[iPhone SDK] uniqueIdentifier: Does it need to be encrypted?
Hello,
I'm writing an iPhone app that connects to a server to fetch data. I want to use
[[UIDevice currentDevice] uniqueIdentifier]
to keep track of what gets downloaded to what phones.
Do I need to encrypt the Unique Identifier before I transmit it to my server? Or is it ok just to leave it as is?
Thanks,
Joe
It's usually good practice to store/transmit any data encrypted. Whether sensitive or not, the traffic is still susceptible to interception.

System-wide alarm in iPhone SDK
Is there an equivalent of CalAlarm class in the iPhone SDK? Does anyone know how else we can set a system-wide alarm?
Until push notification is added to the SDK, you cannot set a system-wide alarm.

my iPhone 5 is not catching up my website, although having a big screen... What does it need to get the pages in auto mobile queries converting?
You need to code your web site to recognize the mobile browser and send a page that's actually usable when it does.

IPhone SDK custom installation, what do I need?
FYI, I will be developing iPhone Apps only and don't want to install unnecessary things.
Options are:
Developer Tools Essentials (Required.)
iPhone SDK (Obviously need.)
System Tools (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
UNIX Development Support (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
Mac OS X 10.3.9 Support (Know I don't need, not developing anything for OS X, particularly not an old version.)
WebObjects (Do I need? It's NOT checked by default.)
Thanks.Hi--
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
System Tools (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
I would suggest "yes." That's the installer for the performance tools. Shark, especially, can be invaluable for profiling your code.
UNIX Development Support (Do I need? It's checked by default.)
I'd suggest "yes." It's command line tools you might want at some point (to help in automating builds, etc.). Some aspects of scripting with OS X can also be made easier if you have the UNIX dev support installed.
WebObjects (Do I need? It's NOT checked by default.)
Definitely not, that's a web application framework you'd use if you were building a web site.

i just bought more icloud storage, why does it not let me backup my iPhone 5..says i need 1.4 GB of space?..I just bought 10 more in icloud.
I think you are confused. Syncing apps and music to your phone will not get store in the cloud by adding more cloud storage. If you don't have enough space to sync the music and apps, buying cloud storage won't help. If you have a 16GB phone, the phone still only has 16GB for apps and music even if you buy 10 mor GB of cloud storage.

I am going to japan with an Ipod nano and Iphone 4. Do I need a converter? or does the one the iphone comes with that plugs into the wall enough? I know i wont need an adapter because it will fit into the wall outlet, but voltage wise, will i need a converter? Japan runs on 100 V. I am so confused on all of this...
As long as the adapter is 2 pronged, then you should be able to use it without any problems.

Can I track my iPhone from my iPad if I have not activated the 'find my iPhone' on my mobile? Or does this need to be set up already in order to search for my phone?
No.
You needed to have set it up prior. -
Does iPhone SDK support the feature of data transfer via Bluetooth or USB?
Hi,
I'm developing a application in which I want a feature for data transfer either using Bluetooth or USB.
Does iPhone SDK support this feature of data transfer via Bluetooth or USB?
Please help me.
Thanks. The SDk doesn't deal with BlueTooth or USB. Your only option is wireless data. (WiFi, 3G, etc)

Do I need an iphone SDK?
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of XCODE but I keep running into references to iphone SDK (software development kit) and I'm not sure what it is. I want to make iphone apps so is iphone SDK some kind of software I need in addition to XCODE? It would be great if someone could tell me everything I need to make iphone apps.

just got an iphone 4 from my dad and its his old iphone and i was gonna delete his account so i can put my account on the iphone but he does not remember the password so I couldnt delete it. I need help deleting it without a password.
If the iPad has Activation Lock - that is, it's asking for the previous owner's Apple ID and password to activate the device or to turn off Find My iPhone - then you will need that information. There's no way around it If your father can't remember the password, he'll need to recover it.
http://iforgot.apple.com
If he can't do it via that page, then he'll have to call Apple Support and ask to speak with Account Security.
If that's not the "password" you meant, please post back and clarify.

I have synced an iPhone 4S with iCloud - I now have a 5C to replace it. What happens to my data when I retire the 4S - does it need the original device to save my data?
Welcome to the Apple community.
Once you have restored your new phone from the backup of your old phone and ensured that everything is working correctly, you should first turn off "find my phone" on the old phone and then erase it, before you get rid of it.
