Is there a way to sort by songs that require a password or marked with !

My laptop was wiped clean and I had to fetch all backed up songs from external. Now many songs have ! marks next to them and others require an old user name and password. Is there any way to view these by sorting so I don't just have to stumble upon these messed up files?

Yes. It's called Date Added. In Song view enable the column by pulling down View > View options and select "Date Added."

btw I've found a workaround - to create a playlist with the order that I want, but it's harder to scroll through long playlists and it requires more actions every time I add a song, so please don't tell me to create a playlist.

I'm wondering if some of the playlist bugs from the Nano 5G have made their way into the 6G. One bug in particular is this: Create a smart playlist in iTunes and set it to sort any way you want (e.g., by artist). That sort order should be synced to the iPod. If you change it in iTunes and resync, the sort order on the Nano should reflect the sort order in iTunes. On the Nano 3G and my iPod classic, it is. On my Nano 5G, it is not. This is a known bug. It's actually a bit worse than that. The order on the 5G seems to always be by artist with a few "odd" songs thrown into the beginning of the playlist. If you always shuffle, it's not a big deal. I never shuffle.
I have been holding back on buying the new Nano until I can determine whether this and other playlist bugs have been fixed.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Your music should be there.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases
In the U.S you can redownload past purchases: Open itunes store, click Purchasd, under Quick Links

I use my Mac with Adobe Creative Suite (3) to make files (jpeg) that are formatted for cell phones to make animated and static wallpapers for phones to make a profit and i got a new printer because my old printer broke. on my old printer it would show on the desktop or in the finder sidebar as "epson17401..." I could put a micro SD in the printer and put files on there and take it out and put it into the phone with no problems with no problem. Now with this printer (Canon Pixma MX870) when i try to put the same kind of files on the micro SD memory card via printer it asks for a admin password. So i used to put files on daily but i can't ask the IT person EVERY time i want to put a file on. So my question is in parents controls is there a way to say that it is okay to put files to that drive without the need for a password?

I think parental controls only restricts. It doesn't grant additional privileges that weren't already there.
While logged in as an admin, check the permissions on the SD drive and all folders inside it. Make sure they are all set to give everyone read and write permission. Then try it again as an unprivileged user.

The problem is, Im afraid. that your database has been corrupted. I don't know of anyway to track down the photos that have been dropped from the db in the process, and re-importing them - if you could - would be to import to an unstable and damaged entity.
Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file. If not, then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars, modified versions etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Events to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I have just downloaded itunes on to a new laptop and when I have tried to tranfer the songs from my ipod on to it I was only able to tranfer the songs that i had purchased through itunes.

Ideally you would transfer you working library, or a backup of it, from your old computer to your new one. If that's not possible then...

Is there a way to sort a playlist on my iPhone alphabetically by Artist? I can do it when I view the playlist through iTunes on my computer, but when I view it on my iPhone's iPod, it is sorted by the date the songs were added. I add the songs through iTunes, and I can sort it by Artist with no problem in the iTunes window. However, when I look at the playlist through the iPod on my iPhone, the new songs are down at the bottom, no matter who the Artist is.
If it matters I am running iOS 4.3.10 on an iPhone 4 and I have iTunes 10.4.0.80 on my computer.

Ottonomy, here's what to do.
Connect your iPhone to your computer and open the iPhone's playlist in an iTunes window. Copy/Paste the entire playlist into a new(!) playlist in iTunes, not on your iPhone. Then resort the playlist. After you sort it, Copy/Paste it to a new(!) playlist on your iPhone. Now delete the old playlist on your iPhone and rename the new playlist the name you want it to be (probably the same name as the old playlist).
The downside to this method is that you have to do it every time you add a song to the playlist. Unfortunately, I don't think there's another way.

I noticed that the "Year" information and "Release Date" information are usually wrong.
For example, the song "The Twist" by Chubby Checker has 2007 for the year and 3/5/2007 as the release date. I understand that this is the release date of the greatest hits compilation album, but not the song.

This can be easily done by making a new playlist...
First, check out Apple's page with additional scripts and how to activate this functionally.
Then, check out Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes here for managing Artwork. He has some that will help you find songs lacking artwork and even one that will make a playlist with such. Also if you wish to remove artwork he has a tool for that as well.
To find artwork from say... Amazon... which isn't exactly legal.. search at a download site and you will find one of many utilities available to use.

If they are on the iPod there are third-party programs that will transfer then to a computer. See:
