Manual refresh of queries in the Web

Hello,
in the web the default action following any change to the navigation state of the query-result is that an automatic refresh of the query is performed.
We want to enter a series of navigation-steps. It would be inefficient for the query
to automatically refresh each time a navigation-step was entered. Is it possible to halt the auto refresh from executing and instead switch to a manual refresh mode which means that the users can enter a series of navigation-steps and when they are ready, they simply press a refresh button?

options could be ..
1. Have the query automatically expand to a specific level for all queries...
2. Have a prequery window where the selection parameters are specified and then let the user enter the drilldown level for the query and then take the values from this template and then pass the same to the main query as URL parameters .. you can refer the Web API 3.x to find out how to do the same and also search for Command Line URLs.. this option would require some innovative javascript and command Line specifications..

All users by default run BEx queries. Web templates have not been defined. Can the users still run the queries on the web and if so how? Do they also have the option to save the query as a favorite? Thanks

yes, there is button 'display query on web (shiftctrlw)' after V and X. you will get a URL like
http://server:port/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&INFOCUBE=infocubename&QUERY=xxx&VARIABLE_SCREEN=..&DUMMY=..
you should have your bw web-enabled.
it's running on browser, no option to save as favorite, but they can add in bex analyzer.

Profile Parameter : Time out for executing query on the web

Hi gurus,
I am executing queries on the web directly. This can be done from query designer with the button that says "Execute query on web". The problem is that for queries that take more than 600 Secs to run, I get an Application timed out error. Queries that take less than this run smoothly.
Can anyone please tell me the profile parameter associated with this particular setting. It is not rdisp/max_wprun_time, I know for sure since the value for this profile parameter in my system is 9999. Please help.

Firefox 32.0.1. Win7. When I click on a tab Firefox immediately refreshes the page. Before this the last copy of page stayed until I manually refreshed.

In the last couple of days since the last upgrade to Firefox I've noticed a major change in behaviour.
It used to be that when I started Firefox and clicked on one of my tabs I would be presented with the web page as it looked the last time I looked at it. I then had the option to refresh the web page either by forcing it to load again or by selecting an option within the web page.
Since the last automatic upgrade in the last couple of days ago when I click on a tab after starting firefox it's immediately going off and reloading the web page from the html address.
This has two problems:
On some sites I have configured information within the page about my preferences. Normally I click buttons within the page to go forward or back a page. With the new bejaviour I'm takne to default page and have to manually re-enter all my preferences and filters again.
Second problem is on many sites I can a list of where I was at the last time. I then know which articles I;ve already looked and can then remember where I was at the last before updating. With the new behaviour I don't know where I was.
How can I get the old behaviour back ?
I'm running Firefox 32.0.1 on up to date Win7 .

I've kept investigating this further.
I've now found that this is a cache management issue.
I found that the cache options (Tools-Options-Advanced-Network ).
The Cache file on Firefox was set to a limit of 350 MB and the Cache was using 350 MB of storage.
I tried clearing the cache.
After I cleared the cache I found that when I had loaded a web page after I shut down Firefox and restarted and went back to the tab it loaded the web page as it had been the last time I visited.
This suggests that the problem I was encountering was that the cache was full and that rather than clearing out old content from the cache that once the cache filled up Firefox stopped writing new data to the cache.
I also note that the button labelled "Override automatic cache management" was ticked. That would tend to suggest that Firefox was being told not to delete old content when the cache filled.
I've now unticked the "Override automatic cache management" box and will see how I get on.

I want to monitor a web stream but it drops out. How can I refresh the web site automatically?

I work for a radio station that uses a web stream for sports broadcast at various times. My problem is the stream will stop and I have to make a manual refresh to get it going again. I understand there is a way to cause the browser to refresh at a set time I can choose. (such as once ever 60 minutes) I did see this working on one computer but it will not work on the computer I want to use for broadcast. I don't know if it is the version of FireFox I'm using or what? I need help!

WebI report in Rich Client refreshing - But not in the webbased WebI client

Dear experts,
I am quite new to BO and I am currently facing the following problem regarding our WebI reports:
I created a WebI report in the WebI Rich Client. This report accesses an OLAP universe, which in turn gets data from a SAP BW through a BI query. I also exported the report to the CMS. In InfoView, it is displayed correctly as well. The report displays the data alright.
Now here comes the strange part of it: When refreshing the report from within the WebI Rich Client, the data is being updated (the current BW data is being shown) as it is supposed to. BUT when refreshing the report from within the WebI Java client (in InfoView), the report would not update, i.e. it would not display the current BW data but instead the old data. When scheduling instance creation the instances would also not display the current data.
We are am running BO XI 3.1, no FixPacks.
Does anybody have a clue why this is happening?
Any hint would be appreciated.

The report would not refresh after I hit "Refresh data" ("Daten regenerieren" in German). Plus the newly created instances (one instance is being created every 5 mins) would also not show the current data.
The funny thing is that as soon as I go back to the Rich Client and hit "Refresh data" in the Rich Client, the report would always show the current data, never the old ones.
We should probably continue discussing in just one thread (Scheduled WebI report instances with differing values), this issue seems to be interrelated somehow anyway. Sorry for opening up multiple threads.

Error (IES10901) (WIS 10901) while refreshing the Webi report

Hi Gurus,
We have created webi reports using Universe design tool on top of BEX Query based on 0SD_C03 cube and now we are facing Database error: A runtime exception has occured. (Error loading cube 0sd_c03 (catalog : % 3). (IES 10901 ) (WIS 10901) while trying to refresh the Webi report from Data Access--> Edit--> Run Query while its running fine when I refresh the report using refresh button option in Webi.
When I run the the query in rsrt its working absolutely fine.
Note that we are using BOBJ 4.0 SP7 and this issue has come recently.
Any idea or help on this would be appreciated.

are you getting this error constantly or sometimes?
what type of connection are you using for your Webi report
Is it Specified user name/password OLAP connection or SSO Olap connection
If your are using Specified user name/password OLAP then try with SSO connection because SAp recommendation is not to use Specified user name/password OLAP connections..to resolve this kind of issues please restart DSL bridge..

Reg: Error while refreshing the WebI Report

Hi all,
I created WebI report based on universe that is connected to Excel data. Through DSN I m accesing Excel Data . I created same DSN in server also. If I refresh the webI Report in BO server it tells the following error.
A database error occured. The database error text is: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] System resource exceeded.. (WIS 10901)
Before that its working fine. what may be the problem?

How can I invoke the web service manually in websphere?

I've developed a webservice application using Rational Application Developer (RAD). I deployed it in a websphere 6.1 application server, using the administration console to import the war file that I had previously exported with RAD.
My webservice application is listed in the "Enterprise Applications" section of websphere's administration console as started.
My question is: how can I invoke the web service manually? Is there some kind of websphere generated webpage that I can use to call it manually?
I tried http://<server:port>/<contextroot> and http://<server:port>/<contextroot>/<servicename> in a webbrowser, but it doesn't work. Is it possible to invoke the web service manually, or do I need to develop a client?

Hi Bo Wang,
    Go to the Portal -> System Administration -> System Configuration
                           -> Portal Content folder
                           -> Open Visual Composer folder
    There you can see the Webservice Systems you have created through VC.
You can delete the unwanted system here.

Hi,
You need to switch to design mode (BEx Analyser Menu - Design Toolbar - Design Mode). For each query that you want to embed, insert an analysis grid item in the workbook. Link each analysis grid to its corresponding data provider (query).

General queries related to implementing the web service

Hi all,
I am new to web services, so I would like to get some of the queries solved which I am facing as of now.
- If in a function of web service, there are three parameters defined, in which one is input parameter while remaining others are output parameters, then from the client invoking that web service has to provide only the input parameter as an argument or all the three arguments should be provided?

I really can't say about the input / output parameters. My guess is that you can't really have ByRef output variables, because the web method call is marshalled into XML and you only get a reply in XML based on the return type of the web method. What I'm trying to say is: only use the method's return value to receive output. Create complex Objects that can be mapped to XML to do that.
The way to call the web service from java is to parse the WSDL document for the web service and see what kind of input messages the web service requires and what type of output messages it produces.
As far as I know there are two ways to parse the WSDL.
1) If you know the location of the WSDL during development you can use it as an input to tools like wsimport in order to create a Service Endpoint Interface.
2) If you only know the WSDL location during runtime, you have to parse the document either by DOM/SAX etc either by using libraries such as wsdl4j

DeskI report refreshable on the web

I am attempting to make a DeskI report available on the web. That part was easy, i saved as HTML, and was able to view it on a web page. But we need a step further, i need to be able to make this report refreshable, it has 4 prompts. We want the user to be able to enter info into prompts and get the report. I know this can be done, but cannot figure out why i can't make it work, any help is appreciated.

When saving the Deski report as HTML set the "Automatic Reload Every"
The browser reloads the document according to the frequency specified in the box, which ensures that the HTML document is kept up-to-date with changes made to the original document in BusinessObjects. This is similar to the document refresh feature.

New manually field in the Web-UI

What I have to do to display this field in the Web-UI? I read something about BOL and GENIL. But Iu2019m not sure, what I have to do exactly.

Is this new added field available in BOL . First check it BOL Browser by Tcode GENIL_BOL_BROWSER.If it is available it also will be available in Context Node attribute of related BOL.
If ot is then Make a view configuration for ur view and from available fields u can add this new added field in ur view.
If u want to do some operation with this field like retrive data or want to create any dropdown like thing u need to enhance that component as well as view where u r using this view and then create GETER/SETER method which one u required for this view.
U can find this field from context node attribute.

How to combine the same variables from 2 queries in one webi report

I created two BW queries/universe and put them into one web intelligence report. Both queries have the same mandatory variable. I combined the relevant dimensions but can't find how to combine the two variables, which resulted in pop-up for 2 variables.

Instead of working on existing reports.
Create new report(s) on top of these changed Universes(2).
1. New WebI report on top of Univ1 (With Prompt)
2. New WebI report on top of Univ2 (Without Prompt)
If both are working as expected. Do follow below:
1. Open any Report (just created in above steps)
2. Edit Query
3. Add Query
4. Select another Universe
5. Drag few objects
6. Run Queries
Now see it is working as expected or not.??

Forms Refresh Problem on The Web??

i have a form coded in 6i. in this form i have around 20 buttons one below another and each of the button has a stacked view associated with it. whenever i click on a button i am opening the relative stacked view on th content canvas and repositioning the rest of the bottons and views by moving them down.
Now the problem is it works fine in client-server, but when i run it on the web, when i try to open any of the buttons the screen scrolls automatically to the top. I also noticed that if i wait for a few seconds(or sometimes minutes) the form takes me to the correct position. i think there is some refresh problem. i tried Syncronize also but to no use.
i would appreciate If someone can help me out on this ASAP. (thanks for the patience in reading this long mail!!)

Try to instal the latest version of Jinitiator. I have similar problems, but my case is not so bad. Jinitiator develops very quickly and as i have heard it works now fine.
