InCopy Licensing

Hi,
I'm using CC for my small business and my licence is used between my iMac and my Macbook. I have a main client who I do magazine design work for who are based down south (I'm in Scotland). I'm really keen to get an InDesign/InCopy workflow going as it'll save us a lot of time and mean that they can ake their own corrections etc.
Do I need to but a new licence for InCopy for them to use or is there any way to extend the licences I hold? I won't be using InCopy at my end.
Cheers
NS

They will have to buy their own subscription to InCopy.

  • InCopy/InDesign question

Can inDesign users edit InCopy-created stories that are laid out in InDesign (without an InCopy license)?

Hurry and buy CS5.5 now. You can work that with one exception. Remote packaging won’t work.
Dropbox is very good alternative to that. But again. HURRY! Come Monday CS5.5 won’t be available and nothing will work.
You should be eligible for a free upgrade to CS6 as well.

  • What can I do if my InCopy serial number is considered invalid?

I have InCopy 5.5 and just purchased CS6, but installation process reports that the serial number on my InCopy license certificate is invalid. The license is for 7 seats, but I only need one copy of CS6 at this time. How can I finish installing my purchased CS6?

if your cs6 is an upgrade and cs5.5 is not installed you will be prompted for both serial numbers.  make sure you're entering the correct serial number appropriate for the prompt.
if you're certain you're using the correct serial numbers, contact adobe support:  http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html

  • About licensing InCopy among many copy-editors

Some publishers want to begin using InCopy with external freelance proofreaders and copy-editors.
They will buy 3 licenses what they think is ideal.
The point is that these people sometimes are hired (for speciality or capacity) and discharged (and six months later required again...)
It is possible to «lend» the InCopy for one person and later for another?
The idea is only have active the three ones.
It is possible to concert this and maintain control?
    Thank you

Citrix is a solution that provides virtual access to servers, check out http://www.citrix.com/lang/English/home.asp.
However this is an expensive solution, which will require Citrix experts to implement.
    Sorry.

  • Can't get newly-installed Adobe InCopy to open/create files

I have a user's computer which I upgraded the OS on (10.4.11 to 10.6.5), and afterwards I went to check to see if InCopy runs. It couldn't open any files. After awhile, I realized that it couldn't do File->New either. If I open a file, spinning beachball of death. If I launch the app without a file, I can wander about the menus fine, until I do File->Open, which brings up an OpenPanel, or File->New which brings up a panel with some page configurations. As soon as I click on the "OK" or "Continue" button in one of those panels, it's over -- spinning beachball, with Force Quit the only way out. So
I started over -- ran uninstall and install -- here is what I have done:
    1. Ran the uninstaller, ticking the remove preferences option.
    2. Put all remaining InCopy files that I could find in the trash, emptied the trash.
    3. Ran the CS5 cleanup tool which I found on the adobe support site. (It cleans up CS3 and CS4 installs, too.)
    4. Looked around for Library/Preferences/Adobe/In Copy is root Library and each user's directory, trashed everything.
    5. Used applejack to fsck the disk, repair permissions, clean system and user caches, clean up virtual memory.
    6. Rebooted, logged in to an administrator account, ran the "Setup" program inside the InCopy installer. Put in the license number, set it to install everything on the list (recommended).
    7. Used Get Info on the /Applications/Adobe In Copy folder to set its permissions and the permissions of all files down the tree to read+write for everyone.
    8. Launched InCopy, Clicked on File->New and hit "Continue" on the panel. Program hangs.
    9. Force Quit InCopy.
    10. If I use AdobeUpdate to Update to 6.0.6 I get exactly the same behavior.
    11. If I update to 6.0.5 I get the same behavior.
    12. If I try to open an existing InCopy file, it hangs the same way.
    13. Enabled the root account repeated the entire rigamorole as root.
    14. Deleted In Copy and associated files as root, installed as administrator.
    15. Try running as root and as (non-privileged) users.
My own computer runs InCopy just fine, giving these messages to the Console:

I can watch the Console on the machine where IC hangs, it gives all of those expected Console messages, until I go to open the file, and there are no messages after that.
Anybody have any clue as to what I've broken? We have InCopy alone or InCopy as part of the whole CS4 in multiple machines, and everyone else's works just fine.

Nah, plenty of disk space, and was able to install and run photoshop later without incident.

  • InDesign CS5 and inCopy CS6 workflow problem

I've looked at other discussions and haven't found any to answer the question to our problem.
We are a small publishing company and we have license for roughly 7 inDesign CS5 copies that we purchased a year ago.  We contract with outside editors to edit content for us using inCopy.  For a year there hasn't been any problems.  But any new contracted editor we now sign, which in turn purchases inCopy, we are having trouble with our files talking to one another.  Any new contracted editors are only able to purchase CS6 inCopy.  This leaves us with the problem of having inDesign CS5 on about 7 or so of our employees machines and 6-8 CS 5.5 InCopy on outside contracted editors and an additional 3-4 contracted editors with CS6 inCopy.  When the editors with CS6 inCopy try to open files from our InDesign CS5, either they won’t open at all, or they will open, the editor works on the project for awhile, their program crashes and they are not able to recover (re-open) the files again.  Which results in hours of lost work.
Has anyone else come across this problem?  Is there a work around or a quick fix.  We would hate to have to upgrade to CS6 for all of our in house copies of InDesign and then ask our outside editors what do have inCopy cs5.5 to upgrade to CS6.
If this is the case, when CS7 comes out, and we hire additional outside editors, will we continuously have to go through the process of upgrades again?  This is too costly for use and our existing contracted editors.
Any thoughts are assistance would be appreciated.
This is one of the error messages received from an outside contracted editor using inCopy CS6.  The file crashed after several hours of work, when the editor went to reopen the file, they received this error.  Which looks to be a generic error code that doesn't tell us anything.

    Hi Ruffus,
Unfortunately different versions of InDesign and InCopy do not work well with each other. Newer versions of the program should be able to open older files, but they cannot save backwards. I am not sure what is causing the errors with the newer versions of InCopy however.
Are you able to open the CS6 InCopy files on your computers?

  • InCopy CS6 and InDesign CS6 workflow

Hi there, I just started a 3 day per week job at an architecture firm. They have about 35 staff, and use Word to format some pretty hefty reports. They are in one column, rather ugly and doesn’t reflect at all the professionalism of the firm.
I’m looking at trying to integrate the workflow, so that they can maybe use InCopy and InDesign together, effectively replacing Word for report use. I’m only in 3 days so it’s impossible for me to use a Word > InDesign workflow with the amount of changes (mostly last minute and to tight deadlines). It just takes too long. The architects and historians need to be able to write these reports themselves, with my skills coming in when it's the final format ready to send to the client.
We have licences for about 5 copies of InDesign CS5 at the moment, and 35 licenses for Word, so we’re looking at the costings and if the InCopy to InDesign workflow would work well for much of the communication here. The report writers use hundreds of images/diagrams in each document, and all these have captions, so I guess it’s important to use an inline compatible design where the users can add images in InCopy and these are brought over to InDesign without too much fiddling around at the end.
The aim is to have the report writers use a collaborative system, but using corporate open type fonts that display well on screen. We are using Trade Gothic, and it doesn't represent on screen very well at all. The report writers hate using it, especially as their zoom size in Word is normally around 90%.. The other problem is the lack of layout optiions with Word. The reports could save hundreds of pages just by using a 2 column system which can save rivers of blank white space within text.
Also we need the ability for the writers to be able to add images and resize/rotate landscape portait format etc.
I’ve downloaded a trial version of InDesign CS6 and InCopy CS6 so am just checking things out and testing it at the moment.

Using Dropbox for InCopy/InDesign workflows works really well. You keep all your projects in Dropbox as though it was a networked, local server.
I will be doing an hour-long session at PePcon (the Print + ePublishing Conference) on "The state of the state" of open source or low cost editorial workflows, covering InCopy, Word, GoogleDocs, and InDesign plug-ins. Really great conference to go to if you're using InDesign for publishing. (note: I'm a co-host, too.)

Sales Opportunity has been put in Stage number 2 directly. In other words there is only one open row in the stages tab which happens to be the 2nd stage out of 7 stages.
Also, ran SELECT * FROM OCLG WHERE OPRID='60' - this query gives no result rows.

  • Incopy and bridge

Is it possible to purchase a license for inCopy and Bridge, or do we need to also have Photoshop?  Thanks

Bridge is not specifically tied to any licensing and should be available with any Creative Cloud plan.

  • Trial version of InCopy

if I download the trial version of InCopy, I can become a complete version to buy my license? and I can install on mac?

    Hi Daniel,
That's correct. InCopy supports both Windows and Mac OS.
If you have the trial version now, there is no need to uninstall it. Simply purchase your license (for InCopy CS6 and below) or Creative Cloud membership (for InCopy CC), and follow the direction here to license/activate your full version: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/serialize-creative-suite-6-trial.html
Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions.

  • InCopy on Citrix

We're experimenting with installing InCopy CS4 on a Citrix Virtual Machine. We're getting the following error... (BTW, we have enterprise license)
This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

Once it's been chosen it should be remembered. Just to be safe, do it
with no documents open and then close down the application.

  • DPS Enterprise License for Apple's B2B Store

    Hey everyone,
we developed an app and successfully tested it on our iPads via DPS. We aim to distribute the app via the B2B store from Apple and the tutorial PDF from Adobe tells me that we need an "Enterprise license" for DPS.
Our company uses Adobe Creative Cloud and I am wondering now whether this already  means that we have an "Enterprise license" for DPS, as well?
    Cheers,
    Alex

    No. It does not.

  • Adobe Muse APTEE Licensing NOT WORKING!!

    Hi,
I am an IT Professional working for a major University in Missouri. We have an Apple computer lab of 26 20" iMacs, all running Adobe Creative Cloud with an Enterprise license. This license includes Adobe Muse (with its own serial number). We use Active Directory to manage users/group policies on all computers, and manage users on our Apple computers.
According to Adobe's support site, you can create a prov.xml file using APTEE and then apply it to serialize the Muse product installation for a computer lab environment.
I can only get this to work for EXISTING users. When a NEW user logs in to his or her account, they run Muse, and it asks for a subscription, as though Muse is not serialized. According to Adobe, you click on Existing Subscription anyway, enter your Adobe ID, and then it should still open. It doesn't..........it says the "subscription does not have a license for Adobe Muse" and gives the option to BUY or QUIT.
    HELP!!!!!
