KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

Hi,
what is the functionality of 'KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER' in SAP

Dear sridhar
KT or Knowledge transfer is Like when u r replaced by someone or when u r moved to some other project in that case some other functional consultant is coming in place of you.
So whatever work u have done.It has to be explained to him ,that means u r transfering your knowledge to him so that he can understand what customization and the business process that has been understood by you.And can take over ur charge.

  • J2EE Applications Knowledge Transfer

As a result of a rebid, the Company A for which I am working recently won a contract that had been administered by the Company B for the past 7 years.
To fully possess the application that was built by the Company B, I am preparing a list of questions (see below) to facilitate the transfer. Because my skills in the field are not quite up to the task, I am inviting comments and suggestions to ensure a smooth knowledge tranfer.
Particularly, I have no prior experience in the areas of building an application to Dev, Sat, and Prod and releasing an application, what should I ask in order to possess the knowledge in building and releasing an application?
Here is the list compiled by me:
    1. Provide software application development documents; e.g. uses cases, sequence diagrams, class diagrams, and etc. If the aforementioned documents are unavailable, what are the document standards followed? And please provide those documents.
    2. Provide the User's Manual for the software application developed
    3. Provide access to software application code version control repository
    4. List the application development environment
What is the operating system used? Is it the Windows (which version)? Or UNIX (which version)? Or both? Or others?

What is the portal server used (which version)?
What is the IDE and its version used for software development? The Eclipse? The NetBeans? Or some other IDE?
What is used for version control? CVS? Or SVN? Or something else?
    5. Provide application production server configurations for code development and deployment
    Examples:
Services configuration; such as data source, connection pool, transaction services, messaging services, cache services, authentication services, etc.
    6. List the application development languages used and their respective versions
Examples: HTML and XML and their derivatives? XSL and its derivatives? Java? C#? AJAX? JavaScripts? Sevlets? JSP? JavaBean? EJB? Perl? VBScript? and etc.
Is the application web based? Or it is also a wireless application that uses WML or some other technologies to render data onto hand held devices
Is the Web Services technologies; SOAP, WSDL, UDDL, and etc., used in developing the application?
    7. List all the code development tools and their versions used for the application code development
    8. List all the frameworks and their versions used for the application code development
Examples: Struts, Spring, Hibernate, and etc.

    Dear Lakshmi Nese,
Knowledge transfer means making you at par with your project mates in terms of knowledge. This is generally done for long term support projects. When you join a project which is running say for quite sometime, to induct you in the project Knowledge Transfer  (KT) is given.
For upgradation part, knowlege transfer is very important. It will help you to find out what is in the existing system and help you to resolve the objects after the upgradation is over.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.
    Regards,
    Rakesh

  • CRM 5.0 Knowledge transfer doc

    Hey,
I am looking for a doc on knowledge transfer for CRM Solution to Basis guys . .
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with this . .
    Regards
    Vijay

Unfortunately, our limited exerpience makes it tough to know if the issue is with the CTI integrator or CRM.  We have a different integrator AMC with Cisco very few issues.  The CTI integrator should have logs where they can view the data passing thru their tool.  In CRM t-code CRM_ICI_TRACE can be used to used to see the CRM user data.  if the user has a PID with CRM_ICI_TRACELEVEL = XXX then more detail level is provided.
We have not experienced the issues you have described.  Every blue moon we get a user gets in catch 22 where they can't hang up or end  (hang up says not in a call, end says to end the phone call 1st)

    Hi,
please use the search before posting --> search the forums, the internet, sap help.... You will find the information you want. Questions like yours are too general and so against the rules. Additionally they will motivate others to post tons of links which is also against the rules. Feel free to ask in case you have a specific question.
Happy posting with following the rules.

  • Step by step approach for the best knowledge transfer

    Hi Guys,
I am looking for the step by step approach for the best knowledge transfer of SAP different modules. Can any one help me for the same??
    Thanks in stack

    Hello,
I'm currently working in a very big project, and there, it's organized like that:
Some time before GoLive, the teams were mixed (project team were mainly external consultants), and for every external consultant, an internal ressource was assigned to take over the tasks. Then, there's a time of parallel work, but automatically, the internal ressources take over more and more of the tasks, and finally, one by one, the external consultants are "phased out".
We defined, what documents had to be delivered for hand over - ppts describing the general issues, a system management manual describing the administrative steps and so on.
And: to check the performance of the hand-over of the tasks, there were weekly or biweekly meetings with the external ressource and the internal counterpart, where the status of the task handover was analysed.
    kind regards,
    Carl

2 - Learn and See when some specific transaction had done at Front end side
of Application how the records are effected in the back end side..
Check The relavant Code in the Back end . Business Logic.
3 - Follow this process.. by the time you can able learn how the domain
is working and its relavant tabels, procedures and packages etc.,
4 - there will some remaing things like reports...which are depending on the

Hi, I am in a different situation where we will be taking over support for over 15 functional modules (ie. CCS, BW, PM, FI/CO, MM, XI, etc.) and we need to pose numerous questions for the transition process (more or less knowledge transfer from our client to us). Right now I have several questions, but need some more so that I am not missing anything. Here are some of the questions I have currently:
    1) Provide all SAP Functional Modules
    2) Provide SAP interfaces
    3) Provide desktop, web & application servers
    4) How is performance monitored
    5) Is there 3rd party scheduling tools
    6) Provide list of databases used
    7) Provide SAP system landscape, how many environments, source systems, how everything is connected
    8) What is the SAP release and the current support packs applied
    9) Provide your Transport Strategy
    10) How is data loaded, how often, for which areas of SAP and how is it validated after load is completed?
    11) How many users?
    12) Hours of support operation?
    13) Impact to business as a result of failure
    14) What are the security and roles for each SAP module
    15) What is security requirements to provide access to SAP
    16) What is the backup, recovery & archive schedule and strategy
    17) Is there any Q&Adb available, if so where is it located?
    18) Additional Documentation: Technical Specs, Functional Specs, Business Requirements/Blueprint, DB structure tables, BPP's, Config docs, Landscape configuration
    19) Are there any user exits or ABAP modifcations?
    20) What is the comfortability of the users on each module? How much training did they recieve? Where are the training docs located?
    21) Are there BPP's? How detailed? Where are they located?
    22) Are there Config. Docs? How detailed? Where are they located?
    23) Are there Technical & Functional Specs? How detailed? Where are they located?

  • Knowledge about the support project

    Dear All,
When we are taking up the support project, could any one help me what are the knowledge i should have about the client before take the project?
    Thanks in advance
    With Regards,
    S.Balachander

    Dear S.Balachander,
    It depends on various factors:
    1. Your role in the project.
    2. Has any of other resources of your company currently working or the project is new to your company.
    3. What are all the modules/Technologies that you would be supporting. etc...
Get knowledge transfer from existing resources, if there are any.
    Go through their Business Process.
Get familiar with the tool that they are using for handling Tickets.
Go through Service Level Agreement. (Time frames for different type of tickets)
Legacy system's if they are using any.
    Custom programs/layouts/interfaces/tables etc.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • How do you pass knowledge ?

    Dear Gurus,
When rolling off, a developer may be asked to hand over knowledge of codes developed to the next person.
Is there no way to hide knowledge during such a process given that codes can be read by any developer?
I like to know how to handover without actually handing over knowlege as much as possible.
Pls share with me this skill.
    Thanks,
    t.d

    > Your employer has paid you for that knowledge. So if
    > they ask you to pass it on to the next person, that
    > is what you must do.
I agree totally.  When we roll-off of a project and have "knowledge transfer", we go through a review process for each program.  The developer meets with the client team lead and client developer.  We do a code review and go over the functional and technical specification documents.
Some client contracts carry legal requirements.  I have seen development objects listed as "type 1", "type 2", or "type 3".  In some cases, the code is owned by the client and you cannot legally re-use it at any other site.  Other cases declare the source code as "shared".  You can re-use it at a new project.  The third case may declare it is owned by the consulting firm or implementation partner.  The client cannot share it with outside sources.
