Is it possible to have a user interface in a stand alone application without having LV

Hi!
I want to know if it's possible to build a stand-alone application in order to avoid purchasing LV and at the same time having a user interface to display data?
I really want to know what are the advantages of the stand-alone applications and what are their limits of use?

If you have the application builder (included in LabVIEW professional and above) you can make a LabVIEW application that can be distributed and run on machines that don't have LabVIEW installed. If you only have LabVIEW full, you can purchase it seperately.
The target machine requires the LabVIEW runtime, which is freely downloadable from NI, or can be included with the installer of your application.

i don't think you could ever protect the jsp code and it wouldn't do you much good to bother anyway, since anyone with a browser can just "View Source" and see all the HTML on the page anyway.
the only thing you would want to protect is your java source. you don't have to distribute the .java files with your application, just the .class's. you could try and obfuscate the .class files, but a determined person will always be able to reverse it back to a .java program and read it. it would take a bit of work and knowhow though, so figure out how smart the consumer is going to be and if they will be able to figure out how to reverse .class files back to .java

I have installed the LabVIEW 7.0 run time engine and checked all in the advanced setup on the installer setup slide. but I still get such a message saying that the target computer needs to have LabVIEW 7.0 run-time engine. What I want is a real stand-alone application even without having labview ... I used to think that's due to my program contains MATLAB nodes. But this is not true, since even without Matlab, it's still wrong. Please help, thanks!!!

As was stated elsewhere, you have the option of building the runtime engine into your application when you build it. However, you can also create a "runtime engine application" by simply opening the application builder and doing a build without adding any source code files. The result is a small program (named lvrt.exe) that can run any LabVIEW code--whether or not its built into an executable.
Such an application can be helpful if you are wanting to install several LV-based applications on the same computer in that it reduces the amount of redundant code on disk. All you have to do is make sure that Windows on the target computer associates the llb and vi file extensions with the runtime engine program.
It can also be helpful during testing to run test code that isn't built into an executable.

What I need a user interface with x,y axes. There will be two points (P1,P2) in the graph, and they can be moved both in x and y axes interactively by the user.
I attached an ugly looking image to give you a basic idea. The question is, what component should I use to represent points?

I returned to working on the interface i mentioned before. I am still waiting for help.
Now, to summarize again, I have two points on a diagonal axis on a chart; P1 and P2. P1 and P2 will move along this diagonal axis, and the corresponding areas (red, yellow and green) will change in size depending on the points. i know that Flex has vertical and horizontal sliders, but not a diagonal slider. Furthermore, a slider has only one button, whereas I need to have two buttons on a slider.
In the new picture you see a horizontal and vertical sliders. I need to combine both of them into a diagonal slider

the simplest solution:
1. make a horizontal (or vertical) slider.
2. put it in a movie clip.
3. rotate the movie clip to the desired angle.

HT1420 I have used up the amout of authorized computers for one account, however two of them have crashed. How can I deauthorize those two without having to deauthorize the other three?

I have completed my list of 5 computers authorized. I am trying to authorize another one but I need to get rid of two authorized computers which hard disks have crashed. How can I deauthorize those two without affecting the other three?

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but if you've reached the 5 computer limit then you can log into your account and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.

New guy here.
I'm trying to set up somekind of Schedule for me to be able to use my mac only in the morning and only in the evening.
Parental control seems to be able to allow me to do that if i set up two different accounts and assign time limits and schedules for each one. But the problem is that i need to run some programs on both accounts and keeping the same settings throughout both accounts. Is like if i wanted to have one single account but split in two different users.
Any help on this? Thanks in advance!

You have two accounts and you can enable fast user switching to quickly switch between active accounts.
Any program installed in the Applications folder is global, so either user can open the same program into memory (I think, haven't been confirmed, don't see why not) as it just copies it into memory.
However the users setting for each program is placed in the users account folder. Say for instance the programs preferences.
You can't run two instances of the program at the same time, nor will they continue running when you switch out of a user account, it just keeps it in memory.
The Users/Shared folder is just that, it's global file holding account to share when switching between user accounts, however if the file is already open on one user, it's not going to open for the other.
If you want to pernamently drop files into antother user account, you use the Public > Dropbox and it's one way like a mailbox, stick it in and only the other account can access it.
Hope this assists.

Is it possible to have the synthesizer interfaces for the included LOGIC PRO synths in MainsStage as a standalone?

I recently purchased MainStage as they included the instruments from Logic Pro and In the help files it shows the LOGIC synths with the nice GUIs for each included synth; but it seems you have to recreate all of the parameter controls for each synth if using only MainStage as I can not find how to view the synthesizer interfaces. Does anyone know if this is the case or is there a way to tweak the synths using the nice already layed-out interfaces that are in Logic?

Using Testexec user interface with test stand

I want to use the testexec UIR (from cvi) with my Test Stand sequence. My goal is when this operator interface is opened directly, the specified sequence opens automatically.

You can approach this 2 ways:
1- Hard code the name and path of the sequence file into the CVI code and rebuild testexec.exe.
2- Associate .seq files with testexec.exe such that when someone clicks on an .seq file it opens in the UI. Then place a shortcut to your sequence file on the desktop and have users start it by clicking on that.
I recommend 2.
As a side note: By default a UI will open the last sequence file that was opened.

You could use a JEditorPane. It supports HTML 3.2. There you have to register a HyperlinkListener. I think you have to set the editable property to false, too.

Is it possible to install the latest version of CUBAC stand alone ?

I am in the process of upgrading our phone system. We have a receptionist who does not use the current call manager software. She is near retirement and prefers to use the telephone instead of the software. With that said is it possibe to install the latest version of CUBAC on a free standing workstation or is a server required? If a server is required can it be a Windows 2008 32 bit server or must it be a Windows 20043 32 bit server.
We're trying to keep our server count as low as possible. This is the reason for my inquiry.

On a Lenovo laptop, completed the download and restart and got the video which proceeds very slowly because this is Africa! How do i have a image thumbnail that can zoom to fullscreen without having the arrows for the gallery sliders?

im only looking to do it with single images maybe a caption , but wothout having to have teh area where the dots/nubers / sliders go
if i just drop an image son it doesnt seem to offer trhe fullscreen option

iBooks images don't zoom or respond to pinch any way I would expect. They will expand a bit, but snap back to size when released. Even worse, you can't make a picture a link.
I have heard that you can make an empty text box, lay in on a picture, and then link that, but I haven't tried it. Even if, I don't know if you could link it to an object in the book file. I think we're out of luck for now on this.
