New calling feature in OS X 10.10 needs a keypad

The new calling feature works great in OS X 10.10, until you come across an automated phone system... No keypad.
Hopefully that will get updated. I can't imagine Apple didn't think about this.

  • New Movies feature in Garageband 11- how to export?

    I work at a school and would like to be able to import editable videos from Discovery Education United Streaming into the new Movies feature in Garageband. The thought is to have them remove the audio and then create their own on top of the video.  Some students have pre-made songs that they have done previously that we want to add video to. This seems like it would be much easier for students to do in Garageband than importing into iMovie and splitting the audio and then finding their Garageband recordings to insert.
    The problem I ran into is that I can import the videos, but Garageband will not allow me to export them.  I have tried on multiple machines, and with multiple videos.  I called Apple support and they suggested that it is a codec issue with the .mov file from Discovery Ed.  They could not tell me what codecs are supported by Garageband.
    I was able to get around this problem by importing the downloaded video into iMovie, then exporting it right back out as a .mov file.  When I imported that one into Garageband I was able to export the movie with the new audio file from students without any issues.  If I do this, I might as well just have students use iMovie instead. 
    Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do in Garageband to make this work as easily as it should.  Thank you.

  • Not possible to add a new call in agenda with N97 ...

    I can not add a new call in the agenda, I dont understand if is a limit of N97 mini. It's a strange situation because with all my previous Nokia phone that was possible.
    It's a very usefull function because I can start the call directly with alert starting.
    Any trick to do this?

    Not ever noticed or used this feature , but if you set a reminder with the telephone number in it and have number search activated in messaging (so numbers are highlighted) you could tap on the number and be given the option to call !

  • Remove calling features - Answer 1571 and Privacy ...

    I've just ordered a new connection, and decided to opt into the "free" calling features Answer 1571 and Privacy at Home. After completing the order I was notified by email that these features are only free under certain conditions, otherwise there's an additional monthly charge. This was probably mentioned somewhere while I was ordering it, but I didn't see it so I'm guessing it was buried in small print.
    I'd like to opt out of these calling features to avoid having to pay any additional charges, but I can't find any information on how to change which calling features I'm subscribed to. Please can you let me know how to turn off Answer 1571 and Privacy at Home.
    I'd also like to make a suggestion: You should make it clear to your customers that there are hidden charges associated with these "free" services before they place their orders.

    Hi guys and girls,
    I was wondering if there was a Cisco mailing list or some type of advertising shoot that Cisco used to advertise new features in IOS software? I have been reading through text books on the new exams in the past to keep up to date but thought that there must be a better way out there that I have simply missed.
    Any help will be appreciated. Oh and you can also be the first person to respond to my posts on the forum :S. To be fair I fixed the other issues by myself but it’s always nice to hear from others.

    To be completely honest, I would welcome such mailing list or a concise information channel for new and changed IOS features as well. Unfortunately, so far, there are no such focused information sources to my best knowledge.
    What you can always visit:
    1) Each major IOS generation is documented along with the Release Notes which document the changes, newly added or removed features, solved and open caveats, etc. Following is the list of Release Notes for major IOS versions for routers:

    3) For Catalyst switches, the Release Notes are are published more often, however, the IOSes for Catalyst switches are customized for each Catalyst platform and you should always go to the appropriate Catalyst switch product pages to visit the corresponding IOS documentation.
    4) As the Catalyst switches have very nice Configuration Guides, they can also be used as sources of information about supported features, including learning about new features - although it may be difficult to know which exact feature has been added in a new version.
    Anyone here willing to share his/her own ways of keeping in pace with new IOS features?

  • Clarification on Calling features

    Edited for easier reading:
    Might be a simple one but on my Unlimted evening weekend plan it says I can have 3 calling features for no extra cost.
    Some features however have a charge if a minimum use isn't met, I take it this still applies for the features taken at "no extra cost"
    I'd assume the features that charge "per use" aren't available as part of the above.

    does this mean the "3 calling features for no extra cost" have already been decided for you and limited to BT privacy at home, 1571 and 1471?
    I would of read it at first that you'd have a choice.
    on a related note I have been reading issues with BT Privacy at home (which inc. Caller Display) being advertised as free but being charged? also how is the best root to set this up? the online feature doesn't seem to work properly for calling features and looks more tuned to new / change of plans.
    any help appreciated

    2. To call to/within the US you will need either the Unlimited USA/Canada Subscription or some Skype credit. To enable your USA contacts to call you at their local rates (irrespective of your location) you will need a USA Skype Number.

    I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

  • How can I disable the new voice feature in iMessage?

    iMessage is great and I use it a lot, but I hate the new voice feature. I don't want anyone to be able to send me a voice message. I think it's extremely pushy. If someone wants to talk to me, he should give me a call. Then I can decide whether I answer the call or not. How can I disable this without completly disabling iMessage?

    I'm pretty sure there's no way to prevent this, just like there's no way to prevent a text message or picture/video message.  If you don't want to listen to it, delete it, and text them back and tell them you don't like voice messages and they need to call you and leave a voicemail.

  • Merge Calls feature

    Merge calls feature used to work fine on my iphone but now pressing it simply toggles between calls placing the other on hold anybody else had this problem?

    i too was here reading this about 2 months gao wen the call conferencing stop working...
    the problem was ...yes two or more calls could be connected... but when the merge button was pressed.. it seemed to work... but 2 seconds or so later it went back individuall calls...
    i read here that it might be a software glinch..... it is not... so dont bother waiting on the next one.. i did... doesn help.... its a problem with the network..
    my service provider is o2... i rang them up...or so i thought was them...but was actually a apple representitive... he then put me through to o2.. after a short time on hold... the woman told me it has to be activited... and i have to wait 24 hours...
    the next day as promissed she rang back to tell me to turn my phone off and on.... and there it was... working as new...

  • Unable to Access Calling Features or Calling Plan ...

    I was wondering if anybody could advise if there is a dedicated support team for issues with BT.com. I am having issues when attempting to access either the Calling Features or Calling Plan Pages from BT.com. I have no problems viewing recent usage or Billing etc. and I am able to make payments. When trying to access the Calling Plan I receive the following error ... "We're sorry. Sorry, we can't continue your request with the account number provided. Please call us on 0800 800 150 to continue." The Calling Features page, returns this ... "Sorry, we can't change your Calling Features at the moment. Sorry, your account number wasn't recognised. Please check and try again." I have tried the 0800 number but nobody seems able to help and I eventually got cut off as I was transferred for the fourth time, so I thought I would see if anybody else has had the same experience and could help me short cut the IVR. Many thanks.

    I also have the same problem. Here is a copy of the email I sent BT after spending a frustrating amount of time talking to their call centre to people who clearly did not have a clue. What is worse is they do not seem to have an escalation process to deal with problems that are not on their script and that they do not understand.

    I have for a long time managed my account TH******* on line. Last year I added account GB******* to the list of accounts I manage online. Ever since this account has been set up I have noted that when I select the 'calling plan' option for this account I get the message "Sorry, we can't change your Calling Plan at the moment. Please call us on 0800 800 150 to continue" and when I select the 'calling features' option I get the message "Sorry, we can't access your account information at the moment. Please try again later".
    Today I tried to do something about this. As directed I called 0800 800 150.
    Issue 1. None of the 4 options (i to place or check on an order, ii calling about a bill, iii moving home, iv a fault or need help with your service) actually apply to what I am calling about but I am forced to listen to them twice because there is not get out option supplied until the recorded message 'you do need to choose one of the options.'
    If you provide a number to call from a website then that number should provide an option that actually applies in the circumstances relating to the reason the number was given. In this case I am calling because the website is not functioning correctly. There was no option for that.
    Issue 2. Before I finally managed to reach a person, I was asked to enter my phone number and my account number. But when I reached an 'advisor' she asked for my account number again.
    If your system does not pass the account number through to the advisors, why make me key it in. If it does, why am I asked for it again?
    When I finally managed to speak to someone after selecting a range of inappropriate options I explained my problem. At first, she just offered to help me change my package. I explained that this was not what I was asking but that I wanted to be able to manage this account online. I was advised that there is currently a fault on the website and that I should try again later.
    On reflection, I decided that this answer was inadequate since I could clearly see both of the options on the account TH******* and I had never been able to see these options on the new account since it had been set up despite having tried several times.
    Issue 3. The answer given does not seem to address my problem.
    So I called again.
    Repeat issues 1 & 2.
    This time I reached Kamal in billing and services. Similarly he just offered to help me change my package. I explained that this was not what I was asking but that I wanted to be able to manage this account online. I explained that I could do this for account TH... but not account GB... After some time he came back with the answer that it was not possible to do with GB accounts but was with TH accounts. I expressed incredulity and asked to register a complaint about the fact that I could manage one account comprehensively but not the other. I then noticed for the first time that on the 'Accounts' page on the website, there was no telephone number showing under the account number GB****** whereas there was under the account number TH******8. So I suggested that perhaps the account had not been set up correctly.
    After some considerable time while he looked into this, put me on hold several times, and at one point suggested that he might have to reset my password, he finally came back to me with the response that there was a technical problem with the website and that I should try again in 24 hours.
    Issue 4. It is unacceptable that I was kept hanging around for so long while he attempted to diagnose the problem.
    Issue 5. Clearly, the advice he gave me earlier in the call that "it was not possible to do with GB accounts" was rubbish.
    In all, this was a totally unsatisfactory experience. I am hoping someone can explain why your system is so convoluted and, in the end, inadequate. Most of all I would like to be assured that my account will now be able to be managed online - if not, why not.
    I will try the system again in 24 hours as advised by Kamal. Hopefully I will find that it works.

    Note that they are telling me the problem is my fault. What do they mean 'you have not attached the telephone number' - I can clearly see the billing information for this number so it clearly is 'attached' to the account.
    After hunting for ages on their website to find an option to delete the account as suggested I eventually found it, pressed the delete button and ....
    You cannot remove this account from your profile. For further assistance, please call 0800 800 152.
    We're sorry, but it's not possible to remove this account from your profile at this time.
    OMG!
    So I guess I am going to have to spend yet more time on the phone to them. I'll let you know how I get on.

    I have this problem too. I have done tests and the issue is not associated to a firmware version. I have used serveral firmware for the phone a serveral version for CUCME (8.6 and 9.1). If you try to do a transfer you can make a new call. The issue is only associated to hold feature. I think that the phone by default set the maximun call per line to 1 but there is no way to set this value greater that one. The command "max-calls-per-buttton" has no effect. I have also reproduced the issue using sip firmware.

  • New Purchase feature will allow to watch, but not offline

    New purchase feature of the AppleTV IOS system will allow you to purchase TV Shows and such, however you can NOT download purchased content.  I have an AppleTV and a Mini Server with a 4TB Disk attached, and when I made a Purchase on Apple TV, I get a counter for how long it will take to sync to iCloud for my personal viewing pleasure, but I can not download to my Mini Server's iTunes library.  I had to purchase a 2nd copy to store locally and use to sync to my devices for watching offline. 
    L A M E!  If I purchased it, I like that iCloud will allow me to stream it and watch it via Live TV, but why can't I download it to watch offline.  Do you honestly think I'm going to travel with my AppleTV and stream video's over an Airplane's wireless 36000 feet in the air on my way to Germany?  C'MON!
    Also, why am I waiting 39 minutes for the episode to be made available, if I rent it I can stream it instantly, if I pay you MORE for it, I'm penalized by having to wait over 1/2 an hour to begin my stream session.

    All you have to do is open iTunes  select iTunes Store and on your home page right hand side under Quick links
    there is a purchased link.
    In here you will find your Music, T.V. Shows, Apps and Books that you have purchased.
    Find the episode you purchased on your AppleTV in the list on the Left.  Select it then click on the Cover art.
    You will get a Pop up window and be able to download from there.

  • Inappropriate Flashing of "New Call" icon in BT Co...

    I have recently purchased a BT converse 2300 'phone which works as expected in every respect except that the New Call icon flashes inappropriately if a call is answered at an extension.  My understanding of the New Call facility is that it is intended to advise the user of missed calls.  However, this feature is largely masked if the New Call icon comes on inappropriately as in this case. Whereas the New Call icon should only be displayed for unanswered calls this useful feature is obscured by the inclusion of calls answered at an extension.  As a consequence of this the individual deletion of each extension answered call is necessary if the facility is to display an uncorrupted record of missed calls during one's absence.  
    Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so I would be grateful for your advice.
