Images missing GPS info in photo library

hey everyone,
I've been using iPhone taking picture and screenshot, import images from other app like GoPro App, wechat, etc,
I'm pretty sure before not only the photo taken by iPhone build-in camera has the GPS info, the rest image also has that GPS information, it was before my recently update.
Now i'm using iPhone 5 with Macbook iPhoto 9.6.1, all the images except those taken by iPhone build-in camera are missing the GPS info!!
Can anyone tell me what just happened? is that update really did something, or there is an setting I can bring them back?
thanks for the answer..

yeah only by two years but as there was over 100 views and no one bothered their backsides to reply with a "constructive comment" i decided to be helpful for the next 100 people that view this page. they will also see this comment and ur last snarky one. so good for u! (i wish there was a ******* emoticon to place here)
i never actual use these forums, only came across this Q while browsing google for some developer info on ios gps dictionary keys and why ios when taking pics wont use the gps acquired date/time for the kCGImagePropertyGPSDateStamp//kCGImagePropertyGPSTimeStamp in photo meta tag fields even tho it has the gps co-ords stored. i'll stick stackoverflow so
no point asking wjosyen thats for sure even with his level 9(?) because god knows what useless comment he will reply with (so in these discussions boards can u win points in give-aways or in follow the dots drawing competitions?)
joking aside, be serious now, u got them points somehow, u must be in some way clued in so why bother commenting here like that if u cant be helpful wjosten? in future just provide a more helpful answer if u can, if not dont bother, really!!

  • My iPhoto images won't show, and Photo Library Repair will not open when I command-Option-click on the iPhoto icon.

Some of my iPhoto albums will not show, as below:
When I click on any of those individual albums, for a brief split second I can see the images displayed, but then they revert to this:
Then if I click on any of those images, this image appears:
I have real a lot of posts that say to click Command+Option while opening iPhoto and this will open the Photo Library Repair window, but... this is not happening. Each time I do it, iPhoto just opens as it normally does. I've tried about 10 times, closing iPhoto completely. I've tried through the dock icon and through the applications listing. Neither will open anything other than regular old iPhoto.
Can anyone help me and suggest what I may be doing wrong, or are there any alternative was to open Photo Library Repair so I can rebuild my library? I really don't want to lose all of those photos, especially since some are really important and irreplaceable.
    Thanks.

Be sure you're holding the correct keys and that you're holding them long enough. Depress them before clicking on iPhoto and don't let go until the menu shows up.
If you don't want to lose those photos, make a back up now. Hopefully it's not too late.

  • GPS info in photo

We took a picture at a small fruit stand in Puerto Rico. We'd like to send the owner a small gift. Is there'd a way to find the address from the GPS info in the photo?

  • When playing a slide show there are many nonvisible photos.  They appear as "image cannot be edited. The original is offline."  Where is it and how can I get it back into my photo library?

How can I get all my images to show in my photo library?  When playing a slide show some of my photos have a message "Image Cannot Be Edited.  The original is offline."

    What version of iPhoto?
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

  • Edited Images do not appear in iPhoto Library Display

I edit my photos using Photoshop Elements 4. If I save the modifiations under the same file name the changes appear in my iPhoto library. If howerver I do a "save as" and modify the name of the file, I don't see the new version of the image in iPhoto. If I search by name I can see the modified photo (located in modified folder) and can even print it using Canon Easy Photo Print. I just can't get the image to appear in my photo library. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
PS: Any idea when Adobe comes with a verion of Photoshop Elements integrated for MAC?

If you do a "Save as," you're defeating the interaction between PE and iPhoto. If you do a "Save," iPhoto will of course retain both the modified (saved) version and the original "out of the camera" version to which you can always revert.
It appears that you want a third version and that's your reason for a "Save as." Don't put that file inside the library - iPhoto will never know it's there (as you've discovered). Save this file on the desktop. Then, separately use iPhoto to "import" it into the library. Afterwards, you can trash the file that's on the desktop.
"PS: Any idea when Adobe comes with a verion of Photoshop Elements integrated for MAC?"
I consider the two apps to already be integrated quite well.

  • Get files from the Photo Library programatically

    Hi All,
I want to get the image files file from the Photo library of iPhone and add them to and array of images and then wanted to display them one by one on a view so that it looks like animation. But I dont know hoe I will get the path of internal file system of iPhone on unlocked iPhone .
I know that we can use the UIIMagePiker class to do that but in that case the Photo application is invoked and then we select the image from the gallery instead i want to do this internally without any user interaction.
Also let me know if we can delete the images from the gallery once shown in the view.
    Any Help is appreciated.

Or there is the long, laborious emailing of each photo to your email account....
I know it's a long workaround but, sigh, that's all I can come up with at the moment, either that or publish them to your web gallery and download them from there back onto your macbook

  • After a rebuild/repair of my photo library thumbnails are missing for RAW images.

Every few months I rebuild my iPhoto library to make sure the database stays clean and up to day. This time was different though - after the rebuild/repair of my photo library thumbnails are missing for all RAW images (Canon). Images from other cameras and jpegs are all fine. Only the events with Canon RAW images have no thumbnails.
I am rebuilding the thumbnails once again but has anyone else seen this issue? Losing thumbnails to RAW images during a rebuild?

Every few months I rebuild my iPhoto library to make sure the database stays clean and up to day.
There is no need to do this. It doesn't achieve anything.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

  • All my photo's are missing from iPhoto and I'm getting a message "your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"

Yesterday when I opened iPhoto all of my photo's were missing.  After many hours of frustrating time looking how to resolve, I decided to try again this morning.  When I tried to open iphoto, I got the message I referenced above regarding the library is either in use or has become unreadable.
My photos are not in iPhoto anymore.  There's nothing there.  iphoto acts like its never even been set up.    I have iPhoto '11 version 9.4.3. I have OS X Lion version 10.7.5.  However, when I go to "All My Files" and then under "images", there are over 10,000 images.  I see my photos (I guess it's all of them - i have no idea how many there were) and other "images" also.  When i go to "pictures" I only see the 15 or so items I have scanned.  In "iPhoto Library", there is 1 picture of what looks like a deck of playing cards with flowers on them - I don't know where that came from.  But also in "iPhoto Library"  under the heading "desktop", it shows a size of over 27GB and under "kind" it says "package".  Still under desktop and "Photo Booth Library" it shows 53GB and under "kind" it says "Photo Booth Library".  Before I opened iPhoto to view my photo's, I went to "empty trash" yesterday (not in iPhoto) and it showed over 65,000 items to delete.  There were no more than 200 that I could actually see.  So, I don't understand.  I let it delete a couple of thousand before I stopped it because I didn't know what it was doing.  I know - not too smart.  I don't know if that has anything to do with iPhoto or not; I'm just throwing that out there.  Today I went to "empty trash" and it now shows the 200 items that I can see in there.  Don't know what happened.
I do have a time capsule but not sure if I’m using it correctly. If you were to tell me to restore to a certain point, I’d have to be walked thru the process.
I downloaded “iPhoto Library Manager”, not exactly sure how to use it, but got a message basically saying the library nor the database could be loaded and that album data file for the library “iPhoto Library” could not be read.
I’ve spent hours and hours and hours searching the web for answers but I’m scared to do much of anything thinking I could end up losing all my photos if I haven’t already.
    Please help!
    Thank you!
    James

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • HT201302 Old iphone 3g has photos on it. When I plug into my imac iphoto and image capture only bring up photos in the camera roll. There were more photos on albums and photo library on the iphone that arent showing up in iphoto and icapture.

My old iphone 3g has photos on it. When I try to get the photos off and onto my imac iphoto and image capture only bring up the camera roll. I have more pictures that arent on the camera roll there are albums and a photo library full of pictures that I want off of this dang phone. I have tried everything and I cant email them to myself because the service has been cut off of the phone. They are stuck on the phone there is there any way to get them off? Am I missing something.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
Again, the photo sync is one way.
Did you fail to maintain a backup copy of your old computer?
Not good.  You can e-mail the photos from your iphone.  You do not need to have phoe service for this.  The iphone uses wi-fi.  The photos will never be of the original quality, as they are reduced when synced to iphone.

We have no way of knowing. Maybe you did or maybe you didn't. If you don't tell us what version you have, how could we know?

  • When syncing large database of photos (107,000 photos) constituting nearly 35GB, itunes takes forever on "importing photos" even if i select only 1 folder of 10 images. Windows 7, IPAD Air both latest versions. photo library is on my local internal HD .

i tried selecting a folder with less than 50 photos as my source, importing photos phase still takes longer than what sounds normal for such a small number of photos, but the job is done nevertheless.
But what is worth noting, is that even if i run another pass of sync without touching the photos section (i.e. neither adding nor deleting any photo from the previous sync) it still takes the same amount of time on the "importing photos" phase.
when i select the actual photo library folder as my source (the one containing the 107,000 photos); at that point even selecting a subfolder in it that contains merely 10 photos generates the same dilemma.
i tried photoshop elements, spent like 4 hours building my library there, hoping that if i select it as the source in the photo tab in itunes, things would work out for the better, i was mistaken!
at this point am really out of options, and need some serious help.
    few extra diagnostic infos:
the above manifests even on other devices like my iphone5.
the computer used is not exactly top notch but works for my Autocad drawings, i figure it should suffice for itunes (Dell Pentium D 3.19Ghz, 4GB Ram, 3TB HD, running windows 7 (32bit) ultimate)
the above persists when i sync wirelessly (not a USB bug issue)
please any help is appreciated, if you need further details, kindly let me know

  • My IT department transferred images from my Blackberry to my Iphone, they are in "Photo library". there is 1500  images, many are duplicates and when I hit edit, delete is not an option. how do i delete the duplicate images?

my IT department set up my Iphone and transferred the images from my Blackberry. I have over 1500 images showing in "Photo Library" and lots of them are duplicates (same image). When I hit edit it will not allow me to delete them, delete is not an option shown. How do I get rid of the duplicates?
In Photo library, when I hit edit the only avail options are share or add to. Please help, i dont want 1500 images on the phone.

Are they really duplicates or are you simply referring to the Photo Library?
Just as a song is in your itunes library and the exact same song can be accessed via a playlist, all synced photos are in the Photo Library and those exact same photos ( not duplicates) can be accessed from the chose folder/album.
You delete these pica the same way you put them there.  The sync process.  Deselect them in itunes and sync.

  • Photos 1.0 not showing all images from Photos Library.photoslibrary folder/file after update install

I installed the update that changed my iPhoto to Photos 1.0, and the new Photos program is not showing all images from Photos Library.photoslibrary file/folder (not sure to call it file or folder since it is actually a folder with all my pics but it acts more like a file) after update install.  The Photos Library.photoslibrary file/folder shows to be 55 gb in size, and it shows to be loaded into the photos program, but there are maybe a few weeks of pictures showing instead of a few years.  Lots of pictures in the 55 gb are not showing for some reason.

No - iPhotos has not replaced anything - it is new and an addition - iPhoto is still on your system in the applications folder and still works just fine
Outlook is not supported by Photos - not sure if the support must come form Apple or MS as Photos uses a different interface to external packages than iphoto did

    When what is clicked?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Whole photo library missing from iCloud

Connection to iCloud photo library and Mail has been flaky in the past 48 hours.
I noticed missing photos on the iphone last Saturday night for the first time.
All photos taken prior to October 14 have since then gone missing from the iPhone5S.
(pics are still available on my iPad3 and my iPhone4 running iOS 8 and 7 respectively).
Have been trying to check the content of my photo library on iCloud several times using Safari to no avail. Connection times-out and the support form appears.
Please note that I can login to my account no problem and all other services like Note, Reminders, iWorks documents, Calendars everything works just fine.
The problem appears to be related to only the photo library.
Tonight I have tried on more time to check if things were back to normal but even the photo library icon has now disappeared. (see below picture)
A clear sign that something is not working properly on the server side IMHO.
Interesting enough, iCloud system status is not reporting any problem with the servers and if I take a new picture with one device it syncs with the others.
After two days I am now getting a little impatient and wonder what else could I do to solve a problem that appears to be at Apple's end.
I have tried to contact online support but ironically they ask me for a serial number in order to proceed. It seems like iCloud customers (I am a paying one) are left on their own. Quite disappointing..
Any ideas as to what to do and/or how to report this malfunction?
    Thanks and regards
    Pieter

Things have started working again first on the iPhone but not on the Mac via the browser interface.
Later on the day I got the photo library icon up and down but still no access to the library.
Tonight things are finally back to normal. Thank you guys for pointing this out.
Surprisingly, still no acknowledgement of any kind from Apple's side regarding a server trouble, if any.
This was a severe blow to my trusting into this cloud service as well as a reminder to ALWAYS BACK-UP no matter what.
Better to be safe than to be sorry
