InDesign 5.5 does not meet system requirements

Hello,
Currently I have a much older version of Adobe creative suite, CS3. But I am currently attempting to install CS5.5 Master Collection onto my MacBook OSX 10.6.8. As I get to the Install options, I choose Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign 5.5 as those are the programs I use most. However, though both Photoshop and Illustrator meet my system requirements, InDesign 5.5 does not. I have no idea why InDesign does not meet my requirements. And I would like to wait before installing the programs on my computer as InDesign is the program I use most for my work.
I would just like to know why InDesign is not compatiable with my current computer and to see if there is a possibility to resolve this issue.
Please let me know if I should be more specific with my questions.
Thank you,
Peter S. Yang

Hi, Peter Y.: (FYI, "Peter" seems to be among the most popular names on this forum.)
Please note that Adobe's method of numbering ID releases is confusing in any language. "CS 5.5 Master Collection" is the full and correct collection name, but it's also the full and correct release name of the ID component it contains, as in "InDesign CS5.5," whether referring to the ID component that is integrated into the 5.5 Creative Suite, or to the single ID CS 5.5 product bought outside any Creative Suite collection.
On Mac, the About InDesign menu item under the InDesign menu will show a different number, just to make things crazy. ID CS 5 in the About panel is "Version 5." ID CS 5.5 in the About panel is "Version 5.5." In the early days before suites, ID 1.0 was version 1. When suites came in, for whatever reason, the new numbering convention came with it. It's absolutely guaranteed to baffle folks in the same way that, in Paris, "the left bank" of the Seine doesn't relate to which direction you're facing - it's always the south bank.
As Peter S. says, newer installing a newer InDesign release won't damage an installed older release. However, just to be super-cautious, keep in mind that installing a component from within a collection that has the same number as an existing installation of the same product that wasn't part of a collection may cause problems. For example, if ID CS5.5 was purchased as a single product and installed on a computer, installing ID CS5.5 from a collection may cause damage; perhaps someone on the forum knows if a warning message would appear in a case like this.
Also, it's well known that installing an older version when a newer version is already installed, can cause problems. For example, if ID CS5.5 is installed, installing ID CS5, ID CS4, ID CS3, etc., will cause problems. The issue is that some newer-version files reside in the same location as same-named older-version files, and installing older versions overwrites the newer files; the installers don't catch this problem, and so there's no warning message.
HTH

Peter Gold

When I follow  the screen upgrades, I reach an error message : Notice: Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BB App World. I have a brand new phone so first question...can I upgrade App World over Wi-FI. or do I have to get a Data Plan from my Telco first ? • Blackberry 8800 - does not meet system requirements for app world

hi, i have recently boght a second hand blackberry 8800, which was o2 and now has a tesco sim card in it, running V 4.2.1.101.
The problem is that i can't get app world to download.  I can browse, and use BBM so my blackberry browsing is on?
I have phoned and checked with Tesco, and as far as they can see i have the data plans etc, just possibly need to update my OS.  But when i plug in to the PC and run an update check it says there are none available.  Also, the requirements for App world are V4.2 which i have, so i am getting a bit stuck now.
Any help would be great as I'm getting a bit annoyed now!!! TA
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The requirement for running AppWorld is not  OS 4.2, it's OS 4.5 according to the download page on www.blackberry.com .  That's where you're running into problems.  Updating your OS would solve that.
    Here's the link stating that:

  • Hard drive "does not meet the requirements" for system updates

    Hi,
I'm running 10.2 and I'm trying to update my computer to the more recent version, except that I've gone through the update downloads on this site and anything higher than 10.3 tell me I need to run 10.3 to run it. When I tried to upgrade to 10.3, I was told that I "cannot install this software on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update". What does that mean and how do I rectify the problem? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Kappy! I have a similar problem: I had a problem in the past and had to re-install the system. I now have a previous sytem folder on my mac which I do not dare touch. I used to have a later version than 10.3.3 (I cannot remember which). I am now trying to update with the 10.3.9 combo update (just bought a new ipod) and I get the famous "does not meet the requirements" message. I have repaired permissions and done Onyx maintenance - still nothing. I wonder whether somehow the installer detects that there is already some newer component installed and does not want to re-install. I am awfully frustrated... Thanks in advance for your help.

  • ECM Employee Does Not Meet the Requirements Error

We're receiving an error on the ECM compensation planning iView for certain eligible employees.  It says, 'employee does not meet the requirements to proceed with this action' error.  Have you seen this error before?  If yes, then what fixed it?  These employees are eligible on IT758 records.

    I can think of this:
    Scenario 1
Configuration setting in V_T71ADM08: Anytime review is checked for your review.
System response: Dates in V_T71ADM10 are not checked and you are able to process the review.
    Scenario 2
    Configuration setting in V_T71ADM08:
Anytime review is not checked for your review.
    Selection period 01/01/2010 - 04/15/2010
    Review period 12/31/2009 - 12/31/2009
    Configuration setting in V_T71ADM10:
    Effective Date 3/31/2010 (fixed)
System response: Error as the effective date is March 31st 2010. The review will only be effective for that day. Anytime review does not check this date as explained in the 1st scenario. I think you need to remove the fixed effective date and use the effective date begin and end date as 01/01/2010 u2013 04/15/2010. You would then also uncheck the anytime review setting in V_T71ADM08. I think the review period in the same table should also match the effective dates.
    Hope this helps.

  • My computer does not meet the requirements for iTunes 7.7

Okay, so I think all these problems that I'm having are because my new computer does not meet the requirements for iTunes 7.7.
The requirements are listed here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
I checked my system and I have:
    1. 1.60 GHz instead of 2GHz
    2. 511 MB RAM instead of 512 MB RAM
I have no idea how to check MB for video RAM or MHz. Since it's not shown in system I'm assuming that this computer doesn't have any.
The system requirements compared to mine are just off by a bit, but could this still be the problem?
Also, could I use an older version of iTunes that will work with my system & could you please post the link for the download.
    Thanks in advance.
