Lion iCal client can't read SLS wiki calendar?

Anyone else running Snow Leopard Server (10.6.8) having issues with the new Lion iCal client (v5.0) not seeing a wiki/group calendar? I've got the server path on the Lion client on a new MacBook Air exactly the same as that of the Snow Leopard client (v4.0.4) on my Mac Pro: /principals/__uids__/wiki-groupname
The Mac Pro is working fine with this setup, only difference is the client OS/client iCal version.
iCal server logs don't even show a hit from the Lion client when I refresh the client calendar, while it does show a hit from the Snow Leopard client when I refresh it.

While the behavior you describe
(...every so often the Lion iCal client will forget the group wiki path and it seems to revert to the default ("/principals/__uids__/many hex characters"). I then have to go back in and restore the group wiki path...)
is not ideal, I can't even get it to remember it once. Restart iCal server, restart iCal client, restart MacBook Pro with client...it keeps reverting back to the hex address.
You mention something about
...this was a preferences problem with Lion iCal in the client...
and
...I cleaned all the individual calendar files out of the Library folder...
Can you be more specific? I tried digging through the library files, looking for ones associated with the URL of the SLS Wiki Calendar, but that did not seem to help.
Thanks!

  • 10.5.8 iCal clients can't see additional Wiki Calendars

We just implemented a company wide iCal Server solution on 10.6.3 server (although just updated to 10.6.4 with no difference).
Most of our clients are 10.5.8 (iCal 3.0.8 - 1287). We've setup about 4 or 5 wikis, each with calendars and setup each user's iCal with additional CalDAV accounts for each Wiki Calendar, with URLs in the form of
    http://server.example.com:8008/principals/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/
Now, within each Wiki/Group Calendar account, there might be multiple calendars. It seems that 10.5.8 clients can only see events in ONE of these calendars, whereas 10.6.x clients can see everything! User credentials seem irrelevant, it's just down to the OS/iCal version.
At first, I thought it might just be the primary calendar (/calendars/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/calendar) as opposed to the secondary ones (/calendars/_uids_/wiki-<wikiname>/87263455-a895-dfg3-23456789). However, even that is not the case. I can't seem to find any pattern to dictate why some show and some don't.
Now these 10.5.8 users can create events in the calendar whose events they can't see, but then others can't see those events. I've dug around in /Library/CalendarServer but I can't seem to find anything about event level ACLs. Am I misunderstanding how this should work? Is this a limitation of 10.5.8 iCal? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'll just add that when users view the calendars via the web, all events show up perfectly.

  • How can I connect a Wiki calendar with webcal

    Hi,
I'm an absolute beginner concerning servers. I try to explane it very simple.
I've got a Server with OS Lion Server. The iCal-Server is activate and connected to iCal an another MAC. The Wiki is also activated. In this Wiki I have a Wiki-Calendar.
I want to see this Wiki-Calendar on my iCal-Server or better on iCal.
    What should I do?
    Greetings

To get the calendar on your desktop in iCal, perform the following steps:
    Browse to your wiki.
Click on the calendar link to open the wiki calendar.
To the left you will see a bar with the various calendars and their colors (there may only be one).
Hover over the word "Calendar" and a little info icon will appear.
Click on the info icon, and you will get the calendar info windo. There will be a link to subscribe. This will add the wiki calendar to your iCal program on your desktop.
This should do the trick, took me a few minutes to find this link as well, it's a bit hidden.

  • Upgraded to Lion, no longer can I read DVD-R

A friend gave me a DVD-R of some pictures we took on a vacation (created out of Windows.)  With SL I had no issues importing these photos into Aperature.  I have since upgraded to Lion and want want to re-copy the photos onto one of my hard drives.  When I put the DVD-R into the same drive I used in SL (HP 1170d) it shows up as a burnable Untitiled DVD.  Opening Disk Utility and selecting Info it says that the media is NOT blank, but it is Appendable.  No "Volume" shows up. This sounds like a very seriou bug.  Can anyone confirm?  Thanks.

You'll have to contact Brookstone, the developer of the app in question to find out if they will update the app.

  • Lion iCal will not synch my 1 google calendar consistently.

Have deleted and set up the google account twice...it will work for a short period of time then tells me the password is wrong and to reenter it.  In addition, I receive an unable to save iCal data once in awhile.  Suggestions?

    Hi Guys,
I got the same issue here!
2 Google accounts inside iCal on Lion.
The gmail account appears more or less 20 times in the iCal Preferences and allways reloading and connecting besides asking me for the password several times without action.
Until now I just quit the iCal, watching my calender on another mac, but then my Laptop started to heat up, starting a lot of cooling.
I started checking my Processes and found iCalExternalSync that is still working after shuting down iCal.
looks like iCal isn't quitting completely even if the App looks closed in the dock.
Quite some issues have been found and still no update from Apple!!
Hopefully we are getting some fixes soon, for OS X Lion, Lion Server and FCP X!!!

  • Wiki calendar path!!

    Hi!
I'm working on ical server, wiki calendar for group! As I know it is not possible to send invitation if calendar is based on wiki, but may be it is possible to change path for wiki calendar so it could look on calendar which made no server __uids__/<calendar> but not in __uids__/wi/ki/<calendar>!
I suppose it could solve the problem with invitations, because if you have wiki calendar for group, and user uses this calendar also on ical (just by changing server path) you are not able to send invitations! But if it's regular calendar on ical server it can send invitations, so I just want to find where I can change path to calendar for wiki calendar!
May be somebody have some ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Wiki calendar pages can't be accessed

After the most recent server and security updates, no one is able to access the calendars through the wiki web sites. Everything else on the sites are accessible but on the home page under "Upcoming Events" shows a message "Unable to access calendar, because an error occurred" and when we attempt to access the calendar, the page is grayed out and it is stuck at "getting events from server" with the spinning wheel. We are not using group calendars, just individual calendars through the wiki web pages. Is this happening to anyone else?

    Idem
i just can't access the wiki calendar.
But I can access calendars linked with individual accounts (from the "my page")
i have some other issues with individual calendars in ical clients : randomly an connection error occurs, and most of time it takes loads of time to update at opening and/or after editing.
    I get this :
    +Le serveur a répondu+
    +« HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error »+
    +à l’opération CalDAVRefreshDelegateListQueueableOperation.+
I don't know if both problems are linked together or not.

  • ICal clients not linking to iCal server after server migration to 10.6.1

Over the weekend I upgraded our server from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1. For almost everything the upgrade went flawlessly.
Except none of my iCal clients can connect. I get:
+"The server responded with an error.+
+The connection to the server (server name) was refused."+
Any ideas what might be causing it??

I think we need more information on what troubleshooting steps you've tried. For example, what pertinent messages, if any, are showing in the caldavd logs? Have you tried to telnet to the appropriate port on the server to ensure that it's open? Is there an SSL mismatch between the server and client? If you open iCal on the server itself and try to set up a CalDAV account, does that work?

  • Adding groups to delegate in ical client

I've got iCal server working but would really like to be able to delegate to a group instead of adding 30 odd names in one at a time.
I have the groups working correctly for AFP with Workgroup manager. Was hoping iCal server would just use these groups to delegate in iCal client but obviously not since they don't appear when I type them in.
So do I need to setup groups in a global address book for this to work? Where does the iCal client try to read its delegates from?

Been having a dabble but scared I'm going to break something!

    Hi-
Were you able to delegate to a group via the command line? I've been trying and although the command goes through, the resource or location does not show up in an individual user's iCal account under the delegation tab. I too want to avoid adding 40+ users manually!

  • EWS: Reading of linked calendars over WebServices -- How can i get the necessary email-adresses?

    What i want to do:
i'm working on an service, witch should connect to an exchange-server an get all changed appointments to store them
    in an extra database.
    What i already have:
I have the servnce yet done, except of one thing.
    My problem:
The idea was to create a dummy-exchange-user, witch has linked all the shared calendars from oder users. So this
user can see all the shared calendars in outlook.
I can already read this linked calendars with FindItemType(), but i need the email-address of each mailbox witch
    belongs to the linked calendars.
    for example:
    z.B.
User1 has the address [email protected]
User2 has the address [email protected]
User2 has shared his calendar and User1 has linked this shared calendar.
If i don't specify the email-address, i get all appointments auf the mailbox, witch i'm connected to 8in this
example the calendar of User1). If i specify the email-address of User2, i'll get the calendar of user2.
Here my code (i shorted it a little bit):
Private Function GetAppointmentsFromExchange(ByVal emailAdress As String, ByVal StartZeit As Date) As List(Of GroupWareAppointment)
Dim lAppointmentList As New List(Of GroupWareAppointment)
    'Create new Find-Request
Dim lFindRequest As FindItemType = New FindItemType()
    lFindRequest.Transversal = ItemQueryTransversalType.Shallow
    lFindRequest.ItemShape = New ItemResponseShape()
    lFindRequest.ItemShape.BaseShape = DefaultShapeNamesType.Default
    'Specify the folder to search
    Dim lCalendar As DistingishedFolderIdNameType.Calendar
    lCalendar.Id = DistinguishedFolderNameType.calendar
'if not my own calendar, then specify the email-address of the linked calendar
    If Not (String.IsNullOrEmpty(emailAdress)) Then
    lCalendar.Mailbox = New EmailAddressType()
    lCalendar.Mailbox.EmailAddress = emailAdress
    End If
    lFindRequest.ParentFolderIds = New BaseFolderIdType() {lCalendar}
    'some nonrelevant code
    'Send Request to Server
Dim lResponse As FindItemResponseType = myExchangeServerAccess.FindItem(lFindRequest)
    'some nonrelevant code
    Return lAppointmentList
    End Function
This works pretty fine. But i have to know all the email-addresses of the linked calendars.
The problem is now, that i don't know how to get this email-addresses. I looked a lot in the internet, but it seems,
that ews doesen't have such a function.
The only solution i found was to look in the active directory. But this won't work because active directory is not
    realy connected to exchange.
So i need either a list of the exchange-users (i need only the email-adresses of the connected calendars, not of all
the users on exchange) or a other solution, how i can get appointments from linked calendars without to specify the
    email-adresses.
Does anybody have a tip for me?
    (Sorry for my bad english)

Maybe somebody is interessted, how i solved it.
My solution isn't pretty, but it works.
First i get only the users, who have an mailbox on exchange from active directory.
Then i try to get their calendar in a loop. If i don't hav the permission for the calendar, i try the next user.
Getting the whole appointments with GetItem() was very slow. So i get only the ItemIDs an then get only this propertys of an appointment, witch i need (AditionalPropertys). This works faster.
His Method works, but there is a problem. I can't see, witch appointments were deleted.
So i tryed SyncFolderItem(). This wors very fine. I get the new, the changed an the deleted (not the whole appointments, because they are deleted. only the IDs).
The only problem is the Property SyncState. This property defindes, from when SyncFolderItem() should sync. But SyncState isn't a date. It looks like a ID. I recive it every time, i start SyncFolderItem().
So i have to store the recived SyncState to use it für the next sync. Otherwise the sync will start from the begining.
It's pitty, that it isn't possible to use a date also.
I thes days i will try the notofications, so that exchange notifiy me, when there is a change. I don't know, if its true, because some books tell, that otofications works only with one mailbox (the mailbox i'm connected to), an some books tell opposite.
    I will try it.

  • Is there a way to darken the dates (numbers) on ical. After installing Lion I can barely read the dates of the month in ICal

Is there a way to darken the dates (numbers) on the ICal calender. I can barely read mine after installing Lion.

I should note that the time stays on the left of the event name when I re-enter the text (which I had to do all the time before I found the "show event times" button) so I feel like there's a way.

  • How can I make the Lion iCal display more readable?

How can I make the Lion iCal display more readable?

    I'm wondering the same thing.
Under Lion, my calendars' color coding is next to useless because they're suddenly so muted.
Previously I could easily pick out which events belonged to which calendar without effort. Now, all the colors are so light as to be nearly indisinguishable; I must toggle calendars off and on to highlight a calendar's events.

  • Lion client can connect ONCE to SL server...

I've been running a small network of about 30 macs (largely iMacs) for a few years now.  Server is 10.6.8, most clients are 10.6.8 as well, with a couple 10.5.iforget.  I haven't really had many issues.  However, we just added a few more computers and (of course) they are running Lion.  Out of the box, they wouldn't even seem to see my server until I upgraded to 10.7.4.  However, now, I can log in with a network account when I first boot up.  If I log out and try to log back in with ANY network account, I get "Unable to login to account X at this time".  Restarting the computer allows me to log in.  I can't seem to see anything in the logs that would indicate a problem, but I'm also not exactly sure which logs or lines to really be focusing on.
Another issue is that after binding the Lion client, the computer does not show up in WGM.  I have the 10.7 Server Admin tools installed on the Lion clients.

Idon't see why not I'm running SLS od master and lion od master (has to be for profile manager)
The lion server is bound to the SLS (without password) and gets my users and groups from the SLS
I also have lion clients managed by SLS using PHD I'm not seeing the problems your getting
Does it make a difference if you wait a minute or so before logging in again
Do you have the same problem with none loin network accounts
    Are your network homes AFP
Sounds like lion can't find your network home when you re login
