upgrades. But without a working mail program, the machine is pretty useless for work.
The Apple techies had me run through 3 hours of 'stuff' (holding down keys and restarting, etc, etc). It still does not launch. I think we are waiting for a 'miracle', but I need to know now if they should just come get this piece of junk or if they really are able to find a solution in a timely manner.

Have brand new iPad 2 16G 3G and can't get past the first screen saying 'connect to iTunes' even though the usb is connected to my computer which has iTunes downloaded. We bought 3 iPads and I configured my sons ok but the other 2 are not working.

Time machine won't backup. Says disk is full ( stand alone disk). Souldn't it delete enough to create new backup. Last backup was 7/20/11. When I click "enter time machine' it goes to mail screen and nowhere else.

Use Migration Assistant on your new Mac:
Click Continue:
On the next screen, choose your Time Machine backup disk.
Don't bother to migrate Applications unless you know they will work on your new Mac. For example, PowerPC applications won't work. Just migrate your user account which will copy all your photos, music, movies, and other documents.
Note: you will not be able to migrate the information to same account in which you are already logged in. Migration Assistant will tell you that and recommend what to do. It can migrate the information to a new account, but you will have to give it a name you might want to change later. One way around this is to create a temporary account, log in to it, and run Migration Assistant which will replace your normal account. Then, log out of the temporary account, log in to your usual one, verify everyting works as you expect, and delete the temporary one.
All this can be avoided when you set up a brand new Mac by running Setup Assistant which essentially does the same thing to create your new account, but most people are too excited to do that and elect to migrate later.

Lion comes with FaceTime. Look in your dock or in the Applications folder.

It looks like you haven't got them on iCloud. On your Mac, open Pages and drag the Word documents to the iCloud window
