I keep getting ads for MacKeeper. Is this something I should do for my Mac or is it unnecessary?
It's unnecessary - ignore those & similar ads. Consider using an adblocker extension like
http://safariadblock.com/ which is easily stopped/removed. -
After installing the windows 7 64 bit, it will restart automatically with error in blue screen. in this case what should i do? i have using bootcamp 5
if it's restarting directly into an error, you can try troubleshooting (might be painful) or re-install windows with boot camp

I was using my IPAD this morning. Powered it down, then when I powered it back up, it said activation required.. but it would not accept my password. I hit skip and logged in fine. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Probably - if it happens again. Chalk it up to a fluke occurrence for now.
I get the message on my iPad that it can't connect to the iTunes Store - While I am in the iTunes Store or the App Store happily navigating from one tab to another.
You can try rebooting the iPad to "clear the cobwebs" but if it is OK now, I probably wouldn't be overly worried. Rebooting being holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. -
Down loaded mavericks, it will not install on my computer because it says" this hard drive is used for time machine back up". So I used my old computer hard drive for back up and reloaded the program but it still says the first hard drive is being used.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Make sure you have selected your MacBook Pro's hard drive as the destination to install Mavericks. If so, you have the "Backups.backupdb" folder in the root level of your hard drive.
That's the folder used by Time Machine to store backups of your files, and the Mavericks installer understands that your internal hard disk is the Time Machine drive.
To fix this, open a Finder window, select the Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type:
Then, delete "Backups.backupdb", empty the Trash and run the Mavericks installer. Finally, install OS X Mavericks -
I have a 2014 15" Retina display Macbook Pro.
Moving on from my 13" 2012 Macbook Pro the charger on the 2014 model isn't as good and keeps flicking out, and not staying in place.
Unfortunately it flicked out on its own at the wrong point, when I was closing the screen. This resulted in the screen cracking!! Because this is a fault with the Macbook's charger that has cracked my screen, will apple cover it and replace my screen?
If not does anyone know how much screen replacements cost at apple?
I have applecare but screen damage does not cover it.
Thanks guys!There's no one from Apple here, so we can't advise you on what it would cost to replace the screen. You should just take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP (making an appointment first) and get and estimate for replacement.
I doubt that Apple will fix the screen gratis - they will likely pin it down to a user accident. If you can actually demonstrate that it's the fault of the adapter, you may get a break.
Good luck,
Clinton

Hi,
The bug of 'SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: file:///xxx/xxx.swf cannot access rtmfp://fms4.acrobat.com/cocomo/na2-sdk-xxx/xxx. No policy files granted access.' was first reported in lccs forum over a year ago:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2803074
But the bug is still around. The bug can be generated by calling BitmapData.draw() on a flash.media.Video object which is attached to a p2p stream. It looks like the solution is to have the publisher to call:
send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true)
on the NetStream object _before_ the subscriber calls NetStream.play(), in order to give the permission to subscribers for audio and video streams.
In lccs library, the above permission authorisation happens in WebcamPublisher:
protected function onNetStatus(p_evt:NetStatusEvent):void
if (p_evt.info.code=="NetStream.Connect.Success") {
setTimeout(sendSnapShotPermission, 500);
_stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
protected function sendSnapShotPermission():void
_stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
but it doesn't help the problem. In fact, it is not clear to me when this 'snap shot permission' is sent to the subscriber.
One more note: This is not a critisism for the lccs development quality, but rather a question on how ready lccs is for production use. After encountering this bug, I had to go through the lccs code (the open source parts), and found out that the library is not really written, well, carefully, and it is full of temporary quick-n-dirty fixes.
For instance in the above example, sendSnapShotPermission() is called after 500 milliseconds, probably to allow something to happen before calling the method, but how can you be sure that it will happen in 500 milliseconds? Probably,an event listener should have been used. Immediately in the next line, we see:
_stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
which is a duplicate of sendSnapShotPermission(). many examples like this can be found throughout the library.
AurelianoHi Nigel,
Two questions:
1. When the publisher sends the access permission to the subcriber by:
netStream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true)
, on the subscriber side, what event or function can handle the guaranteed receipt of the access permission? Currently it is possible to draw the incoming stream video upon receiving NetStream.Play.Star and waiting for 5 seconds or so:
public class MyWebcamSubscriber extends WebcamSubscriber {
override protected function layoutCameraStreams():void
// trying the event listener seems to work here.
_streamManager.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus);
override protected function onNetStatus(e:NetStatusEvent):void
super.onNetStatus(e);
case "NetStream.Play.Start":
setTimeout(function():void {
// draw the video from the incoming stream here.
}, 5000);
The questions is, which event can let the subscriber know that it has the access permission to the video stream?
2. In WebcamPublisher, why is that the access permission is sent 3 times?
a. Once on receiving NetStream.Connect.Success with 0.5 second delay, as in below.
b. Once immediately upon receiving NetStream.Connect.Success, as in below.
protected function onNetStatus(p_evt:NetStatusEvent):void
if (p_evt.info.code=="NetStream.Connect.Success") {
setTimeout(sendSnapShotPermission, 500);
_stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
protected function sendSnapShotPermission():void
_stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
c. Once in onConnectionTypeChange() with 2 seconds delay:
protected function onConnectionTypeChange(p_evt:StreamEvent):void
if ( _streamManager.isP2P) {
_stream= new NetStream(_connectSession.sessionInternals.session_internal::connection as NetConnection,NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS);
setTimeout(sendSnapShotPermission, 2000); -

Giga Ethernet: Is this something I should be using
Currently I use Airport for connecting to the internet but we're thinking of adding one additional Mac to our home (one for the wife) and I was considering adding "wired" networking to utilize the Giga Ethernet ports on the Macs. Is this useful for faster file transfers, etc.?
My thinking is that with the usual things a new family does that it might be useful, i.e., video, photo's, etc.If that's your only reason for adding a wired network, it may not be worth it. I would suggest that you wait until you get the additional Mac and see what your usage patterns are. If, after you have multiple computers in your home, you find that you're constantly waiting for large files to copy between computers, re-visit this issue.
Otherwise, there won't be much benefit to going wired right now. As Mike pointed out above, it will have no bearing on the network activity your computer has with the outside world. -
When I turned on my computer this morning, a fan like noise and air came out of the back of the computer. I have never heard this before. Should I be concerned, and why am I hearing this for the first time?
I don't believe it is cause for concern, but I would perform a System Management Controller reset:

From the above:

The System Management Controller (SMC) is responsible for many low-level functions on Intel-based Macs. These functions include:
Responding to presses of the power button
Responding to display lid opening and closing on portable Macs

Is there a professional green-screen photo booth app I can use for events?
Hi there,
I'm trying to set up a photo booth for an events company, but one that allows green screen capabilities, and one that people can use on their own without the aid of a photographer. The best app I've found online so far is SimpleBooth Pro:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/simplebooth-pro-edition/id747314899?mt=8
...and then of course there are green screen apps:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/veescope-live-full/id605757864?mt=8
... but nothing so far that combines both features.
Any way to rig a feed into the iPad to get chroma keyed images?
Thanks!
EThere are no limits. But there is a known memory leak (which is being fixed for a later release).
Would it be possible to attach a sample SWC so that we can confirm whether this is a known leak or not? I'll take care of filing this in bugs.adobe.com.

Highly anooying as I can't even use the Express Card slot at all, due to the fact the Macbook doesn't even recognize it exists. Has anyone else had this problem. If so, how was it fixed? I only upgraded my Macbook Pro due to the fact Ineeded a better performance but I still need my Expressbox1 to work with my UAD DSP card. If not the buying the new MAcbook was a total waste of money if the Express Card does not even fundtion on it? Please help!!
Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.
